Street Fighter IV - Gen Discussion & Info
Do you only get icons if you WIN during online play? Cos im 1-10 so far. Man i suck. I just lost to a cammy when i gave her my ultra and she had 5% life left. Thought i would win, but nope. Also fought a rose and akuma that just sat back throwing fireballs. Nice...at least i try to switch it up a little.
It sucks but what can you do? You either have to adapt or play something else.

well im 3-17 now. I guess its promising since everyone who beats me gets grades like D's and E's, and when i win i get A, C, C. Is that saying something or is that just BS? Hmmm come to think of it, that could be my grade?

Yea it's your grade whether you win or lose.

I'm bored. I don't watch the damned Oscars.

Maybe they thought you were letting them win since you weren't doing anything about it. :D

I suck at this game. I can't even beat scrubs. I'm relatively new to the fighting scene but at least I could beat people in SFIITHD--even though the only person I used was Deejay.

Maybe because I'm trying to main Abel when I'm more comfortable using characters with charge up moves. Well, and I have no idea how to defend when I'm distracted by such pretty looking moves.

Sitting at 1800 bps, got tired of facing Ryu/Ken, so I started using Ryu/Ken myself (I was using a lot of Bison). It really seems to be the only safe strategy when losing costs me 80-90 bps in ranked. It really is annoying winning several in a row and then having a bad match and losing all that ground.

I am glad to see that the learning curve is starting get decent, I may be seeing Ryu/Ken, but at least I am seeing different strategies. Im also seeing a lot of Balrog, Blanka, Sagat, and a sudden influx of Akuma (people must have just unlocked him).

I am sitting at around 2000 and although I see a handful of E Honda and Vegas its still Ken and Sagat by a country mile.

You know what is really annoying the SFIV community and their inability to understand that ITS NOT ABOUT fuckING WINNING OR LOOSING when we are complaining about the constant Ken/Ryu/Sagats. Its the fact that no one wants to play against the same guy 85% of the time. We have all beaten our fair share of Kens and its not about the ways to beat a spammer. Its the fact that we spend most of our time side stepping, jumping over, EXing through constant Tiger shots, Hodukens.

It was boring the first 10 matches and is almost unbearable through 219 matches. (just got 200 match cheese YAY!)
Im also seeing a lot of Balrog, Blanka, Sagat, and a sudden influx of Akuma (people must have just unlocked him).
Wait a week. You'll be fighting Akuma every other fight, I'm guessing.

In a month, it'll be Seth.

How does online work with the other unlockable characters? Can you not fight them unless you have them unlocked? I haven't unlocked everyone.

Hey guys post your BP. After being on a hella loosing streak today I am sitting at 2333 with a 5 game winning streak.

Still learning with Blanka.....its tough.

How the hell do you do this sakura combo. Im doing training level 4, last combo.

Jump - Heavy Kick
Heavy Punch
Shouoken
Haru Ichiban

I can do them all but the last move never connects. I dont get it.

67bp, I'm debating whether I should hop into ranked again and up it but I'm still stuck with the 360 analog stick for the moment and my thumb gets stupid when I try to do my ultra on 2p side (where I always am).

It won't connect if you try to do the super after she's already completed the Shouken. You have to cancel the Shouoken into the super. Do the button combo for the super just before Sakura gets airborne from the Shouoken. You have to be fast.

Ahh thanks i dunno if i canceled it but i did it so fast she did the move before she left the ground. Nice. I cant imagine me pulling that off in a real match. But wow level 5 of the trail moves was so simple. I was expecting some serious master moves. lol

BTW i have 143 BP, my record is 11 wins in 41 matches. 26% win rate.

I think the level 5 trials for all the characters just teaches you to combo attacks that can't canceled. I had alot of trouble with Ken's third level 5 trial at first. Wait till you do the hard trials. Those are fun :D

I'm at 2100 BP with a 35 game winning streak. Haven't played online as much as I would have liked to, but hopefully will change next week.
So. Mad Catz attempt at being a legit 3rd party gamer accelerator company fails as well all knew it would because lets face it.....Mad Catz is just plain shit.
I wouldn't say that. The TE stick is super slick, very few problems other than cosmetic scratches with them. The fightpads for the most part seem great also. One slight problem at the factory with the SE sticks that MC is fixing free of charge, including shipping.

I guess Red Octane and EA are crap too because of all the problems they had with their music periphials. I can't count the amount of people I saw walk by our store to get to Gamestop with busted GHWT instruments. Say RB/GH to a Gamestop employee and watch their eyes roll back in their head in disgust.

My TE stick is the second MC product I ever bought and hopefully it lasts as long as my PS2 memory card did (7 years.)

1681bp // 24match win streak.

I did a little math out of curiosity... Currently 91-26. Day1 I went 14-14, since then 77-12.
Sadly overall 70+ of those wins are against bad ken/ryus. 1-3 vs blankas. Didn't play online today...gonna try to get some more matches in tomorrow.

well good thing i didn't play more then 30minutes. got DC'd from 2fights. went 6-3 bp down to 1500 now.

ohhh tomorrow will be different...I hope
Ahh thanks i dunno if i canceled it but i did it so fast she did the move before she left the ground. Nice. I cant imagine me pulling that off in a real match.
Once you get used to canceling into a super it's not that hard and actually the best way to land one because most people will either block or jump over it.
Wha? Akuma is weak.
Yea but still can rock your face until you're used to avoiding his cheese and ultra.

I had one Double KO. That was pretty cool, but nothing special came out of it. But for some reason i got BP points and the other guy had some taken away. lol.

I have faced 3 or 4 akumas online and every time I have lost but maybe once. I start out doing well and end up getting hit maybe 4 or 5 times just enough for the ultra to kill me. Then when they have for the ultra I get hit with it and I'm dead. His ultra does not seem that hard to do and does more damage then the other ultras from what I have seen. Maybe not as much as Seth or Goken but I have only seen seths 3 times that I can think of in arcade mode and I was damn near dead anyway.

That happened to me me too. I won the first round, got a double KO the second and I was awarded the win without even gettting to the third round. It was weird.

Double KO counts as a round victory for both players.

If you had one round win already and the other guy didn't, then you would be awarded the win (like what happened).

Went 4-0 last night but stopped because i was tired last night from work. face 1 ken,2 ryus and a blanka. All around 700-1000BP so atleast same skill sorta worked for me...but these guys werent good either.

dont get me wrong...im a little guilty with using gief's double lariat on them but its the only way i can defend their fireball spam.

You guys are lucky with your win streaks... I have a win ratio of about 80% but I never get a streak of more than like 8 going. Still haven't gotten my 10 win cheesemint. :(

I can't beat Seth in the arcade mode on easy...I fucking suck ass.

EDIT: I have never been so frustrated in my life with a game. Just when I thought I could possibly win I use my ultimate combo and not only does he block it, but in the middle of it he manages to actually hit me with a shoryuken. In the middle of my ultimate fucking attack.

I really don't think this game is for me. :bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb:

I would compare EA ad Red Octane to Mad Catz. Yes the GHWT stuff was trash but they have only had a few instances of making bad gaming peripherals.

Mad Catz has been making bad products since I was a young Soodmeg.

I agree I can beat the game without a lick of damage but then Seth comes along and I am screwed.

I don't know what's up with the Seth CPU.

He was a cakewalk on Easy for me on Friday. Beat him with most of the shotos and Cammy.

Then he steam rolls me during the weekend. I could have counted the amount of times he used teleport, dragon punch or an Ultra on my hand on Friday. Now he spams the living shit out of those moves.

I read somewhere (either SRK or GameFaqs) that if you install the game to your HD and patch the game, Seth will become harder than he's supposed to be. Not sure if there's any truth to that, but the Seth AI is sure playing some sort of trick with me...

...what...? That's kinda...odd. Maybe. I can beat him just fine now after the first few times I faced him (with my regulars mind you).
By the way I am switching my Main to Dalshim after watching this video. If you master him you will be damn near unstoppable.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nhy3ema_J4M
Thats how people have been playing dhalsim for a while. Sorry normally over at the ps3 boards.

that dhalsim just uses really good spacing and an average zangief or balrog could mangle that dhalsim.

Gah, I'm such crap at this game. Record right now is 59-25, but that's deceiving since all I end up fighting are scrub Ken/Ryu/Akumas. I think in all those matches I've only fought one *good* player, and that was a Sakura of all characters.

Anyhow, if anyone wants to practice around with player matches, add me. I'm trying to get my Cammy to a somewhat-decent level, but right now I keep having to resort to just tripping people and my Ultra has to save me way too often. Gets wins I guess, but is insanely cheap and I'm sure will stop working fairly soon if that BP rank system proves to be worth a damn.

Master any character and ure damn near unstoppable. One thing cool about Sim was his super then teleporting behind the guy. That shit is hella nasty. EX Fireball ball teleport combo is

I whoop his ass the first round. Then 2nd and third rounds he obliterates me.

Fighting an ai opponent in a fighting game has to be the most unique frustrations in gaming. Getting mad at games is not something I do often, but I was getting straight up PISSED when I was fighting Seth. It a person whooped my ass that bad I wouldn't get pissed, it's weird.
By the way I am switching my Main to Dalshim after watching this video. If you master him you will be damn near unstoppable.
FYI, if u wanna learn Dhalsim u needa learn to "Tiger Knee" his teleport.

instead of doing the controller motion as f,d,df or b,d,db, you would input

f,d,df,uf

or

b,d,db,ub

this would cause you to jump prior to the move coming out, which means you recover in the air from the teleport allowing you to follow up the recovery with an airborne attack.

also doing the joystick motion real sharp and precise means you could be able to pull off an airborne move extremely close to the ground.

Playing right now, up to Sagat with Ryu and I just simply can't beat him. Don't wanna quit, anyone got any tips on how to beat him? Playing on Easy and still finding it impossible.. Playing with Ryu as I know his moves best but I'm not a very good player at all.

He's kind of like a curveball, can really throw people off since you don't see it a lot but can be hammered opposite field if someone's ready for it. Dhalsim has a lot of bad matchups.

I've had Akuma's ultra take at least 60% of my life as Cammy and kill me.

Should be. :applause:

Yeah that made Seth like that. an utter idiot the first round and than he turns black and kicks your ass the next two rounds. It took me FOREVER .to beat him with El Fuerte who i have no clue how to use and it was on easiest. Go figure, he is even tough on the easiest setting in the game.

i entered the CAG tourney. Wow, when we complain about too much ken/ryu.....all i see on that list is Sakura,Sagat, and Zangief..and toss in the occasional E.Honda(Cheapy) and M.Bison(Naiku). IT should be fun. I cant wait to get my ass handed to me by you CAGs.

Soodmeg will probably kill me for who i chose but against you guys...its the only person i have any confidence in i can have a good match with you....but only if i can raise my game with Gief or Sagat...and Gief is going to need alot of work. even though its far away...im really excited. my first CAG tourney.

EDIT:
never mind what i just said. I based it on a glance. This is going to be fun.
