-_-; If anyone had been keeping up with Capcom's comments about this DLC, you'd know that it DIDN'T offer a lobby system. So don't act like "They're not listening to us!", this content was planned before people complaints where heard.
The official statement is that Lobbies would be a possible concern down the line, after this content was finished.
This update gives us a new form of ranked play, and the ability to watch the best of the best, as well as our friends, in fights. Consider it 1 step closer to building a lobby-like community.
Anywho, I love the Replays! It's great finally getting to see the fighting skills of some of my better friend list buddies, whom I've not gotten a chance to fight with on this game. It's also great to take your own winning matches, and save them, for later review by yourself.
Sure this is a bit different, but it's also somewhat more dynamic. I wonder how long you can sit on a position in a Tourney? Could you get to semifinal, leave for a day, come back, and fight a semifinal fight? Hmmm.
Double Blind Selection is great, NO COUNTER PICKING! WOOT! The mystery is welcomed, and it's nice not to see, for example, people shifting over to power characters as I pick Viper, or going to known "counterpicks" for each chara. I've seen a LOT of M. Bison now...
There are also talks that this DLC might have come with some character re-balances and modifications. I hear Fei Long got a potential Buff (Invincible Start-up on HK Chicken Wing, till he leaves the ground), and Damage was Fixed up on EX throws for Rose and Cammy, potentially. Also a rumor that the Hitbox on Zangief's Punch Lariat was modified, making his insane pressure a LITTLE worse on some character, thereby giving them an easier time to escape him.
This update is more for the Hardcore. Input Data and being able to study full on quality fight videos is wonderful. For anyone who'se watched SFIV videos on Youtube, in Order to learn about how to play a character, having 5000 semi-instaload videos, playable on demand on your TV screen, is fantastic. Being able to take it one step further, and see what kinda commands Input-masters are doing, is a fantastic insight.
If you really want to improve your SFIV game, this is a great new tool for it. It might not be EVERYTHING you dreamed it'd be, but it's at least a strong step in the right direction.
Oh, and Warning: The Ping Bars seem more accurate now. As in, before, a 4 bar connection (yellow) would be the best you'd see, and then 3 bars felt pretty good, and everything else was lame. Well, that's kinda changed now! Now 5s actually show up, and they're accurately the best you'll find. The feel of old 3's is now what you'll find in 4's. So, by this pattern, the old 2 is now what you'll get in new 3s, and everything below that, you probably don't want to mess with.
So basically, old bar readings have now moved up one bar. So keep this in mind, when selecting opponents.
When KoF XII comes out, I hope it's match recording is even better than this one! I could easily get used to watching top-of-the-line (for online, anyway) match vids like this...
