Street Fighter IV - Gen Discussion & Info

Canada finally started getting TE sticks and I got mine from EBG today. I'm having a hard time adjusting after getting so hardcore with the 360 controller lol. I'm going to go on a nice losing streak for the next little while. But I can Kara throw now! With the 360 controller I had to press three buttons with one thumb.

Well Championship mode allows replays and for the 360 version you can see all their directional inputs so when you get your ass beat by a 1 million hit combo u can study it :p

the way i understood it only the top pointholders in tournaments can upload replays. You can't actually save your own fights unless youre one of the top.

RIDICULOUS Ken combo.

wow :applause: I got my TE stick today in the mail, I can't believe GS.com came through at record time
And Yes well worth the $161.xx I spent, the stick is amazing, I love it.

Takes some getting used to, but amazing none the less. To recap what I bought, a TE Stick, a SE Stick, and a fightpad. I could've bought a PS3, but oh well I'm a 360(or Madcatz?) supporter all the way. Now I don't know whether to keep the SE and mod with maybe Seimitsu parts or just return in to frys before my 30 days is up.

With way I love the TE stick, well worth it for the quality. And 7 days for free saver shipping. I spent my tax refund well. Can't wait til the 24th!

One of my ps2 discs has spiderweb cracks in the center. It still runs though. The guy who sold it to me on ebay told me there are disc protectors that you can put around the center part of the disc to prevent it from breaking any further.

RIDICULOUS Ken combo.
that Ryu player is actually visiting america like rite now.

he's chillin at the gamestop tournament finals which is today.

Poongko got worked at Nationals. He went 0-3 against Daigo, Justin Wong (he won Nationals vs Mike Ross in finals), and Iyo. Was pretty rough watching that, but Poongko held his own and did some very impressive shit.

Nationals was tight though. Lots of hype!

By any chance, does anyone here have a PS2 MAS arcade stick that they use for SF IV on the PS3? I'm wondering if the stick works and if there is any lag?

Advertising = Bad

Anyways, I decided to bite the bullet and go for Legendary Champion today, which I got. I found it a lot easier to get Ultras off on enemies if I took damage first allowing me to hit them with an Ultra when they were staggered.

So i was playing a guy on player matches. his icon was a chick with a ryu headband and his title was "in training". He beat me with bison doing nothing but jumping hard kick, standing hard punch, and bisons trip slide. Bison is my main character. I just got my main trounced by someone who probably just bought the game. GG
anyone having problems with sf today? ive had several problems staying in matches. it will randomly disconnect.
I think I DC'ed once today, but it was probably a plug-puller since i was kicking the guy's face in at the time of disconnect. Although, it was on player matches and not ranked, so it might not be.

well this was happening while i was playing some of my friends. they didnt dashboard or anything. it just said that it lost connection and we were both booted to the main screen several times

Hey, the input lag could be too blame.

Also, he probably had a wreckless style that you just weren't used too. Just learn from it, you can usually rush those kinda players and get away with n00b-ish mind games.

What I learned today:

-Seth's super apparantly consists entirely of invincible frames cause my ultra whiffed from behind :bomb:
-EX stomp does TOO MUCH DAMAGE! :bomb:
-EX snake strike does TOO MUCH DAMAGE! :hot:

I downloaded the dlc, tried to create a Championship Mode thing to see what it involves, and it failed. Thanks Capcom :S

Oh, and don't be fooled by the 'you have to create new save data to play this game now' BS, you won't have to do everything over. It keeps all your stats. It's just stupid that they mentioned it that way.

EDIT: 360 version is DOA online. Can't connect to anything. Thanks again, Capcom!

The update just came out, maybe you cant connect because most people didnt download it yet.

I downloaded the tournament thing.

I played for an hour or so. Won one tournament. Sucks that there is no bracket. Its just, you win match 1, then you can randomly search for someone else who is in the 2nd round. Then randomly search for someone in the final. I had about 10 people kick me out of the matches. Maybe they wanted their friends to join or something IDK. But it was really annoying. I still dont understand why Capcom allows people to search and pick who they want to fight in ranked or championship mode. Winning the championship mode just gives you like 500 BP. Nothing great. At least its cool how you cant see who the other person is picking.
how would you guys rate champ mode on a scale of 1-10? just wanna know cuz i havent had a chance to play it yet
Definitely not worth $24.99.

I would've liked some better features, maybe a lobby with a bracket so you and your friends can spectate matches then play winner/loser etc(basically your own mini tournament). Matter of fact, if they did that I would actually pay for it.

Its okay. I seem to get a lot of people who boot me from their lobby. But its great not knowing who the other person is picking. No selection screen games anymore.

I was able to upload and save a reply, it was a good one for me. Because it went 3 rounds. He beat me the first time, but the 2nd and 3rd rounds looked like i was going to lose but i pulled it out at the end and won the championship. Damn guy kept turtling on the floor.

It's terrible. It's not even a real tournament. It's the same search ranked gameplay, but with some new headlines and points. We all wanted lobbies and a fix to the error messages when trying to find a game, but Capcom apparently is oblivious to what we want for dlc.

sounds like a bit of a disappointment. i too would have liked lobbies. and it actually not being a tourney is dumb. maybe be the only saving grace will be the replays plus input data

Championship mode is retarded bullshit. The number one complaint from people is this game has no fucking lobbies and instead we get this crap? Capcom is completely inept at doing a decent job on the online aspect of their games.

-_-; If anyone had been keeping up with Capcom's comments about this DLC, you'd know that it DIDN'T offer a lobby system. So don't act like "They're not listening to us!", this content was planned before people complaints where heard.

The official statement is that Lobbies would be a possible concern down the line, after this content was finished.

This update gives us a new form of ranked play, and the ability to watch the best of the best, as well as our friends, in fights. Consider it 1 step closer to building a lobby-like community.

Anywho, I love the Replays! It's great finally getting to see the fighting skills of some of my better friend list buddies, whom I've not gotten a chance to fight with on this game. It's also great to take your own winning matches, and save them, for later review by yourself.

Sure this is a bit different, but it's also somewhat more dynamic. I wonder how long you can sit on a position in a Tourney? Could you get to semifinal, leave for a day, come back, and fight a semifinal fight? Hmmm.

Double Blind Selection is great, NO COUNTER PICKING! WOOT! The mystery is welcomed, and it's nice not to see, for example, people shifting over to power characters as I pick Viper, or going to known "counterpicks" for each chara. I've seen a LOT of M. Bison now...

There are also talks that this DLC might have come with some character re-balances and modifications. I hear Fei Long got a potential Buff (Invincible Start-up on HK Chicken Wing, till he leaves the ground), and Damage was Fixed up on EX throws for Rose and Cammy, potentially. Also a rumor that the Hitbox on Zangief's Punch Lariat was modified, making his insane pressure a LITTLE worse on some character, thereby giving them an easier time to escape him.

This update is more for the Hardcore. Input Data and being able to study full on quality fight videos is wonderful. For anyone who'se watched SFIV videos on Youtube, in Order to learn about how to play a character, having 5000 semi-instaload videos, playable on demand on your TV screen, is fantastic. Being able to take it one step further, and see what kinda commands Input-masters are doing, is a fantastic insight.

If you really want to improve your SFIV game, this is a great new tool for it. It might not be EVERYTHING you dreamed it'd be, but it's at least a strong step in the right direction.

Oh, and Warning: The Ping Bars seem more accurate now. As in, before, a 4 bar connection (yellow) would be the best you'd see, and then 3 bars felt pretty good, and everything else was lame. Well, that's kinda changed now! Now 5s actually show up, and they're accurately the best you'll find. The feel of old 3's is now what you'll find in 4's. So, by this pattern, the old 2 is now what you'll get in new 3s, and everything below that, you probably don't want to mess with.

So basically, old bar readings have now moved up one bar. So keep this in mind, when selecting opponents.

When KoF XII comes out, I hope it's match recording is even better than this one! I could easily get used to watching top-of-the-line (for online, anyway) match vids like this...

I dont get championship ranking. I have 960 GP and im still a G3-B. Ive seen people the same rank in the 100s. Ive won 10 tournaments and came in 2nd 9 times. I guess its not based on how many points you earn, like i had thought.

It also gives you a nice little synopsis of what the update did in the Options Menu.

And by selecting the ? icon actually keeps that a secret now until the Vs screen comes up. I don't know about anyone else, but that screen does seem to freeze a little bit now.

You need 1K for G3-A and 2K for G2-E. Once your in G2-E though you'll start playing people 2k GP or more. It might be because it's late, but it's a bit harder to find opponents once you hit that. I'm sure a few weeks later that won't really be a problem.

You have no idea how hard i was laughing when you tried to ultra me and it missed. Also, Sagat's cutscene uppercut can sometimes COMPLETELY miss in the corner as you were standing up while i was doing some epic fire uppercut that was hitting nothing. Also, trying to tech your kara throws is hard as hell.

I seen someone with a bloody title, does anyone know how to get those? It doesnt look like any from the previous game, maybe they came with the championship mode update?

Once I saw someone land Sagat's ultra in the corner and then he didn't even do the uppercut at the end. He just stopped in the middle of the ultra after getting all the hits before the uppercut. And it's fun when you just bounce once or twice on Ken's ultra. That only seems to happen with Bison lol

Get 30 chip damage medals. It's not new.

Are you sure you weren't looking at CP? Did you assume that they were in the same grade as you since you got matched with them? You can still be matched with anyone within G3A to E until you get to G2 where you'll only be matched with G2 opponents. You seem to have a habit of making alot of weird assumptions about the game.

any one figure out how to get the option to save replays yet?

i'm ranked G3-A and the "save replay" option doesn't come up every time when you win a tournament.

Yeah i dunno, i figured you had to win a final match against a top 500 player on the leaderboard? Ive been able to save 2 replays so far.

You have to be in the top 5000 on the CP leaderboards and win the final match to upload a replay. You can only have one replay uploaded at a time so if you want to keep it, save it to your hard drive before you win another championship. I managed to upload a few replays when the power pack was just released. Top 5000 might be out of reach for most of us by now.

Man, I'm about either drop this or HD remix (temporary). It never fails, after playing HD remix for a decent amount of time I become completely terrible at SF4, I'm convinced it's mainly due to me becoming "twitchy" and reacting to every damned thing (which just gets me killed in sf4).

Im at a crossroads. Im a casual gamer, i dont play everyday. So playing SFIV is mixed between love and hate. I love the game, its great, but i hate it because if you are casual like me, you lose a lot. I dont have the timing down to compete with people who play all day every day online. Sometimes i do moves and they dont work, sometimes i block and they still hit me. So i dunno what to do. I love the game, but i dont enjoy it if i play more than 15 minutes online. I end up mad because i cant compete with these people. I dont even like any of the characters anymore. I probably should just sell it, but like i said, its a great game and i really do like it. But playing the CPU is not fun for me. Been there and done that. I really dont know.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The input lag is just way too inconsistent in the game. Oh well, I'm finding it more fun to play with people I know or player matches.

I just tried to play some more online. But its like if i play player matches and win the first match, they kick me out. Why not at least face me three times. Same stuff happened back when i played MK armageddon online with my ps2. Its like i either fight people that are way better and keep losing, but id at least fight someone 3 times in a row or more. Or id fight someone where i would win the first match and they would leave or kick me out right away. There doesnt seem to be a middle ground unless you have friends that play this game.
