Got my CE from GS today, and I finished the movie. It was nothing spectacular but not a waste of time to watch. Sort of wish it were just on a DVD though; it didn't seem very HD to me. Just looked like an upconverted DVD...

I am impressed overall with the CE, the figurine I like despite a lot of complaints about it. I expected for it to be that small, so that could have something to do with my liking of it. It'll go nicely (along with the headband) with my collection of various game-related collectibles.

I'm going to be playing the game in a few and will post impressions later.
 
I guess I worried too much about it. It's not to say it's the easiest thing in the world to do. It took a good 6-7 tries, but I did it. I've also gotten the point where I don't lose in Arcade Mode anymore.
 
I just got this and cracked it open and god damn.

I might have to invest in a fight stick...the 360 pad seems horrid for this. Everything seems mushy.....maybe I am just used to PS2 controllers though.
 
Called a few Best Buys (so as to not waste gas, as noted above)...all of them said they didn't get it today, neither the CE or the standard version. I'd go elsewhere but Best Buy is where I have gift cards for, so I can wait.

Was going to ask anyone who had the CE about the movie, whether it was decent or not. Saw a couple of comments above but any more feedback would be great since I'm undecided on the version I'm buying. Zew and Cheapy have both said the music isn't anything special so I'm not too drawn to the fact it has a soundtrack disc. Also, I know the CE has a couple of costume DLC gimmicks as part of the deal, does anyone know who the costumes are for and if they're the same as the ones that are going to be released on the marketplace? (sorry if this was already discussed, looked through the last few pages and saw nothing)

I did that "improve your 360 d-pad" thing where you insert the piece of plastic in there and sand out the d-pad area a little bit and it made a minor improvement, so I guess I'll put up with that until I drop the cash for the HRAP sometime down the road.

Well if you're modding it anyway it doesn't matter, the issues are mostly with the crap MadCatz sticks and buttons inside it which you'll replace anyway.

CPU Abel is a cheeser. You get behind him close, throws ya every time.

CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION: DO NOT read messages from friends while watching the cutscenes. Your system will freeze/potentially crash. This has happened twice to me so far.
 
Well this pisses me off. I have had the stick preordered on Amazon from the day it went up on the site and see that they are now out of stock and mine was not going to ship till the 25th. I called a gamecrazy and I paid almost 14 bucks more after tax but have it today and the LE version of the game they will get tomorrow and I may be able to get it if they get enough. If not I guess I will keep my preorder. I hope they don't sell out after they get them in so I can get this. I'm so pissed at amazon right now. This is just one more stupid thing added to what happend yesterday of just stupid stuff that is not a big deal but just enough to piss one off.

Well I'm done venting. Atleast I have my stick and it was the last one for the 360 also. If I can't get the LE tomorrow I have other fighters I can play using this stick.
 
this game is so fun. I was going to pick up one of those Horri EX Fighting stick (for VF5) for this but only one available according to GS.com locator is an hour and a half away T.T i'll just have to stick to controller for now.

It's a 360 game that only plays the video.

They made it a 360 game so it will display in 720/1080p, because if it was a DVD it would only be 480p.

And they didn't make it a HD-DVD because not everyone has that and it's a dead format.

None of those unfortunately. It seems to be a data DVD that can only be played on the Xbox 360?. Would have been nice if was dual sided disc with one side data dvd and the other HD-DVD.

I don't see why you're complaining about Amazon--almost every retailer seems to be getting screwed by Capcom's/Madcatz's poor production and distribution of this game (and surrounding accessories).
 
I played for about an hour. Loved every second of it. However, I was playing through Arcade Mode and kept getting challenges from random peple on Live, and it slowed down the unlocking process.

When I start the game back up, I'm turning that shit off.

Also, I need to get a fuckin stick. I wish I could use my custom PS2 stick, but there aren't ay decent PS2 to 360 cnverters out there.
 
How do you Unlock new Characters????

I played on Easy with Ken 1 round matches just to see who that Unlocks, I beat SETH but it didn't unlock anyone???

what gives??

Akuma: After unlocking Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 2 perfects and 2 Ultra Finishes.

Cammy: beat arcade mode with Crimson Viper

Dan: beat arcade mode with Sakura

Fei Long: beat arcade mode with Abel

Gen: beat arcade mode with Chun-Li

Gouken: After unlocking Akuma, Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 2 perfects and 3 Ultra Finishes.

Rose: beat arcade mode with M.Bison

Sakura: beat arcade mode with Ryu

Seth: beat game with all the other characters

I could see if I just preordered a few weeks ago however I preordered when the stick was first put on amazon and before they had it listed for today. It was long ago that I think I should have been in the first shipment. Same with the game. I'm going to check tomorrow on the game and if I can find it great if not then I'm just going to hold off till mine from amazon comes in. Like I said I don't see why I should have to wate another week for it to even ship when I preordered when they first put them up.

kinda a technical SF noob, but what are the advantages and advantages of using say.. short punch vs fierce?

i know like their moves are farther or stronger if u use fierce, but are there any advantages/disadvantages?
 
I knew I wouldnt really like this game going into it. I only got it as a party game with my friends. I just never liked this style of fighter. I am more of a marvel vs capcom guy.

But after playing like 2 hours of it and doing nothing other than completely sucking there is some other things I dont really like about it.

All of the backgrounds suck....I dont know what it is but I really dislike looking at them. Its SF so it really needs no back story really but what is up with all the cut scenes in this game that make no sense? Maybe I am just not up on SF story but was Ken's baby really that imporant to make a cut scene from?

The game is solid dont get me wrong..I guess I was just expecting a little more from a 8 year gap. Again, its solid but its not like my eyes melted from pure awesomeness after I put the disk in.

I finally beat seth with Ken...and that will probably be the last time I go through arcade mode. I just dont have the will, time or patience to try to out wit computer programming. Automatic 7 hit combos...Teleporting all over the place...5 second pile driver move along with a 10 second suction move? Oh, and dont forget the ability to cancel any move he wants at what seems like anytime.

Naw $$$$a I am good, I would rather not chuck my controller into my tv. I thought we left that type of stuff back in 1995.

I will let one of my friends or little cousins spend the time unlocking people.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I am going to have to pick up some sticks for this also. Playing with the 360 controller is hell. I keep jumping when trying to do 1/4 circule moves for some reason...thus messing up all my combos.

It was sort of a joke. Since you basically had nothing good to say about the game, but you're going to buy 2 sticks for it.

Seth is supposed to be cheap/hard. He's a boss character. Hardly anyone who is into these games plays it for arcade mode. 2p Vs. is the main reason.
 
Nostalgia has really taken a firm hold in me with this game. I've been playing for about 3 hours and I really am enjoying the game. All my (weak) SFII skills appear to be getting me through aracade and helped me win a few online matches (although someone did quit out as I was ultra finishing them to death).

I think that the best part of this game is that the competition right now is full of people like me - those who played SFII to death, and then followed fighting games in a causal manner for the next 10-15 years. This even playing field makes online matches fun and exciting because I may win some here and there. This is a great game!!

I do fear for what it will be like in the coming future when many of the more causal players move on and I'm left with the hardcore fighting fans. I attempted to watch all the super advanced moves and I still don't understand the lingo, let alone the move set. I hope that there will be a causal group that I can follow along with for months to come and not have this become "halo like" (where you are dead 20 times within 30 seconds and ultimately quit).

How do I get into the CAG fighting night thing (hoping that I can find people of comparable skill and enjoy my time with them).

Yeah...it might have sounded that way but I didnt intend for that. Like I said the game is solid...seems like there should be more to it but its still a good fighting game.

Oh, I realize seth is suppose to be cheap....but we all as gamers have a line that cant be crossed. And seth not only crosses my line he runs a mile past it.


Like I said though...good party game..my friends love fighters and its the only genre that they will more than likely beat me at. Good deal none the less.
 
I love this game. Its amazing, from the graphics (yes the backgrounds too) and the animation.

The anime stuff is pretty crappy as far as animation goes and I'd like to see the player rooms from Super Turbo HD, other than that, I'm diggin beating up on noobs and getting new titles. :)

Guile is way different for me so I've made Balrog my player of choice in Versus.

I've unlocked every character already

its funny i remember SSBB being released and every like 10 mins there was an update or fake photo of who was on the final cast and who we could play as....:D

too bad SF4 didnt have like one character they didnt announce woulda made it a bit more fun
 
That's not a spoiler, Broly.

I picked up my 360 CE today from GameStop. I watched the anime movie and really enjoyed it. The story could take place right after the SF2 animated movie, besides the more budget art style. The movie's main theme music is Ryu's classic stage music, which is the first time an SF anime has used real SF2 music. I loved the interaction between the main characters, who are all old friends. C.Viper was fairly interesting too. I guess watching a crappy pirated version on YouTube is OK, but the video looked really sharp on the CE disc. Including the soundtrack, costume pack, and tiny figurine, it was well worth the extra $20.

Didn't get to play the game yet cause I had to work, darn it.

Both times were on Easy what is going on ???

Does it have to be on Medium??

jab has a higher frame startup than fierce does, likewise a higher frame recovery.

this means u can either land an attack before an opponent has the time to block, or you can recover fast enough from an attack to block if your opponent tries to counter you.

also, combos. To do combos requires specific attacks, you can combo jab jab but cant combo fierce fierce

omg... LOWER startup and recovery. lol, not higher... a higher frame count is a disadvantage
 
I'm liking the new mechanics they added. Overall I'm really satisfied with it, but wonder if they'll release 5 versions down the road ;)

well first learn how to play the game before trying to understand the mechanics,

mechanics will not make any sense unless u understand the game first
