^Yeah that's why I always start the round out with Rose's soul throw :)
It works like 80% of the time. Sometimes they don't jump.
Every match I get into the other person always-always starts it off with a jump into a roundhouse kick and they always miss.
so true. thats why I always start with a dragon punch or any other anti air attacks. lol

finished gouken's normal trials last night.

so I got left:
18 time and survival trials to redo
30 normal moves
120 hard moves

plus the ridiculous feat of getting 506 wins for a title and icon.

I need to start playing shorter matches so I can get some more win by decision victories online. only got the 1 for the trophy but I need more to unlock the title and icon.

Hit me up Kenpachi if you ever want to medal stuff (we can trade off perfects and win by decisions) for titles/icons.

Had my 500th match last night. Shame it was a disconnect.

works for me :) we can set them for 5 round matches and fight out the last 3 like normal. :)
I still have to get 5 titles and icons seperately of finishing normal and move challenges and they are:

-30 perfect victories
-30 Chip damages victories
-30 time victories
-301 wins
-506 wins

I will get the last 2 eventually, but right now I am more concerned with the first 3

If the source on gamefaqs is correct, thats what you need to unlock the 5 rarest online titles and icons.

on a side note. I must say again these move challenges are so frustrating. the youtube videos help, but whoever thought to put these in the game was a real jerk and a real lonely s.o.b. these challenges will never compensate for the lack of the seeing it in action at the arcade.

I have now figured out how to play Fuerte good. Use a fight stick. It's impossible to use him to full potential with the game pad. You NEED to be able to focus and throw while being able to charge a Quesadilla Bomb. Quesadilla Bomb = Better Anti-air than Fuerte's anti air throw

My biggest problem with El Fuerte is that I instinctively want to do his run with kick, so in the heat of battle I walk back and forth throwing out kicks

It can be extremely satisfying to just run circles around your opponent :D

OMG! Probaly old news by now but Capcom said if enough people demand it, they'll add T-Hawk and DeeJay via DLC. Best part is they already made the 3D models the characters, it's just a matter of drawing up the skins for them. Why we need to beg I don't understand. They should just do it. It's only logical to add the other half of the New Challengers.

i don't think they'll add any dlc characters unless they were free. I think Capcom has stated before that they won't introduce any dlc that will give anyone an advantage over another (using a character that the other person cannot get unless they pay for it) or something like that. They want to keep the playing field completely leveled out. Which is a shame cuz I feel the game could use some more new original characters. And some more female characters. lol

I should've put more effort into playing online matches but 10 more matches until I finally get the 100 online wins. Was just fighting some guy in a player match and it was 6-0 for me but he kept wanting to fight, gotta applaud him since I thought that he'd eventually disconnect.

Oh, and I think the least they could have done was put in a little CPU demonstration for the Move Trials just to help people get a better understanding of the certain time requirements between each move in a combo.

Has anyone tried el fuerte 3rd hard trial?

I can get up to the 3rd light punch using a dualshock 3 but it's tough. It would take 2 seconds with a turbo function I think. It looks easy but..

Damn it, I just realized that I have about 70 more matches to play before I get the 200 online matches trophy.
I feel like playing some Random Character Select matches with people.

I got the game on Monday and was surprised to find myself challenged between every single match as I tried to make it through story mode the first time. I won my first match (first time I played the game!) playing as Rufus against a Ryu. I lost three more matches (though won one round in each) before I finally figured out how to turn off the online play.

So yeah, it's taking some time to get used to the game but I think I'm managing. I've played through the initial sixteen characters, most on medium difficulty. El Fuerte gave me the most difficulty - even on easiest difficulty, 30 second rounds, and one round it still took me nearly an hour and a half to beat Seth.

Finally, I never really got beyond SSFII in the arcades. I've not played any iteration of SFIII. Does anyone have some thoughts/hints/ideas on cancelling moves? I'm having a difficult time making it through the character challenges.

Yeah, the fight requests would be a lot more useful if you could set it to friends only.

 at the "patch".
I'm okay with people constantly choosing Ken but it's annoying when they try some feeble attempt to play mind games at the character select screen, like just go ahead and choose your Ken so you don't waste my time with hovering over random characters before finally going to Ken at the last moment.

I just follow their cursor around to fuck with them... only when I see someone pick a non Ken quick I usually expect a decent match... or if the load time is short.

:rofl:I should try that.

I just hover on and go back and forth between Sim and Seth when I see that.

Anyone else play Gen here? I'm trying to pick him up. He has a great cross up game but I'm having issues with finding some B&B combos and ways to get in safely.

Exactly the same thing I do. Either the person picks a character after following their cursor or they end up playing around, hover over a character and stay there for a long period of time. When this happens, I just pick my character :)

I love it when they hover over a character like Vega or Fei Long and then you pick your character and then they go straight for Ken.

haha I notice that too. Pretty funny

Yea..sometimes I feel like plugging in my mic just to say "go ahead i know your picking ken.." to hurry things along.

I was just playing some ranked matches, and the majority of the people I faced chose Ken, my wife kept asking why do they always do that (referring to the heavy Shoryuken)

i find that players in player matches are more of a challenge and choose a wider variety of characters than in ranked matches. In ranked matches they almost always go for Ken or Ryu, but just in one session of player matches I've seen people pick Vega, Fei Long, Bison, Sagat, Cammy, Chun Li etc etc

Because it does average damage and is majorly punishable on block and whiff obviously. And cause it's on fire! FIRE! TO THE EXTREME!!! TRY THIS ON FOR SIZE!!!!

I actually like the character Ken. I don't play as him though cause I find Shoto play style kinda boring. Easy to learn and effective but boring.

Yeah, scratch that thought about people starting off matches with jump to roundhouses, people always start off the match with a jump into a trip.

Woke up early in the morning and played a bunch of matches half asleep, lost to a scrubby Ryu during my first match so that's kind of disgraceful.

Now that I've got my 100 wins, it's time to screw around with characters like Gen or Gouken.

Goukens pretty awesome. I finally decided to unlock him a couple days ago and his hard move trials are a breeze. His moves connect into each other so easy.

I need to fill the void of not having a copy of Killzone 2, lets play some random character select matches tonight.

lol yeah I haven't picked up KZ2 yet either due to lack of $$. sounds awesome I'm always on around 9:30pm EST til like midnight or so

Anyone notice whenever someone is Akuma the MOMENT they get a super or ultra they jump back and start inputting the raging demon? Even if they're doing good they MUST do it like the game depends on the fact that they can do the raging demon? I imagine it to be something like this.

I just think it look cool.

Yeah, the moment they get an Ultra/Super you see them quickly punch twice and kick while retreating. That's when you rush in and kick ass since they're so focused on trying to do the Raging Demon. Kinda pointless though since most of the time you just jump up and over them.

Probably a good thing to use if you're Akuma in a match, just fool people into jumping towards you without having to constantly throw fireballs, throw a couple of jabs and a kick then counter them when they jump in.

Not sure how I feel about SFIV , I got my ass kicked 12 times straight by chun li. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about . So I loaded her up in training mode, apparently there is a jump in target string where you mash fierce punch repeatedly and will easily buffer effortlessly to spinning bird kick .
Which is a shame cuz I feel the game could use some more new original characters. And some more female characters. lol
I'm not liking the original characters much. Feels too much like Samurai Showdown and King of Fighters style character design. I would rather they put all the good guys from Final Fight in there. A Haggar outfit for Zangief is a slap in the face. JUST fuckING GIVE ME HAGGAR! More female characters would be cool. Maybe Ibuki, Karin as a rival for Sakura, R Mika so there's a female grappler. I kinda wish they just used Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the character set. So we'd have Charlie, Rolento, etc. too, but I guess it makes sense to hold them off until Street Fighter V, or Street Fighter IV Super Turbo Dash MAX Championship Edition.

It's a requirement for the Akuma players

Yeah some people go like this

Apparently El Fuerte has an infinite combo but it's really tough to do.

This has been known for a while, before it even came out on consoles. Fei has one too up against specific characters.

Remember that SFA3 was before SFII, then SFIV and SFIII.

Charlie is supposed to be dead since he was holding off Bison to let Guile escape. Chun-Li planted explosives on Shadaloo base and Charlie sacrificed himself.

Mike Haggar might have been running Metro City during SFA3. If they were to put him in SFIV, his moves would have been too similar to Zangief. Both of them taught each other the spinning piledriver and spinning lariat.

Might I suggest that everyone watch "Rufus MADNESS" video's from darksydephil on YouTube purely for the comic genius. The comedy from a scrub playing scrubs and out scrubbing them.

Its actually not HP cancel. It's Haberno Dash>Stop(LP)>HP repeat. You have to do 3 loops of it for his level 5 hard challenge.

edit: I just learned it can be done either way. My bad. Which makes it interesting. Sorta.

Since when did Capcom's continuity matter though? They have so much retcon anyway. As far as spinning piledriver/lariat being redundant, that's irrelevant given the shoto moveset. I'd settle for those characters being added in with no story mode extras. Just highlighting Guile or Haggar, for example, and having a toggle button to swap between extra characters without requiring a new character select screen. Then they're in the game as bonus characters, not plot characters.

ok got 14 challenges to redo, 23 normal move trials, and still 120 hard moves to pull off:

8 time trials 5 normal and 3 hard
6 survival trials 1 normal and 5 hard

plus like 250 more wins to get that 506 title and icon.

how in the heck do you pull off vega's 4th trial the 3rd combo?

I can never get the ex wall jump to come out after the kick.

and why is gen's level 5 trial killing me on the 3rd one?

Just got my fightpad a couple min ago. Had some awesome matches with Godlyone earlier. Every match was really close but he won most of them! :)

Can't wait to try the fightpad out tonight.

I think I am the worst player out there 26 wins out of 78 matches (i think it also because my friend and I kept dropping connections on at least 5 matches). 34% win percentage.... I hope to improve when I get my joystick back.

38%

I fuck around too much and try new characters online all the time. I don't stay with a single one unlike most others.
