Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
Last one on your list? Like your friends list? what's qq mean? I'm totally lost.
Yea no one on my friends list is on right now. As for qq it's like crying see the round part of the q is the eye and the flag part is the tear. Welcome to silly internet lingo 101 :D
Ah I get it. Yeah sorry I bailed, but I need to unlock sonic. My goal for the day.
understandable, I finished all my unlocks last night.

Good games to the two people I just played with. If you can't tell, the only character I'm good with is Toon Link at the moment :D

Well, I'm also good with Captain Falcon, but not as good. I usually pick random.

I kept playing as Samus by accident because I forgot to hold down the shield on character select and it wouldn't let me select again. I really wish you could set her as default...

To who I was playing last night: (I was G.Red or Gun)

Aaron: I think the lag you were telling me about is coming from you since you said you always get it and our matches had horrible lag - one match even dropped. I rarely get lag otherwise. I had to stop after the second match because it was lagging too much to be playable.

I forgot the name of the other player, but we fought 1-on-1 stock matches really late. I had to go, but thanks for the matches. You might be a bit too good for me though. I don't think I was giving you a good enough challenge, but hopefully I'll get better.

Maybe people should also post their skill levels with their friends codes, so we can find others in our own skill range.
The Electroplankton level is, by far, the best level in SSBB.
It's awesome. Did you ever play Electroplankton? Such a great game. Too bad it's impossible to get a copy cheap nowadays.
You can always pirate it though
just kidding. Never pirate games. It's against most countries's laws.
Pirate it. It's awesome.
And then buy it.
That should keep the feds off of my tail.

I actually like that idea, but will it be based on numbers, say 1-10? or 1-100? Or maybe the Brawl Computer ratings, such as Puny, Wimpy, Weak, etc

I got killed by HDfuckingTV. There was a massive input lag that no one else noticed. It was so bad I almost paused it the first round to say that my controller was broken. And I was the best person there by a wide margin too.

fucking HD.

Pretty sure that was me you were playing Gunstar, I think it was around 3 or 4 a.m. cst. Good games, I'd say we were pretty even for the most part, but it seemed like smash balls kept gravitating towards me for most of our fights. I don't recall, did we lag much? I don't think we did, but it was 4 in the morning :)

Using component or composite cables?

no idea. Knowing Gamestop, it would've most likely been composite.

I cant believe how insensitive most people are to scaling lag or whatever the hell it is.

The evidence (all my bad connections) would seem to suggest that the lag is coming from my end, and to add to that, system updates take FOREVER (10 minutes at least). But I don't know why my connection should be so poor; I've got a fast cable connection. My router is a LinkSys WRT54G, and the signal seems to be pretty strong throughout the house.

Any recommended testing/troubleshooting methods?

I hear great things about it. I'll probably pick it up this summer when I'm not broke as shit.

The level is incredible though. I love everything about it.

You must not be a skilled player. I just got the game and hope my hd tv doesn't ruin my experience like it does with VC games.

I agree about the Electroplankton level being amazing.

I remember when there was that stint where everyone was screaming about how all the levels were too generic and the same. Oh how wrong everyone was.

Wow. You couldn't be more wrong on both accounts.

Hey all,

Had to leave town for a while (there's a thread explaining the reason why if you want to look hard enough for it, which shouldn't require much effort at all).

Good games with all the people I played with last night. Looking forward to getting back soon and throwin' down.

I'll also add those who have asked me for an FC when I get a chance.

Indeed.

I haven't played around with the level designer at all, but from what I've seen of the 20 or so levels my friend has made, it seems pretty generic in terms of what you can put into the environment. You can't set up levels that move; you use a lot of boxes/platforms/etc.

Either that, or he's as creative as a brick.

Yeah, add me you bastard ;).

Anyway, what is up with the FC updating in this game? It seems way worse than Mario Strikers. I have to assume those who PM'd me first saying they added me DID in fact do so. I added all those people in 3-4 days ago and have been on several times since then and about half still aren't registered. Same goes for 5-6 other people I sent PMs too who replied and said they would add me (though perhaps they haven't or haven't been on enough since then).

Anyway, here it is mid-Saturday 6 days after release and I only see one person on (who is spectating). I'd like to get in a game against CAGs so I can get soundly beaten ;). My son tried some random battles and he held his own, I was impressed (he's 5). He's probably better than me though - I still have no idea what I'm doing, I just press stuff like crazy. I think I will never get over the fact that X and Y are jump buttons when it should be A. I've never gotten used to that in SSBM and probably never will with Brawl. It is just wierd. And forget about dashing, rolling and all that other stuff.

Anyway, here's a partial list (from memory) of people I've added who still aren't showing up: Suko, Botticus, Daroga, IKohn, Scorch, GizmoGC, Ramstoria, MusicNoteLess... There's lots more but the Wii is in the other room. I only have about 6 people reg'd.

Edit - to contrast, though, I JUST added Yukine a few minutes ago and he went "active" almost immediately. Wierd that the people who PM'd me a while back saying they added me haven't though.

io -

I speculated on it a few posts back, but my thinking is that it doesn't register until you and the other person both get connected to Wifi at the same time.

That seems to be the most probable explanation, as outlandish and outdated as it sounds.

Brawl's online mode is easily the biggest disappointment to come in a while. I either get booted because it can't find the game, it can't cnonect to the host, or in the case of trying to play against naes, it connects, they brawl, I wait, they select their character, then BAM! "Unable to join game".

I just unlocked events 21-40. I assume there is no more then that?

Someone talked about how limited the create a stage is, and i agree. I even unlocked Edit parts A and it still looks the same. I dont even know what parts were added. Only 3 backgrounds, just seems all so gay. Why even put it in there if its this limited? I would rather have a few more actual designed levels then this.

Another thing that is limited is your trophy room. When you want to take a pic of your trophies, you can only select 4, a background which is 4 different ones, then take a pic. You know i got excited when it said i could arrange them the way i see fit, and its not really that at all. Unless im missing something?

If you didn't see it in the OTT, lemme know what you work out with your Austin gathering, DMK.
A friend and I might be interested, especially since the Cedar Park one is too far away for both of us.

If anyone is in San Antonio there is a small tournament at 7 this evening.

And a BIG one tomorrow also in San Antonio at 2 pm:

Trader's Planet

Its the serious kind though, with entry fees involved.

I don't believe that is the case from my experience. I've had two or three friend codes that instantly showed up as registered once I added them to my system, and none of them were online at that time. So I don't think you need to be connected at the same time, but as to why it doesn't register right away when you both have it is anyone's guess.

Oy... That's, uh, horrendous ;). I don't think Strikers worked that way in that I ended up getting pretty much everyone I signed up active and I find it hard to believe I was on simultaneously with all of them.

I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter since, obviously, you can't play unless they are on anyway. But it would help weed out the deadbeats from the people who you just haven't synced up with timewise if it would mark which have reciprocated.

I have another question - I have one person with a red dot at the upper right of their entry (and they are not connected yet). What is that?
how do i get it? :D
beat all of the other single player events. You can do them on easy and still get it.

Good games Scorch, Buttle and Troy (sorry I don't know your CAG name :p).

Oh, Troy, sorry about the last match. I had to go eat so I just let the game sit so you and AJS could fight without me ending the match.

Run.
Okay, maybe that's not so helpful. If you've played Pikmin, you should know what to do. If not, use Olimar's b to get 6 Pikmin. Then just make sure they don't die and in a minute or so, the Pikmin's head's will flower. Success!
