Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Damn.

Speaking of prat falls, who else misses all the little bonuses you got post-battle in Melee? "Switzerland", "Crowd Favourite", "Vegetarian", etc.
 
Yeah, I wish they still had those. It was fun trying to achieve the sillier ones and still actually winning matches in Melee. Grabbing opponents and not doing anything 10 3 times was awesome.


Favorite new character/Why?
ROB. Seems like there's no love for our robot friend here =/. I thought he was crap at first, too, but he's pretty beastly. Most of his A-airs are damn nice (forward air

Hi Dr. Nick (hmm joke doesn't work without " Hi Everbody")

I think it should start out as regional and expand from there, sort of like the stanely cup fianls. Besides the lag it would make it easier to set up a fight tiem since people's days would be 3 hours off if it was national.

I also think we should set up a some rules, such as "is c-smash allowed?".

Also is there a way to spectate friend codes matches, so we could watch the finals? or would that create too much lag?
 
Good games to both sasukekun and, sorry I don't know your sn, 'Aaron.' They were all great matches. Sorry I only use Dedede. :p

Oh, and Aaron, that last stage on Electroplankton-ville - I hope I didn't offend you by killing myself off twice. It's just that, clearly, those two deaths were abnormal. So I thought I'd even things up. I can just imagine you hitting random, and getting that stage.
 
Arikado, good games man. That was actually the first time I used DDD with a GameCube controller so I felt I did kinda bad so I hope you don't think I'm terrible!

Nah man, you played fine. There was a bit of delay, too, so it's all good. We'll have to play again in the future when you get used to that controller a bit more... hopefully the connection will be a little more clear, too. Pretty sweet Snake self destruct, huh? :lol: I did the same thing last night against Beef.

Good games to everyone else that joined that room, too. That freakin' Donkey Kong stage is a big game of cat and mouse. If you guys are still playing in a bit, I'll join back up. Hopefully the connection clears up. I'm gonna take a bit of a break.

Hmmm now im starting to think you get a pokemon trophy everytime you beat classic with the trainer. At first i didnt think so, since it showed the trainer trophy when i beat it with squirtle. But i just looked at my trophies and i had the trainer and a squirtle trophy.

Yes it was. Did you save a replay of this? I'd love to compare techniques. Though I believe we probably did it the exact same way.

I was Gun or G.Red on Brawl. If it was me, then I played one 4-Way with Lan and then a 1-vs-1 with somebody else and then everyone left. A good solid two matches though. Add me if that was me you were fighting.

Sometimes when I'm on the computer, I'll leave Spectator Mode on in the background and bet coins in-between rounds.

HINT: Always bet on Ike. He wins almost every time. I won 433 coins in one match betting on him.

You can also rack up free stickers too. I won a 10-sticker pack once. I rarely sit and watch them, although on occassion there is a match with some seriously good (and not cheap) players.

I've got 00:20:75 with Fox. Trying to clean it all up and get that under 20 seconds.

I just clocked in 50 hours of gameplay, and I have yet to get a Nintendogs assist trophy!

Makes me think my copy of the game is missing it or something! hahaha

Wow. I did it with Mario and it took me 00:31:90.

If there's a reward for doing it faster, I'll revisit it with Fox.
 
I just finished unlocking all the chars myself this saturday. Glad to have that done the last stage was pretty boring :/.
 
I just got my copy on Saturday and I know I'm way behind by getting it a week late haha. Quick question, did I miss something or are the individual Target stages removed? If so that makes me a sad panda.

I ended up doing target smash 4 with Toon Link in about 22 seconds. My one snag is the 2 targets on the bottom right portion of the screen, as I hit the other 8 targets in about 12 seconds.

There's no real reward after getting the "under 32 seconds" trophy.

I saw a Fox on Youtube get a 19.XX seconds record, going a completely different route than I did. Targets in the bottom-left were the ones (in my way) that slowed me down a bit, and the spot where I think I can cut a bit more time off.
 
Favorite new character/Why?
Pit. He can fly, he's from an awesomely underappreciated game, and has a new, revamped feel while still being balanced when compared to the classic Smash Bros characters.

Least favorite new character/Why?
Lucario. I never liked the way Mew-Two played in Melee and Lucario is no different.

Favorite new stage/Why?
WarioWare. It adds a whole new element of awesome to the gameplay. Plus, it emphasizes the new Wario from the WarioWare series as opposed to "Oooh, I'm evil looking Mario" Wario. The WarioWare games, to me, finally gave Wario a new identity as a character that I really enjoyed. This was a welcome addition for me. The Mario Kart stage was a close second, just because it's so much fun.

Least favorite new stage/Why?
Rumble Falls. An entire level where fighting is almost thrown out the window with how fast you just have to keep jumping up and up and up.

Favorite Final Smash?
Link. For pure looks -- when he pulls it off, it looks amazing and destroys your opponent.

Least favorite final smash?
Donkey Kong. The bongos? Come on.

Fav Assist Trophy?
Little Mac. Because I wish he was a playable character and this is as close as it gets.

Least favorite Assist Trophy?
Mr. Resetti. He's just as irritating as he is in Animal Crossing and it doesn't add enough to the game to seem worth it, to me.
 
I'm really new to the game having only played Melee "seriously" about a week or two before Brawl launched. I've been playing as Pit almost exclusively online for some reason because I really like his playing style. He is definitely not the strongest character, but I like his maneuverability and ability to survive after getting absolutely blasted off the stage.

This game is so much fun.

Every match I play online there's an Ike, Marth, or Link. Ugh.
 
My friend's friend was always Ike when the 3 of us played. I got frustrated with him so I played as Marth and whooped him. I don't really care for the swordplay because it allows a really big range of motion that can make up for lesser players IMO. Though swords are badass too....

Since im new to Smash I have some problems turning around I like Ike cause his up 2 smash hits behind him too. Is there any other chars that are like that?

This game is so much fun.[/quote]I started off with him almost exclusively but I tend not to play so well with him in brawls for some reason. Lucas is almost assuredly going to be my main character unless I start finding more things to like with some of the characters I unlocked through SSE.

HAHA, yeah the joke only works if I start out with "hi everybody" lol

yeah, we could set up brackets like the NCAA (have 4 regions)

I don't think you can turn off the C-smash, and saying "no C-smash allowed" would basically be impossible to police. I'd be down for what my friends refer to as a "Gentleman's game" (no items)
but I'd really do either, I'd just vote to NOT use new pork city (I HATE this map, and hate the camera.. everyone is so damn small.)

My idea was also to do a regional thing, and winners from the regional brackets would meet up, etc, etc. The only thing I wasn't sure of is items, since different people like different item settings. People can agree on stages, and whatever. Seems like a lazy approach, I know, but it works.
 
Alright, so I guess we'll start a tournament. Does anyone want to be the "host" of the tournament? We could use the 2nd post in the friend code thread to post all the information and discuss it here. Oh, and by the way, the two tournaments should be one after the other so people could compete in both.
