Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
I'd be down for a DS Smash Bros. game. We already know that type of game could work since they did it with the Jump Superstar series in Japan. They could even go the 2d sprite route, which I imagine would look awesome. Use the touch screen for c-sticking, or even for holding on to items or assist trophies for use later in fights. The possibilities are endless

I imagine a SBDS won't be too far off, anyway. The money Nintendo will make would be astounding.
Yea they could do it with Sprites. It would give the DS some processing room to do some crazy 3-d effects. So what do we need to do to get Nintendo to do a Super Smash Brothers DS?
Whats the weirdest thing that has happened to you so far?

I was playing a game in the pirate ship level and then about 10 of those "Donkey Kong" hammers poped up all over the stage.

Just now I was just playing all-star mode and there was a pokemon ball and i got it and through it and this pokemon came out and flew away. But they left a CD and about 10 stickers laying around. I was able to grab them all. Once i finished all-star mode a news announcement thing said "You encountered Jirachi for the first time! Make a wish!". lol
Tingle (an assist trophy) does weird things like the hammers. He can also make every have the spicy curry effect.

3 pokemon have special effects. Jirachi leaves a bunch of stickers, Celebi leaves trophies and Mew leaves CDs. I think the last two leave 3 of each while Jirachi leaves like 6 stickers.

I finally got a chance to sit down and play some SSBB and I am working on the last Event with Giant Mario, Snake, and Sonic and am playing as Sonic. I HATE GIANT MARIO!! If you are in the air, he'll spike you dead! But if I can just kill him off, Snake and Sonic should be a piece of cake (or pie for those who prefer :D) I love that after you use Sonic's recovery move, you can do that meteor kick thing and can really mess some people up!

Hey IKohn, I had some great matches tonight. I feel like we were fairly evenly matched. I needed to leave though so I could actually go to bed to get to work on time tomorrow.

I got my Wii back today, so I finally get to play Brawl. For how long... who knows, when I started it up it, on the very first try it still froze before going to the opening movie. It's fine now though, so hopefully whatever Nintendo did will keep working.

The game itself is good, though most of the hype I had for it died when it wouldn't load on the 9th. I'm just working on getting all the characters first, but I can say of the new characters I've tried, I like Olimar & the Pokemon Trainer(mainly for Squirtle & Charizard, Ivysaur not so much).

I don't know who it was. After you left there was still a fair bit of lag. Meh.

All this lagging is making me nervous for the upcoming tournaments.
It is my understanding that to run/dash/whatever it is called you have to be moving a direction and then somehow tap the stick rapidly in the same direction. This is what I saw in the tutorials on SSBM and never quite got. Either it never works for me or I just can't tell the difference between walking and running. Or is this "dash" the thing I find annoying on the home run challenge where I try to nudge myself over to the bag but instead seemingly "dash" or warp right through it and end up on the wrong side? If so, then I've been doing it all along ;). If that's the case, then how do you move normally?
let me see if i can clarify it any better... i might make it more confusing.

a "smash" is flicking the stick in a direction as fast as possible. you can do it from neutral or from walking. you do a smash attack by pressing the A button immediately afterward. in terms of notation, a smash attack forward is an Fsmash, upward is Usmash, etc. i personally like to use the c-stick to smash... it's more accurate and you don't waste any frames charging.

to do a dash, smash in any horizontal direction and return it to neutral.
to run, smash in any direction and hold it. anytime you press A during a dash or a run, you'll do a running attack.

the "walking" attack that the crotch refers to is more commonly known as a "tilt" attack. tilt the stick slightly in a direction and attack. so an upward tilt would be known as a Utilt, forward tilt being Ftilt, etc.

I doubt anyone is still reading the Dojo, but Sakurai's comments about Ganondorf are seriously some of the funniest ones ever.

He takes out the sword he stole from the six Sages and takes a look at it. ... Then puts it away. What are you putting it away for? Use it! People tend to make fun of Ganondorf for this.

 I read that this morning. The funniest part is I was saying the exact same thing yesterday when I beat all-star mode with him.

Strell, up for a game now?

I would be happy to unsmirk your smirkified face, but sadly, I am not near my system at the moment.

I am in space, broadcasting directly from my mind. The Galactic Council called a meeting today, as we are discussing the best way to eradicate the Garzonian Fleets from Sector 54.

Also it was Bill's birthday. We had cupcakes! BIG ones!

I also really like the fact that Sakurai made fun of Ganondorf's body, calling it "middle aged," and pointing out that he huffs and puffs when he runs.

Pbhhbbht. I aint skrrd. Ask anyone else.

You're on Spring Break, aye? Don't worry. There will be plenty of chances to settle your hashcakes, junior.

Decent games. Really laggy so it was good for trying out some new guys. Also, since it looked like you didn't know, you can aim that fireworks cannon by pushing up and down instead of having to run ontop of the person and firing lol.

yea those were some good games. the last one seemed like it took forever. some of the characters werent very responsive because of the lag. thx for the tip on the canon, i usually end up throwing it at people.

I also don't have all the songs, so he should've dropped SOMETHING.

Lucas is sitting in a room and administering a great beating to Mr. Sandbag, and has been for a while now. I can taunt the fucker off the screen if I want.

Fun games guys. A little laggier than most of the matches I have played lately, but still fun. I recorded the first match. The sudden death demise of Strell was hilarious.

No, it was

LAME.

Notice the need for size=7 brackets.

Good games Ikohn, sir Arthur, and Beefaroid.

On now. And I see a Strell.

Oh and a question. I have a friend awaiting registration, yet I have a ping ball next to his name. Does this mean we anonymously battled at some point? That's kinda cool if so.

Man, it is impossible to play a laggy game with a big character. The moment you start falling off, you've already buffered 2-3 attacks, so you can't recover. It's just impossible.

I'm going to get you for that, CK.

Yea, the game itself was moving smooth when it was just us, there was still lag, but at least it didn't look like a slide show.

Protip for you tourney go-ers.

Choose Gannondorf and push B. Nothing else. Don't even try to recover.

I have to admit, that was hilarious. Good god.

I still say hilarious. That is an actual cap from the Sudden Death BTW.
fucking bombs. I hate when they spawn RIGHT THERE and you barely have time to react.
At least your Sudden Death defeat was random. I ran right up to Peach or Zelda (can't remember) and got bitchslapped the fuck off the screen.

Anyway you could youtube or file share, so we can all laugh at Strell?

Me n Mush Still playing atm.

And now I'm done. He likes playing with computers for some reason, and I can play lag free with comps.

Room made for people to join now.
