Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

I'd just like to say that the next CAG tournament will be an intense event.

Everyone's skills have tremendously improved over the past couple weeks. Ppl are learning how to counter-pick and realize that maining in one character is not good enough. Because of this, I feel like a lot of matches will come down to the last stock.

I can't wait to see who will be crowned CAG champ for the next tourney (no offense JoeB and Mr. Beef).

Good games maigoyume and evergoo.

Your Rob is a beast Mark. The only thing that is missing is a taunt with "No disassemble!".

I don't know how I managed to pull through on that last match except by pure luck. I had to switch to using Toon Link over Olimar when playing your Rob considering that your Rob obliterates my Olimar.

those were some really good games marc and blue (not me, since i sd like 4 times), after you left me and marc had a showdown, fantastic matches, most of them down to the wire

Edit: forgot to mention, i officially hate rob's down smash

GGs to you guys, too.

Blue: I'll fix my taunts just for you so that they will be ROB-related =)

Maigoyume: That Lucario has ridiculous priority for dair since I usually have the priority with nair. Well, I need to work on my aerial recovery and attack game. They're still too predictable.
Edit: forgot to mention, i officially hate rob's down smash
Everyone does. Everyone.

that is my ONLY defense in the air, plus it stops me in my tracks, excellent for messing up timing, but yes it does have mad priority, we did trade a few times though
This is just amazingly awesome. I mean how do 4 people in random wifi come together with the same idea? Thats just ridiculous.
 That is awesome.

Gosh, this made me laugh so hard. I love when people come together for great ideas without VC.

I'm pissed.
And I don't know why.
Okay, so I'm not really pissed. I loves me evergoo.

EDIT: What's this? It appears there hasn't been much Smashing going on tonight. Too bad too - I was really in the mood.

GG Ingwe, but here's a tip: please develop your own techniques!

It's difficult fighting against you b/c you like picking dittos while using practically the same fighting style as me. I swear, it's like fighting against my clone and that's no fun.

Good God. I hate Intense Boss Battles. No matter who it is, after the sixth boss, they up their game so much it's awful. It's the increased pace I can't handle. I even got killed by Rayquaza. I guess I'll just have to pray for the order of ultimate easiness to come along:

Porky, Rayquaza, Meta Ridley, Gemnon (I think that's his name...), Duon, Ridley, Crazy Hand, Master Hand, Petey.

That would be a godsend (Oh, and I'm playing as Lucas, so that should explain why I put Duon in the middle).

I think I'll eventually get it, but not before I forcefully remove entire sections of my hair.

Noticed something interesting, or at least I think so. And since I matter more than you, that means it is indeed interesting.

The Bit Generations series of GBA games never made it out of Japan, but there was a time when they were being considered. Around that time, Nintendo had trademarked "Digiluxe," which was thought to be the American counterpart of the BG games. Sadly, this was nearly two years ago, and the games never came out.

I actually asked a guy I knew at the time who worked at NoA about them. He told me that they had been brought up, but the problem was the marketing. Apparently, NoA thought that even if they did release the games here for $20 (as they were budget titles), a typical shopper (probably a parent) would overlook them, instead taking the latest movie/tv show based game instead. So Spongebob would sell better and lead to low sales of this series, which was kind of experimental to begin with. This - I was told - was why the games never surfaced here.

If you look up the stickers in the album, you can find the logos for these games. I've only gotten two, but I noticed that they carry the Digiluxe title and have different titles than the BG games. Instead of Coloris, for example, we have Chromatron.

Just seems interesting to me that they'd leave in that information when NoA deliberately removed the Earthbound masterpiece from the game. I don't think it has any bearing at all on the BG series ever coming here.

It's just something I've noticed.

Anyone up for some brawl right now? My brawl code is 4468-0666-6336.
I'd appreciate an add for more friends to brawl with.

Yeah I noticed too. You ever played any Bit Generations? Soundvoyager is so awesome.

It's called Chromatron in Japan Strell.
Coloris in the UK. I got that one last night.

did you get my email?

EDIT:Never mind, I guess they changed the title there. It was originally Chromatron. Wonder why the sticker has the original title.

EDIT2:Ah, there was already a game called Chromatron before it, prompting a quick change.

EDIT3:ESRB.org still has Chromatron in their database. As well as 5 of the other Digiluxe games.

I think I tied for 7th or 8th or something out of 60 at the big Houston tournament. Both losses were to the same person. Once in the 2nd round, and again deep in the losers bracket after like 5 consecutive wins. Snake.

There was some truly epic broken shit. Seeing Ice Climbers chain throw Olimar guaranteed from 0% to 100% to death. Its real bad. Someone was recording so there might be videos at some point.

I did have a decent shot against the guy. The first time it went to a tiebreaker match after 1-1 and we were both 160+ at the last life, he just got the last hit.

2nd time he got me 2-0 but in the first match I was up like 90% to 150% in the last life and he denonated a mine that he had left on a platform on accident YEARS ago and killed me.

The games never got released outside of Japan as far as I know. If they had been, I would have imported the English version either instead of the Japanese ones, or alongside the Japanese set I have, since I adore these games and think they are exquisite.

As for the ESRB, again, I'm fairly sure those entries were made around the same time everything was rumored to be brought over here.

And it is called Coloris in Japan. I have the shiny box, moonspeak manual, and game to prove it.

No I didn't get it. Thank god.

Edit: Oh, it's in my other account. Great.

DMK: THe next tourney I'm near, let me know. I don't know if I'll play, and even if I did I know I won't do very well, but I want to see this stuff in action.

Doomed: Played a little of SoundVoyager, but I really need to get a good pair of headphones and play it. I have the entire series.

Wow, that's a depressing video, especially that techniques like that have been discovered so early in Brawl's life.

haha cool technique. I've always liked playing the ice climbers as one of my most fun characters to play as...especially against friends. I'll have to start using it lol

Strangely enough, he didnt win the tournament, a Snake did. The game is too damn counterpick heavy. I guess it doesnt work on Snake because he can always pull a grenade or something and it would explode on the hit, or eventually, breaking the chain. He's also good at keeping people at a distance.

Olimar can destroy Snake, Snake apparently can kill Ice Climbers, and Ice Climbers can destroy Olimar.

In IC vs Olimar, they can do this wall of ice that is pikmin proof. One of them does that little ice blast, then mid-move, the other one short hops over you forward and does the ice blast again. It kills all pikmin that it touches and in general prevents you from approaching from the front.

Is the ice blast a OHKO on all pikmin? It doesn't sound that hard to avoid, but I've never really played a decent IC so my experience with them is very limited.

GGs to zitanix, of course. I'll be honest - I'm disappointed I didn't put your Olimar down with my Dedede, but I suppose I'll take solace in the fact that that particular match-up really isn't in my favor.

JoeB, that was INTENSE! After getting pummeled as several characters, I finally pulled out my second ever victory over your Dedede. Though you got kinda talkative in that last match, so maybe you were going easy on me? =P

I was worried at first because your profile had a red dot, but the only time I noticed significant input lag was trying to counter with marth. Great games nonetheless!

Hehe, not at all! You won that fair and square! :) In fact, I thought you got short-handed because you used your Pikmin chain and even though it was clearly in range, it didn't catch the ledge. Ah, well. I really enjoy playing against you. Let's do it again soon!

Yeah, the pikmin chain is kinda wonky sometimes. I know it doesn't grab the ledge if it's already occupied, but sometimes it doesn't grab when I have 3 or less pikmin and it looks like it's in range. Oh well, part of the character I suppose.

By the way, could you give me some input on which of my characters seem the best? I can't tell which I play with best, and you're probably the best person I've played yet so I think you're the most qualified to pass judgment. :)

GGs to Arikado, Suko, and Daisydog. You guys are all great players, and it's a blast to play against you!

To zitaniz: Well, don't take what I say too to heart, because Brawl, at least from an early impression, seems to be a lot about counter-picking. But, from the selection of characters I played, you seemed to be the best with Wolf. More specifically, the way in which you controlled Wolf most closely resembled what I understand is his "ideal playstyle." I hope that makes sense. :p

I always want to think of JoeB as a total jerk, but I just can't. And it SUCKS.

Like I get the feeling if I told him to fuck off, he'd just offer me a cupcake or something.

I REQUIRE JUSTIFICATION.

Yep, good games as always.

Is it just me, or does random brawl take forever to find people to connect to? And usually, the lag is pretty horrendous.

I don't think it's my router, as I've never had problems playing any DS or other Wii games online. I'll try putting the router in DMZ and see if that helps at all.

Yeah, getting a random brawl takes forever. As for lag, it varies from no input lag to horrendous for me.

It's so random, sometimes it'll connect right away and be lag free while other times it won't find anyone or be insanely laggy... like 5 FPS laggy.

ok I cleared out all the rooms/levels/bosses in the great maze and I am in that room where some mystical door is opened and these things are going into it but I cannot enter it. There are two doors to my left and right of that room but they lead to other parts of the map.

What's next?

If there are no statues in front of that mystical door, just push up. If there are status left then you arent complete. Pause and look at the map.
