Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Well, to tell the truth, I have never been a fan of Warner Bros cartoons because I never felt that characters hitting each other was all that funny. Or at least it wasn't funny for as long as others seemed to think it was. A hits B on head...B hits A on foot... C blows both up with dynamite. For me that only goes so far.

In any case, I think video games are a different beast. They are much more repetitive then TV (which isn't to say that TV isn't repetitive, but TV shows are on and then they are over, where as a video game gets played again and again and the characters moves are performed over and over in virtually or literally identical way, and, of course, they are highly interactive. I don't think you can quite so easily compare them. However, I am no psychologist, just a Dad.

I'm getting convinced that Brawl is probably not a great idea until they are older. They've got the original for now, and that will do. They'll get their fill of opponent burning that way. :) I appreciate the info!

Personally, I have not felt bad playing brawl in front of my daughter (17 months). It just doesn't feel all that violent to me.

Also, as a newb who has played against experienced CAGers they are gentle to you at first, but they will always let you know you are a catcher not a pitcher.
Hero, you're online! Get your butt in my room!
I'm too lazy to turn on Smash. Post if you're about to hop online so I can open a can of whoop ass!
Does not apply to FallMoon

Joe's a stand-up guy. He yells at you to get into his room, then beats your ass, then tells you that "he might be back later."

If that's not an abusive relationship, I don't know what is.

Thanks Dyeknom.
The room was full and I didn't know if I'd even get to play tonight! (and I had set aside a whole hour to play with you guys ) But then you came and everything was fun again.
You're really spammy/campy with a few characters but we worked through that. Good games.

 So I was a little mad after school today, and needed a release. What of it?

But seriously, hero, I had a good time. I just wish I wouldn't SD with Yoshi so much in front of you.

Well, the Diddy and marth matches got me annoyed, having to give chase the entire match even after a 10-15 percent SD on each from the start... hence the text and the sudden shift to spamming. I hate chasing and i hate camping, and for me... spaming is the best way to be equally obnoxious, even if the other person doesn't intend to be. :)

Good games though, the later matches were much more fun.

GG to you too hero. I actually thought peach would have won that because my up kicks wouldnt reach her floaty kicks... and by the time i tried.... I didnt have time to get out of there. Some well time toads too. Nothing beats wolf and fox sitting on the map with reflector shields up at match start though... we both thought we would be insta laser'd.

Shoot. I guess that means I have to become an actor.

Goo, your videos are great. And SHOW ME YOUR MOVES! is the best team ever.

See what I did thar? Much love to Goo, Kado, suko, and Beef

In reality, I haven't been up to too much. Just doing the school thing (junior year); I play Smash pretty frequently with the Wichita crew. So, it's homework + Smash + roommates = my life.

I've been contemplating picking up a Wii just so I can practice, and be able to hold my own with the main Sacramento crews out here. Plus, I'd be able to play with you Smash Thread guys again. :grouphug:

He sold his wii for Beef. He was hungry.

Well, I had been using my roommate's Wii for a while, and when it was time to move out, that scenario was (obviously) not going to work. Then when my parents decided to get me a console of my choice for my birthday/x-mas gift, I opted for a PS3.

Once I get a job up here, however, a Wii might be one of my first purchases. I get enough Brawl as it is on the weekends from the crews up here, but I now have another reason to pick up a Wii and Animal Cossing, since I found out that my cousin owns it. I actually didn't see that coming, even though I introduced him to the series when it debuted on the GCube so many years ago.

This could (and should) be in the Animal Crossing thread, but once I get AC, can I drop by your town and bug net-slap your residents Strell?

Aye. I should be playing it again by then.

In the holiday rush, I got to a point where I didn't play for several days straight. This was due to the inordinate amount of things I had to do for the season - making cookies, visiting with friends, driving to far off places, etc. As such, my town is stuck perpetually (currently) on December 15, 2008.

I'd have started up again...but then I got another 360 and started into Fallout 3. Which I was SURE I'd absolutely hate and quit within a few hours, but it is surprisingly addictive and I must admit I like it a good bit, and until I finish it, I don't have time for AC.

So I imagine within (at most) two weeks or so I'll be back into AC. Originally I wanted to catch-up to current day, but I think I'll just inform the AC community that "hey guys until further notice, I'm a month and a half behind."

Still, not like that really messes up the game.

Plus I know I can remove some inactive people off my list, which is capped at 32 people, which is dumb.

Loads of sexual innuendo there... NSFW...

Yes, Strell is trying to reclaim his newbie status...Sorry about your sickness, Strell, parents told me the best way to rid of a cold is to give it away.

Goo is just begging for gifs to be made.

I think he's doing this all on purpose. >:]

Pulling out the flower was hilarious though. Some of my fellow CAGs would be great people to hang out with.

For the record, Marc is a cool guy in person. This was of course before I knew that he would start singing, and try to bring about the Great Ear-Bleeding Catastrophe of 2009.

Edit: Not beef though. I bet that guy is a jerk.

Edit: Oh crap, I made a new post.

Edit: OH crap, I really shouldn't have said it was secret!

Edit: OH CRAP, I really shouldn't have said it was illegal.

...

It's too hot today.
Lots of good material there, Strell. Get to gif making!
I could use a gif CAG avatar. Just make sure it has color and enough frames. I dare you to make an embarassing one 'cuz I'm FEARLESS!

And if you need more material 'cuz you're weaksauce, click on my sig for all the videos in one convenient place.

DAYUM, did I save some money today!

First off, I wanted to cancel my Napster account today but the representative was reluctant to let me go and offered me one extra free month of trial. That means more music on my iPod!

Secondly, I read this thread on SD about how to increase your AT&T DSL connection while saving a ton of money. I previously had a 3rd tier connection (DSL Express) and upgraded to a 1st tier (DSL Elite) for 6 months while saving $7.50 per month in the process ($25 -> $17.50). That's a total savings of $45 with an increase of 4x download speed and 2x upload speed! :whee:

Thought I'd like to point this out for you AT&T Internet subscribers. I hope some of you guys take advantage of this deal for some lag-reduced Smashing!
Anyone up for some Brawl?
If you and Strell have room for a 3rd, I'll join you guys. I've not played in months (since the last internal CAG tourney), but would welcome an arse kicking at this point.
