Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Ooh, new character.

Maybe its time to play Path of Radiance now.

Oh, hey:

"He brings his special move "Aether" with him as he crashes the Brawl party. Try for a single-stroke finishing blow with his mighty blade!"

Flare Blade-type attack?
If Peach is in the game (and she will be), she'll probably have a more Super Princess Peach-inspired moveset, wouldn't she?
Not QUITE. She was based off of herself in Super Mario Bros 2. I really liked that. But then again..if you think about her in SPP..and think about "Final Smash"....it makes me think that the RAGE emotion could be an excellent choice for a final smash...can anyone else picture it?! The emotions in SPP are really the only new things for Peach. She HAD an umbrella in Melee..so yeah, they can just make it be Perry this time.

Basically, I would love for her to be nearly the same as she was in Melee..but with an awesome Final smash..such as rage :)

As for today's update: Meh (personally). I never really liked Marth/Roy, so I may not like him. But it IS good to see new characters, so I'll accept!

♪♪♪ America Ike from Fire Emblem, fuck yeah! ♪♪♪

He seriously looks like Marth and Roy bred together. I wonder if he's replacing both of them?

Awesome... Ike is easily my favorite Nintendo character in terms of story/development. Considering Marth was my main in Melee, I have high hopes for Ike. :applause:

Not really familiar with the Fire Emblem characters as I haven't played any games in that franchise, but I enjoyed using Marth and Roy in SSBM. And the announcements of "new challengers" are few and far between (this is actually the first new NEW challenger, since we've known about Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Meta Knight, Pit, and Snake since the 2006 E3 video), so this was a nice birthday surprise.

Thanks Nintendo!

Meh. We already have 2 FE characters, I'd like to see someone new. Especially considering I don't care about FE.

I was half-hoping for a Golden Sun character, and for some reason Ike makes this seem less likely. Ah well, he looks cooler than Marth, maybe cooler than Roy.

Same, for me. I don't know much about FE, but that's cool I guess.
I would of perferred a completely new character.
...I wonder how many characters will be in brawl.
Meh. We already have 2 FE characters, I'd like to see someone new. Especially considering I don't care about FE.
you dont know if either of them are coming back, so at least one FE character is fine with me.

I'm glad they put up a Fire Emblem character that Americans can familiarize with, game-wise. Definitely need to go play PoR now. If they're going for two Fire Emblem characters again, I'm still hoping Lyn makes it in :)

btw, when did the update go up? I figured it must have been something big; I stayed up til like 1AM Pacific time and it still wasn't updated.

^PoR is a solid game. It's another one of Cube's RPG gems.

And I'm hoping for Hector from FE7. Having an axe specialist would totally rock.

Also, as an Assist Trophy, any Wyvern Rider would kick ass.

Woot! Greatest update so far. I loved Path of Radiance and am in anticipation for the next game. Hearing that Ike is in Brawl just rules. And for all the Fire Emblem haters out there go play Path of Radiance and you will see why Ike rocks.

I know someone who is probably doing backflips all day and shouting at this news.. Good stuff. I still need to play PoR.. someday.
you dont know if either of them are coming back, so at least one FE character is fine with me.
Well, I'm assuming they are. If they aren't, then I suppose this is an acceptable addition.

I hated Marth and Roy, but fir different reasons. Marth was too overpowered, and I sucked to no end with Roy, no matter how much I tried to practice.

If they axed both Marth and Roy to include Ike, then I'm happy. Maybe he won't have his power concentrated into a single part of his goddamn sword.

I thought I had read an article or interview that said those particular characters (Marth/Roy) could be removed for newer characters from that particular series. It made it sound like they would be removed, and at least one or two new Fire Emblem characters would be added.

I'm betting Marth and Roy are gone.

And damn, I wish I could remember where I saw that.

I really hope that doesn't mean Petey Piranha is playable...

Yea, chances are the took out Marth and Roy. 3 swordsmen from Fire Emblem seems a lil excessive don't ya think?

And if Petey is playable, I will slaughter someone. Why is Nintendo so big on him? A big boo would be much cooler I say.

I've already convinced myself that the Ouendan & EBA will either be assists or not in the game at all. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

As for Ike, I guess it's a good announcement. I have PoR(picked it up cheap a month or two back), but I haven't played it yet. I am finally working on my stack of GC games now, but with Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 and Skies of Arcadia Legends to get through, it might be awhile before I get to Fire Emblem. Hopefully I can at least get it started in time to learn who Ike is.
Anyone from EBA/Ouendan or Advance Wars would be awesome in SSBB, but they would look kinda odd in 3D.
Bah? Both of them have already gone 3D.
i_7069.jpg

That's an assist if I've ever seen one.
Does Nintendo own the Ouendan Cheerleaders or EBAs?
they should hold the rights to both characters or shared with Inis

That stage looked plain and boring like the other 2/3 platforms in the air stages. Until I read description and it says theres an underground part.

Exactly what I thought. The second I saw it I said to myself, "Great, another stage with floating platforms. Then I saw how you keep dropping, and it quickly became my favorite stage yet.

Oh and also, if an EBA/Ouedin (sp?) character isn't playable, an assist would be great. 3 of them would come out and dance all over any fool in their path.

I personally can't wait for September's new character of the month...

It seems as tho every tuesday its character info, but new characters are the real treat haha

As for today's update - its pretty good, I like seeing more stages given to different series..but my favorite new stage would have to go to the DK one
They need a large steady stage... something like Hyrule Castle in Melee.
Which I would be suprised if it didn't return.

Considering what a vast archive of games they have to draw from, opened up even more by bringing in 3rd party characters, Nintendo is in a no-win situation in some regards. They are sure to not include something that each person individually wants. For example, I think Simon Belmont should be a character, but they haven't even confirmed the more obvious choice of Sonic.
