Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
Those opaque character icons next to the percentages are horrible. It pretty much guarantees that they've designed the levels such that no action takes place on the bottom section of the screen.
I wouldn't say that yet. But they are way too big and obnoxious.
When zoomed out, they seem to be underneath the ground "floor", and out of the way.
Nah. It's just a logo for Pit. There's one for all game 'worlds'.
hate to break it to you bro, but pit's icon is a bow and arrow, the eggplant is for nana + popo (ice climbers)

How foolish of me!
Just had eggplants on my mind.

I can use my MII as my avatar, cool!
S'Morrissey is going to wreck havoc.

And can't wait to see what the other online modes are.

Noice^2.

That's a crock of shit.

It's great that it has WiFi. I wish they would have kept some stats kind of like Strikers, but oh well.

I also think it is encouraging that they have added in "taunts" for you to say to friends during matches. Sure there's a limit and they have to be preset, but it's a step towards somebody at Nintendo acknowledging that it is a good thing to be able to communicate with online play. Hopefully they keep progressing this idea.
fuck YESSS :applause::D:hot:

edit: also damnit playing against random ppl=not knowing their name or recording a win-loss record..
that really pissed me off. what the fuck is nintendo's problem!? not being able to communicate at all, let alone no voice chat, with other people and no win-loss record either in their biggest game of the year

Sigh. This confirms that this is another game that is FC specific. Not going by the Wii Code.

But this is pretty awesome. I just really hope it's not laggy. I know there will be some lag sometimes..but overall.. :pray:

it's weird how their icons seem to have no more room for characters. I think it's funny how cautious they are being. I just wonder how many characters are left. Haven't seen a new one in a while...

Haven't seen a new one in a while...
They only showed around 12. Melee had over 20, and it seems Brawl is upping the ante quite a bit.

Also, this is a great update. An okay online that still allos you to play with people is better than no online.

Its times like this where I wish Microsoft had purchased Nintendo. Playing Smash Bros. over Xbox Live would have been so fun.

I am a bit worried about the lag and it sucks that the names of random people you play are not displayed. Still, this online play is better than nothing. Hope Nintendo gets it right the next time.

Well, I'd say this is about right.

At least we know it has online now.

Also, I'm a bit unsure: what would the difference be between using the Friend code and the Wii code?

Oh god.

We get wifi, the "big" question everyone has been worried about, and all I see is endless bitching.

I have to ask if none of you have happy birthdays and/or other such holidays where you get gifts, because all you care to mope about is the things you didn't get.

And DMK you shut up. You're just trying to sour something we all know you didn't want in the first place.

Beyond that, this is a fighting game. If it is done well online, then that fact alone is substantially important. As long as I can beat you bitches down, that's all that matters. Taking the 5 minutes or so it's going to take to get everyone situated is well worth the trouble.

I second this gentleman's comment. Despite Nintendo's comments from way back, I'm still shocked that online play is available. This is a surprise. Rejoice, brawlers! :lol:

Day one purchase confirmed. Without online play, I was going to wait until a price drop (which means never). With online play...well let's just say that I am going to be on the receiving end of 1,000 ass kickings.

Insanity! Do want!

but this is the only reason I would have for owning a wii :(
WiFi: :D
no voice chat::cry:
no records::cry:
friend codes::cry:
overall::roll::cry:
My Turn:

WiFi::lol:
Uh, and, uh, that brings me to overall:
OVERALL: :lol:

The rest of you can go suck a bag of dicks.

Such language.

You are supposed to indicate the bag itself is made of dicks.

So sucking the bag-made-of-dicks...of dicks.

How do you figure? To me, it looks like it uses the Wii codes in the same way that Metroid does. If you have someone in your address book, they'll be in your Smash Bros. roster. And really, that's not too different from XBox Live when you think about it. It's exchanging different friend codes for each individual title that really bugs people, and I think you're going to see Nintendo start to move away from that, especially now that Corruption has proven it can work another way.

Also, I think it's still possible that they will add/unveil voice chat at some point. Not probable, but possible.

YES!! You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this...

SANDBAG'S BACK!! =^n.n^=

Strell - let people argue. It's just been revealed that Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature online multiplayer (which is awesome), so this means that CAG memebers will bitch incessantly about the news for a couple of days. You, dicks, and bags are disctracting!

After seeing people bitching about A PRICE DROP OF A PLAYSTATION 3, I don't expect anyone on these boards to ever say "hey, this is cool - we should maybe drink us a pint to it!" No, it's always some sort of a tormenting evil - price drops, game features, new Blizzard announcements.

CAG is the new EMO.

...I figured they would have released this on Friday. Let people talk for the weekend. I wonder if we will get another hugh update tomorrow, or if we'll get something lame.

This is all I wanted to know.

I don't understand why they don't even let you see the other players names in the Play Anyone mode. They always displayed them in other WiFi games when you play anyone as far as I know. Like a rapist will really find me if they find out my username in SSBB. Will they!? :shock:

That's the plan!
Am I the only one angry about the lack of communication?
I love that there is wifi play but the lack of communication does suck. I mean what's a good Smash Bros. match without some good trash talk.
Am I the only one angry about the lack of communication?
It's only really needed in co-op or team based games, so it doesn't bother me at all here.

Even if it was an option, I'd turn it off as I don't like to talk to people while gaming unless I'm playing with my friends (and none of them have a Wii) or playing a co-op/team based game where you have to communicate.

Don't need to listen to trash talk from strangers, or non sense from 12 year olds.

I'm guessing this is Reggie's "September Surprise". It's good news, even if I'm not 100% thrilled with how it's being implemented.
