Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
That's probably WITH her armor...?
I don't think anyone would doubt that. Her sex appeal would go way down if she were 200lbs
funny idea but you can't use taunts unless you have the FC anyway.
Damn you, Nintendo for ruining my plans for world domination!

Animal Crossing Wild Word:
Freind A - You - Friend B

Friend A and B don't know each other but they can both meet and talk in your town at the same time and interact with each other.

I could see that. You can play with someone "unknown" as long as that person has a mutual friend between the both of you. At least I hope so.

Now, apparently there's rumors floating around right now that GameStop will be receiving demo units in a couple of weeks. Considering how Galaxy demos were in stores approx. 2 weeks before the game's release, I really would not be surprised to see a Brawl demo disc unlike what is now available in Japan.

Am I understanding "Masterpieces" correctly?

You get to play demos of VC games that star SSBB characters through SSBB? Seems kinda useless if that's the case, unless the VC lacks demos on its own (and shame on it if that's the case).

It amazes me everytime Cheapy shrugs his shoulders about Smash Bros Brawl. But then I started thinking that the main reason I loved Smash Bros Melee so much was that I had 4-5 people who loved it as well to play with. The smack talk, badmouthing their mothers and girlfriends was priceless. All our characters had nicknames. I ALWAYS used Dr. Mario, changed his outfit to the dark blue/black and he was then known only as Dr. Death to all he encountered! What a great game! Maybe if nintendo doesn't screw up the online we can play some games and get Cheapy hooked, of course there won't be any smacktalk. damn. Unless we all chat on xbox live...while were playing wii.. Hmm I might need faster internet.

Those were actually full version copies of SMG.
Hopefully the same applies to SSBB so I can play the game a few weeks early.

Yes, I hate Nintendo. And you know the fuckers are never going to fix Wii Online, either.

They should just put Smash Bros on Xbox Live. Then they wouldn't have to fit the game into the confines of their specialized controller, either... And then there's HD.

Yeah, I have a love/hate relationship with the Wii. I love it for the good games it has, and I hate it for having them.

*sigh* but who am I kidding. Competition in the industry is good for everyone.

Is it wrong that the impending release of this amazing game just makes me hate Nintendo more?

I WANT VOICE CHAT, DAMNITT! AND FRIEND'S LISTS AND USERNAMES!

Then again, Melee was always a sort of "lug the gamecube over to a friends house and go crazy on the tiny TV he has in his basement" kind of game. I wonder how much abuse the Wii can take... I can tell you I did much throwing and kicking around of the Gamecube while playing Melee.

OP you really should of just posted in the Super Smash Brothers thead, there was no reason to start a new one.

And then there's HD.
You can use the motion controls for smash attacks with the wiimote + nunchuck control scheme, but it's not required, you can turn it off and do smash attacks the old fasion way. Other then that the game just uses the buttons, dpad, and analog stick like every other game in the franchise.
Plus, you get to test your controller configurations without ever leaving the controller setup menu, and you can save them on your Wiimotes memory if your going to play on a different console.

Whenever my friends and I play, we usually just change all our characters to the foofy pink/purple colors, then make fun of each others characters for being gay. It's fun.

Not sure how that got started though...:whistle2:k

Same here. Some of my best memories are matches with Gay Pride Luigi, Gay Pride Yoshi, and Gay Pride Capt. "Show me your boobs!" Falcon. :D

hah, i always loved getting smash kills with a ribbon-wrapped jigglypuff followed with a taunt... drives my friends nuts, getting killed by a fluffy pokemon...

LOL! We always say "Show me your boobs!" when someone taunts as Captain Falcon

Gay pride Luigi looks hilarious. Fox is also pretty funny in his flaming purple boots
i wouldnt want voice chat think about all the kids SCREAMING
at you for beating them up or being unfair
In Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, the only way you can voice chat is when you play with friends. I'm not sure if this works on other Wifi games on the DS, but I'd imagine if voice chat was in Brawl, it would work this way.

If you beat me, you can bet your ass I'd yell and scream.

'Cause the only way that you could beat me would be with hax.

Uh, alright. But I don't get the last part (Chronicle). Is that just a list of all the Nintendo games made? Is there anything to do with it? Wouldn't this be a feature better suited for somewhere on the Wii console?

I guess it means that every Nintendo game ever made will be represented somehow in Brawl, even if it's only as sticker or trophy.
I'm not sure if you can click on them and read more about the game, my guess is you can't since it doesn't say that we can, but you never know.

It says "As of December 2007", maybe the Wii can download updates for the Chronicle. Or maybe it can never be updated, and that's just on the menu so we know what the cutoff date was for games in the Chronicle.

Maybe it could update via saves you have on the console.

Prime 3 still adds new bumper stickers (like Galaxy) that way.

It's also for that very reason that I suspect we will not get full games on Brawl. There's just too much to spoil. We've seen this already in the japanese demo. They're true demos and not the full game.

I'm pretty sure the only way you could do anything in Pokemon was with friends. I don't remember it having any sort of random battle finder.

There are some video clips on the Iwata asks article on subspace emissionary. Some parts are new gameplay clips, go check them out.
I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I found this video to be hilarious - especially Mario and Kirby at the very end

Brawl Meets 300
it was a cool video haha but when he says"this is sparta!!!" they shoulda showed someone blasting someone off just like he kicks the messenger into the hole. :) otherwise it was entertaining.

so has everyone here pre-ordered already?

I'm still waiting to see if some awesome bonus comes along (doubtful but hopeful) but once it gets closer I know I will.

I think it's 40 minutes. There's no way it can be 40 seconds....but I wouldn't put it past them.

I wonder if you get to unlock master pieces? :whistle2:k I know they are just demos and all..but it'd still be pretty awesome IMO.

both are ridiculous times. I own ice climbers, and I think a demo should last no longer than 2 minutes
Look at the original Masterpieces entry. See the bit where he talks about the time limit being really short? Yeah. It's 40 seconds. Maybe not set in stone, but it definitely shows 40 seconds.

I wonder if there will possibly be a metal gear demo for Snake. If so that would be pretty nifty! As big of an MGS fan as I am, I have sadly not played the original MG games...

Bad news on the playable AC character front; there was a document included in the latest part of the Iwata Asks interview.

slide182.jpg

Animal Crosser has an f'n AXE, how can't it fight? =^oVo^=

K.K. Slider or Tom Nook needs to be tearin' that shit up.

As much as I love the little AC guy, I feel bad whenever he gets stung. :( I don't want him getting FALCON PUNCH'd over and over.

Yes, I would say 'plausible' is a fairly subjective word.

On that note, though, if we even ever had a chance at a playable AC character, I'd rather have Tom Nook (Tom Nook!) than the bland player character.

Anybody else see the Japanese game bug?

http://wii.live-360.net/wii/brawl-ships-with-a-bug-in-japan/

Also, what do you make of this (Iwata asks)?

This time, however, we were able to borrow characters from various development teams, which was a big help. Take The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess from the Zelda series for example. We were able to design the Smash Bros. characters by adapting them just as they were modeled for the original titles.

I don't want a WW Link, but would he mention WW over a simple assist trophy?

EDIT: After reading it again, I guess this snippet is in the section where he talks of trophies in general.

It's not a bug. People over at GoNintendo said it was like Metroid Prime, and that the message basically says, "Thank you for purchasing this game. It may update your system, which may brick any consoles that have been illegally modified."

I don't read Japanese, so I can't confirm that, but more than a few people over there said as much.
