Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Did they jack up the CPU levels in this game? Did a random with 2 5's and 1 lvl 6 on Wario's Stage. Man it was a blast even with CPU's. It was close the whole game until it came down to me and fox and I cleaned the floor (on melee I could of probably took 3 lvl 9's).
 
So what are the thoughts on DK? Seems to be the only guy I can use well. Is he considered cheap? I guess at least when you knock him off a ledge he aint floating back up easily
 
I'm usually on really late at night / early morning, generally 10pm to 3am PST (1am to 6am EST).

My SB skills are average and I play for fun, so super-skilled ultra-serious players likely will not get a challenge from me.

For those who still cannot see the online Options menu or Spectator mode:

-Select Options from the Main Menu
-Select Erase Data
-Select "Erase All"
-When it asks you to confirm you want to erase your data, select "NO"

Log on to Nintendo WFC. The options menu should be there now, and you don't have to erase your data.

This info was just given to me on Nintendo's tech support forums. I tried it and it worked like a charm. Sorry if this has already been covered.
 
Just trying to get through Boss Rush, and I gotta say this: even though I hate Yoshi, he's too good in Boss Rush. His flutter kicks do roughly 1/4 damage to all bosses.

Oh, and concerning the possibility of a CAG tournament, once we're all accustomed to the connections and all: would everyone want items on, or off, or what? Because I don't mind one way or the other. Also, are we going to need to have ANOTHER Brawl thread, or can we just set the brackets in the OP?

I don't see whats wrong with items...they're defaulted in the game and thus I think should be part of the game. I bet we see another Brawl thread...that would be too messy if there was a tournament added on.
 
Might I suggest a grouping by region as far as brackets. Like how the NBA or NCAA do their conferences. That way people can start off with a minimal amount of lag. Maybe groups of Round Robins as elimination rounds?

I'm not 100% sure, but I have three. I looked up the info for this yesterday and nobody seems to be completely certain, but it sounded like you get them for completing certain challenges that have a hammer under the glass.

I also hear some challenge glass is unbreakable too.

I would enjoy items on myself. And there really does need to be another thread for a tournament specifically. I think this one is already too cluttered with too many other things to setup a tournament.

It can be. It's the same as Ness' PK Flash. It just doesn't move very fast or far.

Odd. No matter what directions I hit, it just went up and turned in the direction I was facing.

I'll have to jump into a training session or something till I figure it out.
 
Finally finished SSE now im gonna try to go after the stages and other chars I didnt unlock. As for the tourney I usually try to play with items off less of a distraction.

Anyone here play sonic? I love him but getting his smash moves into a combo is hard like I can zip around the stage and get u around 80-100 but when it comes smash time its hard to do any advice?
 
Damn not a single friend code I've entered has gone past "Awaiting Registration" even though I know some have added me. Damn you Nintendo.

Yea, like Strell had suggested I think both people need to be logged in at the same time so it may take a while to update everyone. :cry:

I'm not 100% sure that's correct. After I entered codes last night, I disconnected to play SSE and didn't log back in until this morning. When I did, I had 2 that weren't awaiting reg. and one was offline at the time. So who knows...

People who complain about items should pick a new game. Seriously, if items are that big of a deal, play some street fighter or the original mortal kombat because a developer wouldnt spend THAT much time on items if they didn't intend for them to be used. Removing items doesn't really show any amount of skill a player has either, because it just shows that a person can alienate the characters who are better in group combat or actually knows how to use items properly.

I mean honestly, it's like those people in WoW who always duel... but set up certain "rules" like not using half of a classes talents.

You know I thought I had seen that a few times too but I don't get it, sometimes when you add people and they add you it is instant and sometimes it seems to take forever. I just wanted something to believe in :D

I play with items usually, but I turn off food and hearts.

I'm pretty sure that's only if you've BEATEN the SSE. Same way he's
hidden in the forest level
, it's only available after completion of the entire mode.
 
I'm at work right now and just reading people playing is killing me. I didn't play that much online yesterday and I really want to get on today and brawl. I should do some SSE (only 30% or so done - I like playing vs. people instead of that, but whatever).
