Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

I always assumed you just hit A to use a hammer. I don't want to use any until I'm sure that I can't/don't want to do a challenge, so I've never tried.

Yoshi Fn rocks at Boss Battle. I played on easy but i had the easiest time with him so far. I had the three hearts left for boss 8, 9, and 10 each. Then i beat Tabuu with 0% damage. Basically all i did was jump and press the C stick down which nails the bosses a ton with his kicks.

AHHHH. i almost beat it on hard with Yoshi. Till Tabuu cheated with his gold cage move that grabs you. He slammed me on the ground with it and i flew too far out to get back on the platform, even though my % wasnt very high. ERR

CELEBRATION, I finally finished Boss Battle on Intense

This game and this boss battle has been kicking my ass ever since I unlocked it from SSE, took me 2-3 days of playing to beat it on Very Hard, and two days of playing to finally get it on Intense, but wow this thing was addicting, I could not do anything else in the game until I would beat it on intense.

Now I can breath and sleep like a baby, go back to studying for my finals tomorrow, and finally play some other modes.

HAHAHAHAH,

IN YOUR FACE DUON you siamese robot freak I could never predict your move,

IN YOUR FACE RAYQUAZA you were so difficult and fast if you were on the last 3

IN YOUR FACE GALLEOM i thought we were friends, at first you were east to beat at 0% but
then you switched up on me and did your spinning move that would kill me, backstabber

IN YOUR FACE MASTER HAND your stupid flick of the finger... aah your stupid flick of the finger

IN YOUR FACE CRAZY HAND you and the lasers that came out of your fingers... with my Yoshi's flutter kick that's easy hits, but I would somehow always get trapped in them!

IN YOUR FACE PORKY you cheat, you always hide on the right or left of the screen, and I can't see you, what's up with that, i'd come hit you, and you'd send me flying.

IN YOUR FACE RIDLEYS actually you guys were pretty alright, everytime I died is because I would eggroll instead of 3rd jumping, we're still cool

IN YOUR FACE PETEY you were so easy for me to 0% you, but I would hate it when you were the first boss, I always wanted you in the last 3 for an easy kill

And Tabuu, I will always hate you for giving me hope, I would get you down to 1/4th of your life, and out of nowhere you send me flying...

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED, MY LIFE RESUMES, BOSS BATTLE CONQUERED.

By the way, for anyone that is wondering, I used Yoshi because he's my main and just kept on flutter kicking, most of my mistakes came from bad heart management, I would be too cheap, thinking I could take on a certain boss with a high percentage...

This is by far the biggest challenge I ever faced in video games, I don't remember ever having to do something to such a high degree of difficulty, that was addicting. You keep on going back to it, because you know you can do it, it's not difficult in the sense of "there's no point, it's impossible."

-huge sigh of relief- and OMG at that guy that 0% his way through Boss Battle on Intense.

Oh and by the way, the hammers cannot be used on any of the Boss Battle challenges (pretty dumb), and if your thinking co-op it's not any easier, because if you or your partner dies, it's game-over, and the bosses have a lot more health.

I am so happy.

aaagh, my index fingers hurt from all the air dodging.... I can't believe I wasted so much time on this crap, at times I would look at my Wii with so much hate, wanting to bash my controller against it.

Well, dammit, I'll just have to settle with not unlocking everything because I found the Boss Battles in Easy to be hard enough - took me 10-12 tries and I don't ever want to play that mode again, let alone try it any harder. I can think of about 1000 things I'd rather do than that, actually. Like my taxes and shit...

A question on the completion percentage in SSE. We've unlocked all the hidden chars and yet are still at 88 or 89%. WTF do you do to get to 100%? I also have NO IDEA what this maze is that you all are talking about. Keep in mind my boys played most of the SSE and I only helped for parts of it.

The maze is the last two levels. For full completion, you have to explore each room in the entirety of SSE and find all of the yellow item boxes. It's not worth it.

Well, my boys like replaying random stages and I could direct them to do this. I've never seen a yellow item box though... Confused...

I had some great games last night that I recorded that included Arikado, Ecofreak, Lan_Zero, Ikohn4ever, and someone random named KGOLD. Thanks for the matches and the fun guys!

If you're like me you always scout a level for secrets before you move on. I guess I play a lot of platformers or something. But sometime the items are hidden.

In order to earn a complete victory, try your best to find all the doors and open all the orange cubes!
Sometimes you might even feel we were a little mean!
For boss rush mode, who do you suggest to get the easiest kills with?

I will probably use one of my hammers for the intense one but if there is a character that is really good I will see.
Pokemon Trainer's Charizard kicks so much ass. If you play on easy you can take out some bosses like Master and Crazy Hand in seconds. Basically just spam his ->B/

Seriously awesome matches! Arikado took me to school and your Olimar is excellent. I'm not used to playing >2 people but let's definitely do it again!

And I
How do you get videos up online like that? Do you take your SD card and convert the replay data into a video file or something?
I have a MythTV box with a TV tuner card that has composite inputs. I can do replays anytime I want, but if I want to record live I have to setup everything before hand since I usually play with component inputs. The Hauppauge-150 isn't relatively expensive, and does most of the video conversion on the card so you don't have to worry about extreme CPU load.
Can you get more hammers somehow? I saw one in a light blue trophy square, but I mean can you earn them by completing things in the game?
You get them by doing challanges. Some windows have hammers in them like "Collect 500 stickers"
Good games last night guys. Blue I think you really need to get permission to post a video of me, I would have at least been a guy I was good with.l
I'll take it down if you want me to. Just let me know. I was mostly just recording for the heck of it, so I was never really sure what the matches were going to turn out like.

Okay, that's where I saw the one extra hammer, and we've uncovered a second. I am curious how many "extra" hammers there are in the blue squares, and would still like to know if there are other ways to get them. (We wasted 2 getting adjacent blocks before we figured out they were more valuable than that. :whistle2:( )

Very basic, simple question, but I don't have access to the manual at the moment: Where do you go to put stickers on the bases of trophies? I did this one part where I stuck stickers on a page where you could change the background, but I don't think that actually affects the actual gameplay of characters.

I believe you're looking for the SubSpace Emissary. From there, you are able to select "stickers" and apply them to the characters that you've acquired.

I was joking, i guess my sarcasm is harder to pick up on the net

One of these: ;) would have helped. That is one thing about the net that sarcasm is often hard to pick up.

I wasn't sure if you were serious or not, so I wanted to make the offer just in case.

you just let me know your recording next time, and I will up my game 10 fold

Damn you cant use a hammer on boss battle on intense? I have a hard enough time trying to beat it on hard. ERRRR. I think im never going to beat that then.

I got 100% in SSE mode. Just replay the levles with flags and collect all those orange boxes until that levels changes to a crown. I had a bunch but i found it pretty easy to get through. I thought the ones i didnt get in the great maze would take forever, but it didnt really. Since most of the boxes i missed were not too far off from where you start.

I think there are 5 hammers total/

You do it in the SSE screen where you save and such. The stickers only effect SSE though.

Do they work for the rest of the SSE or does a sticker come off after the next time you fight with him/her?

If it is the later, how on earth do you know what is coming next so as to use the right sticker?

They stay on until you take them off. But if you take them off, you lose them.

Gross. Given the trouble you presented last night, if you're just goofin' around then I'd hate to see you at full tilt. *shudder*

More power to you, and the victories will be all the more sweet when (more like a big if) I win. ;)

Finally beat Boss Battle on hard with Marth. I dont know if i will be able to beat it on very hard or intense. The bosses that give me the most trouble, other than Tabuu, are Rayquaza and Duon. Especially Duon.
As others have said a billion times, spam Charizard's forward + B. Intense was a breeze using this method.
Is that the move where he breathes fire? Because i tried that and it didnt seem to take off much damage as other moves with other players. Plus he is kind of slow.

I believe thats his rock attack

Yeah i just tried it. I died on the 5th stage. Its hard to do in the air, half the time i press forward and B and he breathes fire instead. Plus like i said before, he is really slow. So getting to bosses in the air is a bitch.

No, forward + B. It's his rock smash.

Is there any way to avoid the master hands downward spiral move? You know his hand points down and starts spinning and then goes away and then comes down and smashes you while spinning and pointing down? I cant seem to avoid that move at all, and blocking does nothing.

You know, I don't think Sakurai and team understand how to reward people properly. You give me a new character for playing, like, 10 random fights, but I get a fucking Pichu statue or some shit for beating Classic with everyone?

*grumble*

If anyone needs me, I'll be running 30 characters through Boss Battle Mode...

Yeah. You move to the side. He comes straight down so you jump to the side.

Where do you do the swimming challenge? 300 ft of swimming. I was swimming around in SSE with sonic and in the stats it dont show he even has 1 foot of swimming. So it must be in brawl stages? Any good way of getting this done?

It's annoying, but nobody's making you do it. In a way, it makes sense. Many of the people who buy this game won't even touch the harder challenges if they don't have to. With things like the Subspace Emissary mode and the play 10 matches challenge, it allows the more "casual" crowd (I hate that term but can't think of any other way to describe it) to get the important stuff quite easily.

I, on the other hand, am perfectly fine with running through classic mode with everyone or doing some other insane challenge just for a minuscule reward. Sure, it's not much, but the act of doing so is a reward in itself in a way (horrible sentence, please forgive me).
