Another movie I've been meaning to watch for years. Really liked it, though I had to spend some time reading some interpretations online afterwards to fully get it.

I wouldn't recommend watching frozen unless you like shitty movies and like to make fun of them. It's just a really bad movie with some dumb characters that make you angry with their stupid decisions.

I'm not going to lie.

Going through the 8th longest film in the history of motion cinema is one tough task, even if you're only going to be watching through half of it's initial running time of 556 minute running time (That's ALMOST TEN HOURS!!!!)

What's harder is the fact that West of the Tracks: Rust takes its time to show watchers and viewers just what it is that makes industrial China tick, or rather, die.

This film requires a lot of patience and if you wanna' know what I'm talking about, check the Youtube link above to see just how much patience you can afford the film before you walk away. If you can manage to stick with it though, you'll find an extremely insightful and captivating look into industrial China, copper smelting factories, the people who live there, and the end to a way of life. It's really eye-opening and helps bring to life the fact that there is a completely different way of life on the other side of the planet. Frankly, a masterpiece.

The Man From Nowhere is freakin' awesome! I HIGHLY SUGGEST AVOIDING TRAILERS and just watching it blind! It's reminiscent of Man on Fire, but on a whole different level of cinema. The climax is a brilliant flow of blood, violence, and carnage that I can't wait to watch again once ZAFF is over!
 
Saw "Cowboys and Aliens" last night, I really enjoyed it.

Watched "Dinner for Schmucks" on Sat night, it was a stupid, stupid movie but it made me laugh a few times.
 
Cedar Rapids: Ed Helms is the perfect guy to play a whiny, needy and sheltered guy. John C. Reilly was fucking hilarious and overall the movie was enjoyable and funny.

Source Code: Reminded me of Deja Vu, concept wise, and I was curious as to how they would wrap up the end of the movie. Solid movie overall and was better than expected.
 
The Thing - Great movie. Almost like Alien but on earth. I don't want to spoil anything but if you like 80s horror/sci-fi films and haven't seen The Thing, you're missing out.
 
Watched From Dusk Till Dawn because of the recommendation some posts ago. Alright for me. Enjoyed the first half more than the second, though the action was amusing once it gets crazy.
 
Take Me Home Tonight - A good rental, but nothing special.

Limitless - I had heard good things and was expecting more so I was a bit let down, but it was still pretty good.

Source Code - Really enjoyed it, but I had to watch it a second time. I thought it was just okay the first time.

Hobo With A Shotgun - I don't regret watching it, but I don't think that I would watch it again. I was expecting over-the-top Kill Bill-esque violence and I was not disappointed.
 
Mr. Popper's Penguins - Possibly the most by-the-numbers bland movie ever, but thankfully I've now seen a penguin shit on Jim Carrey's face.

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 - It was alright, fun to watch but totally lacking the emotion you'd expect from the end of an 8-movie series.

Winnie the Pooh (2011) - Cute, not as "nostalgic" as the trailers led me to believe it would be.

Scenes from the Suburbs - Really enjoyed it and I love the Arcade Fire album, I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was a little longer and less vague, even if that was the point.

Mystery Team - Hilarious, Donald Glover can do no wrong.

The Big Lebowski - Finally watched this, pretty entertaining though I didn't care for the big musical number sequence.
 
Finished the extended version of Fellowship of the Ring. It remains probably the best fantasy series ever which isn't really too difficult given how terrible most of its competitors have been. Still, the special effects that don't rely on computers are great, the set design is fantastic, the action is solid, and the acting is well done. I'll start The Two Towers tonight or tomorrow.
 
50/50 - Starring Joesph Gordon Levitt and features Seth Rogen - It's been a long time since I've seen a movie in theaters that actually put me close to tears. The balance between humor and drama is deftly handled and the great performances and tight script really make this movie worth seeing. Don't let any comparisons to other movies make you second guess it, go see it.
 
Watched Rambo III and Rambo (2008) Last night, Not as good as the first 2 by a long shot...

Contemplating Silence of the Lambs for the Nth time, every time I'm about to watch it I pussy out. Is is really as graphic as I hear it is?

Silence of the Lambs isn't very graphic at all. Definitely mild in comparison to the later movies in the story.
 
Silence of the Lambs is a FANTASTIC movie that should not be missed. It's not graphic at all, I don't know where you would get that idea. Even the one part you could maybe consider graphic isn't even that bad. In fact, the newest Rambo is way more graphic than SOTL.

I see, well then I guess I'll have to watch it and then slap the shit out of the person who insisted to me that it was like SAW with dialogue, knowing I'm not a fan of horror...
 
Whatever Works Woody Allen and Larry David, a perfect match? ..Not quite this time. I really like these two but the film fell just a little short of my expectations. I did enjoy it though, very easy watch.

Halo Legends I liked the first two short films, however the rest fell alittle short. Especially the "Odd One Out" that was lame haha. There were some good ones though. I'd like to see a proper feature length 90-120 minute long Halo animation film that would be really cool if done well.

Memories of Murder Enjoyed this one, I love Korean movies in this genre can't get enough of them!

Whisper of the Heart First time watching this Ghibli one. I really liked it, I like simple "following the life" of films like this.

Grave of the Fireflies First time watching this one also, very good powerful film. That little girl was so cute.

Probably about once every other month I'll either take a Sunday and watch an entire series of movies in a marathon, or sometimes I'll watch a series of movies one per night during the week.

SuckerPunch - 5/10

Not Zack's best. I find it impossible to connect the dream sequences to the real world. The chick was HOOOOOOOOOT though!
 
HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN- 8/10 all kinds of EPIC. The score alone was worth it. Silly gore, but I really dug the gritty 70s/80s Deathwish with a hobo feel. The "bad" Santa got what was coming to him...

Xmen 1st class- it was aight. 6/10 special effects were cheese-ola. Magneto and Xavier were great, the casting was good, the time period was good, just not good enough to dethrone Cap as my hero movie of the year. They should have done a straight reboot with the real Xfactor line up. Something about the movie version of mystique never did it for me, looks even creepier on a kid/teen. The blue paint came off looking waaaay to semi-glossy. They need a matte blue/black tone and lose the spiky tendril things.
 
Ocean Waves I liked it, similar to Whisper of the Heart/Only Yesterday in that it's the "look into the life of" kinda movie, and I quite like these types of movies!
 
30 Minutes or Less - Funnier than I expected, the film doesn't really have any major faults. It will probably hold up as one of the better comedies of the year.
 
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Meh, was alright. Didn't buy the hype that came along with it but still enjoyed the movie. Oh, fuck Elijah Wood in that movie. I seriously wanted to punch him in the face.

The Green Hornet - Pure garbage. Seth Rogen is an annoying fat fuck and nothing more. He can't act and relies on being loud and obnoxious to be funny - which he isn't. The only good things about the movie was Christoph Waltz, as always, and how he died - table legs to the eyes and then consequently shot to all hell.
 
Casino - I think I've now seen pretty much all the well-received gangster movies that have been released in the US since Godfather. That said, I'm not sure why Casino is considered above average. It has the same very predictable rise and fall as every other mafia type movie. From Scarface, to Goodfellas, to Casino, there is never really a doubt about what the ending will be like. Yeah, there are small differences, and you never know for sure who's going to get blasted, but overall, I think I'm done with the genre. The Departed remains my favorite.

Winter's Bone - Very good movie. Jennifer Lawrence really did an amazing job in her role. The movie is worth a watch (and it's on Netflix now!). Two thumbs up from me.
