Surprisingly the Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck

Just saw Munich. I was amazed at how good it was. Part of that might have had something to do with my low expactations however. I was expecting a boring history lesson about the hostage situation at the Munich olympic games but its more like The A-Team (without being jokey or over the top) mixed with The Bourne Identity. I was pleasantly suprised.

Planet Terror in HD!

Insane.... insanely awesome.

Overall everything was great, I loved the 70's explotation feel and story.

I only have one gripe *Heavy Spoilers*
Cherry doesn't get her machine gun leg untill there is like only 15 minutes or so left.

9/10

The Last Samurai 9/10

This one really surprised me, I had some really low expectations for this movie...Normally Tom Cruise gives me a headache, combined with the Assumption Tom Cruise + Samurai = WTF? But this was a really really great movie, The Battles and the drama combined made it feel epic.
American History X.

Wow.
Wow indeed. I should rewatch that at some point. It's been a while.

An Inconvenient Truth

Ugh.

Planet Terror in HD?

Oh, and Shallow Hallowed Ground 2/5

it wasn't as bad as it should have been.

No Country for Old Men. Absolutely fantastic.
American History X.

Wow.
I just bought that. I've been hearing about it for years, but I've never had the opportunity to see it. I'm finally going to watch it this Friday.

I was pretty well impressed by the end of the film. I wasn't 100% convinced on
the complete turnover of the protagonist
but overall, it didn't take away from the entire production.

28 Weeks Later - Ok, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as 28 Days Later but holy jeezus that was rough. There were more problems than I can really go into here but Michael from Lost showing up as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot flying an old French helicopter with seemingly unlimited fuel was enough to make my eyes roll out of my head. The first ten minutes were pretty great but things went downhill quickly.

Mr. Brooks, i was expecting something a lot shittier from the cast involved, but i really enjoyed it. i guess i'm a fan of anti-heroes or something and kevin costner did a fantastic job.

Hollywoodland

It was actually really good...I wasn't sure what to expect from Affleck but he certainly gave an impressive and surprising performance.

Significantly better (and far less unintentionally humorous) than the Black Dahlia Murder.

The Mist. 7/10

Overall I was dissapointed but I had really high expectations going in to it and overall I thought it was great movie, just not as great as I thought it was gonna be.

The begining dragged, but about half way thru it really started rolling.

The end however is one of the saddest I have ever seen.

No Country for Old Men
Lars and the Real Girl
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

All three were top quality cinematic experiences, but I thought
No Country really lost its momentum in the final act. Very anti-climactic
.

Also, Philip Seymour Hoffman might just be my new favorite actor. The man really can do no wrong, IMO.
Really, you were surprised that one of cinema's most cherished films did not suck?
The topic title is misleading, as this is really just a place to post the last movie you saw. In addition, I found Casablanca average. It was an average love story bolstered by its high profile cast.

There should be a properly titled thread for those movies that TRULY DID SUCK.

Sometimes the movies that are named here shouldn't be doubted at all.

To add to that list, Just saw Pirates of the Carribean: At Worlds End...Not a big fan of the franchise but the movies are fun

But this movies was freaking AWESOME! So much action and fighting and something interesting always going on, fantastic FX, fantastic epic Story Bes action ive seen as of lately...GODDAMN Im gonna watch it again tonight at 3:00 in the morning Full blast on my surround sound system and get the cops called on me for cuasing a nusiance.

I suspect I'm alone in this, but I just do not see the appeal of these movies. The first one got me on the promise of Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush in the same freakin' movie...and it was just unbearable. It felt like it was about 14 hours long.

To each his own, of course...but POTC would not be on my Legacy List.

No Country For Old Men. 10/10.

This movie was awesome. Easily the greatest movie of the year. There is no reason why you shouldn't see this, unless you hate movies.

I thought the ending was good also, although it was an abrupt ending, I thought it was a good ending.
Hot Rod. God I love those guys, so damn funny.
That movie was damn funny. I enjoyed it more than Superbad.
Rescue Dawn
I really enjoyed that movie, one of the best war flicks I've seen in a while.

anyway-

Harsh Times.

It was decent.
