Surprisingly the Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck

Nightmare Before Christmas 3D.

Shockingly enough, the 3D actually worked. Wasn't like every other "3D" movie to hit theaters. I remember going and seeing Spy Kids due to the 3D gimmick and leaving and asking for my money back. Not only was the movie itself horrible, the 3D was far from 3D. Just a bunch of red and blue on the screen that gave you a headache.

Night at the Museum - considering how I generally dislike pretty much everything Stiller and Wilson do, I was quite surprised it wasn't the train wreck I was expecting it to be.

My girlfriend and I saw Bee Movie back in May for an advance screening. It wasn't that great then, and I doubt it's changed much.

Did see The Darjeeling Limited last night. Enjoyed it, though it's not for everyone. The short film at the beginning confused most of the crowd, but at least we can all say that Natalie Portman has a nice ass.

The short was interesting, but yeah, I could see how it would throw people. It makes more sense in retrospect after you see the main feature. The first week the film was in release, it ran without the short, which I'm sure had many people wondering what the Hell Natalie Portman was doing in that one montage of all the characters in the train compartments near the end (and they would not have understood the significance of the story Schwarzman reads at the end of the film). You also get to see where he gets the robe he wears for a lot of the film and a better understanding of his character's issues (both with Portman and with not wanting to go home).

And seeing Natalie Portman naked is always justification for inclusion (though the bruises were a turn-off).

American Gangaster was a decent flick. Could have been a little better though, but I'll definately check out the documentary stuff if I can find it.

Sex and Death 101 was pretty funny, if not predictable as hell from the first 10 minutes.

Meet the Robinsons: Better than I though, I originally avoided it because the characters looked really stupid, but I ended up enjoying it.

Captivity: Predictable and not that interesting.

Chuck & Larry on HD - 6/10 maybe. I thought the movie had a few chuckles in it, but the underlying message was just annoying. A propaganda movie.

That message being what? It's okay to make fun of gay people, as long as you half-heartedly defend their lifestyle in the end? Or don't choose a career where you'll be forced to sleep with Adam Sandler to get health benefits?

I guess I felt is was just a little over the top for gay rights....I hav enothing against it, but it felt almost preachy to me.

Good message. Bad movie.
Resuce Dawn - Just a great movie, Christian Bale is awesome.
I enjoyed that as well. Make sure you see "Little Dieter Needs to Fly," Werner Herzhog's documentary about Dieter Dengler which preceded this. If you search this thread, you can see some earlier discussion we had about Rescue Dawn.

28 Weeks Later. I thought it was an awesome movie for it's action, cinematography and for it's great soundtrack. However I was dissapointed that there was no real plot progression.

Well I just watched 1408 HD Directors Cut and I thought it was pretty darn scary. Although I have to say that the ending was a bit lame if you ask me. Also from reading on Wikipedia it sounds like the Theatrical Version had a better ending then the Directors Cut did.

Two really good ones:
Fur - An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus
Hedwig and the Angry Inch

And one giant piece of crap:
Transformers

LOL...I can see how you might get that impression from the titles, but they're definitely not porn.

Something The Lord Made - Alan Rickman, Mos Def

Completly flew under the rader, its a great movie with great acting, amazingly good for an HBO made film. Mos Def does an even better job than when he did 16 blocks (without the annoying accent), a great drama and made me more knowledgeble about medical history.
Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma

This makes Caligula look tasteful. I didn't think it was possible to be more disgusted with humanity more than I already was.
well the title is 120 days of sodom...so you were kind of warned, besides anything that was inspired by the Marquis De Sade...is a good idea to stay away from...unless your into that kind of stuff?:whistle2:# I saw 10 minutes of the film...and i ran off like a little girl, you my friend have a stronger stomach than me.

Last movie i saw:

Ratatouile - 7/10 it was nice

I can't believe you watched that.

Where did you see it? The Criterion Collection DVD is worth, like, $10,000, so I'm assuming that you downloaded it.

There's a lot of mystery surrounding the director's murder. Look it up on Wikipedia; it's an interesting read. (Coulda been the Italian gubmint.)

I think the Criterion is worth over $400 and under $1,000 -- I just have a thing for exaggerating numbers.

Yea, I downloaded it. Wathed it for more or less the same reason I watched Cannibal Holocaust, I.E. to say I did. Got one of my friends to watch it, even despite my warnings.

And yep, Criterion is worth an obscene amount of money, though they're apparently re-releasing it this year (could be old out of date news though).

And yep yep, looked up stuff about the director a while ago, when I first had some interest in the movie. fucked up shit. Now it's time to read the book (which I borrowed from my Dad, of all people).
8/10? Nice, I've been wanting to see it.
Eh my rating may have been a bit high, I enjoyed it quite a bit but then it dragged a bit by the end, i.e. had extra unnecessary scenes when they could have ended it much earlier.

It was still a pretty nice movie though

Ha ha, was it that insane? I've wanted to see it, just to see it, since I heard about it.
Where'd you find it?

PirateBay, if I remember correctly. May have been mininova.
Running With Scissors

Meh. I really loved the book...this just paled in comparison.
Yeah, bad movie. I actually went to a sneak of this attended by Augusten Burroughs. It was really awkward because it was a packed theater and most of the people kinda realized they had just seen a shitty movie, and yet had to be polite because Burroughs came up to do a Q&A afterwards and this was, you know, HIS LIFE. 8-[ Oh well...

The Host. An Awesome monster movie. Sure the plot had a few holes in it but other then that it was great. I loved how they blended comedy and Horror right into one movie but still keeping a level of seriousness.

9/10.
