Surprisingly the Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck

...why do you guys keep posting movies that sucked?
Because this thread was originally a sequel to "The Last Movie You Saw". The title is irrelevant.

Elephant... could have shortened an already short movie to about 40 minutes if they cut out all the following around of students doing nothing... was disappointed, but it was only 3 bucks from Big Lots

Hot Fuzz. Was pretty good. I'm glad they didn't violate Chekhov's Gun after the massive barn-raid early on. I'd like to see slightly fewer bulletproof objects in movies, though. Tables and glass counters can not absorb bullets that well. I guess it's excusable given the movie, but... eh.
Cinderella Man: Ron Howard Fails Again.

Has he ever made a good movie?
I'm with you on Cinderella Man being overrated (and all his newer movies) but as a child of the 80's I loved many Ron Howard movies through my childhood and adolescent years:

Ransom
Parenthood
Cocoon
Splash
Backdraft
Apollo 13
Willow

None are masterpieces of cinema but all were fun popcorn flicks of the 80's and 90's.
The Happening - God awful.
Yeah, anyone thinking about seeing The Happening, save your money - unless watching mass suicide with crappy, fake-looking special effects gets you off. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it. Shyamahamamamalan is just trying to resurrect his career by going for shock value.

If you want to be shocked, watch Funny Games instead. It's just pure brutal torture porn. It was similar to the kinda-meh The Strangers in that
the killers are never really given any background or motive, it's just good old-fashioned "who gives a fuck" remorseless killing.
It reminded me of a movie called "Chaos" where
a guy cuts off a girl's nipple with a knife and stuffs it into her mouth, then proceeds to fuck her after stabbing her to death. He also shoves his knife into another girl's vag, then rapes and kills her.
Both these movies were WAY more realistic-looking than The Happening.
Sex and the City.

It was excellent.
Damn your gay!

Indiana Jones

S U C K ED! Crapy special effects. Damn blue screens! I seen at least three times in the movie where you can tell its a stunt double. In this day and age I shouldn't see a scene that looks like when the spaceballs caught the stunt doubles. It was that bad. I mean its like this skinny old harrision ford becomes big/tall "yellow" man with a gray haired wig on. ( the motorcycle scene)

The story wasn't to to bad but watching the dude swing through the jungle on vives with monkeys, after fighting in between cars with a sword kinda killed it for me!

Le Samouraï

I give it a B+

Alain Delon has always been a fave of mine.
Cathy Rosier is a new favorite, she was so delicate, so pretty in this movie. I hope there's a book with pictures of her somewhere.

I am disappointed in you Dallow.

Le Samourai is one of the best films of all time.

Meh. I've seen better.

It was very good of course, I'm not taking anything away from it.
I noticed he used some Kurosawa type wipes/transitions between scenes. Very few though.
Thought that was strange.

Watched kung fu panda. I really liked it. Lots of good voice talent and good action ( werid huh) and some funny scenes. One of the better family movies.
Judge Dredd

Damn, that was actually worse than I remember.
Funny, I actually think that as that film ages, it gets better. I actually wish I could find it on sale somewhere in a $5 bin or something.

Hot Fuzz really surprised me. I wasn't expecting a whole lot because I thought Shaun of the Dead was only decent, but Hot Fuzz became one of the most enjoyable action movies I've seen.

I really liked how they spoofed some things without beating you over the head with the spoofiness.

Chinatown - I loved the performances, but found the story too wavering and a little bit on the lame side. The ending is only merely passable, otherwise, it would have ruined the entire movie. I would have to say that I prefer, and slightly enjoyed more, L.A. Confidential.

wwwThe Incredible Hulk - Mounds better than the first. If you're even remotely interested in seeing this one, but were shying away because of the first, don't. The first was g-d-awful, this one fixes many of the first's mistake, and then some. Very enjoyable flick, especially with different flavored popcorn (i.e. whatever that popcorn flavoring is called).

Theater - Iron Man....totally surprised me. I expected a C- and got a B+.

Home: Tokyo Zombie basically the greatest movie ever made ever for all time.
GO GO GO AND WATCH IT, YOU CAN THANK ME LATER. It's basically the most
awesome movie ever if you love Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

id like to throw in a vote for Jumper. It had alot of cool stuff going for it and it makes me want to read the book . yeah hayden still sucked but aside from that theres alot you could do with that especially in a sequel . theres a shitload of awesome sequel potential there.

Saw three movies today one after the other.

Love Guru - Bland Comedy. Mike Meyers was great in it, but everyone else was meh.
Don't Mess With a Zohan - I actually liked this movie a lot. Very funny and they had Persians spot on... haha.
Happening- Not as terrible as I thought it was going to be. But it was bad. Cool idea, horribly executed.

Cool. That movie got horrible reviews and word of mouth. But I actually loved it, very entertaining. (Agreed Hayden sucks)

The Great Dictator - 10/10 I love this movie!!! Excellent, superb! Wonderful. Just awesome. Every movie that satirizes war, condemns politics, etc. wishes it could only hold a candle to this movie. Charlie Chaplin is a genius. Fantastic. If you haven't seen it, then don't shy away. Every time I see this film, it gets better.

The Happening - 4/10 One word sums up this film, lame. This movie sucked. Hard. I feel like a fool, now, giving that Sham another chance. Mark my words, I will never be tricked into seeing one of his films again. This time I decided to go in without reading any threads, any advance screenings, any reviews, any prior information. While the concept the movie plays on is fascinating, the overall effect is nonsubstantive, lacking in all sense, and just plain retarded. Who keeps on giving this man money? I guess the same people that give Uwe Boll money, or something. Lackidasical (sp not a spelling major), terrible characters, cliched and stereotyped characters (why stereotype our military like that from the days of Andy Griffith?) This movie is crap. Don't go and see. Don't even rent. This is three failures in a row. First was The Village, which I sadly saw in theatres (I still wish for my time back from that piece of crap); then came Lady in the Water, which thank g-d I only merely rented, but this is the last straw. I will never give M Sham another chance. His time has come and gone. He got lucky with a couple good movies, that is all. It's as though he's lost every little iota of mojo he once had as a director. I wouldn't trust anything in his hands anymore, not if I certainly expect to make any money from it (unless I felt generous and wanted to give it to him rather than a charity). Fascinating concept which is poorly executed from the get go.

I liked the Zohan as well, then again, I got a lot of the inside jokes, and some of the jokes tucked away. My friend didn't like it as much, but he can be weird at times about movies.

I also thought Jumper was good. I, personally, didn't mind Hayden that much. I loved the concept, flaws in all. A sequel with a little tighter writing, or perhaps more summer blockbuster status attached to it, would definitely help it. It too made me want to read the novel, which was surprisingly not bad.

What were the inside jokes in Zohan? Like Adam Sandler inside jokes? Or what?

Yea, I enjoyed Jumper because I really love the idea and made me really want teleporting powers... And I went into it hearing that it was TERRIBLE and it's one of the worst movies ever made, and so I saw it after seeing one movie and decided to get into Jumper and was surprised.

Children of Men in HD... first time the wife has seen it, she watched the whole thing

Glad to hear there are some other Chaplin fans in CAG... amazingly Great Dictator os one of the couple Chaplin film I own that I have yet to see (love the Gold Rush, Modern Times, and City Lights), but after the glowing recommendation, Ill have to fire it up soon
