Looks like there's hope for you after all, dc. :)

Last night: Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Great for a movie attached to a cartoon. The Dee Dee twins were some of my favorite henchmen ever. :)

Today: Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Certainly better than the first. I just can't get myself to like Hellboy though. He's just one of those guys. =/
Hiccup Leftovers... Funny that you just watched Rock and Roll HS too... I do enjoy Roger Corman movies (Death Race 2000 on of the best)... picked mine up from Big Lots because alot of the people on dvd talk loved it...

Just finished Feast on HD-dvd... glad they are making 2 sequels...
I loved Death Race 2000 and am so sad they remade it. Of course, it'll suck donkey balls, but I guess that goes without saying (so why'd I just type that?).

The Big Doll House with Pam Grier was awesome from him as well.

How long ago did you pick up Rock N Roll HS? I had to rent it again to watch it recently, but I so want/would love a copy.

I dont even act as if the new Death Race movie even exists... Picked up my copy of Rock and Roll HS about 2 months ago... out of about 6-7 Big Lots ive been to, Ive seen one copy which I have

The Dark Knight- An incredible film (saw it for second time LAST Saturday)
Wall-E- amazing (saw for the second time the same day as The Dark Knights second viewing)
Kill Bill vol.2- Insanely good
Untraceable- Ok. Actually it was kind of generic and sucky. The end was a mix of awesome and suck.
Next- saw it again, this time on HD-DVD. Nothing special, but its a fun film.
Lars and the Real Girl- TERRIFIC performance from Ryan Gosling. Great film.

I've had a really solid run of movies recently.

Phantom of the Opera. Wasn't great, but was better than I expected from Joel Schumaker. Emmy Rossum was great in the lead, but the other main roles weren't that great. Enjoyed it more when I saw it on stage in Baltimore a few years back, but still worth a go if you're a fan.

I finally got around to watching The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. A very fun light hearted flick with a very likable good guy, Steve Wiebe.

Finally got to see Dark Knight on Sunday and it was good. Christian Bale's gravel-y Batman voice never bothered me as much as it does some people. I don't ever remember loving Joker so much in the cartoons but this movie one was great. It's too bad about Heath Ledger because I don't think they can just up and replace him in a probable sequel.

Crap...and here I was hoping to pick up a copy...then again, I never really get anything good from Big Lots, even though some people report great finds.

His voice never bothered me either.

It won't be easy replacing Ledger after the performance he gave. His performance will go down into the history books as one of the screen's finest. Still, with a bit luck, and a nice big blank check, they might be able to find a solid substitute because it'll be impossible to replace him. I instantly thought of Daniel Day Lewis or Johnny Depp as two candidates. I think both have the talent and skill to rise to the occasion and meet the part as Ledger personified it. It'll be tough, and the comparisons will be inevitable, but it can be done.

You'll never see the Joker again. If Ledger was still around, maybe. But with him gone, there's no reason for the Joker to appear in a sequel. For better or worse, the franchise is about Batman, not the Joker, and there are more than enough villains to chose from for the next outing.

So who's next? Well, I don't think you could ever make the Penguin or Killer Croc work in Nolan's version of Gotham. But I think the Riddler could certainly be reimagined and made very compelling...Make him more along the lines of Kevin Spacey in Se7en....Brilliant, reclusive, laying out elaborate riddle trails (and victims). Always one step ahead (admittedly, somewhat derivative of Ledger's Joker). There are other ways you could go too, such as to make him like an evil Bill Gates...Super rich, reclusive ultra nerd...Nice foil to Batman. Mr. Freeze also comes with a lot of pathos and could work with the Nolan touch.

The one thing that makes me sad about no more Joker is there's less chance we'll see Harley Quinn. Or maybe we could. Maybe she could turn up to avenge him? Bring on the bad girls.
With Rachel Dawes dead
, you've cleared the way for Catwoman (tough to top Michelle Pfeiffer's turn in this role) as a love interest. Poison Ivy could also be worked in. Batman versus three chicks....Who wouldn't love that?

tried watching doomsday the other night, but fell asleep before it got to the good parts. (I was only about 20 minutes in) I'll try to watch again tonight.

I saw Pineapple Express earlier tonight. Oh my god, a movie hasn't made me laugh so much or so hard in a long time. I'll admit, the humor is not very deep and the movie isn't going to make you reflect on your life but it's supposed to make you laugh and it does a damn good job of it. I think I was laughing just about the entire time. Has the Apatow and Rogen combination made anything other than great movies yet? By the way, James Franco and Danny McBride did a great job.

Pineapple Express was sold out and the manager wouldn't make another showing...so we went and watched Saved!. Pretty good movie I suppose.

Pineapple Express was far better than SuperBad last year...and even Step Brothers just last week

Hell, it's my new #1 for the year (H&K2 used to be, fwiw)

Funny, funny stuff

Barry Lyndon - It is sad, but I doubt we will ever see a director who is such a film virtuous as in Kubrick ever again. Fantastic movie. Probably his most underrated film. There isn't much character attachment in the film, nor do I think Kubrick intended any, but the film is bleak and yet marvelous all at the same time. I usually don't like costume set-pieces like this, but this one sets the bar for all those other foofy, hoighty-toighty (sp) films to follow. Simply stunning. I doubt it will ever be mirrored, and try as they may, nothing will come close to this. None of the costume bullshit pieces of today (i.e. Elizabeth, Shakespeare in Love, etc.) can even fathom coming close to the excellence in this one. I must admit that it is a bit long, but I never found it tedious. I still had to pause/stop it about 2/3rds of the way in to get some sleep for the next day. I absolutely loved the first part of the film with the 7-years war scenes. Now if only they could do a revolutionary war film (not the lame Patriot with Mel Gibson) shot just as Kubrick did for this war.

It's late out here, and I'm sleepy, so forgive any grammatical or spelling mistake for the rest of this post. I, personally, still think that the Joker can be done in Nolan's vision for the series. It would make sense, and at the end of TDK just feels like it's set for something like that to take place. Again, R.I.P. and it is so sad that Ledger had to die. It would just take an actor of great magnitude to step into the part. The problem that would really arise is that fact that any further actor will inexplicably be compared to that of Ledger's performance. I don't know if any actor will want to undertake such a task as it could end up undermining their career. This isn't simply a simple casting switch, such as from Katie "wacko (we don't want you, we'll call you - don't call us)" Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhall. At this point, the Joker is Heath Ledger and I think that as time goes by, he will further be identified as the character. It would be like taking Marlon Brando out of the Godfather. You just simply couldn't see it be done.

I think with some alterations, the Penguin could absolutely be done. Tell the tale a bit darker, say he became what he is by being mutated from some chemical/product from Wayne Industries that either he took as a baby or his parent(s) took while they were pregnant with him, thus causing complications during the pregnancy/infancy. Throw in something like the city/government in Gotham simply didn't act sufficiently and he find them responsible and wants to become the mayor of the city to enact his revenge/power/etc. (kind of a metaphor for our recent problems with a number of Chinese products). Or in a slight modification from the above, he could have had a terrible childhood and had to struggle and scrimp his way to a position of power, one where is he ruling the underworld, looking for power, etc. It would need a great actor for the part, but it could be done.

Killer Croc doesn't really fit anywhere in the Nolan universe, and anyhow, he never was one of the ultra-rogues in Batman's rogues gallery. Then again, it is rumored that the black prisoner at the end of the film might be Killer Croc. I guess it could be done, I just don't see how they would get the skin disease/croc-like being done.

Riddler absolutely works in Nolan's vision. Strange, though, that it would thus set up the third film to have Two-Face/Riddler in it again. It could play a bit awkward.

Mr Freeze would definitely work.

Personally, and this might just be me, but I'd love to see some rogues that have become popular in recent times come to the big screen. I think that with how well it dealt with Harvey Dent, that Hush would be absolutely perfect and fit in wonderfully into the setting Nolan has built for himself. Of course, then the Riddler would have to first come into play.

The other recent rogue I would like to see is the Black Mask. If I had to choose one or the other, I would go with Hush because I can absolutely see how that would just kick ass.

Regardless, I wouldn't mind seeing the Riddler done again, or a proper Mr. Freeze. I really don't care in either direction if they do Catwoman, but hopefully Nolan can finally change my mind about that character (though Pfeifer (sp) was great in the second one from Burton)

Any other recent rogues you guys would include?

Evil Dead II, I've been in love with Campbell for the past few days and this one was much better than the first, my only hatred with it was that it makes it seem like this is a brand new movie and Evil Dead I didn't really happen.

Human Traffic - Centers around a group of friends and drug/club culture in the UK. It's great. It's hilarious. Highly recommend.
The Kingdom - I was a little skeptical going in but this movie was just excellent. I'm surprised it didn't do better in the theaters.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (8/10) - solid comedy. Russel Brand is hysterical, by far the stand out actor in the movie. Jonah Hill was decent, nothing fantastic from him in the movie which was sorta a let down since he really tore up Knocked up & Superbad. The writing is solid which says a lot for Jason Segel, im sure we will be seeing more from him in the writing department. Oh and Mila Kunis is in it...

The Bank Job- Entertaining, but way too long.

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay- Not as funny as the sequel. Kumar looks a lot older than he did in the first film.
