Surprisingly the Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck

Bender's Game - it was ok...kinda lame for Futurama but I'll take it

Max Payne - Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Probably one of the best video game based movies I've seen.
Just watched Dr. Strangelove for the first time in YEARS. I had forgotten just how GOOD that movie is.
I love that movie, as if you couldn't tell by my avatar.
Gran Torino - fcking awesome
I second that!

I normally don't like movies like that and I'm not really a fan of Clint Eastwood, but I really enjoyed that movie.
Will Virtual Boy classes that came with Nintendo Power work?
if they're 3d glasses, I don't see why not

Four Brothers -- Caught this at the theaters and it's still enjoyable.
Ratatouille -- I had gotten tired of watching CG movies but this was enjoyable as well.
Reign Over Me -- Meh. Not my cup of tea.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall -- So I sort of like/hate That 70's Show but I did not like Mila Kunis' character. Turns out she's pretty good. I liked the movie.

List of movies I've seen recently.

Paprika - I knew what was going on, but in a way I had no idea what the fuck I was watching. 3/5

Persoplis - This was a very good film, nice truthful adaptation from the comic book. 5/5

RockinRolla - Not what I was expecting, Took a while for it to get everything rolling, entertaining once it finally started. 4/5

Lakeview Terrace - Samuel L Jackson plays a Violent racist LAPD officer (Surprsing!) Kinda shy's away from race issues but entertaining couple film. 3/5

The Wrestler -Phenomenal, Amazing perfermance by Ol' rourke, I can see why he won a best actor award for this, He plays it solid and painful. 5/5
Just watched Donnie Darko for the first time ever...wtf was the end???? I'm trippin'.
I dunno but the music's good.

There are a million fansites on the internet that try and explain the movie. I think they're just trying to convince themselves that the movie is waaaaaaay deeper than it really is. All that aside, I still like the movie.

Speaking of Donnie Darko, ON BLU-RAY NEXT MONTH!

I'd seen it before, but I just watched Under Suspicion, with Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, and Monica Belluci. Great movie the first time you watch it, different than the typical movie formula too, which is what I like.

Well, I may have to visit a few to try and get an explanation of what the fuck that ending was all about. He was dead or what? If so, who's delusion was that whole thing? Why did I decide to watch that movie after having a few cocktails?

Slumdog Millionaire - A worthy effort, one of the best films of 2008. IMO it felt like a less violent more love centered version of City of God.

In the beginning, Donnie Darko avoids being killed by the plane engine "that is unaccounted for" when he sleepwalks to safety (led by Frank?). In the end, Donnie Darko travels back in time to the beginning of the movie. When he travels back in time and goes back to sleep, he knows that he will be killed by the plane engine from the future. Since he dies at the end (actually the beginning), nothing that happened during the movie actually occurs. So Gretchen never meets Donnie, Frank is never shot by Donnie after running over Gretchen, Patrick Swayze's character is yet to be discovered, etc.

Basically, Donnie kills himself so that Gretchen will not die. That is why in the last scene Donnie's neighbor asks Gretchen if she knew Donnie and she says "no".

Ahhhh...makes sense (esp. now that I'm sober.) Thx!

Glad I was not the only one who saw the movie that way. It's the classic "go back in time to change the present or future".

Movies I recent saw that I liked:

Pineapple Express - Thought it was hilarious.
Into the Wild - Amazing shots of wildlife and the beautiful planet. About a man that is tired of conforming to the norms of society. After graduating for college he runs off on an adventure throughout the USA.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall - It was good but not the best effort by producer.
Juno - Great film funny and touching.

The Invasion
Sunshine
The Wrestler

Thoroughly enjoyed all three of them, particularly the last one. Sunshine, I was a bit put off by the third part, but still overall highly enjoyable.

Very Bad Things - 8/10

LMAO! Oh man... again I'm not sure if I should be horrified or laugh my ass off. I THANK GOD NONE OF THE BACHELOR PARTIES I'VE GONE TO HAS BEEN ANYWHERE REMOTELY CLOSE TO THIS MOVIE.

School For Scoundrels - 3/5 It was okay and had some funny moments. Not the greatest comedy ever, but for the four dollars I paid for it I was satisfied.

The Heartbreak Kid - 3/5 This was a notch above School For Scoundrels, but there were too few jokes that hit. Some of the ones that did were really funny though. The HD transfer is really solid as well.

Gran Torino - 4.5/5 Incredible. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time and the first one in a long time that really got me to be emotionally invested.

Tears of the Sun - Overflowing with cheese but an OK action flick if you don't take it to seriously.

Pineapple Express
- It put me to sleep, it could have used more polish.

Helvetica - Awesome and eye-opening documentary. Mind your fonts!

Lady in the Water - Everything said about this steaming pile is true. Stupefyingly awful.

300 - Silly war porn.

Saw Rojin Z in one of my classes today. Pretty good, probably wouldnt have looked into it, but its suprisingly good. And I didnt know it was from the same director of Akira and Golden Boy either.

The Unborn-Pretty good. Was expecting less since it was PG-13.

Rocky 1-3- All awesome.
How was that?
It's very very gory. And I mean incredibly gory.

Other than that, it takes itself seriously at parts, and other parts are hilarious.

Worth watching if you're interested in it.

Freddy Rodriguez was the only good part. Lol at that huge arm.

Transporter 3

It was meh...held my attention on the plane. I could have done without the love story shit but since they threw it in there I could have at least seen the chick naked (the scene in the gas station doesnt count).

Also, no one starts a car 15 minutes after it was on the bottom of a river.

If you like Kevin James and his type of comedy you are sure to like it. They use a lot a physical comedy and fat jokes but It was pretty funny for a PG. There are no ROTFLOL moments but there were few moments when people were not laughing.
