P.S. I Love You - 7/10

Hmm... well, I saw the cast line up in the beginning and thought how is this going to be a good movie? It wasn't actually that bad. I really liked Harry Conic Jr's character. Always did like Gina Gershon.
 
Star Trek '09 - fucking awesome - especially worth it to see on an IMax.

Candyman - off of Fearnet on the ol' boobtube back home. Pretty boring, bland, and shitty actually, though it was really trying for that psychological mind fuck theme that is prevalent in Barker's work.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - I actually like it. I haven't read many reviews, or other CAGs' opinions, but I thought it was pretty decent, or at least better than the crap Last Stand was. Still, there is so much more potential to the Gambit character that was under utilized. I also hated his actor, and that was a pathetic Cajun accent if he was ever attempting one. Ryan Reynolds as Dead Pool was awesome. His scene (prior to the Deadpool transformation) were some of the best of the entire movie, yes, even the splitting the bullit scene. I wish his turning into Deadpool had been treated a bit better though.

Pulse (88 film) - Again from Fearnet. Passable. It's a time waster. Nothing that great, though you see 2 out of the 3 Lawrence Brothers when they were younger and how much technology has transformed and transitioned in the past 20 years.

He's Just Not That Into You (2009)

Decent romantic comedy, that doesn't go with the usual romantic comedy routines. The most impressive thing about the film is the big cast. Ginnifer Goodwin is super cute as always, in the main female lead, and Justin Long again proves he should be getting more leading roles.

It's missing Rube and they changed the actress for Daisy, but other than that, it feels like a longer episode. Not bad, and leaves it open for the series to come back, which would be nice.
 
Inherit the Wind - Amazing/Stupendous sums it up nicely. Really is a fascinating philosophical film over the nature of evolution, religion, and their place in our society. Interesting to see how the nature of truth, belief, and faith are all discussed in the film.

Yeah, I knew that Rube wouldn't be in it since he's still doing Criminal Minds I believe. I think something similar happened to the actress who played Daisy Adair, but I don't mind. It's good to know that it wasn't too bad. Some people said it was awful and destroyed the show. I know it's on Netflix instawatch, so I'll do that first, but because I'm a completist who loves this show, I'll probably purchase DVD sometime soon.
 
Ghost Ride Duh Whip Duh Hyphy Movement - -100000/10

I guess I asked for it... I thought it would be entertaining or at least see some idiots die but no... They had to make it all like a tribute vid and be proud about it. :roll:

It's fucking lame... the first like 10 min they blame the past about the man keeping the black guy down. They go back to historic events and claim that they shaped these fads of today yet they have NOTHING to do with ghost riding duh whip. Only lasted 30 min of the vid which is pretty amazing if you ask me. I'd go on, but I'm sure I'd get called a racist some how... :roll:
 
Zack and Miri Make a Porno - I had been wanting to see this one ever since it was released in theatres and I missed it. Thanks to Netflix, I finally have. I thought it was great. Very fun and loving comedy from Kevin Smith. Definitely worth it, and Elizabeth Banks is hot. I might have to actually buy this one now.

Taken - Went to the el cheapo movie theatre for this one. $3 and it was pretty good, but way over hyped from my friends and from people on CAG. Good, but nowhere as good as some make it out to be. Just a solid action flick.

"Good" and "flick" have no relevance to Taken. It is simply Liam Neeson murdering people for 90 minutes. (I liked it!)

Recapping what I've watched from the DVD collection lately:
Gladiator - Somewhat of a guilty pleasure, it is my favorite movie. A guilty pleasure because I'm aware of it's faults, and I've certainly seen better films, but I just don't care.
Braveheart - It certainly is Braveheart. Mel Gibson thought he was too old for the role, but Paramount wouldn't produce the movie if he didn't star. Gibson was right. Interestingly, it only made $10 million its opening weekend.
Stand by Me - One of the best movies of the 80's.

It's not that it ruins the series, but it is nowhere near as good as the series was.

I thought as far as the story, it answered maybe one or two questions left over from the series and left a boatload of stuff unanswered. Plus this film, like many TV episodes, has two stories progressing at the same time. The one involving George is good, the other involving the rest of the cast is horrible.

Actually Mandy Patinkin walked off Criminal Minds due to some newfound belief that violence is bad. The actress who played Daisy Adair was under contract filming Women's Murder Club so she couldn't be in the film. The new actress looks nothing at all like her but Daisy Adair isn't that deep a character so it's not really that different.

From Justin to Kelly is a guilty pleasure, Son of the Mask is a guilty pleasure, Pluto Nash is a guilty pleasure, not a decent film like Gladiator. Be proud of your love for incestuous Joaquin Phoenix and Russel Crow drooling on the charred remains of his family.
 
Watched the following yesterday:
Cabaret (1972)- Solid Musical with incredible performances matched with a decent plotline. Its a very bizzare film.
Aeon Flux- Awful.
Chicago (2002)- I watched it for the gazillionth time yesterday. Its excellent, and way up there on my guilty pleasures list.
Broken Flowers (2005)- Another trainwreck. The story goes absolutely nowhere, and the ending fittingly accomplishes nothing.

TAKEN was so class. Reminded me of the Bournes. The hand to hand Krav-maga-whatever. When the violence makes me wince I like! Liam as Bronson/Segall worked well. My wife even enjoyed, after she got over the fact that the voice of Aslan was murdering. Could watch every six months or so. Anybody seen the last RAMBO? Still haven't seen that 1.
 
Taken-Really enjoyed it, but for some reason I could not get over Maggie Grace's bedazzeled jean jacket it almost runied the movie for me

The Rocker-I was kind of surprised it was a half decent movie
 
High Noon (1952)- It was a pretty good movie. Some great performances, but nothing all that mind blowing

Bonnie and Clyde (1967)- I was actually pretty disappointed with this one.

On The Waterfront (1954) - An absolute masterpiece!

Total fucking garbage. It's really just Rambo literally shooting peoples' limbs off for the whole movie. It's more comical than anything.

I hadn't known that about Mandy Patinkin....hmmm..kind of strange, but I guess whatever floats your boat or whatever. I knew that the actress who played Daisy Adair had some contract or something.

Also, you should go back and watch the series, they really did begin to flesh out the character of Daisy, plus I was expecting a love triangle between her and Mason, and there was definitely some emotional/character depth layered into her.
 
Frontier(s) - off of good ol' FearNET on the ol' boobtube. I really dig this French New Wave/Renaissance in horror that's been coming out lately, mainly High Tension and this film (didn't care too much for Them and there are a few others I haven't seen yet), but there is constantly so much loaded potential in these films, but always tend to get lost towards there endings. Superb suspense and horror through out, but by the end it just seems the director doesn't know how to end his film properly, or just tie up the story together. Frontier(s) falls into that same trap. The action is really tight, but the story is loose in too many elements to the point where we are just putting guesses at how things are connected, unlike what we should do with some of the gore in the film.

He is great as Dogberry in Much Ado. One of the most entertaining Shakespearean film adaptations. Keanu sucks in it, though.

In the Valley of Elah
30 minutes of post-critical thinking made me appreciate it much more in how everything concluded the way it did.
