Hell I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and I got a message this mourning that they are "having difficulty getting ahold of my item" and asked if I would be willing to wait till mid March to get mine....

Means the guide either is not coming out or is going to be hella limited I bet.

I may call Gamestop later to see if they got any in. Will pay a bit more but least will get it.

I just sold one of my past Tactics Ogre guides that was also worthless for $50. I was looking at it in the sense of for $12 there is a chance its good and if its bad chances are I can flip it for profit 2 or 3 years from now anyways.

The old Tactics Ogre guide is worth that much? I stil have my PS1 guide hmmmmm.

Yeah you can get $35ish to $70ish depending on market and when/where you sell.
 
My game came today, the tarot cards were much better than I was expecting for a pre-order bonus. In fact, I'm really glad I chose the pre-order bonus over getting the limited EU edition.

Yeah they were very very nice. They are probably going to be rare since Amazon has already de listed them too.

It did change the price from $12.50 to $13.soemthing though to.

im glad i didnt pay 40 for this game... got the game Thursday off gamefly..

unless im getting way too use to the DSI XL screens (then again i can play lord of arcana without problems)

Everything looks either pulled or tiny... not really worth 40 i think ( even though i will admit i only played it for around 15 mins --- probally gets better the longer you play it..


could keep the game for 29.69 + tax at gamefly... (too bad gamefly didnt have a 10 off 30 coupon around anymore)

the only game im even tempted to get is YS 1 and 2 for the PSP but i think that is nothing more then a clone of the DS cart ... so there is nothing i want...So i guess i could always hold this game till the weekend and then deside what to do.

Toss it in the mail Tuesday they would have it back thurday when the YS game comes out....

Your complaining about the graphics....of a Tactics game? First off gameplay is all that matters but second off you should have known better. I mean its like buying Call of Duty and expecting a brilliant story....
 
Eh, I think the visuals are quite good. Sprites look pretty simple and that's fine. The battles are still very sizable (hence the "smaller" look), the portraits are beautifully drawn and the menus are slick. Plus the spells looks quite good and loading times are practically absent so moves come out like butter.

Oh and could you change the title of the thread? I think everyone is just going to post here as the Tactics Ogre thread.

no i mean for some reason the graphics just looked crushed up. maybe getting too much game play on the dsi xl or something ..... the graphics look nice but they just sort of smooched up or something (sort of look distored) maybe my psp is getting ready to go out as well.....

i figured i keep it till tuesday and then figure return it or buy it for 30

Only on CAG would the discussion thread for a game have a title like this. Almost as good as when the thread everyone used to discuss that DS Dragon Quest game was titled "Don't buy Dragon Quest [whatever] because [stupid complaint]".

Man only a few battles in and this game is kicking my ass. I do not know why I do so well with other tactics games, board games, RPGs and other things of this nature....but I just SUCK at the Ogre series.

Anyone have any tips? Useful classes, places to grind, classes to focus on or that are pretty useless? So far I am mostly using the story characters that have come along through these first 4 or 5 battles. I have two Knights, Two Clerics(three if you count Denams Sis), a Warrior, Rune Knight, archer and finally a wizard.
 
I've been making a b-line straight for the target on the tougher fights, perhaps you're supposed to. The valkyrie/rune lancers don't seem very effective just yet. And archers do get their shots blocked a lot, it seems. Probably best to stick with a heavy amount of melee for now.
 
Do most of the special characters that join your party stay with you? I have been using that knight and priest that joined in like the 3rd or 4th battle(after the exorcism fight against the female necro)but I am worried that since I can not use them in random battles they may not be perma chars.
 
I think once a character falls under your control and is not just a guest, it's safe to say they are yours to keep and probably won't factor into the narrative any longer.

About the in-battle graphics looking smushed, it's because they're rescaled to better fit the PSP's screen. You can push square+down in battle to zoom out and they won't look squished anymore. Also, if you can deal with everything being a little tiny, this looks incredible.

Finally got to play a little more of this and I can't say enough good things about it. It's got the typical Matsuno attention to detail; I'm constantly impressed by all the background info and embellishment that's just there for atmosphere. The visuals--from the spell effects, to the character portraits, to the depth of field effect on the map and even just the interface--are beyond gorgeous. And my god, the soundtrack.

I have to confess that I didn't make it too far into the PS1 version (probably because I kept getting dominated) so I never got the full experience, but this really feels like a director's cut edition in the best way possible. It's a real tragedy that the FFT port didn't receive this level of polish. A Vagrant Story rerelease of this caliber is a real long shot, but I'd probably drop dead from excitement if they announced one.

Yeah I contacted Amazon about it today and they said something like "we have received a large number of interest in this item and as a result sold through our shipment" when I pointed out I preordered they offered to upgrade me to overnight shipping....so awesome...I have overnight shipping on something I should have had a week ago.

Yeah we actually have one block where within 5 mins of each other there are 3 gamestops. Its only about 10 mins from where we shop so I figured id call all 3 and hope at least 1 has it in stock. I planned on shopping this weekend but Christ with how limited this guide seems to be I think I will run and grab it tonight if it is available. Sucks too I hate supporting gamestop and after taxes it will cost me about $21 vs $12 on amazon!

Edit - Grrrrrr so I just called 5 gamestops and none have it. The closest gamestop to have one is 45 mins away from me!


Edit 2 - Grrrr I am also banned from gamestop.com so I cant freaking get one from them even when I check out as a guest! Guess I am stuck hoping my amazon copy comes....in 2 months.

They had a buy 2 get 1 sale that stacked with CAG16 and your edge card and free shipping awhile back for a few hours at the start of the sale. I bought 12 copies of modern warefare 2 when it was still a new game for like $20 a copy then turned around and flipped them to gamestop who was having a 50% extra trade in credit sale for like $200 over the price I bought them for(and got enough points to get a $20 PSN card from rewards points). They would not take 12 copies of the same game though because it looks like stolen product, so the only choice I had was to show them my gamestop.com receipt. I knew it was a risk and sure enough I got banned for it, but hey I made $200 and a PSN card off the deal ;) and hey I rarely shop at gamestop anymore and 90% of the time when I do I buy old games and have to return 70% of it because it comes incomplete and scratched to hell.
