CAGiversary!
How about a thread for those in the Tampa Bay area. Should save looking through massive amounts of threads when you want to pick up a quick game in the Tampa Bay area.

Deals I've found

Polarium 7.48 (10 or so copies left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and 275

Meteos 7.48 (piles, more than 15 left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and Ehrlich/Bearss

For all DS fans out there the EZ pawn on corner of Sligh and Armenia has a ton of DS games. They were all marked at $17.99. I only looked at Children of Mana (which there was 4 of) which was complete. They also had Sonic, a few Scurges, several Pirates of the Carribean, Brain Age, a few Tony Hawks, and the prize of the bunch (and possilby the only game worth the $18) was Mario Kart DS, which there was opnly 1 of.

You think they are stolen? Kind of weird for them to get so many of one copy of the same game.

I'm starting my quest for Component cables at Wal-Mart today, so I'll let everyone know if I find any.

Well does anyone know whats gonna happen with trade in prices now that Gamestop monopoly?

If you didnt know they will drop like a crackhead looking for a rock.

My sources at a gamestop already told me the prices are dropping quickly in bay area due to their monopoly. No more old school games in any retail store aka snes, n64, genesis, ps1, nes, dreamcast. Gamestop stopped carrying all that when they merged with EB.

Gamestop / EB prices are unified across the country... they don't adjust prices based on certain regions.

Gamestop already had a monopoly here anyways since nobody shopped at Rhino.

Being that I live abvout a 30 Second drive away form there, I might go pick up Pirates when I get a sec.

Walmart on US 19 had the Wii Compo cables on Sunday, I didnt get them because I really havent seen the difference in graphics on my LCD TV between compo and av.

My friends in NYC do not get the same trade in values as my friends in Cali, I think the trade in values are different due to different markets have different tastes for games, maybe their sale items and prices for new items are the unified, but trades are different from what my friends tell me. Just like not every kmart and tru has the same items on clearance all over the country.

The one next to Circuit City?

There is a few on US 19... you mean the Wal-Mart next to CC, it's not a super wal-mart, it's kind of always busy, close to Countryside? Or the Super Wal-Mart on US 19 still in Saint Pete?

And I've been using the CAG wiki for trades for about a year now, and I've never had it be different than any other value posted in there.

The one by Park Blvd and US 19, next to the rudest gamestop in park mall. Where you call for something and then drive and they say they dont have it.

And that Gamestop smells inside too... I've had my problems there too, it really is the rudest Gamestop in town.

Thanks a ton, I will head over there first then before I go to Rhino. Did they have alot of them left?

This is the last thing I need to get before the Wii comes tomorrow :D

I saw about 4 of them, wish I had known people wanted them, would have bought them to give to you guys.

If anyone has wii sports and is done with it, I have RAMPAGE brand new for wii to trade for it.

Nah, it's cool, my bank actually has an ATM in there so I can kill two birds with one stone. Thanks for the heads up though :)

No, I think some place went out of business. I've seen common DS games in bunches everywhere lately, and they have all looked new. The Children of Mana I looked at was definetly never played and I think the pawn shop got it new and ripped off the plastic. I am going to wait a few weeks and try to buy a few of the games for $10 apiece.

In other news, Wii restock was this morning at several stores (TRU Fowler, Target?, Wal Mart?), sold out right away while the PS3 sits on the shelves. Anyone else think Sony might be in trouble if this continues?

What game store went out of business? They could have been games that people bought off the internet with discounts and stuff, or they could have been stolen, not a lot of legit stuff would be given away to pawn shops in my opinion, they give less then the game stores. No way to track DS games if they were stolen to begin with.

Sony is in big trouble, they anounced today no PORN would be on blue-ray porn helped spur the DVD format, so its yet another format sony has made that will fail, umd, beta max, MD music discs.

Ok, I am done with it now, I am called a gamestop for a game, they told me they had it, then I went there and they claimed they never told me they had it. I have over 1000 video games, mostly collecting dust since I only play monkey ball, so who wants to go in on a video game store?

If we get $5000 from 10 people, we could give a huge run to gamestop monopoly.

We could call it Cheap A** Game Store.

who down with the idea who has $5000

Awesome, that Wal-Mart on US 19 still has the Wii Component cables, if anyone is interested. I would have picked up a few but they took my bank out of that Wal-Mart so I couldn't get to an ATM... I just had enough to get one pair.

They are in the accessories aisle, but HIDDEN on the bottom shelf... I missed them 3 or 4 times since some bag was covering them. They have 3 sets left after I bought mine, $19.77 per set.

Grabbed Elebits and Metal Slug from Rhino... sad to see it go.

By your last post in the Rhino thread it sounds like theyre not caring too much anymore. Maybe ill try to bring in some more Ape Escape 3 & Nightmare's. I still got Odama and another Wheel of Fortune to trade in.

Well, it was the girl, and the guy who was there has been cool and has never cared. I'm pretty sure if you get the stick in the ass manager he's definitely going to care.

Glad I could help you out Roufuss. The manager at rhino wont be the manager much longer, can almost count on it, when ever there is a hostile take over as the blindsiding of Rhino, the rhino people will eventually be replaced with managers from stores they already own. You cant have managers who do not know gamestop policy run a gamestop converted store.

The one by Park Blvd and US 19, next to the rudest gamestop in park mall. Where you call for something and then drive and they say they dont have it.

So what Gamestop/EB is the worst here in Tampa Bay?
Lately its been the one on Tyrone.
but I second it for Park Mall one.

I haven't been in the one in Tyrone since, from what the old manager told me, she was quitting after Christmas.

If she really did quit, then yea I could see it going downhill since she was the only nice and competent employee in there.

But yea, I can see why you'd say the one on Tyrone, there is one guy who works in there that is a giant douche.

Hitting up Rhino Saturday if I have time, def want to get some games before they close Sunday. As for pawn shops, you'd be surprised on how legitimate the chains are with their items (EZ, Value, CA). As anyone who has read my posts know, I have made out extremely well at pawn shops (about 90% of the games I buy), especially on X360 games. Self space is always a concern so games can become cheap quick. Now Monkeyball, about that Video Game store...................:)
Well, it was the girl, and the guy who was there has been cool and has never cared. I'm pretty sure if you get the stick in the ass manager he's definitely going to care.
lets just hope he not there tomorrow might as well trade for crap until saturday

Well otherguy do you have $5000 or a boat load of games to start it with?
We would want it, no where any gamestops or eb games or rhinos lol wait there are no more rhinos!!

The other retarded gamestop store would be the RUSSIAN RUN bernie at westshore mall, I would never shop there when he was working.

If anyone is looking for SNES (cart only) Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, or Breath of Fire 2, Rich's Pawn in Port Richey/New Port Richey has them for $20 -$30 a pop. I didn't buy them as I own all of them Complete. The Pawn shop is on US 19. I also saw a Legend of Zelda (1) in box. I didn't open to see if it was complete. It was also $30. Its quite a trip , but worth a ride if anyone wants to check it out.

Roufuss, get them from buy.com and use the $10 off google checkout or buy some from Rhino before they close with your Rhino Credit, or anywhere online that has a discount.

Also if your using the wii points for virtual console, get yourself a AR for GC, a sd memory card adapter for GC and then download the emulators for the GC, voila free virtual console games.

In case anyone wants PS1, Dc or N64 games the ebgames at kash and karry aka sweet bay on north dale mabry before stadium, buy 1 get 1 free, they had mostly sports, but there were other games in there, out of my price range which was $3 or less LOL
They had lots of ps1 tetris games
Heads up to anyone I was at a flea market earlier today the one on hills and 22nd street the drive in theater, some guy was selling xbox and ps2 games for $3 a pop, mostly sports, but he had some other stuff as well, snes, n64 games for $1, Nes and nintendo imported systems. Gameboy and gameboy color games were $5 a pop as well.
Went there again today, same guy lowered all the sport games to $2 a peice, xbox, and ps2. Had a new section non sport games for ps2 and xbox at $5 a pop, and brand new ps2 and xbox games $15 or 2 for $25.

Said tommorrow he will have PSP and DS games for $20 or less, some brand new but mostly used ones with books and cases.

Also said all his Xbox 360 games would be $25 or less.

Went to visit rhino for the last time, shame it was only one of a few times I had ever went. The employees hate gamestop with a passion, one has put in his 2 week notice to protest the other guy said its all downhill, some lady was there from gamestop corporate to start the long night of switching stuff over to gamestop. I was told by one of the guys, that if I wanted old school stuff, I should check the dumpsters in the next few days, I dont recall any resturants that are in the same plaza if anyone is interested in dumpster diving.

Doubt you'll find anything interesting... one employee already told me that if they have a sale / throw it out / whatever he's got his eye on about half of the store. I laughed and he said "No, serious, I've been collecting out of this store for years and I'd love to add all this stuff to my collection".

Gamestop won't throw it away though, they'll transfer it somewhere and bulk sell it someplace.

Rhino is next to that hair and nail salon too... I wouldn't want to dumpster dive through that stuff =X
Crystal River in da Hizzie!!!

Hehe, bet you dont even know where that is ;)
Of course we do. That's where they put the nuke plant, to keep it from potentially endangering the rest of us. :applause:

So, do you ever get any decent deals up thataway? I'm guessing you don't have a lot of competition.

Well Rhino opens back up today, who is going to go check them out and see what they have screwed up or just gotten rid of or has clearanced?

I'm going up to the Citrus Park mall again today (turns out that both the EB & GS there have extra Guitar Hero controllers for $17.99). I might as well check out the new Funcoland (kinda thought that GS dropped that copyright along with Babbages and Software, Etc.).

Ill let you all know if i find any deals.

So they changed the Rhino to Funcoland?
Is that to trick people who do not like GameStop or EB games into thinking they are not the same stores?

I used to think so, but then most of the Software Etc & Babbages that used to be in Tampa changed their name to Gamestop/EB. Tampa sucks for diversity right now, its pretty much the GS Empire, Gamerush (which i'd hardly call a game store these days), and Interbay (nuff said, lol).

I miss the old days of Microplay, Microcenter, and even Blockbuster Games in the Tampa Mall (accross from Software Etc, which was a good store at the time). That whole opening a gamestore could be a good idea. As long as we pull some decent sales figures, its only a matter of time before we make some huge cash by a GS buyout ;-).

Now i'll definately declare armageddon when GS buys out Interbay.

How does Interbay even stay in business?? Does anyone even shop there?

My friend told me he went in there and the two employees just ignored him and kept playing PS2.

Were they playing PS2 because they STILL haven't gotten their "25 guaranteed PS3s" yet?!
Were they playing PS2 because they STILL haven't gotten their "25 guaranteed PS3s" yet?!

No clue... he saw us talking about it here a long time ago and mentioned how he went in months ago and forgot about it until we started talking about it. He said it was really dark inside, really small, and had a creepy atmosphere... nobody bothered to greet him, they just never looked up from their game.

I'm just curious how they stay in business for over 5 years since I've never heard anyone else even mention them.

Alright, my trip to Funco Land was pretty unfulfilling.

Their store locator through EB's site seems to be working (4+ on Winback, Nightmare, Ape Escape, etc). The store itself is a complete mess, they were still putting up stuff. They had about 10 people working. The new manager (i guess) said that right now it'll be B1G1F on all old stuff, but they said that once everything is organized, they'll start doing some "heavy price drops".

So yea, it does look like they'll be getting rid of the old school stuff and not take any more in. I didnt bother to stay too long, everyone was running around and the place was a complete mess so i just asked about the old system stuff and left.

Good luck with that... of the old Rhino employees that stayed, I know a good majority of them were VERY intersted in the old school stuff, and one guy even told me that he's got his on eye on about half of the store if the stuff does drop. Everything rare / valuable / good will be long gone before anyone on CAG even gets to it... I'm not getting my hopes up at all.

There's alot of good stuff but it'll all be gone I assumed :( I know one guy told me how he snagged anything that was rare and old school that came through the store.

Interbay still hasnt got there PS3 yet. My $100 is being disputed and Ill probably get it back unless I convert it to "credit" in the meantime. If Suntrust gives it back to me, theyll probably investigate the store the CSR said. I have recieved ZERO comunication from Interbay as I subbmitted my call records to Suntrust to show they havent bothered to call in 2 months. The owner was pretty cool when I was up there last month and apologized, however, now it is quite ridiculous. I am heavily considering filing a complaint with my hookup at the chamber of commerence, especially if I dont get some communication from the store this week. I can always skip the headache and convert it all to credit and buy some games from the store, it may be a shack, but there is some decent games to be found there among the crap.

I don't know what's crazier... the fact that they won't give it back, or the fact they DON'T have PS3's.

You think the guy would just go to Best Buy, buy one of 100's on the shelf, and just sell it to you for cost. Sure, he wouldn't make any money, but he'd have a (somewhat) happy customer.

I wouldn't convert it to credit because then you've basacially just given him a $100 loan.

Plus, just think, there has to be other people like you out there, but maybe not as vocal or maybe they don't know what do... if Suntrust were to open some kind of investigation they might be able to get quite a few people their money back.

If they havent contacted you, have you contacted them?

As you mentioned they been in business over 5 years, someone must be shopping there, doesnt make any sense of what your saying.

Why would he rip you off for $100 after 5 years of being in business? If he went and bought ps3 from best buy, then wouldnt he be out the $100 plus the system since the $100 preorder goes to the distributor? And of all the members on here, only Otherguy is having a problem with his preorder?

Nobody else shops there, Otherguy was the only one who put down a preorder there just to see if they would get it in... at the time the PS3 was the hard to find system on the block.

From what Berzerker says, it's 5 years of shady business, but I don't know about all that.

I'm saying, at this point, Interbay should just go buy a PS3 at Best Buy to sell to Otherguy to honor the terms of the contract, since they are very easy to find. Interbay probably had no "distrubutor" for the PS3 to begin with, I'd be willing to bet, and by not returning phone calls they are preparing to put themselves in a world of pain.

If other people did shop there, and did put $100 down, they probably ended up converting it to credit so it's less of a hassle, and Interbay wins. I applaud Otherguy for sticking up for himself and following this through.

It just doesnt make sense to me, thats all I have to say on the matter.

So I called Rhino today and they answered Gamestop, so did they change their signs to Funcoland or are they now a GameStop?

Blockbuster games in Tampa Bay mall was awesome, they always had lower prices then the gamestop or what ever they called themselves, but that was because it was all former rentals from their video stores.

Why hasnt blockbuster opened their game rushes in Tampa as of yet? Will we ever see them now, thanks to rhino being sold to gamestop?

Blockbuster hasn't opened a new Gamerush in a long long time.

They won't be opening anymore any time soon either.

Gamerush isn't part of what Blockbuster wants to achieve, so they aren't going to put any more money into it.

Rhino is a Gamestop, it's just using FuncoLand for whatever reason on the store locator.
