Tampa Bay Area CAGs...

leadfootedfool

CAGiversary!
How about a thread for those in the Tampa Bay area. Should save looking through massive amounts of threads when you want to pick up a quick game in the Tampa Bay area.

Deals I've found

Polarium 7.48 (10 or so copies left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and 275

Meteos 7.48 (piles, more than 15 left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and Ehrlich/Bearss
The thing I was excited the most about, Moviestop, altered their policies shortly after I got here to get rid of the #1 reason I went there, trading in all my old movies for super cheap Blu-Ray preorders :(
Yea, the whole $1.50 tiv minimum is BS. But i've been finding nice ways to rack up credit, such as the current B1G4F sale at Columbia House ($20-$25 cash -> $60 credit)

Welcome back, things have gotten more competitive since you been gone. You back to trying to rebuild your collection? Hope life is going well for you.
Welcome back, things have gotten more competitive since you been gone. You back to trying to rebuild your collection? Hope life is going well for you.
Nah, not at the moment, and if I did, to be honest, I'd just Ebay most of it to save time ;) I've got more than enough current generation games and imports to last me quite awhile, lol. The only thing I'm really back to "collecting" is shmups and fighters, but those were the games I never sold, so it's just adding onto what I've got.

I might hit the odd clearance when there is something that really, really piques my interest, like that Odin Sphere, but otherwise I don't even really bother anymore.

It's good to see everyone though! See, lots of people do remember me :p

Hey all, I also need a favor.

Does anyone know some place in town that takes in old strategy guides for cash or anything? I have about 100 guides, most of them are worthless crap like Ultimate Spider-Man and MoH Airborne, ones that won't sell on Ebay for even 99 cents. Salvation Army or anything won't take them, because there is simply *too many*!! Any ideas? I'm just thinking of trashing them all, but I want to know if there is a book store or chain around here that would take them all in, even 25 cents per book would be ideal.
Yo Roufuss. Do you have a list of those guides? I may be interested in buying them off you.
I stealth edited this post, because I lied when I wrote it ;)

There are a ton of interesting guides, and I pm'ed you, let's work out a deal :)

Don't mean to double post, but I assume most of the good games at the local Sears (mostly the one at Tyrone Mall, don't have the patience to go anywhere else haha) that dropped at the end of March are long gone by now? Doubt Kameo sat long for $3, haha. Does Sears Essentials even have games at clearance prices?

We didn't have Sears in Long Island at all when I was there... well, we had one, I think, but it had no video game section at all!

The good games are long gone. Sears Essentials does have the same prices, but they're usually cleaned out pretty quickly too.

Based on his posts in the Sears and GameRush threads, Segasonic01 has been wiping out the Tampa locations for GR trade fodder. ;)

Only in Tampa & Brandon. I never go to St. Pete. But ya, I either traded the games to BB or sold them on here for like $6 + shipping. I assumed that since the games were there for 6+ months, anybody else who wanted them should've got them. The only games I never found that I wanted were Ace Combat X, MGS:pO & Starfox Command.

I'm not criticizing - I've been hitting the Pinellas Kmarts for GR trade fodder for a long time now, after all. :D

Lyric, I lied, I forgot that I had a whole tote of guides that are full of unique and interesting guides that have been pennied out over the years! Some RPG guides, some regular guides, lots of interesting stuff... I sent you a PM about it , just wanted to let you know here too.

To everyone else: I'll give Lyric first dibs, but if he doesn't want any of these, I'll offer them to whoever else wants them next.
Me me I wanna know what RPG guides you have.
I sent him a PM, so I'll wait until he writes back, and then whatever he wants / doesn't want I'll offer it to anyone on here. I just don't want to have to ship these or anything, because I'm sick of packing up guides.

There is surpringsly a good amount of RPG guides still left even after I grabbed 12 more out of this stack to put up on Ebay, simply because I had 12 leftover boxes.

Like I wrote to lyric, since the guides are decidingly of good quality, I'd rather sell them, but I'm going to let whoever wants them just throw out a fair price, I'm not going to be picky at all. Hell, even $1 a guide works for me.

I forgot I had a tote full of decent guides, which was my problem =X

hey guys, I'm going to be moving into the Tampa area come fall for grad school at USF. (BTW any students, how's the campus?) getting my Bachelors from University of Kansas =)

I just wanted to know what are the major video game areas here as well as the local game stores, so I have an idea what I can shop. Is there a gamecrazy, fry's, gamerush, meyers, any of that b/c I had none in my city so it'd be cool to be available to more VG stores.. also missing any major retailers? Thanks!!

There is no real local game stores here... I think there is a Play N Trade on Dale Mabry now, though I haven't been.

No Gamecrazy (but we had one in NY... it really sucked, you're not missing much), no Meyers, only a Gamerush... but tons of Best Buy's, Circuit City's, EB's, Gamestop's. I never had a problem finding a deal here because there is a lot of stores to choose from.

I liked the campus at USF a lot, I plan on going back there in the Fall.

I got bothmy bachelor's at USF and I am still fairly active in my fraternity on campus. The school is a school in transition, learning to become a big time school after having a small school mentality. There will be a new student union on campus next year and the campus is growing. As far as game stores, there isn't any mom and pop stores around currently, however, Play N Trades are popping up like crazy and there are deals to be had if your willing to hunt.

Roufuss, please PM that list of guides, I'd like to take a look. And are you going to USF Tampa or St. Pete?

Probably Tampa, I already got my Assoicates before I left so I'll probably go to the big campus.

After Lyric picks what he wants (which is fair, he was the one who spoke up first, sorry :( ), I'll definitely put the rest of the list around. Promise!

Just wanted to let everyone know, that the Cash America on 34st S and um... some avenue (it's next to the K-Mart and the Wal-Mart, I don't know what Ave unfortunately, just how to get there lol) has a PSP for $100.

It *looks* like a PSP Slim, it says it's PSP 2001, not sure if it gets comes with a mem card but it has the charger, and the screen looks like it's in really good shape. $99.99 isn't a bad price at all.

I got a Gears of War for 360 there for $20! It was complete and in surpringsly excellent condition.

That pawn shop always produces for me. Among other things, I've gotten two complete black-label FFVIIs there. My latest haul was a bunch of Gamecube games for $7.50 each, including Mario Party 5, 6 & 7, and one of those huge Blaze Twin Shock Playstation joysticks for $5.99. :D

Haha, yea, I always like going in there. It's too far out of my way to go to all the time, but the financee and I were in the area because she needed fabrics at Wal-Mart, I told her "Let's stop in, there is always a deal here somewhere!".

Shocked to see it, they actually had it on display in the glass case, facing out, clearly labeled $19.99... I'm really surprised someone didn't snatch it up.

Other than the PSP, there was nothing else good in there, imo. Lots of first gen 360 games for $20 like DoA 4, GRAW 1, and some sports games.

It's also one of the only pawn shops I've found that doesn't overcharge for everything... the one on 34th and 9th overchages for almost everything in there, last time I went in they wanted $15 - $20 for every PS2 game, regardless of the actual game. $35 for each next gen game, regardless of the game, or regardless of the fact Gamestop had them $10 cheaper.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know, anyone in the Tampa Bay/Largo/St. pete area...

That the second PnP Lan is coming up on saturday. $15 entry for the entire day, with some prizes for tourneys during the day. Was fun last month, hopefully we can get more people to turn out this month.

There will be PC gaming, and last month we had 2 tv's brought in (one older tube TV, one 40in+ 1080p olevia lcd) and 2 ps3's and a 360. FPS' and Racing games make up the majority of stuff played, but might get some RTS action going if there's a call for it.

Check out www.pnplan.com and you can PM me if you have any questions :)

That gets me thinking -

After meeting Lyric706 today (who was definitely a nice and chill guy, thanks again for your purchase!), we should have a Tampa Bay CAG get together. I've known a lot of you people through here for a long time now, and even met some of you (like Otherguy, who is also a very nice and chill guy).

It doesn't have to be anything special, meet somewhere, play some games, that kind of thing? I would host but I don't think I have enough room, on top of that it's not my house, haha.

Maybe it's a dumb idea and no one wants to do it, but I think it would be pretty awesome, finally put some faces to the names I've seen on here for so long. We've all helped each other out so much over the years, it might be a cool idea to consider (espicially since I'd like some more gaming friends since I've come back to the area lol).

I think it's a good idea. I would be in. The only other person I have met on here is also Otherguy. I am good "friends" with ninjaridebikes to but I don't think he would come. I would offer to have us all meet up & play games at my house but being that I haven't met most of you, I would be too worried (no offense at all to anyone intended, but you know how it is). Maybe we could meet up somewhere, and then every once in a while just alternate who's place/where we meet up at.

I've been suggesting this for awhile, I'm jetting town in May for a bit, so I would like to see this happen before I leave. I have a dusty Neo Cab in my garage that I would love to get some competition (after I fix the joysticks). I'v met a few of you, and have a few friends in the area who don't post anymore. Lets see who is down with the idea of meeting up and go from there.

Neo Cab?

Totally down ;)

Did you get my PM I sent you yesterday? Answer me back :p

Where you going in May? I get back, and now you decide to take off!

I would be up for it, but i still get the feeling that Brian David may have it out for us, seeing as me and you "ruined his great reputation". Who knows if he is still lurking around here, that is if he hasnt already gotten himself put in prison for sexually assulting any more 11 year old girls while selling at his huge new 12 foot by 12 foot store at the Oldsmar Flea Market.

So did Best Buy ever follow through with their lawsuit against you for shoplifting? I'm still waiting for Sony to serve me my papers for 'promoting PSP hacking'

rofl!

I forgot all about that. He was the Interbay guy right?

I posted a link to the Interbay website a few posts ago, and it's now "Super Monkey Ball video games"? Was that the same Super Monkey Ball that used to post here? It's all very confusing, shed some light on it for me. Did he get banned, I don't even see him in the member list anymore? Looks like his name was Monkeyballer and he got banned... why?

The TRU on Fowler closed??

What else did I miss =O

And if we did do a get together, I would like to keep it just to the people in this thread who are active posters that we actually know to be good people.. I wouldn't want a whole bunch of lurkers who never post or anything, just out of safety (or unless someone could vouch for them).

If a get together doesn't work, maybe we can all get together for some Live gaming? I think most of us have 360's at this point.

Lots of clearance items at the Target on Tyrone and Park in Saint Petersburg, FL:

NHL 2k8 (lots of copies) - $12.48
College Hoops 2k8 (lots) - $12.48
PGR 4 - $14.98 (3 copies)
GRAW 1 - $14.98 (lots)

PS3:

Simpsons Game - $31 (lots of copies)
Random sports and Tony Hawk, didn't get the prices

PC:

Rainbow Six Vegas - $13.98
Neverwinter Nights 2- $20.98
NWN 2 Expansion - $13.98
Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts - $20.98
Lots of random PC games for $20.98
Guitar Hero 3 - Not sure on price, two copies left

Is that where the Interbay guy is? He still owes me $100. I forgot that I had some dirt on him, when his landlord was cleaning out Interbay, he gave me access to whatever was there. As I was walking around in the store, the landlord walked out with a trash can. He tells me to looking it. I did out of curiosity and there was a sex book with an open condom on top. I kid you not. His landlord started telling me about all the shady business he was doing and directed me to the Hillsborough county Police Department to file a complaint. I think I was in his store a few weeks back and didn't even realize it. Thanks for the heads up. I am going to pursue this.

Is that from the PS3 preorders?

Otherguy, if you go to http://www.interbayelectronics.com/, it talks about being part of some Super Monkey Ball chain of stores, and it even lists where the new store is going to be?

Does this help any?

IF we're going to keep it strictly to active posters on here, I would have the meetup at my house as long as someone would help me buy food or something for us to eat and bring some games. Oh, and I am in Tampa so you guys in the St. Pete, Brandon, Largo areas would have to come here...

Someone wanna make me a list of all the active posters on here?

It was a suggestion on my part, since you know people like me, or Berzerker, or Otherguy aren't going to do anything shady.

I only know these people from when I posted before I moved:

Myself
Segasonic01
Otherguy676
Lyric706
Elmyra
Berzerker
AngelicLulu

Might be a few other people I'm forgetting? And that's if any of them even want to show up. There was another guy who had a Ravens avatar, but I forget his name :(

I just figured if we keep it to people we have "known" on the forums for months and years, it creates more of an air of safety.

Ok so if it's cool with everyone and we all decide when/where, let me know. Like I said, my house is cool or we can always do it where you guys want to. I have a 56" TV and a 19" one so idk if that would work.

Edit: Do any of you have myspace? *holds up flame shield*

Ok,. I sent you a request. Just out of curiosity, you're the only girl on here, right?

Otherguy, this is a good opportunity for you to show me how to play 80's power hour. We can have a wasted SF tourney

Monkeyballer always made me wonder. He mentioned that the first time he met Brian they hit it off, and after that, anytime someone mentioned Brian, monkey was the first to suck his ass. I just hope he only did such an act metaphorically.

I'd be interested in a Tampa Bay CAG meet up, but I'm not sure if my schedule will allow. My wife and I will welcome our first baby in about a month, and between work and my band (www.myspace.com/thehumancondition if you're interested), I don't really have much time. Also, I'd offer to have it at my house, but it's in shambles getting the nursery ready, etc. Regardless, when it's set up, let me know the details, and if I can get there, I will. Be forewarned though: I seem to be much better at buying games on the cheap rather than playing them. I suck pretty bad — at everything! Thrill of the hunt, I guess. Which is why I bought 34 guides from Roufuss today. Do I need them? Heck no. But for a buck, I'd buy just about anything. ::sigh::

So I went to the 9th Street Sears Essentials, and it was cleaned out, as I thought.

No $3 Kameo or $6 Burnout Revenge for me! Oh well.

If anyone knows where I can get a cheap 12 month card (for Live), let me know =/

if we do this thing at my place, it would prolly have to be on a sunday. If it's in St. Pete, I probably wouldn't be able to make it. Oh, and Darryl, did you get my PM?

Otherguy - It's quicker for me to just post it here than PM you, but I called every Cash America in Saint Pete, and none of them buy the guidebooks.

Which is crazy to me, because I've seen guides for sale at every single location. Maybe they just don't want anymore? I don't know. Hell, even 50 cents per book would have been ideal.

It's time like this I really miss Rhino who would give $1 per guide :(

12 month live cards can be had from Dell.com

Wii point cards with plastic controller sleeves are $20 at wally world.

classic controller and same strange controller sleeeve $20.

Really want one of those lunchboxes with mario on it!!!

Try to unload the guide books at any of the wanna be Gamestop empire of Play N Trade!

Just wanted to let everyone know, I went and picked this up myself. It was only $100 because they said it had no charger, but it had a USB cable / charger that works just like a regular charger. It also came with a car charger. The system is in EXCELLENT shape.

As a huge bonus, when I got home, noticed it had a 2 GB memory card in it, that the pawn shop people must not have noticed.

All that for only $100, what an awesome deal. They sold it at a loss when there was nothing wrong with it at all.
Orange Box PS3 is down to $30 at Target in Clearwater. Picked one up.
Hey, I sent you a PM, I might know someone who maybe is willing to take your extra guides you told me you wanted to get rid of.

Went to a bunch of Blockbusters today to trade in some stuff. I told them that there was a commotion at the Gamestop I had just come from because someone stole a bunch of copies of Sega Superstars Tennis for 360, Wii & PS3.

Have fun, Segasonic, lol.
