I'm pretty sure all the Sony 2-packs of Blu-ray Disc movies are the two movies in their own regular standard blue case and a thin slipcase holding them together, so far I've bought two, Groundhog Day/So I Married An Axe Murderer and La Femme Nikita/Run Lola Run and both were packaged like that, so unless Sony reprinted them in different packaging or the Gattaca/The Fifth Element one came out at a different time then the ones I bought (which I doubt) you should be good to go on buying it.

I can confirm that the Gattaca/The Fifth Element double pack comes with two separate cases. I own it, and I saw this package in all my local Best Buy stores this past week.

I was hoping for an awesome deal on Sucker Punch. Oh well...I'll still pick it up regardless and not wait on a price drop. I wanted to see it really bad but a coworker who was deployed told me to wait till he got back.
Sure enough, he got back the week it dropped from theaters.
 
Looks like the 1-disc for Sucker Punch is the theatrical version only and the 3-disc combo BD/DVD/DC one is the extended release and the theatrical release together on separate discs.

Maybe that extra 18 mins will help flesh it out a bit. I heard it was lacking in some areas that should have been fleshed out a little
