Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

My Target in Norcross, GA still has a few copies of Lumines for 19.98$ - I nabbed the last copy of FTM for 4.98$. They had several copies of F-Zero GP legend for 9.98$ as well.
I got Lumines for $9.98, Sprung and Feel the Magic were $4.98. I took them over to Wal Mart, returned them and bought Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, Beavis & Butthead Volume 1, and some groceries...Oh yeah they gave me $2 back.
Congratulations, scumbag. Perhaps you'll try robbing a bank next? :D

Not cool, your parents must be proud.
My Target had Donkey Konga 2 ($8.74) and Jungle Beat ($9.98), both without bongos. Picked up both. :D
Damn, I've been waiting for a cheap price for Jungle Beat but my Targets haven't had it in months. Will have to see today if they finally dropped Feel the Magic from the $9.98 it was sitting at for 2+ weeks. Then I can return my expensive TRU copy ($10). Ah, the life of a cheap-ass...

Ridge Racer, World Soccer PSP: $9.98

Lemony Snicket GC: $4.98
Fzero GBA: $7.48

I think only the DS games, World Soccer, and FZero are left.
My Target had Donkey Konga 2 ($8.74) and Jungle Beat ($9.98), both without bongos. Picked up both. :D
Chickenhawk did they have another copy of Donkey Konga 2? I would gladly reimburse you if you could pick up another one. Mine has Jungle Beat but I already have it.

Anderson and Greenville, SC Targets

I got (All PSP)

Wayne Gretsky $7.98 x 4
Tiger Woods $7.98 x 1
Soccer World Tour $9.98 x 1
Darkstalkers $7.98 x 1
Ridge Racer $9.98 x 1
Dynasty Warriors $7.98 x 1

They had MG Acid at one Target but it was full price, not even clearanced.

There's nothing left but more Soccers, and Gamerushes around here WILL NOT take them back, although Game Crazy gives $15 for it.

Game Rush Trade in on these games

Gretsky - $12.50
Tiger Woods - $14.00
Darkstalkers - $14.00
Ridge Racer - $18.00
Dynasty Warriors- $27.00!!! (What a profit)

Ah, excellent, thanks - I was wondering the trade-in values myself. What is up with GR not taking the Soccer game? They pretty much take everything, and it's not like they'd have been flooded with that particular title...

I don't know. I had already bought it at Target and removed the shrinkwrap and "aged" the product to trade in so I was a little panicked when I was told at two different stores that "we can't take this one back". I've never had that happen at GR before.

Fortunately Gamecrazy came to my rescue.

Yeah, they did have 1 or 2 more copies. I will check when I go back out that way. That might not be until Saturday though. Shoot me a PM to remind me to check for it. In retrospect, I should have picked up the other DK 2s cause I should have known some CAGs would want 'em.

Sometimes they have bad UPC data in their system and it shows as $0.00 for a trade value - if they look it up by name it might be different. This happened with a copy of SOCOM I traded in from the headset bundle I got at CC. It got refused about 3 times, then finally at a regular BB, a more knowledgable employee said, "Oh, I have to look this up" and gave me my $3 credit :D. It *could* just be a flaky thing like that. You might try calling one up and asking about it by name - if they give you a value from that, then when you bring it in just ask them to look it up again. But it looks like you got rid of it already anyway. Well, if there are more to get (no seems to want them at my Target, that's for sure) you could try calling GR first.

I got the last "Feel the Magic XX/XY" for a friend at the Gateway Target in St. Pete, FL for $4.98. The only other clearance game I saw left was two "Half-Life 2"s for PC for $13.98.

"Ridge Racer" PSP FINALLY dropped from $27.XX last week to $9.98 this week (no pirce drops in-between as I checked regularly), but of course every last one was now gone (used the UPC scanner to see the price). Grrrr!!!! If anyone has an extra one to trade, check my list.

I also got "Gunstar Super Heroes" for $19.99 and they had at least six more left, clearly marked in the case.

yeah, I just picked it up last night for $4.98 & had a good time playing it for a few hours...much more fun than I thought it was gonna be...but then again, I didn't spend $29.99 on it, too.
I don't understand the Sprung-bashing! I picked it up last Wednesday for $4.97, and sunk a good three hours into it that night. For the price, I'm completely satisfied (but then again, I'm oddly fascinated with dating sims...). I think it's an underrated title.
"Somebody actually stole a Sprung cart out of its box at my store. C'mon its only $4.98. How pathetic do you have to be?"

Stealing a game in general is pathetic. But stealing Sprung of all games? Good lord... that's reaching a level of pathetic only achieved by Justin Timberlake & Janet Jackson.

Target in Burbank didn't appear to have any clearance section nor any clearance items on the shelves. I'll check North Hollywood today.

I found a few copies on an end cap in stationary at an OH Target yesterday. They don't have much clearance right now so you may have to hunt in other departments.

You have to look on every end cap. Usually Target will have a clearance end cap on each aisle that is mostly end caps if you know what I mean. There are usually 4 to 5 clearance end caps at my store. I have found clearance games on an endcap no where near the electronics dept.

I see that all the time at Target with the games out of the glass case where anyone can get to them. Usually I see GBA game boxes where the shrinkwrap is ripped at the top. I sometimes see console games with the ripped shrinkwrap as well, so I try to avoid those cases and boxes.

Checked the NoHo Target last night - nothing I could find.

If someone manages to snag an extra copy of DK: Jungle Beat, I'd gladly buy it off them.

Gretzky NHL [PSP]...$7.84
Mercury [PSP]...$7.84
Feel the Magic: XY/XX [DS]...$4.98
Donkey Konga 2 [GCN]...$8.98

I'd trade DK2 for a PSP game: RR, Lumines, or Darkstalkers.

I found some clearance games in stationary, it looks like this is where they are putting them after going to the 2 game aisle cases.

I also hid a game in a white binder (i wonder if that game is still there!), very convienient to put the games near stationary where they can eaisly be hidden!

Yeah I really had to look around for the endcap in one target store. They are there, just not always in the same dept.

Its funny how those clearance games were all there after black friday, just because they were in a different section (no one knew they were there), when all the 9.99 and 19.99 games were cleaned out of the regular video game section!

They did have some games at the store, but it was just PC games:
Tiger Woods
Everquest 2
CSI
and buncha budget games at the endcap by the toys.

if anyone sees a brothers in arms or chaos theory drop (both PC) in the Triangle would they drop me a PM?

I know BiA is on clearance at the one near TTC but last time I was there it was still 21 bucks (want to play 7.50 ideally)

I saw Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers for Gamecube at my Target for $3.98. I didnt really want it but at that price, why not get it. Havent played it yet.

my target doesn't have a clearance section anymore since the renovated the electronics department. All of the PSP games are still behind the glass with full prices. I'll should probably print out the UPC barcodes and scan them to really see what they costs.

Can anyone give me some tips on finding the clearance section? I have gone to three Targets and scanned a few PSP games but they were all full price! I got a little frusterated because it sucks seeing everyone get really awesome deals and I can't find squat >.

Agreed, I haven't seen any PSP games on clearance since a few days before Black Friday. After Black Friday, it seems like people were looking for deals and all the clearance games sold even if the prices weren't even that good. There was a stack of NBA Street 1 for PS2 at $10.48 (not that great considering it was possible to get V3 at KB for $10 last month and V2 can be had for around $10 as well) at a Target I went to and after Black Friday, they were all gone along with all the other games.

Normally I like to wait for 75% off on games, but with the PSP games when they hit 50%, I figured I had better get what I wanted (Mercury) since I thought they had no chance at lasting to 75% especially since they were tagged correctly.

Alright well that makes me feel somewhat better considering that the reason I can't get a game is simply because they are not there.

By the way F-Zero GP Legends is on sale at the Target in Mission Valley Shopping Center (San Diego, CA) if anyone is interested. I can pick up a few copies for trading purposes.

Around here all of the PSP games pretty much disappeared by the time Black Friday rolled around, but all of the good ones were gone a week before. I guess some people couldn't pass up Darkstalkers for $14 (I was hoping for closer to $7).

As for GBA and DS games...same thing, really. Since Black Friday the huge pile of reduced Sprungs went from 19 to around 4 copies. It probably helped that they were since marked down to $5. F-Zero is still around for some reason or another, probably because of the stigma that it's associated with Fox Box or something. I'd pick up a copy myself but I'd prefer grabbing it after one more drop.

Thankfully, some kind soul hid a copy of Donkey Konga 2 in with the $19.99 games. I was going to leave it behind but, since it was the last copy, I decided to scan it since it was going for $18 last week. Whoops, repriced down to a little over $8! For that price I wasn't just about to toss it back on a shelf!

Quality...

Wouldn't mind a copy myself. Please CML if it interests you. Otherwise if you are nice enough to sell at cost + shipping + a little extra, that would be keen also.

Grabbed the second to last Feel the Magic and last Sprung for 4.98 each at the 9th Street Target down here... friend got the other FTM, so they are gooone.

They weren't with the other cheap games, but rather in a seperate clearance section.

Hmm... I'm having no luck looking up UPCs today... tried a few GBA and some PSP games, everything returned all zeroes. Tried all three sites in the OP, is there anything else that might be more up to date?

Sweet! I picked up a copy of Sprung for 4.98, and F-Zero for 7.48 tonight. I also found a pair of Champion shoes that are knock-offs of the standard New Balance shoe for $3.28. The only pair left AND my size...not that they are great shoes are anything, but good garage/yard work shoes. Thanks for the tips!

I went to Best Buy right afterwards and looked at the games...F-Zero=29.99 and Sprung= 19.99. Sweet! If you go to Best Buy pick up an xbox 360 dvd sampler and make use of the 10 dollars off any game purchase (29.99 and over). That's going to come in handy for Animal Crossing on Tuesday.
