Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Bastards moved the clearance endcap to over by the CD players. WTF? Anyway.

Mine had Pariah on PC recently clearanced, it's at $19.99.. they also had SWAT 4 on clearance, but it was $24.99.. time to wait for both to drop, if I can get SWAT 4 under $10, that'd be sweet.
new to this forum, so pardon the poor question. This particular thread about Target caught my attention, so I stopped by one ther other day with no luck. I just wanted to make sure I'm looking in the right place. A couple aisles over from the video games was an end cap against the wall with a clearance sign on it, filled with some random toys and only one video game. (I think I was Driver 3, not sure) Well I scanned the game for the heck of it, and it came up $19.99. So the lack of any games to begin with, and the fact that the only one there scanned up at 20 bucks made me question if I was looking in the right place..

Any help?
Sounds like the right place. Just keep checking back every so often. Sometimes you will hit the jackpot and find good titles for cheap, other times crappy or no games. I check like twice a week in my Target for clearance.

Found Feel The Magic at the Target in Beaverton, Oregon. The game was in the case and I had to get an employee to get it out for me. Also found DDR Mario Mix, although not in clearence, I definitely purchased it.

Went to another Target and found Ridge Racer, FTM, Darkstalkers, and Lumines. Took out my handy list of UPCs and scanned them. All showed as "item not found." FTM had a red tag at 9.98. Knowing the employee would resort to that price, I decided to pass and check on Lumines and RR. They were in the case so I was hoping there was no red tag (couldn't tell). The guy takes them out - no tags. Had him ring them up and they show as not found (as I suspected). He then tells me that they showed as being clearanced out so "I could give it to you for really any price." He settled on 4.98. I guess I could have stretched and gone for a lower price, but I decided that was good enough for me.

Those two are on my TL now. I don't particularly care for them, but I know others were looking for them.

For reference, I passed on Darkstalkers, but when I go home for Christmas, I might stop at it again and see if I can finagle a few copies of that.
The Northdale target in Tampa had 1 Feel the Magic for DS for only $2.49. I still passed up on it, lmfao.
whats this list of upc's I see mentioned every so often? And I thought clearance games were always on that endcap thing?

I have much to learn...

People like to make their own list of UPC's so they don't have to constantly ask the sales man/women for price checks. Check the first post for detailed instructions. Basically you go to half.com, search for the game, find the UPC number, go the a webstie and enter in the specific UPC for your game, and BAM they give you a picture of the same UPC that would show on your game. Makes using Target price scanners much much eaiser.

oddly enough Metal Gear Acid went from being 29.99 in the clearance section to 39.99. the guy working there refused to change the price, even though all the titles there were either clearanced out or 29.99 and under. :(

i was wondering if anyone could help me out and grab me 1 copy of lumines and 1 copy of darkstalkers. i'll be glad to pay shipping, tax.

thx for the help i've gone to 3 targets the day of this sale and found 0.

Uhh this thread is for posting Target clearance deals, take this to the trading forum.

Target is selling NFS 2 Underground for $19.99 as listed in my previous post. I am now aware of the trading forum. Thank You.

Yeah, its a good thing you didn't push it because what they are supposed to do is look at the pricing history (using the hand scanners) and give you the last price it was available for. And that was probably $9.98. $4.98 for those games is a damn good deal.

I've been having trouble finding ANY clearanced games lately. I guess they got rid of everything right before x-mas. Should pick up in a few weeks, i presume

They've started advertising storewide clearances, but I would presume that will mostly be holiday merchandise (which is still great: chenille throw for $10!), but maybe one or two games will be clearanced just to keep us interested.

I didn't notice any games yesterday, but all Holiday and MOST toys are on clearance. The one I was at in Phoenix, AZ was 50% off Holiday and 30% off toys. I can't wait for the game clearances to start again :)
Hey everyone out there i just found the greatest website for trading in games. I traded in my tony hawk 3 (ps2) for 8 times what game stop would have given me. They except all used games and accessories and they dont even care if the game has the instruction book or orginal case! This site was made for games its soooo much better then gamestop or ebgames! Give it a try you will probly get atleast double what gamestop will give you for your used games and accessories! You send them one email with the games you want to trade and they give you alll the prices its crazy amazing!www.usedgamezone.com
yeah bull man, that site was created on dec. 24, 2005.

don't waste your time.

75% off Holiday started today in orange,ct.

Last time I went to Target the endcaps that had the clearance electronic items and games werent there anymore. Did they move them somewhere else in the store?

All of the endcaps are missing at the three Targets by me, too. It's been that way since Christmas. I hope they come back soon. :(
Got the last copies of Feel the Magic and SPRUNG (DS) for $2.24 each.
Holy S***, $2.24?! Is this just YMMV or nation wide?

Also can some nice CAG help me out with this thread, there is no list and i am a little bit confused on how it works...

If somone could just get me a heads up on some cheap DS games in this thread, that would be nice...

Totally YMMV . . . most Targets don't let things go down this far . . . I think mine pulled these games at $10 and sent them over to Goodwill . . . and I saw them there last week for $24.99 . . . no lie.

Plus, it's likely they would be bought when they hit $4.98.

But then there's often some lucky bastard who finds a year-old clearance gamen for $2 . . . not at my Targets!

LMAO!!! First off, the website is barely a week old. Second, the guy's user name is "UsedGameZone."

What a dumbass. I'm happy CAG doesn't f-around with spamers. Most message boards I go to try to convert them so they can be decent members. Ugh.

BTW, I just got back from Target and they still had Sprung for $5 give or take. Hasn't dropped down yet. Hell, I'm still not convinced you'll find $2.50 worth of entertainment out of it. Just avoid it if you're not a hardcore collector.
My target has been dry for the past month and a half. Hopefully, the new year will bring more clearance.
Same here

They got rid of the clearance section in the White Plains Target. They replaced it with more big ticket items. The electronic section was an absolute mess with games all mixed up in the cabinets.
75% off Holiday started today in orange,ct.
what is werid that most stores this year Waited a week to drop to 75%

usually target drops every 3-4 days.... I wonder when it or if it will fall to 90%
Holy S***, $2.24?! Is this just YMMV or nation wide?
This is very very YMMV. The games came up as not found and the cashier manually put in the price. Just like any retailer when checking out you got to find the right cashier. Sometimes you get fucked and others you score big.

weren't people finding donkey konga 2 w/bongos on clearance? I swear they were, I scanned one at a Target in Ann Arbor today and it rang up $49.99

Yeah, they were. None of the Targets in Lansing ever rang up for that price, either.

I want to say the price on those was only at brand new Targets. There were a handful of games/accessories that sold at 50% or greater at Targets that had just opened. I think Wavebirds were on the list as well, something I still need 2 of.

That's what I remember anyway.

it's not a game, but I saw the red Nintendo logo sweater at two different Target's for $17-18 I bought one of course. I think it's the same one they sold before Xmas for about $30 and Hot Topic sells for $50.

X-Men Legends 2 for PS2 is $24 until the end of this week. I believe it is nationwide. The Xbox version is $20 on Gamefly but the PS2 version isn't.

Now thats just a ridicolous price, but for under $20 its a steal. What other color sweaters did they have?

Well yeah, that's a sale, not a clearance.

Pariah is still $20 at mine and I think SWAT 4 is still sitting at $25.

I've only seen it in red at Target, but Kohls has it in blue if you can find one.

Syberia 2 (for the PC) was $4.88 at my local Target... i didnt pick it up because i dont know too much about it but i heard it got good reviews...

cool. I will keep an eye out at mine for this one. I got the first for 2.50 a few months back.
Dammit. My Target put a 9.98 price tag for Sprung and Feel The Magic. ;_;
Did you scan it through the scanner?

Those prices should be 2 - 4 dollars by now.

Yep. It didn't come up on the system, so the guy said that he couldn't do anything about it but offer it to me for the tag price.
