Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to www.schworak.com/upc/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

C&C Generals: Zero hour was 2.50 at the Timber Dr. Target in Garner

It is in the back of the electronics section on the opposite side of the area where the games are (if anyone wants it)

Perhaps this was detailed in the other thread, but I snagged a non-PH Burnout 3 for $15 even at the Target on N. Lewis Ave. in Waukegan. The same price has been seen in Kenosha, WI.

The Target in West Covina, CA had "Cabella Deer Hunt 2005 Season" (PS2) for $4.98. I got a copy and they had 2 left. That was the only red tagged clearance game I saw there.

Splinter Cell: PT (Xbox) 4.98
Battlefield Vietnam (PC) 4.98
Medal of honor Pacific Assault (7.48)

those were what I saw at the north hills Target in Raleigh. there is still a MoH left, as I snagged one of them instead of BF:V

I picked up the last Battlefield Vietnam from the Lauderhill SuperTarget today. $9.99.

I didn't see any on the shelves at the Target Greatland in Sawgrass, but I didn't know where the clearance stuff was, and didn't have time to look around forever.

San Jose, CA

Saw these at my local Target but didnt pick any of them up:

Outlaw Golf 2 (Xbox) - $9.99
The Sims Vacation Expansion (PC) - $2.48
A Target PS1 controller + memory card - $9.99

My Target used to be great but has gone to hell . . . the stock of games is really, really low . . . so as clearance occurs, there is nothing left.

I went to check Pandora . . . used a printout of the UPC and it scanned $13.98 and there were none in stock anyway!

Anyone get an extra Splinter Cell PT Xbox at $5 and want to trade?

I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but the Target in Roseville had Tony Hawk's Underground 2 on clearance for $4.98.

Not quite as good as Pirates, maybe, but definitely not a bad price for a decent game.

Fun Fact: My very first post on the site was in the deals forum. It was about how I'd found the PC version of Tony Hawk 2 on clearance at Target for $2.48. :)

Get on da Mic (with mic) (PS2) $9.98
TMNT 2 (PC) $9.98
Battlefield Vietnam $9.98

At the Target in Ann Arbor, MI

The Alhambra,ca has added Shrek 2:team action $7.48 among the other PC games I mention before that they still have.

Here's what stood out the Clackamas Promenade store when I was there last night around 9pm:

PC:
EA Games Collection (the one with 007 Nightfire and NFS Hot Pursuit 2, 1 copy left) - $9.98
GTA: Vice City (1 copy left) - $9.98
Simpsons Hit & Run (2 copies left) - $9.98

Xbox:
Enter The Matrix (PH, 1 copy left) - $13.xx

Digital Space, does the Clackamas Town Center still have an arcade?
I used to spend hours in there. Of course, that was fifteen years ago...
Sorry to crash the thread, just curious.

I'm disappointed in myself for passing up BF:V for 9.98 when I saw it. I passed on it because I figured most people would be playing BF:V Redux. Am I incorrect?

same game, just they included some stuff that can probably be downloaded off of their website

its like the Editor's choice edition of a game where they include all the stuff they put on the internet along with the latest patch

Unfortunately, it closed several years ago - it's a storage room now. The Wunderland that was down about 5 blocks or so on 82nd is gone too. So the mall and the area nearby is completely devoid of an arcade now.

I was in the Washington Square area today and decided to check the nearby Target around 5:00pm to see if they had anything. Here's what stood out:

PS2:
Hot Wheels Stunt Track Challenge (5 copies) - $13.98
Viewtiful Joe (2 copies) - $13.98
Vertical Stand (2) - $6.xx

PlayStation:
Mad Catz controller/memory card pack (red and blue, several copies of each) - $3.98 (note that these controllers do not have analog sticks)

Xbox:
SSX Tricky (PH, 1 copy) - $10.98

GBA:
Various Nicktoons GBA videos (spotted at least 3 copies, there may be more) - $9.98

PC:
EA Sports Collection (1 copy) - $4.98
Circus Tycoon (2 copies) - $4.98

I was on vacation last weekend and stopped at a Target. Nothing notable in the Harbor Target in Anahiem, CA. Except for clearance shoes for women!
PC: Paint Shop PRO Studio 12.48 (was 49.99) (comes with a $20 mail in rebate! :) )
Last year at Target I picked up Encarta 2004 DVD edition on clearance for about the same price . . . and MS did honor the $20 rebate on it . . . so I was paid to buy the software.

Frederick, MD Constantine (PS2) $9.99

I didn't know if it was worth it....there was something else for $9.99 but it has escaped my mind at the moment.

Ankeny, IA
SSX Tricky $7.50 PS2 and XBox
007 Agent Under Fire $7.50 PS2
Enter the Matrix Don't remember price

Viewtiful Joe for ps2 FINALLY dropped to 9.98... I picked up the last one since I was going to get it at the Circuit City clearance sale anyways.

There are two Targets that have opened up near me. However I can not find any clearanced items. you guys think it is because these places are new so have not the need to clear inventory yet?

More than likely.

There haven't been any new clearance items at Target for awhile, either, so that could very well be it.

I had been waiting for that one, but I jumped on it when EB had it for $9.99. Good game for $10.

Definately. I own it for the Cube, but I wanted to get it since so many reviews said playing as Dante was a complete blast.

Is Target officially out of clearance material for awhile?

Hasn't been a new clearance item worth talking about for awhile now.

I stopped by the Tanasbourne Target (Aloha/Hillsboro, OR) today around 6 pm. What I saw there is barely worth mentioning:

PlayStation MadCatz controller/memory card combo (several) - $3.98 (Note that these controllers do not have analog sticks)
GBA Cartoon Network video (1 copy) - $13.98

I dont understand how do I accomplish this? Do I just take a whole bunch of barcodes to the target store and check if the game is on clearnce? Isnt it hard to know which game is on clearance and were to find it in the store? Is there any easier way to just go in the store and find the clearence items?

Most of the time the clearance game will be out of the glass case, generally on the next isle over or on the endcaps (ends of aisles)... there have been times I have seen games in this section that others have mentioned being on clearance, but it would have no sticker.

Best bet is to gather up a few games that would interest you and head over to a price checker... Ive had them scan as clearance when they werent stickered, had them scan regular price when other stores mentioned here had them clearanced, AND had them scan lower than the stickered clearance price because someone didnt re-sticker it...

Think of it as a big treasure hunt... some places seem to have more clearance items than others, some seem to get lower pricing first... some people complain that their Targetrs never have anything good... hope this helps

I picked up Viewtiful Joe for $4.98. It was the last copy. I think last time I was there, I saw Onimusha 3 was on clearance too. Those were gone today.

3 questions. I took some UPCs to target. When it says 0.00 does that mean their out of stock? When it does say a price does it mean its in stock? I went to the target and rayman arena is 2.47 so is it in stock or what cause I never asked and I forgot to write the games next to the upcs?

For the most part price doesn't dictate wether it's in stock or not, but all clearance should have been taken out of the backroom as soon as it went clearance (I'm assuming that by "In Stock" you mean in the store as a whole and not only the backroom). So it's up to you to find out whether it's floating around the store or not. When it drops to $0.00 I'm pretty sure it becomes salvage and is sent out from the store, but sometimes you can still find it laying around. In that case only an employee with a Handheld Scanner can tell you the last price it was at. Hopefully that answers your question.

Also from the first post: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

I dont belive rayman was 2.47 but it was around that. It is in the 2s forsure.

Btw both of my targets dont seem to have a clearence section for games or anything but the greatest hits section (and everything has a price by the rack) were else do you suggest I look for the games.

Pokemon Think chip Ash 12 inch figure with pikachu, warturtle and jigglypuff $14.98
Pokemon Virtual Trainer Basic Figure Pack: Winona with Pichu & Dragonite $4.98
Pokemon Virtual Trainer Basic Figure Pack: Brawly with Alakazam & Charizaro $4.98
At Alhambra and Rosemead, ca

There are lulls. It looks like we've hit one.

Just give it a few more weeks. They've got to clear out merchandise eventually, right?

How come both of my nearby targets dont have clearnce sections? Its possible they do and I havent really noticed it well Ill check it out today.

The clearance sections are the aisle endcaps. Products should have orange stickers, and they may have big signs stating the percentage off. There is no guarantee that clearanced games will be near the rest of the games, some stores like to spread the clearance items around.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but does anybody have or can find a copy of the World of Warcraft CE in these Target clearance aisles that someone could part with?

My Targets have nothing. nada. zip. I'm talking only 6 copies of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the PC. I've been to 5 different stores in the area, and they all have crap. And this has been like this for a few months. Help!?

San Jose, CA

Had some kiddy PC games (something like Circus Tycoon) but I dont remember the price for them. Only thing that was worth noting were 2 official Nintendo Gamecube platnium controllers for $16.98 each. I might stop there in a couple of weeks to see how low it can go before someone tries to pick one up.

Picked up

Megaman X Command Mission PS2 $4.98
Medal of Honor Frontiline XBox Platinum Hits $4.98
Conflict Desert Storm II $7.48

this was at the sterling Hts. target

one in Garner near the 401/70 split had Wavebirds on clearance for 14 bucks. If they drop again, I am probably going to pick a few up

Both Megaman X Command Mission and Viewtiful Joe dropped to 4.98 today... went ahead and snatched both of them up.

I still have the receipt where I paid 9.96 for VJ, so I'm returning that tommorrow.
