Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

Picked up to PCMCIA Wireless Laptop cards for $15 each.

Girl scanned a different barcode on the second one and it came up $50. Showed her they were the same and she adjusted.

Was funny as there were cards for $15 in clearance, and cards for $50 on the shelf. Just mattered what barcode you hit when scanning.

I checked yesterday and it's still $12.48. It's still in the case and marked at $34 at my target. I'm also waiting on DOA: Ultimate and POP: Two thones to be marked down again.

but it was $9.98 last night, when i got back tonight they had new price stickers.

i think this would be a better alternative for those who will be purchasing VC games for the Wii.

I checked Odama again today at Target. I used the barcode I printed out and it didn't show up in the system. The last few visits it had showed $12.48. I asked a guy to check it and it showed $12.48. Is that a sign that they will likely be pulling them soon? I passed on it tonight, since it's not really worth $12 to me, maybe $6. They only reason I'd pick this up is that it might become harder to find later on. I'm not sure if I should pick that up or DOA:Ultimate for $7.48 or POP The Two Thrones for $9.

if it doesn't show up it means they missed pulling that item so next time they go through and scan it they'll pull it
 
I tried to pick up Odama for a friend, it was the last copy. One of the employees with the key got the game out of the case handed to another person who was working. The guy rings it up "must shocked at the price look" then asks me where it was then goes to behind the case and see's the 49.99 price. Then adjusts it to 49.99 instead of the cheap ass price? wtf? price should've been new as I noticed some CAG mentioned it was at this price in the sacramento area...this guy must be new...Anyways I didn't buy it at full price of course.
 
Picked up DOA: Ultimate yesterday. I'm still debating on picking up Odama. I don't have much funds right now, but the collector in me is telling me to get it. If I want to get it, I have to get it tonight. It's not in the system anymore at my target and I think they'll pull it tomorrow.

Darn it! King Kong (XBOX) is dissappeared from the computer system. Same as odama for GC. I should pickup early instead waiting too long! It's possible Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones for $9.98 for PS2 or just only for XBOX ??
 
it looks like it's for the xbox only.

my target has a lot of xbox games on clearance, including Prince of Persia, but there's not alot of good stuff right now.
 
Is Odama confirmed to work on a Wii? I don't have a GameCube but plan to get a Wii next year. If it works, I may pick it up while it's cheap.

Btw, if it's out of the system, can the electronics dept staff pull the last clearance price ($12.48) from their pricing gun?

That's what I did at my target. I passed on it still. As much as I want it, I don't know if I'd ever get around to playing it.
 
I don't know if this deserves its own thread but I though I would mention this here. Someone at Slickdeals mentioned that the Gamecube is onsale this week for $88. Since most places don't have in stock anymore you can get a raincheck for and a coupon for 12% off any game system will print out. There is speculation that you can use it on the Wii but it has not been confirmed yet.

Does the amount of clearance stuff drop off around the holidays? I've noticed a drop off at my local target. There's hardly any games on clearance there.

I don't know, but my Target's clearance section has recently been decimated. All they had left were a few copies of Dead or Alive Ultimate for $7.48.

Yeah I hit a couple Targets in my area of the last few days and one had a clearance section with only a few PC games in it and the other had no clearance section near electronics at all. I'm wondering if they don't clear those sections out at this time of year to make room for more profitable Xmas gift type stuff.
 
i still see a lot of titles from still from the previous clearance. nothing new for me.

it looks like the only thing worth looking would be those $16 games titles you see in the printed ads.
 
Picked up 2 copies of Odama for a little over $6. They were out of the system so no price came up at the register. I had the newest Jampack for the PS2 which is $1.99, so the cashier manually entered in $2.xx each. Now I will be trading them in at Rhino for Twilight Princess and Excite Truck.

Odama wasn't in the system. I had to have the guy use one of the hand scanners. He was going to stick with the $34 price. I think it was saved from being pulled since it was still marked at $34.98 with a white sticker and stuck in the case. I broke down and bought it since I figured it was only a matter of time before it was pulled. I really didn't need it though.
 
I scanned the Odama UPC today and it came up $6.48. I couldn't find any though, the employee was nice and helped me look around the clearance sections, but there were none. Maybe it was pulled before. I wish I had checked this thread sooner when it was first posted.

At my store they went from being in the case not marked as clearance just a few weeks ago or so, to being completely gone when I finally went in to price check one a few days later. :cry:. Oh well, maybe GR will drop it - of course, all the Nintendo games I preordered and paid full price for dropped like rocks (Fire Emblem, Chibi, Battalion Wars) but the one I PASS on (Odama) remains elusive at the sub-$20 price.

Recently at my Target I've seen some Xbox deals, but little else: DOA Ultimate for $7.48, Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks for $3.74, Warriors for $4.98. Oh, and I finally got a "hide the game" trick to work - Hid Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA) when it was $9.98, picked it up the other day for $4.98. Nearly every other time I've tried this it either dropped from the system or got found and put back out ;). The ones that drop out I just put back in the clearance section for someone else to grab - they'll still honor the clearance tag so someone will snag 'em at whatever (not quite cheap enough) price that was.
 
Depending on the store and the item, things don't always hit the 75% off mark. That's why I don't do what a lot of people here do and try to really, really wait on stuff that I know I'd be happy paying a slightly higher price for. If it gets close, I buy it. With Target clearance, you always run the risk of it being zeroed out before it hits the price you want, even though people here report it as being cheaper at their local Target store.

Which target do you Frequent, Io?

I usually hit up the Fairview, OR, and the Mall 205 and 122nd Targets in Portland. Last time I checked though, they were all three out of Odama.

This one is as low as it's going, and since most Target's in my area went from 5 copies to 0 really quick, I decided to snag this one. More new clearance drops, all PC:

Diablo 2 - $13.98
Diablo 2 Expansion - $13.98
Quake 4 - $13.98
Condemned - $14.98
