Tatsunoko Vs Capcom to NA confirmed?!

I'm not being a fanboy.By any means, I own all three consoles since certain games are exclusive. I'm just stating the facts and the jamma board that it's built off of wasn't designed to be ported over to the system. People seem to miss this and therefore my logic is thinking that capcom won't do it.

I understand it would be better on the ps 3/360 but i think capcom wouldn't add 1080i/p graphics it would be like MvC 2 where it's just upscaled and be smoothed out which to me would be a bit of a letdown. Because honestly MvC 2 demo was nice but I have a feeling TvC would have the same fate graphics wise. I might be wrong.

Tatsunko vs. Capcom is a very neat game but has some damn obscure charcters even the capcom side has the lead character from the fourth omniusha game and Saki Omokane, even batsu from rival schools is sightly obscured since not many people i knew owned that game expect for me.
I mean even if it's still ported to the 360 or PS 3 it would still be obsecure to mainstream gamers and I believe possibly sell poorly.

This is off topic but I beileve that Capcom is possibly trying to make a MvC 3 by massing funds from MvC 2 and TvC to show the higher ups that it's possible to make a multi-million dollar plus VS. game again and maybe have marvel on board too. Which it already appears that way.

Overall I don't see Capcom taking the effort to port it over. Sales is a question,Relevancy,Capcom has other games to work on etc. I would laugh though seeing a wii game ported upward to the PS 3/360. It would be like having a 35mm film blown up on an IMAX screen.

Did you laugh at Bionic Commando Rearmed? After all, that used to be an NES game. Or how about Super Street Fighter 2 HD? According to your logic, porting games to more powerful systems results in little to no benefit. You're ignoring the fact that they can add as many improvements as they want. If they improve nothing, it's the same great game on a console with better online features and display. If they take advantage of the hardware, an already good game ends up looking and sounding better.
If Tatsunoko took some kind of special advantage of the Wii hardware, you might have a point. But it doesn't; it's just a 3D arcade game developed on the weakest console hardware available. It can only go up, not down.

I didn't laugh at BC:Rearmed. I was impressed. But then again it took a lot of persuasion of the higher ups(Capcom Japan execs) to get the remake going.

My logic is more along the lines that Capcom won't go up with this game. It's about money and time. I think they will make other games that and that localizing to North American audiences for the wii is as far as it's going to go.

I'm all for it being on PS 3/360. I just don't see Capcom throwing more money into it. It's possible that the wii version could just be the testing the waters to see if it's even worth spending money and time porting over to the other two consoles. I clearly understand it's not hard to go up, but my question does Capcom feel the need to port it up???

But besides graphics and language barrier I thought the game played great and even before I had a hori arcade stick it preformed wonderfully. That's why to me graphics don't matter a whole since the game played well.

We all should be having a party since at least the game is coming over here. Capcom as a company as least for the most part localizes thier games ala the phoneix wright series and this game to satisfy American fans. Whereas, something like the mother series may never see American shores.

SAN MATEO, CA — June 2, 2009 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is coming to North America for the Wii™ home video game system. Capcom’s popular and critically acclaimed ‘VS’ fighting series is getting an all new next-generation introduction. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom pits Capcom’s iconic characters against Tatsunoko Productions anime superheroes. This clash of heroes face off in two-on-two battles for the ultimate 2D tag-team battle.

Originally released in Japanese arcades in the Fall of 2008, the original Tatsunoko vs. Capcom moved to the Wii console on December 11, 2008. This extraordinary fighter will blend these two rich universes by taking Capcom characters like Ryu from Street Fighter, Morrigan from Darkstalkers and the giant PTX-40A from Lost Planet and putting them against Tatsunoko fan-favorite characters from Gatchaman, Hurricane Polymar, Casshern and more. It’s a battler oyale that delivers match-ups that only exist in fans wildest dreams!

Unlike the more well-known six-button layout that the Street Fighter franchise pioneered, the VS line features a simplified four button system: “Weak”, “Medium”, “Strong” and “Assist” for the tag-team option of. The “Assist” feature adds another compelling element found Capcom’s other “VS” series: allowing players to switch their character on the fly or call for help from their tag-team partner, allowing for spectacular super moves (“Hyper Variable Combination”). Successful execution of the Assist feature can turn the tide of battle on a dime. Historically the VS series excels in integrating the tag-team options by including customized moves like Variable Assist, Snapback, and the previously mentioned Hyper Variable combination that lets both characters on one team perform their Hyper attack.

TvC enhances the above gameplay with new mechanics, including the Variable Aerial Rave that allows characters to be switched in the middle of an Aerial rave. More moves include the offensive Assault and defensive maneuver Mega Crash. Another new gameplay mechanic, titled Baroque, illuminates the character in a rainbow of colors, cancels the current attack and extends combos and damage.

Featuring a robust line-up of characters, the console version added four mini-games and optional control schemes

This “newer” version of TvC, currently dubbed Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, removes one character due to licensing issues, and adds five new ones, online gameplay, more mini-games and an enhanced story mode.

Features:

• 26 fan-favorite characters from the Tatsunoko and Capcom universes face-off in this stylish 2D fighter

• Tag-team battles and customized two-character fighting techniques produce a wild, dazzling spectacle

• Wi-Fi Online gameplay allows worldwide matches

• Four battle modes include Friend, Rival, Free and Ranked Battles

• Match-ups are not restricted to just “Friends”

• Earn Points and Titles (for Title Creation) for all to see

• All-new VS gameplay mechanics creates a new way for fans to return to the series

• More than 20 Mini-game provide additional multiplayer fun

• Enhanced control schemes offer a simplified control scheme option and allow use of the Classic Controller and Gamecube Controller

• Wii-exclusive

1 character removed & 5 new ones & online play. can't wait for this

Hmm with online play I guess I will be picking up the NA version. But they really need to fix the looping combos in this game. Its fun for a bit, but oh so broken.
Available for pre-order on amazon and Gamestop
Amazon gives no date, and gamestop gives jan 2010. I hope to god it is way before then.... If not I think I'll import it. The trailer said coming soon. Soon to me sure isn't Jan 2010. I know gamestop is usually wrong with the release date, and I doubt one has been announced.

The wait seems rough, but if they manage to include online play then it will be worth it.

Just saw a thread on NeoGAF about Tatsunoko Vs Capcom being released in

I'm not going to read 3 pages of this but was this only out for the Wii other then in the arcade? Also can this be played on an American Wii with out moding it? I might bite on this and make it my first import if so. Also one last thing does the Wii have an arcade stick that will work on the American Wii.

Correct, only for the Wii and in arcades (do those exist anymore? :p)

Also can this be played on an American Wii with out moding it?

Not to my knowledge.

I might bite on this and make it my first import if so.

Just wait until next year for the local release.

Also one last thing does the Wii have an arcade stick that will work on the American Wii.

Hori makes one. link

Fry's, when they have it in stock, carries it cheap.

As mumu over at Shoryuken pointed out, the rest of the new characters have been leaked, in the source code on TvC's official Japanese site no less.

All 5 new characters*:
Tekkaman Blade (Confirmed, along with the addition of online play, in Famitsu)
Yatterman No. 2
Condor Joe
Zero (Mega Man X/Zero series)
Frank West (Dead Rising; He's covered wars, y'know)

*Four are still somewhat tentative, since the source code tags only show part of their names.

Capcom still hasn't confirmed that this title will have online, have they? I googled it a few times in the past few months with no official confirmation, but posters under these character release articles on various gaming websites claim it as a given.

several gamespot articles says it will have online & those 4 new characters for sure (but online wasnt ready the other day during their latest hands-on w/ the game).

MadKatz is also bringing an arcade stick over. It plugs into the Wiimote and is wireless, and is basically a "port" of the 360/PS3 Fightstick, which is the mid-quality (but still very good) offering.

Sadly, it most likely will become a one-trick pony in terms of honest fighters, but I'd love to be wrong on that. I just don't see too many fighting games coming out that would honestly require it. Which means, crap like Castlevania Dumbment and Tofailden instead of actual real fighting games.

Looks like TvC: Ultimate All-Stars will have new endings for every character, all of them drawn by UDON.

Plus, it doesn't help that the MadCatz fight stick has an MSRP of $80, while the Hori Wii arcade stick can be found for $50 at Amazon (w/ FSSS), or if you're lucky, a local GameStop may have it in stock for $40. There's also the Arcade Fighter Micro from Dreamgear, which is even cheaper.

You're throwing money away with that Dreamgear.

The Hori one is nice, but ever since picking up TE sticks from Mad Katz, I can't go back. So Imma find a way to snag that Wii one on the cheap, because it looks really nice.

Alright whats the best deal. Amazon/Walmart including a 10$ gift card. Preorder at Gamestop for bonus trading cards. Preorder at Gamecrazy for keychains?
I have a modded T5 with Sanwa parts and the convert for the wii ready to go for this game.
How does that work?
How does that work?
I use the Mayflash PS2->GC adapter. Got it from ebay and it works flawlessly with my modded T5 stick which is PS2. I tried it on the japanese TvC and it worked just fine. Although the game was essentially useless without online so i stopped playing it. Very excited to get the US release for online play alone. Lets see if its going to be any good or will it be a disaster like Smash online.

Ps2 to gamecube controller adapter but I tried that route with TvsC Jap and it switched the buttons around making it more trouble then it was worth. So they got rid of the character specific background music? Weak

I can't wait to pick this up to see what type of cards I get.

I have some gift card for best buy from Christmas I'm wondering should I get the Hori stick or the madkatz Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick?

I guess Hori would be best since it's cheaper, but I like that the madkatz one has artwork on it..

I know people might disagree with my statement and that's cool.

But I've been thinking since playing the japanese version it feels like Marvel vs. Capcom 1.5. It's fast but not overally fast MvC 2. Which is some ways I like. It feels like I can keep up with the game moreso, then MvC 2.(I still love it the game but it can get crazy fast).

The thing that gets me excited is the online mode. I don't expect to it to be 360 or PS3 quality but at least matches will play smoothly for the most part.

Maybe I'm wrong about this but Capcom has kept the online in the dark which sort of worries me a little. I still have faith, but with how other online wii games, well for fighters brawl, but I'm not quite sure that is a fair example since it's made by Nintendo. Hopefully Capcom will come out with some good networking code.
