Terry Funk's wrestling topic

Non-title, and Matt looked to be out because of that huge gash on his face. This Matt/MVP storyline has been one of the few bright spots in wrestling. I'd like to see that feud end with a WM24 match, maybe even for all 3 belts (both tag and the US title) at stake.
Damn, I was kind of hoping Jeff dropped the IC strap. I would love to see him fued with Orton for a little bit (even if he did have absolutely no chance of winning).

Does WWE make their buy-rates public? I'm assuming that they have one PPV for every two weeks because its profitable, regardless of the quality of the actual shows. It sounds like they're spreading themselves a little thin though, and maybe cutting back would increase their overall profits.

I miss the four PPV per year schedule that they used to have. Wrestlemania, Summer Slam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble. It was a great schedule that always produced memorable events.
so is john cena getting krunk in boston right now?
Hopefully he threw his arms up in the air to celebreate the Red Sox and retore his pec in the process.

evilmax, buyrates are made public every quarter, since they're publicly traded on the stock market.

I'm afraid to laugh at the lack of Jericho at Cyber Sunday in case it jinxes me and Misawa's plane blows up or something on the way to NYC. Not trying to be funny. Just supersitious.

I don't know about that. I can only take the stupid non wrestling challenges for so long. Plus with absolutely zero tag teams to face on SD, it just got old quick for me.

Hooray for a Terry Funk thread! I just got done reading his book, and it's a damn good read. It's got some great Hart-related stories, including one story of him having dinner at the Hart home, and Stu serving salad after the cat slept on it in front of everyone.

mykevermin, Batista won the belt in... some sort of a match with Khali. He did a spinebuster and pinned him. I've completely forgotten what event it happened at, and aside from whenever Batista is called champion, I've also forgotten that he is the champ. Heck of a world title reign for big Dave so far. At least Khali's was memorably bad, this one is just... boring.

Terry Funk vs. Jerry Lawler, in the empty Mid-South Coliseum, circa 1981. This is the inspiration for (and much more "brutal" than) the Rock/Foley match from SuperBowl Sunday 1999.

And Lance Russell is fucking GOLD.
show's over? absolutely nothing happened? I feel sorry for anyone who spent money on this.
Money? Judging by the descriptions, I feel sorry for anyone who spent the time just to watch it at all.
Money? Judging by the descriptions, I feel sorry for anyone who spent the time just to watch it at all.
it wasn't a terrible show, but after they showed the saveus promo and it became apparent jericho would NOT be coming out, the allure of it was pretty much gone. i'm surprised no one seems to have mentioned jbl and stone cold getting into a bit of back and forth before the stunner. i was shocked to see jbl doing that much in the ring.

It wasn't a crappy PPV by any means. But it wasn't great either. Simply put I felt that Cyber Sunday was a decent show carried by a few decent matches (Taker vs Batistia and HHH vs Umaga). Its not a show that I would watch over and over again but I felt I got my time's worth out of it.

I was live at Cyber Sunday 5 rows behind the ECW announcer table. When I have time tomorrow, I will upload a zip file of all the photos and video clips I was able to get, around 200 MB worth (well, around 130 MB if I don't include the whole Undertaker intro that I recorded). Being on the floor, the quality is so-so at times, but at least it's something. I did get Umaga's "table run" on video, but being on floor level, after he jumps, you can't see anything else, but it still is sort of cool to see it from that angle. I also got a video of HBK's attempted superkick that ended up in Randy Orton's DQ.

the 2005 taboo tuesday was pretty decent...

it had mankind returning.. the batista vs coachman was also interesting because of vader and goldust

Looks like CS was lackluster as expected. I missed it due to being sidelined with a hangover all day yesterday (homecoming weekend, you see).

So, it looks like I'll be tuning into RAW tonight to see Jericho's big return.

fuck.. busy wrestling month for me coming up..

gotta scrounge up mania tickets.. and also have survivor series and raw coming up.

i also wouldnt mind hitting up tna ppv this month to see nash..

so during what segment do you think y2j will come out? will he intefere a orton promo (thus making him face?)

It would be nice if they would sort of pay tribute to when he first appeared, and have him come out right at 10pm. But, I'm not sure it'll matter whether they try to bring him as a face. Honestly, he could probably come out giving chair shots to all of the Diva's, leave them bleeding, and everyone will cheer anyway. Hopefully, the WWE let's him enter as a face, then transition him after the fact here, though they have messed up easy decisions before, so it wouldn't shock me.

You guys don't have to type "tagged". All you have to do is go to "Thread Tools", click it, and select "Subscribe to this thread".

I think I'll record RAW because I get the feeling Y2J won't show, and I ain't wasting two hours to find out. Even if he does show, he'll not be wrestling.

i don't even care if he wrestles at this point. i just want him to come back and cut an epic promo.

Of the three title matches, one ends in a pinfall. The other was a countout (Is this Raw?) and DQ from a low blow (seriously, wtf?). Punk vs. Miz!? Horrible.

I remember calling it last week that Miz gave a better promo than Morrison. Watch Miz get an overblown push and become the new ECW champion.
so during what segment do you think y2j will come out?
During a Santino promo, interupts by telling him to "please shut the hell up".

As for CS, how the hell did the Miz get voted in? I thought John Morrison would hands down winner.

Stevie Richards loves him some iPhone.

And, yes; That is Stevie Richards.

- TNA's website confirms Consequences Creed will be coming into the company.

Creed made his debut at Bound For Glory teaming with Ron Killings. Look for the "Truth and Consequences" tag team to continue.

They actually did cut the number of ppvs back from 14 to 12. I can't agree more with the notion that the WWE is "spreading themselves thin" Vince is just too greedy for the good of the wrestling product. As long as the bottom line remains unchanged, and by sacrificing quality for quantity it isn't changing, Vince is happy.

I think a monthly ppv is still too much, I'd be interested to see what the unique buyrates between ppvs are. Ya know find out who are the people that are buying every ppv no matter what, vs how many people are just buying certain ones. It'd be interesting to see if further reducing the number of ppvs, down to say 8-10, would diminish Vince's profits, or if the number of people buying those 8-10 ppvs would increase, assuming the product was better, and the buyers had the belief that something might actually happen.

That is the real problem with Cyber Sunday, in embryo it's a terrific idea. The problem lie in the execution and the fact that WWE's brass are too chicken-shit to actually give the fans what they want and let a major title change hands at Cyber Sunday.

When do WM tickets go on presale? I was thinking of trying to order a 20 pack or so to get good seats for a group of friends that are planning on making the trip down to Florida for WM, and then I'd just sell off the extra tickets, but every time I call that damn hotline to Florida I get an automated system telling me to call back, or call another number if my request is urgent.

So...when do the less than 20 ticket presales start? I figure I'll just grab 4 tickets or so like last year and let other friends figure it out for themselves. Hmm... make that 8 tickets, just in case, seeing how much they were selling for on ebay later on.
I just noticed that Batista was the champion. When the hell did that happen?

Shows you how much I've been paying attention.
I'll go one better - tonight will be the first time I've watched Raw since Wrestlemania. And if Jericho isn't actually on I will be highly annoyed.

tickets go on sale at ticketmaster this saturday

you guys remember awhile back when I said that Brooke would be the winner of the diva search

well I guess we'll find out tonight as the winner is being chosen...it's a shame all 3 finalists looked sluty last week

It's not really going one better. You made a spectacle of how you were boycotting WWE programming. I merely decided that feeding my alcoholism was preferable to staying home and watching television on Fridays.

The Diva search ends tonight? Wow. There's something else I've managed to not watch a second of since it started a few months back. I don't know a fuckin' thing about a fuckin' one of 'em.

That's because they've limited it almost exclusively to WWE.com. The Asian girl was hot though.

I'm going to laugh if Jericho ends up being Sting's mystery partner instead of returning to the WWE.
I'm going to laugh if Jericho ends up being Sting's mystery partner instead of returning to the WWE.
That would be the most fucked up swerve in the history of wrestling.

I was actually wondering if Rob Van Dam could be his mystery partner, even though it's pretty much all but confirmed that it's Booker T.

(RVD didn't hold a belt when he was in WCW, either. Unless they ignore that fact...)
Two things from the Impact tapings about Sting's partner...
Angle cut a promo saying that he'd find out who Sting's partner would be. Sting told Angle his partner is a former WWE and WCW Champion, and that he hates Angle.

Kevin Nash tells Kurt Angle that he knows who Sting's partner will be and he'll be there next week....Scott Hall.
El-oh-el at that. There's also reports from the tapings that Junior Fatu is already done with the company.
El-oh-el at that.
Last I saw, he was looking like a late Marlon Brando. Hopefully he lost some of the weight.

He's looking better, he had a match with Carlito earlier this year.

I think they can overlook "Robbie V's" tenure in WCW without a world title, but to say a former WWE/WCW world champion, and then to suggest Scott Hall, is insulting to fans' intelligence.

Nevertheless, all signs point to Booker T.

Good about Fatu. fuck him.

Batsita won the belt in a Triple Threat Match against Khali and Mysterio. I believe people even talked about it in the thread when it happened.
