Hi Buzz Killington!
It would definitely be bad for Google, since it's not like anyone here is actually signing up for this with the intention to actually really test these things and submit feedback, which is the point of the whole thing.
Speak for yourself ;). Some of us enjoy testing!

I signed up when I found out about this (not through CAG) because I do think that my attention to detail and love for user experience would help me give Google some good feedback on the OS. As it is, I'm moving a bunch of my tasks and files to using cloud resources, so what the heck, why not?

I'm perfectly content with my vaio z though :applause:

ehhh I disagree on that one. As a marketing major I know just how important this can be to the process of making a solid product. If asked I will fill out a survey EVEN that dead space 2 one... For those of you who didnt see it, it was around 16 pages, asked for details on everything and anything, and had 1 - 10 for things as minor as attack speeds, to speeds, to add ons, to look @_@

As far as the cag community, a lot of people here are very vocal about shit that no one wants to hear.

"I cheated at the subway contest, won 5 games and 2 ps3's and got nothing wah wah wah"

I can easily see the same marketing segment from here doing the same thing...

"This OS is a piece of shit and laggy as hell wah wah wah"

I felt the survey was going really good until the "Hey, write a short story of why you would make a unique user of this laptop!" I was just like.....erm....I'll surf the internet and watch Netflix with it when I go to bed to replace my recently cancelled Cable TV. Something tells me there are much more interesting people that they want to have uses for :(

I'm appalled at all the people applying just to get something free and thinking of it as a contest. I hope that people who use it but don't help test and give feedback get told to send them back or be charged a fee.

Yeah, if only they had collected our names and addresses so they could track their property down if such a thing happened. As it stands, their method of handing the notebooks out on street corners and signing an agreement in pixie dust and rainbows on the wing of a dream is admittedly not ideal.

When you are agree to the terms and conditions at the bottom, you are allowing Google to track your usage and web browsing statistics. Who knows what kind of spying hardware or software they installed on their own machines to collect data? So essentially, they will get all the feedback they need.

I personally don't mind. If I get one, it will be my "go to" gadget for coffee shops and libraries. And if it includes free 3G, I'm taking it everywhere with me. Google will get all the stats they need from me. :D

Uh, I'm a techie and intend to push this thing if I'm lucky enough to receive one. I help with betas all the time, thank you very much.
Your generalization might work better if this were SD.

I signed up and if I get one, I fully intend to test it out for them. Next year I'm going to be in a competition Google is holding and it would make for a great time to test run a Google product.

Get out of here with that people wont test BS...and their is no marketing plan better than word of mouth so if the products are good its a win either way for google

Man so if we get it, they will know how fast/slow chrome os takes to DL porn! I totally forgot they'd prob put software on there to track.
Google did wonderful with android os for phones and I'm excited to see what they can do on PC. I'd thoroughly love to test it out since aside from Linux, what has there been other than windows or mac?
I'm sure we're all comfortable/happy with our current computer situations and having to move to a new comp takes a lot of time to customize and familiarize. So to me getting a new set up isnt really ideal. I would also love to see more specs on the notebook itself as to know how it compares to my netbook.
I won't lie, if I get in on this... it will be my new dedicated porn/twitter machine.
That's still testing.
That's still testing.
Well, especially if you knew that other than CAG, 99% of my computer use is porn and twitter, and I am on a computer a *lot*.

Anyways, new CAG fad is to claim people don't need things they sign up for/win. Every thread needs at least 5 people crapping each page about it.

Jesus h christ we don't need to know about your massive porn habits.
They shipped out about 2000 of these today... No email notification. It just shows up on your doorstep...
I assume you are doing some sort of UPS tracking to get this info?
I won't lie, if I get in on this... it will be my new dedicated porn/twitter machine.
This man speaks the truth, the other one percent is dedicated to action figure searches, steampunk, and WOW info.

If you don't mind me asking, where did that info come from?

They went out Next Day Air at about 1am from the Louisville KY hub... I believe that they have all been delivered today. So, if you didn't get one today, you were not part of that batch.

On SD - somebody posted the UPS number and a guy changed the last 4 to figure out that they had shipped over 1900 of them.

Those all fall under porn, mostly.

So if I am understanding you correctly A Gamer they were shipped out today and people are already getting them?

Also through your nice little tracking devices you use can you tell us if they require signatures when they are delivered or anything similar to that?
So if I am understanding you correctly A Gamer they were shipped out today and people are already getting them?
They shipped them out 'Next Day Air' very late last night (or early this morning depending on your time zone), but since they were at the actual hub in Louisville, they made it into last night's sort, and thus were delivered today.

The Next Day Air is not a signature required service level, so they will leave them. And according to the 'Cr-48 Tracker' (trademark pending?), a lot of Cr-48 Notebooks were left by the front doors, side doors, etc. today.
