OH WHAT THE SHIT...... I just got wind of Big Z's no-no tonight. That figures, the one time probably in my life the Cubs will have a no-no and I didn't see any of it. Seeing that would've been great therapy for me after the Bears disgusting loss earlier.

Yeah this was a bad....and i mean bad loss. I know we had chances with the 1,000,000 times we had bases loaded in this series...but the bullpen should be able to keep a 2-run lead. this was pathetic. Im not blaming manual. I think he did a great job managing the game..but the bullpen didnt come through.

If we even think playoffs someone has to step up....joe smith?

Im not giving up yet until the last game at shea..but we wont make it with 27 and may be more blown saves on the year. hopefully they get their act together when we go back to Turner. this is rediculous.

Yeah while I was messing with fantasy football stuff I checked the score on-line and saw he was into the 7th with a no hitter. In the 9th I turned on ESPN and they did a live cut-in so I got to catch the last 3 outs.
 
I actually got to go to the game last night when Z threw it and it was probably one of the best sports moments I have ever been apart of.

I was also at the game today and almost saw Lilly pitch a no no but that 1 hit in the 7th ruined that.
 
Wow why doesnt today somehow not surprise me about the Mets. they never fail to disappoint with more failure. Offense was stagnant. Martinez gave up 4 runs which is now quite normal since he gives up about 5 a game now. No surprise on Sanchez giving up the 3 run bomb to Dukes. and no surprise that Delgado/Beltran/Wright combined 0-11 4K.

All is normal in Met Land.

Go Cubbies! I can't believe I had to work for the no hitter. Oh well, I sure hope they can take it all this year, not many challengers in the NL.

It's September, you're team is facing the Nationals, and you're losing. Pretty typical Mets choke if you ask me. The Mets definitely need to finish all their games with the Nationals by August 31st to even stand a chance of making the playoffs, because in September they kill them.

Also, my Red Sox are tied for first somehow, and the Cubs...please make it to the series. That's all anyone wants of you. In a Red Sox/Cubs series, I'd take the Cubs to win, even though the Sox are my team. I don't think the Red Sox will make it to the series though.
 
I'm just waiting to celebrate for the first time since, what, 95 that the Yankees haven't made the playoffs. Goes to show not matter how much you pay you'll never be a guaranteed playoff contender.

I'm a Sox fan but I hope the Rays manage to keep first place. They deserved it this year.
 
As interesting as it would be for the Rays to win the AL East, it would mean another Red Sox/Angels AL Wild Card matchup. And I'm sure Angels fans wouldn't want that. I share the sentiments about the Yankees not making the playoffs. I don't think they'll make the playoffs next year either unless they heavily restructure contracts to get a bullpen. But the new kid on the block is an idiot, so let the good times roll :)
 
While in the past the sox have manhandled the angels, they are 1 - 8 vs them this year. I would prefer the sox take first, and have the rays deal with the angels in the first round.

Thats the regular season, but I'd still rather win the East and try to get the best record. 9-0 against the Angels in the post season (last 3 series atleast) has a nice ring to it. Plus if we do play them, our rotation hopefully lines up with Beckett, Lester, and Daisuke. But East or Bust!!!
 
while I believe our rotation matches up/if not a tad better then the angels our middle relief sucks compared to theirs. Paps has been struggling recently and only throws a flat 96mph right now. No sliders no splitters...

In their last three losses -- two to the Yankees, and Monday's 13-5 blowout at the hands of the Red Sox -- Tampa Bay's starters have combined to allow 18 earned runs in 10 innings (16.20 ERA).

It's worth noting that three of the starters, Matt Garza, Andy Sonnanstine and Edwin Jackson, will finish the season with career highs in innings pitched. Garza had never thrown more than 83 innings prior to 2007. He'll double that total this season -- and has won just once since Aug. 15.

If the Rays are going to hang on to first place tonight at Tropicana Field, Sonnanstine is probably their best bet. He shut out the Red Sox for seven innings last week in a 4-2 victory.

The Rays' only problem? They'll be facing Josh Beckett, who, apparently healthy again, has allowed just one run in 11 innings this month.

that is a big bump for a couple of there starters with 2 wks left and the post season still left. I wonder if they do ok vs the twins if they will rest some of there starters the rest of they way. Francona rests all starters on a regular basis...dice k, beckett and wakefield all spent at least a couple weeks on the DL, with only wakefields being somewhat serious. It is widely believed that both dice k back in june or so and beckett at the start of the season and again a few wks ago were put on the DL to rest them for a post season push.

We've had almost 100 years of being fucked. I do think the choice of Miller Park as the "neutral" setting for the makeup games was complete crap.

Hmm let's see the Commissioner Bud Selig owns the Brewers. Miller Park was chosen as the site for makeup games. The stadium is a short driver from Chicago. Cubs fans bought the fuck out of the tickets. Selig gets two additional games worth of revenue.

No shit. What a turd commissioner Selig is. I'm watching the Dodgers/Pirates game right now, and the Pittsburgh commentators are talking about how ridiculous that was.

I don't blame the Cubbies or Zambrano. Hell, this is a playoff race.
 
fucking masterson...he hasn't had control problems for the majority of his time in the big leagues...I am fine with the walk, but 2 on, 1 out and you have an 0 - 2 count and you hit floyd on his ankle WHAT THE fuck...assuming he was able to get floyd out, then niavarro deep pop fly would have been the inn ending out rather then game winning base hit over the pulled in OF...

Hopefully they win tomorrow, but if not, they're at the very least 5 up in the Wild Card with 9 to play, which is still shaky, but something to hold onto. Hopefully tomorrow's outcome is a better one for the Sox.

And even with a loss tomorrow, the Sox can look forward to the Twins and Rays beating each other up in a 4 game set over the weekend. That is assuming they can get out of Toronto with 2 of 3.

And then, they end the season with a 7 game homestand, with the Indians and the Yankees. And WTF, speaking of the Yankees, is MLB thinking by having their last game at Yankee Stadium this coming weekend, against the Orioles? At the very least, they could've ended Yankee Stadium in another week.

Bud Selig sold the Brewers in 2004 to Mark Attanasio.
 
pelfry was great but offense lackluster again. now we have the while card lead and are only a half game back. hopfully if the Braves can win and hopefully the mets start to rebound. we can regain the NL East.

I'm rooting for the Rays even though they're a) in my team's division, and b) currently holding the top spot. I am hoping the Red Sox take over the division, but if the Red Sox don't win the WS, I hope it's the Rays (or the Cubbies, so people can STFU about curses and BS).
 
I'd root for just about anyone in the World Series, if the Red Sox don't make it, besides the Dodgers, due to Manny and him actually playing hard out there.
 
How different now that people have an opinion about the Dodgers after no one thinking twice (cept for Giants fans) for about 20 years now.

The emotional attachment to Manny by even non-Sox fans is really weird to me, although I realize there are quite a few more Sox fans around now that they win.

I actually don't give a rat's about the Dodgers, despite their efforts to create their own mini Red Sox team. However, Frank McCourt is a d0uche and I thank every day he didn't become owner of the Red Sox. Beyond that, I respect what Manny did for the Red Sox and the role he played in our first championship. Personally, I think he's an immature disloyal punk, and I hope no team he's on ever makes it back to the big dance.

It's not now for me, I grew up not liking Los Angeles teams. I don't like the Lakers, Dodgers, well I did like the Kings a long time ago. :lol:
