The 2012/2013 NBA Season Thread
Oh no nothing will surpass game 6 of the 2002 western conference finals. That game bought bad officiating to the forefront.
Motherfucking Game 6. If you don't think L.A. got helped by the bullshit calls made in that game, you've got blinders on. Really sucks for LAL because this is the legacy of this championship.

Lets not also forget Spurs gift wrapped 2007 title where Suns got shafted hardcore, i was pulling for Nash that year. Honorable mention to Bennett Salvatore trying to turn D Wade into the next Jordan.

Being from Sacramento and a huge kings fan. Every time that game is mentioned I get angry all over again

The fines are great and all, but the fine is ~1% of your salary if you make league minimum. To a guy like LeBron, it's like saying "You fucked up, so you have to buy Stern some McDonald's."

Lebron James flop guide as seen on @SportsNation

I would guess the crossover between Nickelback and Pacers fans is by far greater than the crossover with Miami fans. Living in Indiana, I'm qualified to say that. That horrible shit is everywhere. It's even worse now that the weather is warmer and the rednecks are driving around with their windows down.

And there's nothing worse than standing in line behind someone when their phone rings and they have Nickelback as their ring tone. Somehow, I feel embarrassed for them.

According to someone I trust, this is where Indiana sweeps Miami. They told me this after Game 3. Indiana took Game 4 and apparently are in the lead going into halftime.

What do you guys think? Sorta curious. I haven't been an NBA fan since 2006, so I'm far out of the loop.

Love how the media, espn, etc conveniently now brings up officiating but only when it comes to the Heat as if Lebron setting an obvious illegal screen and Wade traveling is some sort of travesty as if both didn't commit such obvious turnovers. Garnett and Howard get called for that all the time so Lebrons horrible attempt at a screen should be no different.

Steve Kerr and Reggie Miller should be ashamed of themselves for trying to downplay all the garbage flopping and giving Miami a bailout excuse for anytime they dare lose to a team that is actually better than them. Impact Wrestling was actually entertaining than that nonsense tonight,

One is an ejection, one is a technical on Psycho T LOL, nothing more needs to be said about where the League stands.

Also shout outs to the Flower forward Bosh with an amazing 5 boards!!

I don't think dwade traveled at all on that play. It probably looked liked it because his step back motion appears to be not in rhythm. But on just the number of steps, it was okay.

Dude, KG made a living out of moving screens lol. KG was probably the player that got the most uncalled moving screens in recent memory. He has a habit too of extending his elbows and knees most of the time. Don't know about howard picks tho lol. And yeah lebron deserevd a foul on that because he stepped on stephensons foot.

Birdman might be gone tho for game 6. He deserved a ejection for blind side hit on psycho t.

This is probably the least flops i've seen heat did during this entire playoffs. They have learned their lesson. Or they didn't need to flop as they took control from the 2nd half on. Floping seems to happen more often in tight games.

George hill would like to disagree with you since 3 straight flops is what put him into foul trouble again in the 3rd to start the momentum shift didnt help either that 90% layups kept pulling a Patrick Ewing and bounced back out.
Also lebron still thinks we'll believe that DJ Augustin can knock him off balance glad Kerr pointed that out when that happened.

I have fond memories of Mookie, i remember jordan pushed him out of bounds and there was no foul called LOL. Also he looked a bit like michael jordan imo.

Both the Kings and the Bucks have new head coaches. Milwaukee wasted no time in snatching up Larry Drew after he was let go by the Hawks.
Im kind of mad we (Bucks) traded Tobias Harris and Deron Lamb to get Redick who will likely bolt in the offseason.
Thank you for the deal. As much as I liked Redick, I knew he would get big money in offseason. To get two young hot players for him, I was happy

"I don't need to flop,'' James said. "I play an aggressive game. I don't flop. I've never been one of those guys.''

Huge balls on Hibbert for dropping that truth bomb before the series has concluded. Seen a few people looking for a suspension which is absolutely ludicrous. However, crossing fingers it doesn't affect the officiating in the decider since that is in the realm of possibility.
Is "no homo" really a gay slur?

Honest question, as I wouldn't use it in normal conversation, but I thought it more of a joke than a slur.
No homo is a joke. All it means is "not in a gay way", but more laid back. More media trying to create drama is all this is.

That's what I thought. I was watching sportscenter this morning and was shocked that they were even talking about it.

I only asked because I didn't want to use it if it was widely offensive.

I think it is. It's homophobic.

Hey laugh at my joke, but hold on I'm not gay. Don't think I am.

Only if you're really sensitive.

Next week we will see a commercial with Hilary Duff saying ... how would you like it if people said, i totally love lebron, "No hibbert". Dont say No homo.

rotf so damn stupid that they really think he used a fucking slur, shits to funny.

"Sooooo, we have come to a point where declaring yourself as not homosexual is offensive to other people? The insane thing is the writer of these "this is offensive" stories react before any reputable gay rights organization even has time to process if this is, in fact, offensive. The moron's who report this garbage like it's news have almost completed their goal of ruining common sense and killing critical thinking and instead of signing their work with a name the story is credited to a huge media conglomerate so no one is held accountable. Bush league."

:applause: Best comment Ive seen so far.

Jason Kidd has retired. In my mind, he's behind only Magic and Stockton on the list of best point guards. I'd probably be saying something similar about Grant Hill and his position if only he could've stayed healthy after he left Detroit.

In worse news, Manu Ginobili plans on coming back next year.

edit - On the list of best point guards, I meant the ones I've watched during all the years I've followed the NBA. Once Nash retires, I might bump Kidd and replace him with Nash at #3.

Well how long till Nash retires?
I always liked Nash... And what he had to go through this season was painful to watch. I don't want him to go out like that, but he can't play like he used to be. Maybe he will give this next season a try (with the lakers) then retire after that.

I was really surprised to hear that the Nuggets let George Karl go. Especially when you consider the fact that he just won Coach of the Year too. I doubt that he will be without a job for long though.

NBA Finals about to start and this should be a great one. I'm going to go San Antonio in 6 simply because I don't expect Bosh and Wade to be consistent enough to beat a Popovich led team.

I'm willing to bet a couple bucks Paypal on it lol any takers?

That last second shot by Tony Parker could be one of the closest buzzer beaters I've ever seen. Pretty much sealed the game too.

fuckin LOL at that press conf. Lebron trying to correct the boxscore talking about how he is good in math and stuff saying its impossible for spurs to get 21 2nd chance points because they only grabbed 6 orebs and 18 is the most 2n chance points you can get from 6 orebs  lol. He is correct though isn't it?

Edit:

What does Second Chance Points Mean?

A basketball phrase used to describe any points scored during a possession by the offense after an offensive player has already attempted one shot and missed. If a player is fouled on a shot attempt and receives free throws, any points scored are not considered second chance points. However, if a second shot attempt in a possession results in a missed shot and a foul which awards free throws, any free throws made would be considered second chance points.

Didn't watch the game, but did that happen at all?

Team rebounds? Spurs shoot, Miami attempts to rebound and touches the ball but it still goes out of bounds, Spurs possession, they score?
I think you are correct. Never thought about that until now. Thanks for that knowledge haha.

No problem. I was curious myself when you brought up the subject.
