Why would he challenge for the ECW belt? It'd be more interesting to have him challenge Edge after he retains.
Of course it would be, but wrestling's fake. They don't always do what makes sense.

I wouldn't say fun per se, but at least over the last few weeks there's been a semblance of consistency.

WM perdictions:

MnM/Colons - MnM unify the belts.
Mitb - MVP (I can only hope. Him retaining the US title last night kinda put me in doubt).
Matt/Jeff - I almost completely forgot about this match. Jeff wins.
Rey/JBL - I'll give it to JBL
HBK/Taker - Taker's streak is safe, but the match will still be awesome.
Jericho/Legends - Legends win after interference from Rourke
HHH/Orton - I smell a swerve of some kind, I just can't put my finger on it.
Cena/Edge/Show- Cena :snore:

Wow, I forgot about Matt/Jeff too. Since it's Extreme Rules, I give it to Matt Hardy. On paper, these two should have an excellent match since they've probably been practicing spots against each other for years. Their last "feud" sucked though, and I hope they've got better chemistry now. The stipulation should add some fun to the match and probably will provide for a few exciting spots.

I really think that HBK is going to beat Undertaker. Seems impossible but that is one of the main reason I think it's going to happen.

Other predictions are:
JBL over Rey
Jericho over the Legends (leading to Rouke coming in to punch him out while they all celebrate so Jericho get the win, the legends get the last laugh)
MnM over The Colons
Jeff Hardy over Matt
25-Diva Battle Royal - Who cares? If I had to guess, I'll go with Mae Young
Cena over Edge/Big Show (to close out the show and send the fans home happy)
Orton over HHH (some type of McMahon swerve, maybe Linda screwing HHH over)
MitB - I'm going to go with the dark horse and say Kane. I have an awesome image in my head of Kane standing near the top of a ladder holding the case while cackling maniacally.

I'm pretty sure that was either on Raw or ECW this past week.

On another note, I'm hoping things change after WM. I'm tired of seeing the same old MitB eight man tags and Miz/Morrison-Colons-Bella twins matches all the time.
I'm pretty sure that was either on Raw or ECW this past week.
Did it?

I haven't watched any wrestling in two weeks due to it being so blah.
Who wants to be the world champion of tuesday night velocity?

Onto TNA, are their shows getting better or something? Their ratings have steadily and consistently grown over the past couple weeks such that they're roughly 40% higher than they were when they languished for eternity in the 0.9-1.0 range for years on Spike. Is it fun to watch again?
I've been enjoying it but my expectations for TNA are lower than they are for WWE. Plus I'm more lenient to an underdog. They've cut a lot of dead weight in the last 4-6 weeks with the Beer Money tag team challenge. Give it a go and see what you think.

Mizorrison over Colons - Miz and Morrison leave with 4 belts, 2 slammies, 2 Bellas

JBL over Rey - possible JBL retirement speech?

Trish wins Diva Battle Royal, ends with Trish/Beth, Santino hilarity causes Beth to lose

Christian wins MITB

Edge over Cena/Big Show - Big Show hits the knockout punch on Cena, Edge shoves big show out of the ring, pins Cena.

Christian defeats Edge for World Championship (we all know Smackdown is getting reamed in the draft next week, and I think they can trust him with the B show world title)

Triple H over Randy Orton

Undertaker over HBK

Jeff Hardy over Matt Hardy

Jericho over legends - gets laid out by Rourke and put into the figure four by Flair afterwards

The Edge/Christian thing is a longshot, but it could lead to some combo of Edge/Christian/Matt/Jeff and a ladder.

I'm surprised that Jack Swagger isn't doing anything match-wise, but it would be pretty bad for Christian to win MitB and redeem it for the ECW title.

I'm glad that they're merging the tag titles since either title holder's competition is barren on Smackdown or Raw, though it would've been nice to do that when London and Kendrick ruled on Smackdown.

The draft is soon? Is Cena considered officially to be on Smackdown or Triple H on Raw? I could see those being made official if not.
-------------------
I've noticed that WWE and THQ had some people in the games media go to Houston for the Wrestlemania events and probably for more coverage of Legends of Wrestlemania, so I figured you might be interested in what they've done.

Jeff Gerstmann of Giant Bomb took a few pictures:

http://twitpic.com/2u6to (See if you can spot the Great Khali in the crowd or anyone else you can recognize)
http://twitpic.com/2sfrm (One of the interview sessions)

He mentioned on his twitter: "Formula for excitement: hand Roddy Piper a microphone and bring up They Live." He also talked to Shad Gaspard, Dusty Rhodes, and Jimmy Hart.

I don't see any videos up on GB yet, but I'm guessing they'll put them up this week when they get back.

Watching the HoF thing on wwe.com right now...LOL at Finkel's induction video:

"Arguably the greatest ring announcer in WWE history."

...yeah, Lillian and Mel Phillips are really close runners-up, right?

Makes no difference to me. Being the greatest ring announcer still means you're just a ring announcer. I never had my enjoyment of an event change due to the announcing skills of a person. Lillian is easy on the eyes, but beyond that I could care less who the announcer is.

I agree with all of that, except for JBL/Rey.

BTW, who is that in your avatar?

Ring announcers are pretty important, honestly. You can't throw any Joe out there. Their timing, their pitch, their enunciation must be perfect to get you in the mood.

Compare it to the canned recordings in the Smackdown video games, Guile. They're off, and it really harms the authenticity and energy of the entrances.

Finkel is a heck of a ring announcer, and they are a valued and important (if largely invisible) part of the show. And easy fodder for heels to get heat off of. Mr. Kennedy's first WWE feud was against Tony Chimmel (sp?), after all.

To each their own, but....no, sorry, I can't even fake it. Having someone like Finkel announcing an important title match instantly makes it seem more important than anyone else they've ever had filling the role.

Watts' speech was great. Seems like it ran a little long but I could have listened to him for another 20 minutes.

I just think that eveyone I have heard on TV has been fine. It isn't like they have ever had anyone of the "quality" of Ozzy Osbourne trying to announce.

What gets me in the mood is the comments of the play by play or the entrance themes. I already know who is in the match, what is on the line, and that it is one fall. Having someone tell me again doesn't matter to me. When WCW trotted out Michael Buffer back in the day, the only thing I could think of is that money could have been used to pay a wrestler instead of him.

I suppose if I was at a live event I would care. Finkel was annoucing the house show I went to last year, and he was great, but when I watch wrestling on TV it doesn't hype me up at all.

I agree with your comment about the games though.

I forgot about HoF. I turned it on just in time for Steamboat. That's all I need.

So Steamboat is wrestling tomorrow night? I thought he couldn't wrestle anymore due to insurance reasons.

I can't believe they only showed Steamboat. They'll show Austin next. They have pictures and everything on WWE.com, but still. Apparently Michael Hayes was on stage, so was Honky Tonk Man.. yet they waste time by showing what tomorrow night's match between Shawn and Undertaker may be like by simulating it in Legends of Wrestlemania. Wow.

Hopefully the full HoF will be on the Blu-Ray when it comes out next month.
I forgot about HoF. I turned it on just in time for Steamboat. That's all I need.
Same here. Segment ended just in time for me to start watching the LA Galaxy webcast thru MLS's website.

WTF at that goal Colorado made in the first 17 seconds.... damn.

So Steamboat is wrestling tomorrow night? I thought he couldn't wrestle anymore due to insurance reasons.

I got a feeling it will be a overly long segment...

... that will end with Austin doing a run in, stunning Jericho, then having a few beers with the other legends.
Do you mean Gary Michael Cappetta, or David Penzer?
Derr. I fail - I had Penzer, but I decided Cappetta was better and my edit skills are subpar.

In the interest of getting this thing to 500 before the show tomorrow, what songs produced specifically to be wrestling entrance music would you like to see in a fake plastic rock game? The first one that comes to my mind is the original DX theme... after that, most of the ones I'd like to see are actual songs done by real bands and whatnot.

I've always thought about this one, I even had an idea for a Rockband WWE Track Pack:

Rev Theory - Voices
Saliva - I Walk Alone
??? - Break The Walls Down
Motorhead - The Game
Motorhead - King of Kings
Motorhead - Evolution

Well for songs that became wrestler themes i'd say...

CM Punk's Killswitch Engage one
Edge - Alter Bridge - Metallingus
Triple H - Motorhead - The Game, Evolution

Ones that are specifically wrestling themes

Hulk Hogan - Real American
Undertaker - his 1998 one, same as the Ministry one but with a guitar intro and no chanting
Bret Hart

Miz/Morrison over Carlito/Primo
Christian to win Money In The Bank
Trish wins Diva Battle Royal
JBL over Rey to retain
Undertaker over HBK
Jericho over The Legends (Flair turns on Legends)
Orton over HHH
Cena over Show/Edge

Just thinking of THAT voice saying the words "your winner... and NEWWWWWW" has all sorts of childhood memories attached to it, haha.

debating whether I should order the PPV tomorrow or just wait til it comes out on disc. I assume the BR will have a lot of extra features?

Ooooh, we're so close to hitting 500 so we can have a WM thread! C'mon, guys, we can do it!!!

I just caught the end of the Raw replay on USA. I didn't know they ended the show with Legacy vs. The Avengers! at Vince's pose.

Oh yeah, I saw that and LOL'd big time.

Heck everytime Vince does that "strut" I can't help but laugh.

I really haven't been watching any wrestling for the past year or so, but some things seem to stay the same. :p

Doing my part for CAG...

The motorhead-done themes (Evolution, The Game, etc)
Drowning Pool's version of The Game

Actually, hell, I'd take just about anything from WWF Forceable Entry. Just about.

My mania predictions:
Taker over Michaels
Mizorrison unifying the tag belts
JBL over Mysterio
Matt over Jeff
*sigh* Legends over Y2J, while I cry about how sad this is
MVP for Money in the Bank
Diva battle Royal: I don't give a flying fuck

Now, the world title matches intrigue me. I can only see one of them changing, but which one is up in the air. I'll call them as follows:
Orton over HHH
Edge retains
Then in the draft, look for Cena and HHH to switch spots.

I'm only 60/40 on it, though. I can see HHH retaining, in which case Cena goes over, and both Cena and HHH stay on their own brands. I don't think HHH retaining is likely; it's rather lame to blow this feud off in a single 1-on-1. It IS WWE, though, so I'm only 60/40 on it. :)

Is Vickie kayfabe preggers, or was that a 4/1 joke? If it wasn't April Fools and is general retardery from the WWE, I'd think Cena goes over; Edge and Show will feud over Vickie and not the title, and maybe Cena and MVP can get a program going. Cena going over means HHH retains, in my booking plans.

That's fucked up. They were probably paid like $10 each, too, if that.

Are any sites that stream PPVs supported by the Wii Internet Channel? I want to watch WM25 on my TV.

EDIT: For free.

In interest of getting closer to a new thread here are my mania predictions:

Cena over Big Show and Edge
HHH over Orton. I'd like to pick Orton but when does HHH ever lose?
Miz and Morrison over Carlito and Primo
MVP wins Money in The Bank (although Christian winning wouldn't surprise me)
Undertaker over HBK
Diva Battle Royal - I could care less probably Mae Young
JBL over Rey
Legends over Jericho (maybe Mickey Rourke interference?)

Caught the last half hour of the HoF induction, though I sense that's the only part that really mattered. Austin was terrible, and, of course, Vince McMahon managed to make the entire thing about him, as usual. Bah.

Random shots of Mark Henry are awesome. Hey, it's Steamboat and Flair! Hey, it's uh... Sexual Chocolate Mark Henry.

Look, I'm really just typing at this point. We're real close to 500, so another post down.

I'd give Mania predictions, but... well, the sad truth is... I don't even care enough to predict them.
