The AUTHENTIC Toys-R-Us (TRU) Clearance Thread! Please Post New Drops In Red!!!

I noticed that this thread has been dead for a while so I contacted the author and she agreed to let me take over...so we are starting a minty fresh, brand-spanking-new Toys R Us clearance game thread....

I have put the last 2 entries under spoilers so we wouldn't lose that data but most of it is pretty old...I will probably delete the stuff that goes back to early 2010 as it is really irrelevant....so we are gonna start small here....I have a few updates to post from my ventures out today..

I would like to keep this thread in the spirit of the Target Clearance Game thread so I will be setting it up like that...

Any questions, comments, suggestions just drop me a PM...

Here we go....

Welcome to the Toys R Us clearance thread! Like all stores, Toys R Us also has clearance games-- and they often drop numerous times, such as going down to 19.98, 9.98, 5.00, and even as low as 3.00. There doesn't appear to be a set rhythm to when these drops occur, or how many of them will occur. Also, be aware that the games may not have their prices correctly marked-- generally, all TRUs will have the same pricing (there will always be exceptions) so do not let the price tag dissaude you from at least checking to see if it's at the price that it's been reported here.

For the most part, prices are universal! Though there will always be exceptions...

I might go to one more TRU tomorrow to hopefully grab a Cabela & Rapala for PS3. The one I went to today only had Cabela on 360 which I just may go back for if I can't find it for PS3.

Has anybody in the H-Town area seen the PS3 Cabelas or Rapala Bundles at any TRUs? I'd hate to do the runaround if someone has spotted them already.
Didn't TRU get sand in their snatch over a previous clearance thread being titled "OFFICIAL" and bitch at Cheapy to have the title changed? Or did they settle down? Either way thanks for putting this together jimijumper.
:lol:Yeah they did. I guess they thought folks on CAG would figure that the thread was sponsored by TRU or something.

Either way, as others have said I believe they did bump up the clearance prices to MSRP during this B2G1, since :ps3:Dance On Broadway came up $11.24 on Sunday/Monday when the 25% clearance discount was still working in conjunction with the B2G1 as opposed to the $8.48 listed in the OP. So the 25% discount was taken from the MSRP of $14.99, I guess.

This is largely why I don't bother with TRU since they seem to like to gouge out the wazoo for shipping from their site and change prices back to MSRP whenever it suits them on clearance items.

It feels much more ... authentic-ish in here now.

Heading to the clearance good tru this afternoon to vainly try to pick up PoP trilogy in the b2g1. hopefully I'll have something interesting to report.

While I was trying to find a 3rd title to go along with my two 360 Rapala games (ending up getting a 3rd) I noticed High School Musical 3 (w/ dance pad) for 360 was $9.98 as well (if you're into that sort of thing).
I've now picked up 3 copies of Cabela's (employee tried to get me to buy 3 more) and 3 copies of Rapala for 360. The kids and nephews should be content for awhile (used a $10 TRU rewards card on the 3 Cablela's, so $10 for the set isn't too shabby)

damn, wish i knew about the rapala bundle being $9 too, whelp i'm going back, i am gonna buy two more cabala bundles for gifts for my cousins and keep the fishing game B^)

Went in today on my day off & had my buddy get Brink & You Don't Know Jack (both 360) out of the case for me. They were both marked $29.99 but I took them up the register myself & rang them up. Both $29.99. Fail. My first experience at my store with clearance prices not ringing up as they should.

Nabbed a 360 Cabela's Bundle and Final Fantasy 1 & 2 for PSP. A lot of the stuff from the OP is not marked as clearance in my store. May have to go back

Went to ToysRus and they didn't have any cabelas bundle just the 2012 version did see that 3d dot heroes had a clearance tag but the price said 34.99 and lair was also on clearance for 49.99 didn't check them at the register so don't know the price.

Hit TRU in search of the elusive Rapala PS3 bundle, but no go, I could only find the Wii and 360 versions...so I picked them up along with Enslaved, $27 & change OTD for those 3...

Saw a couple of interesting items:

Super Street Fighter IV CE priced behind the glass @ $64.98
10 copies of Disgaea 2 Black Label (PS2) priced @ $19.99 each

EDIT: Also saw Disgaea 3 on clearance for $34.98

Picked up a Rapala for 360 thanks!

These games are on clearance online so you can try to get them to price match them in store. Long story
I managed to get 2 games price matched at TRU, Driver 3DS & Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion. I initially went Monday and got denied but decided to call another TRU and they told me the opposite. I guess they look for something on the site that says online only. Punch Time Explosion sold out online and was taken off the site but I managed to find the Google cache and used that.

Driver Renegade - $19.98 3DS
Dual Pen Sports - $19.98 3DS
Steel Diver - $19.98 3DS
Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 - $19.98 3DS
Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion - $19.98 3DS - Google Cache Link

It seems that Driver Renegade is OOS for shipping which initially happened to Punch Time Explosion (if you read the spoiler), so you might have to look it up through Google Cache if it disappears.

I don't think Disgaea 2 ever went Greatest Hits so all are black label.

Is the 25% off clearance over? I got 4 copies of cabella's, the fishing game, and FFT.. but didn't get an aditional % off they all rang up as free or 9.98. I thought i remember still seeing the signs up but didn't notice till i got home

This thread had been a wasteland for far too long, I'm just glad that we are able to cash in on some games right away...

Just had a miserable experience with this on/off unofficial crap of "who knows what store will actually honor their policies". I tried to get all 3 of the games you had listed for the online $19.98 price and the dumb manager said he would have no way to recoup such a huge loss on those games, as if he was the freaking CEO and the money came directly out of his check or something! I will never understand how so many retail employees get this attitude as if the products in the store are actually their own and that they're personally losing something by simply price-matching. If I worked any of these crappy jobs, there's no way I would think twice about giving a damn about letting someone have a deal. Like any of the millions of dollars in yearly profits are going to magically trickle down to my pocket:roll:

To make it worse, called 2 other stores and they both said that their only price-matching policy was to match their online site. Though I should have known it was going to be trouble at my store when the manager had to radio some lackey to see exactly what qualified for the B2G1 sale:dunce: How someone can be put in a position as a retail manager and not even know the basics of their own sales, is a case for Unsolved Mysteries. I called corporate and asked could they please send out a memo to all stores explaining their price matching policy, as I don't like wasting my time for some "shades of gray" BS some managers are following. The lady on the other end didn't seem to care, but hopefully something happens so that others are not at the discretion of some rogue CEO manager wannabe...

wow greenspark, thats friggin lame. Ya, TRU is friggin pathetic. I honestly dont know how the hell they stay in business with their terrible customer service policies and how disorganized and crappy all the stores are. Not to mention their f'd up pricing

And yet you just posted that you purchased six games there, two of which you got free and the other four of which were well below any other store out there. Doesn't sound like a bad store to me.

I picked up a Cabela's,have you guys played it yet or did you get them for gifts? The gun doesnt work great on a 50'' or larger tv,i ended up just using the DS3.I guess for $10 its ok,but i'd be right pissed off if i paid full price for it,lol.

29.98 :ps2:
Band Hero Super Bundle (added 10-18-11)
I know that this may really upset many of you who were in the market for it, and {per it's product description} had longed "to ascend the virtual stage and rock their way to superstardom with Band Hero." but the Super Bundle rang up at $129.99 today (10-20-11) in Charleston, SC; wanted to pass that on to any of you chomping at the bit to get your hands on this 25 lb piece of rock lore....

Greenspark if the game says online only under the item then that price can't be matched in store because it is online only. if it doesn't have online only then it can be price matched

That's what I was thinking going in, as I've never tried to price-match at TRU before, just using the info Skiizim originally posted. I made sure the items I wanted were not online only before driving out there, trust me. I was simply frustrated at TRU's lackadaisical approach to knowing the details behind thier own policy and being an area of "gray" wherein it's up to some random manager's attitude for the day. I like things black and white. Either you have a coporate policy instituted and it's followed to the letter or get rid of it!

However, this still will not deter me from shopping at TRU if the deal is too good to pass up. Just need to make sure I have on my BS blockers in case they want to get stupid next time I try price-matching there:cool:

Epic mickey charger for Wii remote - $29.98
Media Expansion Bar for PS3 - $9.98
Dead to Rights Retribution (PS3) - $9.98

I think 360 version of Dead to Rights is same price too

Grabbed
:360: Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 bundle
:360: Rapalla Pro Bass Fishing bundle

They were doing buy 2 get 1 free so I saw a lady with some kids looking at Wii games and gave them :wii: Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 bundle

All for only $21.xx after tax

Thanks OP keep up the good work

I got it to work fine on my 65" TV...the only catch is I have to sit about 15 feet back from the TV :)

Found a :ps3: Cabelas and a :360: Rapala at the Humble TRU. I got the last Cabelas for PS3 but they had a few 360 ones left yesterday.

I feel you but I didn't give up either due to the enormous savings on these fairly new games. I went back to the first store I originally got denied but was helped by a very wonderful asst manager. Do they have them in stock at the other TRU you called and if they do hopefully they are not to far away.

Here is an example of what is stated as "online only" in the special offers box. If you have any more problems maybe you can call or email them to help you out.

Cool man, thanks for the extra clarification, but I already did what you just stated and simply went to one of the other stores I called. The nice girl even talked it over with her manager to make sure I didn't make the trip for nothing, so the experience turned out quite pleasurable elsewhere. And I encourage others as well, don't give up if you want to save some easy money:)

I'm glad you managed to get it, what games did you get after all? I tried to look for some sort of policy online but didn't find anything. Makes it really frustrating at the store, the person I was denied by the first time has been working there for 10 seasons
ended up spotting a y-sealed version of Deblob 2 which I've only seen shrinkwrapped
Okay, maybe this is a silly question, but...why does it matter?
Okay, maybe this is a silly question, but...why does it matter?
No, not a silly question at all and I will gladly answer. It matters to me, because this is how 99.9% of games arrive from the manufacturer to retail shelves day one of the game being made available. I've never purchased a used console or game in my life because I like my games and systems brand new. When I see a game shrink-wrapped, to me that signifies the possibility it may have been a return that someone opened, meaning "used" and some store/marketplace/ebay seller is trying to pawn that cheaply wrapped crap off to me.

I've monitored this carefully over the years since I started buying games and I will admit that there are some instances wherein that maybe the only way to receive the game new. The fairly recently released Resident Evil Mercenaries 3DS comes to mind as I've checked this game at every Wal-mart, K-mart, Best Buy, Target, Gamestop and even ordered copies from Amazon and the Capcom store day one and I've yet to find one y-sealed. So for now, I can accept that game into my collection as is, unless one turns up somewhere
Do you by chance know where I can get one:)
I've noticed that after a few months sometimes less, that unless it's a game from the wonderful Nintendo, (whom all game manufacturers should ascribe to emulate in their wrapping policies) there's a big possibility that the majority of copies occupying the shelves will be shrink-wrapped. Back when Monster Tale DS came out, I saw that Target had a decent stock of y-sealed versions but didn't want to pay $30 at the time. Lo and behold they put it on sale for $19.99 sometime later and I visited 8 Targets that day and could only find shrink-wrapped copies:bomb:

I'll be the first to admit there are way more important things in life to occupy one's mind and time with other than how a game comes packaged. But people obsess over all types of behaviors plenty of other people might find silly or without merit on a daily basis. Mine just happens to be ensuring I have a y-sealed copy when possible, that's all;)

Wow and I thought I was bad because I make sure to never buy the greatest hits versions of games.

A lot of games I have sealed are shrinkwrapped and they were ones I got from Amazon so I doubt they were resealed.

Thanks for the explanation. It's a bit on the obsessive side, but at least I can understand your reasoning because I greatly prefer to be the only person to have owned a game. I like thinking "I'm the only person who has ever touched the contents of this game outside of the factory." Kinda like uncirculated coins (some of mine have never been touched by human hands). I'm not nearly as committed to it as you are, though. If a game is rare or significantly cheaper, I'll easily give in and buy a used copy without giving it much thought (as long as it's complete).

I certainly don't think this is as bad as folks who pull out their hair if one of their game cases is a different size or color. That one completely baffles me. Like the red PS3 cases...people around here seem to hate those cases, but I think they look cooler and they add a bit of variety to my collection. But I do understand the aversion to Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits because they plaster the big logo all over the game's insert. But now I'm getting a bit off-topic...

Oh, and no, I don't know of a place where you can get a Y-fold copy of the game, but I can keep an eye out for one whenever I go shopping (I'll probably be at TRU tomorrow).

All PSP games:

Prince of Persia: Rival Swords (favorites version) : $9.98
Prince of Persia: Revelations (favorites version) :$9.98
Tomb Raider Anniversary (w/ favorites sticker on top) :$9.98
Sid Meier's Pirates! (w/ favorites sticker on top) : $9.98
Brother's in Arm D-day : $9.98

Our TRU don't even have any PSP games in a glass showcase any more. I literally stacked all PSP games on the floor and carried them to the price scanner(?).
