The best version of Justice League New Frontiers this week?

E-Z-B

CAGiversary!
Anyone know anything about the Wal-Mart exclusive for Justice League New Frontiers coming out this week? I know BB has a free figure, CC has a Green Lantern patch, and Target has some "digital download" (not sure what that means). I don't get a Wal-Mart ad, and can't find the ad on their homepage, but the product description for this doesn't give any details about the exclusive. If it's lame, then I'll get the BB one.
Personally, I disagree. I thought the Ultimate Avengers animated movie was okay (not good mind you, just okay), but I hated the Ultimates comic. To me, it's some of the most overhyped comics this side of Grant Morrison's pretentious crap. I cringe every time I see the so-called Captain America in Ultimates. The Cap I know isn't a brutal S.O.B.
But it had my favorite splash page ever.
I also grabbed the blu-ray from Amazon. Word on the street is that Kingdom Come may be in the pipeline for a direct to DVD movie after The Batman movie, which I think is next.

As far as Marvel goes, I thought Doctor Strange was actually well done. I don;t really like the character, but the movie was rather engrossing. Both Ultimate Avengers movies were ok and Iron Man was a bit of a bore. On a side note, the Amazing Screw-On Head is, well amazing. Check it out. It's only 1/2 hour or so, but you'll want to watch it more than once.
Agreed on Screw-On Head being amazing. Captured Mike Mignola's style beautifully and the Hellboy animated movies weren't bad either.

Though if Kingdom Come is done next, I only hope they do every big DC arc or mini in animated style (Crisis and Sinestro Corps would easily make me soil my pants repeatedly).

I'd kill for a Dark Knight Returns movie. There was an episode of batman the animated series where they had kids telling stories about batman, they used Dark Knight Returns for one of the stories and it was great. If they could do a full movie like that, I'd buy it in a heart beat.

I think that ep was legends of the dark knight.

Indeed. And if I remember correctly, the girl who told the story was named Carrie, and she placed herself into the story as Robin...thus Carrie Kelley.

For those interested, there is a short video up on the XBLMP about Superman and his role in New Frontier. I have seen similar shorts about Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. This video might be old, but for anyone who missed it, like me, there you go.

Since someone mentioned Kingdom Come, the next DC animated film will be Teen Titans The Judas Contract.

Which is be a different telling than the one from the Teen Titans animated series.

Kingdom Come movie is not in the pipeline. EVER.

Teen Titans is coming for sure. I hope The Flash and Donna Troy are in it.
Not for nothing, but that's kind of a silly statement to make. How would you know? How would anyone know?
No statement was ever made by anyone at DC stating that it was a possibility. Thats why. No use in speculating.
No statement was ever made by anyone at DC stating that it was a possibility. Thats why. No use in speculating.
Well, that makes a little more sense. There's a difference between "not in the pipeline" and "not ever being made." Of course, just because there isn't any solid information about something doesn't mean it isn't a possibility. Companies do not release information about "possibilities." They release information about things they actually plan on doing. I'm sure more than one person who actually works within the Warner structure has kicked around the idea.

In the end, though, if people didn't speculate things, that would diminish a lot of what is actually discussed on the internet.

Damn that interweb! I should have been clear in my first post.

I remember being at a Con a year or two ago and Alex Ross mentioned something along the lines of "It would not translate well to a movie because the art cannot be replicated." Which would make perfect sense, because the art is so fucking epic.

I should correct myself. There is a Batman animated prequel which was greenlit to be produced as a part of The Dark Knight production. I dont think it is using the same animation studio as the other three films.
I liked the Ultimates Cap simply because he fought in World War II (and it shows) and when in a war I have to believe he killed a few nazis and I could never imagine normal 616 Universe Cap killing anyone. Not trying to change your mind or anything, just my own personal reasoning.
Yeah, I respect your opinion (and I appreciate the calm, civilized, rational response that many fellow comics fans wouldn't have given me on this topic too). I've heard that reasoning on it before, and it makes sense. But after reading the real Cap my whole life, I just don't feel this one. To me, there are enough brutal, sadistic comic characters around already without having to turn good old Cap into one. I just never cared for the book as a whole either. The only Ultimate title I've really liked was Spidey. To each his own, I guess.

I forgot about that. I wonder if they will keep Terra as a smoker who has sex with Deathstroke?

I'm just kinda sorry now youre stuck between Ultimates Cap (in the whole terrible Ultimates 3 crap of a comic) and shoot them in the knee-caps Cap (though I have to say I already love Bucky as Cap more then Ultimates).

Amazing Screw-On Head is the best animated title that most people haven't heard of. I'm so disappointed that more episodes aren't in the work, and that no one else has picked this title up. Sci-Fi really dropped the ball, again. The Hellboy animated flicks were extremely well done as well. Very enjoyable and almost capture the comics to a T. Hopefully they make more. I know I bought both.

Decided to stay up and rent the movie off of the Marketplace. Wow! Unlike Superman/Doomsday, I actually see myself returning to this one again and again.

Has anyone tried to get the GL figure at Best Buy with the Blu-ray version? I know the ad says with the two-disk set, but I'm hoping they'll let me have it with the purchase of the Blu-ray (which I can match with Target.com for $20.95).

My Best Buy still had 3 of them when I went. It's packaged in a sealed window-box with the 2-disk set, so there's no way to get it with any other DVD. It's much smaller than I expected.

As for Circuit City's patch, it's only in specially-marked single-disk DVD's. I skipped on this one since I couldn't see the patch in person.

My Best Buy had abunch with the tiny GL figure. I was able to snag one for me and my friend and were going to do a Justice League get together tonight (man, that sounds so damn nerdy).

It's not nerdy, it's geeky. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

i went about noon to the bestbuy in garner nc and they had atleast 50 of the special editions with the figures, comes in a plastic shell around the dvd and figure so they cant seperate them, thing is small as hell, had it in my hands and decided to wait for the bluray to get to the gamestop across the street or under 20 to buy it, got 30 days of night instead
No loss, really. The figure blows:
Reminds me of Syndrome from The Incredibles for some reason.

Saw plenty of the figure packed in 2 disc special editions for JL:NF at the Best Buy in Culver City, along with all the Justice League, Superman seasons etc. that Best Buy had hoarded and stockpiled in the back room for today (they didn't have any available Sunday).

The figure does indeed come packaged directly with the 2 disc SE only, sort of like the plastic cover for the Target Special Transforming Optimus Transfomers DVD, maybe you can take a figure out and try to purchase it with the Blu Ray version or single disc version, but really that Green Lantern figure was a massive piece of shit and SO not worth it. But yeah it totally looks like the retarded kid from the Incredibles because of the big jaw.

I ended up just ordering some of the Justice League Seasons (amazon had everything pricematched to Circuit City/Best Buy already, best part is no shipping and no tax - got JLU S1 for $21, and JLU S2 for $15, and Challenge of the Superfriends S1 - the one with the Legion of Doom and the only good set since it has no Wonder Twins or dorky kids 'n Scooby knockoff - for $15), and New Frontier on Blu Ray off of amazon for $20.95, sweet price. I can wait to watch it.

At Best Buy today I just got a price adjustment on the Unrated Director's Cut of Beowulf to Circuit City's Price - another 10% of difference (you can also use Fry's price if you have the ad) for $13.40 plus tax, and used the Best Buy $5 off any Blu Ray coupon on 30 Days of Night to get it for $25. NOTE: the coupon states it is valid from 3/1/08 until 3/31/08 so YMMV on this one. But I could just predict that there wouldn't be a single copy of 30 Days of Night on BRD on Saturday when the coupon would be officially valid. The girl didn't even check the date or try to scan my copy of the coupon, she just hit some code that took $5 off and said "MFG COUPON" on the screen. Makes sense as it is a Manufacturer's Coupon.

I was seriously considering pushing the deals even further by complaining about the Best Buy online price of $26.99 for 30 Days of Night Blu Ray, but figure they would probably give me either the coupon or the $26.99 pricematch so I just stuck with the coupon.

I'm still debating what version of the movie to get. Maybe since I just got a $50 HD-DVD for my Xbox 360, I might just get the HD-DVD version. Hmmmm...
I got the Special Edition from Wal-Mart.
What was included with the wal-mart edition? How much was it?

Just got done watching it and I have to say I easily enjoyed it alot compared to other DC to DVD fare. For 70 minutes I gotta say they sure cram alot in. Though would've been better if it was several minutes longer and had more Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman in (ESPECIALLY Aquaman). Though still damn fun movie to watch and easily darker compared to other Marvel and DC superhero fare animated wise (well, maybe except for the obvious of Mask of the Phantasm).
I never thought in my lifetime that I'd see people clamoring for more Aquaman.
Exactly.

Anyway, are there any pics of the patch yet? I didn't make it out, but I'm leaning towards getting the one with the patch.

Aquaman's appearance just felt stupidly forced is the reason why...

As in they kinda remembered last second they need him so they forced him to appear and I feel they could've done better. Same with Hourman.

LOL...yeah...it feels like Aquaman just showed up late for a great party. Also, wasn't Hourman killed before the events of New Frontier? I remember Superman saying someone from the JSA was dead, and I thought it was Hourman.

I bought the Blu-ray version from Walmart for $24.99 (couldn't wait a week for Amazon eventhough they have it at $21). This is the first animated Blu-ray I've purchased and I have to say it looks great...the colors just pop out. Great movie too but be warned that this movie is not for younger children. My son is 3 and wanted to watch the movie, but after I watched it once I knew that wasn't going to happen. Headshots, blood splattering, and cursing. However, there are three Justice League TV episodes available so he got to watch those.
What was included with the wal-mart edition? How much was it?
It was $19.87 when I got it yesterday.

From R.J. Rey on Amazon. All credit to him.

The DVD includes the revealing "Super Heroes United", "The Legion of Doom" and "Comic Book Commentary" documentaries, two in-depth audio commentaries with filmmakers and comic book writer Darwyn Cooke, three bonus "Justice League Unlimited" episodes (The Dark Heart, Task Force X & To Another Shore), trailers and an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming "Batman - Gotham Knight".

Yeah, it was Hourman who died. Though in the comic it explains basically how the JSA were basically being arrested and he was the only casualty and why the heroes basically all went into hiding soon after.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification. I'll have to get the graphic novel next time I make an order from Amazon.

I'm not much of a videophile, but for what it is worth, I think the Blu-ray looks great. As the other poster said, it's like the colors just pop. Glad I spent the extra few dollars for better quality. And just to confirm an earlier question, yes, the the Blu-ray version has the same content as the SE DVD.

Nice! I can wait the few days it will take amazon to get it to me, especially at their awesome price.
