I thought I didn't have class today; but I go through the OTT and get taught about life and I didn't even have to ask. That's amazing. Who said that you can't learn anything on these things.

I'm so fucking bored at work it's not even funny. I hope they let me out early today there isn't anything to do and I'm going out of town on Wednesday until the 16th.

I figure its a place to ramble while waiting for a good deal to come. Also, it helps keeps TOO much crap from getting into regular threads. I also find it to be a nice place to vent and say things i wouldnt in real life or in other threads like

"Your a god damn douche bag that has posted about 5 things that have NOT pissed me off/irritated me. It doesnt help that your avater is for a character who has a stick firmly placed in his ass, thus giving me all the reasons i need to know your a douche."

Things like that.

We were putting too much of a burden on the old server having 2000+ post topics. So Cheapy said "Keep it to around 500" and we did. It also makes it easier to make themed OTT's like the retards we are;)

Why on earth would you miss Oregon when you're in Japan? :whistle2:k

I'm not getting out of my homestate for college...there's no way I could have afforded it. I'm an hour away and in another world entirely (city as opposed to boring suburbs), though, so hopefully that's going to be change enough.

Back in the long, long ago, threads longer than 500 posts created an undue strain upon the servers that CAG runs on. Thus, CheapyD and Defender implemented a 500 post limit to the OTTs and limited them too only one at a time.

It was actually a fairly elegant solution to the problem, and had almost no lasting effect on the userbase.

There's server strain, though it's for other reasons besides that one.

No reason to get rid of the old reason, it still make sense. I think it was something on phpBB that made big posts go funny.

Yes, it's rather akin to a release valve, allowing for a safe place for built-up pressure to escape and do little harm to the system as possible.

Bit odd, really - Dell told me it'd ship on August 11th - but now I get to go through and begin the process of getting it set up just as it should be.

First step: uninstall the crap I don't need, like the Earthlink trial.
Second step: install Firefox. :)
