Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Guitar Hero On Tour
Have I got a story for all of you! I'm freaking special if you ask me.
Special is finding money on the ground, not being able to trade at BlockBuster is a curse.
Special is finding money on the ground, not being able to trade at BlockBuster is a curse.
I actually think I can still trade in at other blockbusters. Just not this one. I haven't tried others yet. Going to go tomorrow.
Seriously though...
New Official Xbox Magazine has a mention in their "Inbox" news section about Blockbuster beefing up their video game presence. Stocking game hardware and new release software. Hopefully this will lead to more sales and trades from regular customers, to take the spotlight off the flippers.
I mentioned this a while ago, but I've now talked to two BB managers who have used the same phrase that they obviously got from a communication or meeting stating that due to decreasing retail rental revenues they were moving their retail locations to be "like a mini FYE or Best Buy" and that in addition to increasing their game selection they would slowly be rolling out music as well.

Because CDs are the wave of the future I guess.

I found another game that can be flipped from GS to BB.
Fatal Inertia is $24.99 at GS ($19.99 after EDGE and 10% off coupon) to $32 at BB.
Its not too great but it is better than Viking and Condemned 2.

golden compass 360- $6
fatal inertia 360- $32
madden nfl 08 ps3- $13

everyone pick up fatal inertia from amazon now before it dies

BB is also trying to buy Circuit City, which will also factor into this whole retail shift.

Nice find on fatal inertia guys! The amazon flip isnt bad but youll have to hope it doesnt drop.

If you can find a used one its almost as good and if you have BB---> GS credit you can do it for no money out of your pocket.

On a quick sidenote... two part question... that Gamestop 10% off used games coupon...anyone have a link to it I cant seem to find it anymore. And secondly I got a 10% off used games coupon in my email....can I reuse it or is it a one time use only thing?

Thanks

that's the link to the GS 10% off used games coupon..
I mentioned this a while ago.
My point was that it was mentioned in a prominent game magazine, not that it was 'new' information. Maybe some drones that only shop at Gamestop will realize there are other options if they read it.
woah too bad we didn't have a 25 or 30 percent off coupon for 360 this wk!
Yeah but $20--->$32 for free isnt bad either ;)

. Seriously, but if this means iPods and the like being sold there (note: pure speculation on my part based on no real info whatsoever) then I'll wish I hadn't transfered over so much credit from BB to GS. Actually, after this last stack that I have to trade today, I think I'll stop anyway as I really now have too much GS credit. Yeah, I said it - "too much". I'll post some totals when I'm all done.

But I'm getting ahead of myself - first they need to sell things like DS's...

Full Auto and Burning Earth for 360 is also cheap on amazon about, 12 bucks. Doubt those are worth anything though.

I cannot wait until more Blockbusters convert to mini-electronic stores....I can use my $360+ credit for something better. We'll see though...it basically supports my gaming habit and my wife is ok with that.

It would make more sense to just sell CC gift cards. BB stores have a limited amount of space and I doubt some person will buy a $250 camera on a whim when they're choosing their rental.

It also deters would-be thieves.

When the news came out that Blockbuster might purchase CC, my initial thoughts were, "I wonder if you could somehow convert credit from Blockbuster to Circuit city?"

lol. Trade in games for enough credit to buy a 50 inch plasma. :D
And just to summarize a couple of current clearance game prices:

:360:
NCAA 08 Football ($5 at Target if you can get them to take the coupon)
$12 at BB, $10.50 at GS
Far Cry Instinct ($5 at TRU)
$8 at BB (Wiki quote from May 18th), $10.50 at GS

:ps3:
Genji ($5 at Sears)
$13 at BB (phone quote 6/27), $10.50 at GS
MLB 07 ($5 at Kmart and Sears)
$13 at BB, $10.50 at GS
Virtua Tennis 3 ($5 at Kmart and Sears)
$13 at BB (phone quote 6/27), $13.80 at GS

:wii:
Fantastic Four RSS ($5 at TRU)
$30 !? at BB (phone quote 6/27), $10.50 at GS
Super Monkey Ball ($5 at TRU - I'm keeping the one I found)
?? at BB (but I suspect $7 or so), $11.60 at GS

Nothing spectacular, but I wanted to figure it all out in case I run into more copies.
Called in for a few of these, so I updated the prices above. I may have found a gem there if the phone quote was accurate (I'll find out shortly when I take it in, but won't be back to the computer for a while afterwards).

The quotes for Genji and VT3 seem good, so if FF:RSS is really $30 (gotten from the same person), then, wow... If anyone else can call and confirm that right now I would really appreciate it. I need to head out with all the kids and do some trading then see a movie - too busy to do any more checking.

Just called lol confirmed wii F4 RSS $30 but I think cost on used at GS is $14.xx (coupon + edge)

more driving tonight...(none at my TRU)

wii Super Monkey Ball $9
Just called lol confirmed wii F4 RSS $30

Much appreciated! I'm going now to get rid of that ASAP before they change their minds ;). Then I was going to another TRU anyway afterwards and will check for more. I only found 1 at the other TRU on Weds. I almost didn't buy it because it is just a $10.50 trade at GS and I'm starting to get more selective since I have so much credit. But I can do $5->$30 all day long!

I have a list similar to IO at the gamestop thread. I called and Super Monkey Ball for the wii is $9. If it were $30 i would hit the jackpot as that would be the best flip in recent memory. Ill pass on the fatal inertia flip. EDIT: FANTASTIC 4 RSS IS $30!!!!!!!!! Im cleanin house at TRU tonight

Yeah, $30 is the TIV on Fantastic Four here in OH. Wow, BBV you really just made my weekend.

[EDIT]
But no Fantastic Four in stock at any TRU near me. DAMMIT!!!

A BBV employee I know said today that a "Buy one get one is coming in a couple weeks, like on the week of fourth of july."

:whee::whee::whee::whee::whee::whee::whee::whee: :whee: :whee::whee::whee::whee::whee::whee::whee:

He also said that he has some games stashed away for himself in the back for when the deal happens. I didn't want to make a whole new post, so I don't get my head bit off if he's wrong. The $10 extra deal should be over at GS anyway, so this might not help people flipping but just keep it in mind if BBV has 2 games u want.

It's a GR store and I don't know if it's franchise or corporate.

Ok so did some flipping today..wish I saw this thread before I left earlier I wold have stopped by TRU...maybe ill go there tonight but im sure they are all gone by now.

I also found out the manager at my main store told me I AM allowed 2 copies of a title EACH day if I want. So I dont think Ill have to go to other BBs to trade much in anymore. She was also very happy when I preordered Madden09 so that helps.

I found a copy of Fatal Inertia at GS got it for $21.29 after coupon and EDGE, traded for $32. Not bad. Considering I didnt spend any money out of pocket.

I also traded in all the games I had backed up from not being able to go out and flip for a few days.

Right now I have spent $134.20 out of pocket cash. And have gotten a total of $680.50 in credit between GS and BBV. I have spent credit from each flipping back and forth but basically I have bought MGS4+ DS3 controller to keep. And currently have $262.45 in credit at BBV and $41.30 in credit at GS.

I love this site. :D

Hopefully I can turn 10-20 bucks into $100+ from TRU. :D
Yup this 6x ratio for fantasitc 4 RSS is crazy i already have 4 of them and my toysrus still have them in stock. Good luck all.
Man that must be nice. I can only hope mine has some :(

I picked up 3 copies of FF: RotSS at TRU to trade at GS. Good thing I decided to call BB to check TIV first. I called a 2nd BB to confirm the $30 TIV. I would have been pissed off if I had traded FF to GS and then read Io's post.

Also, picked up 3 copies of SMB and Far Cry but they will still be going to GS. Now I need to pick up another game so I can get the $10 bonus at GS.

I just got the last copy at my local TRU and then traded it at the GS for the price of 10.50. Worse part was that I checked right before I left.

fuck fucking fuck

To top it all off I also made a run to BB during that same trip to trade in my MLB Show '07s fuck fuck fuck

I can also confirm the Fantastic 4: RSS Wii for 30 TIV @ BBV, I almost felt bad doing it but oh well. Is the B1G1 deals at BBV only used?

might be a little too much trouble for some and would only work out well if this b1g1 happens, but we could essentially do multiple preorders for ncaa 09 across different GS to get the extra $15 coupon. then wait for the b1g1, hopefully july 4 weekend, and end up converting $10 bbv credit into $35 gs credit.

what system is that TIV for FF:RotSS for?i stopped by two BBVs...FF:RotSS is $19.99 used for the ps3 and $9.99 used for the 360...i asked an employee its TIV...he said its $13.00 for the ps3...

on another note:
:360: COD 4 - $35
Nintendo Wii.
thanx a lot man...i saw a couple used copies at a gamestop near me...mite pick some up...
thanx a lot man...i saw a couple used copies at a gamestop near me...mite pick some up...
Gheorghe Muresan sure is an ugly bastard...

Yea $17 after Edge card to $32 or30 for yall with no tax credit aint a bad flip if you can't find any on the cheap at TRU. Most everyone who reads this thread already has credit at both stores anyway..

I'm gonna head out in the morning in search of a few things to flip to GR using my GR and then move that credit back to GS using the cheapy games and bonus. Haha tis the cycle of life. :D

Also be on the lookout at GS for the $15 trade bonus coupons supposedly you get um for preording NCAA 09 or at least we the only ones who have gotten calls about them so far.

wait, how much is FF:ROTSS supposed to be at TRU? Man if it trades in that much for Wii might as well grab it 2 on GS.com copies for:

$36 with free shipping - $9 with edge card and 16% off dicount - paying only 27 and flipping to BBV for 60 for both ain't bad at all. Only problem is if the TIV's will still hold till next wk?
wait, how much is FF:ROTSS supposed to be at TRU?
$5 on clearance and there is a 20% off clearance going on now... :D

Figures...zero copies of FFROSS at my TRU and only one within 25 miles of me. Crappy.

I guess I could do some flipping of that with my GS credit etc.... its a solid 10-13 bucks per flip and its free money since it would be nothing out of pocket.

Im REALLY interested in this $15 extra thing for ncaa09... although I have already emptied out my BBs for good trade fodder for the previous $10 GS promo...grrrr.

I got a bad feeling about the Fantastic 4 (wii). If the ps3 version really does get you alot less then im thinking the TIV on that one may drop tuesday. Bought 2 copies today and was thinking of going amazon but theres no way they would be here by Tues. Before you guys rush out and buy online for this one Id wait till Tues to see if it drops. But yeah flipped 2 for $60. Paid ~$30 at GS after edge+coupon.

Well Amazon has a high price on it so no reason to order from them. Only place would be GS online. Ill probably go and pick up a couple of copies used from my local GSs since I have pretty much depleted them of SST, Sonic Riders, Strangleholds and anything else that has been good recently lol.

So... I'm on day 5(or is it 6?) of the quest to be able to trade. The manager can't figure out why this is happening to my account and my account only. Corporate has no idea either.

Anyone have this happen to them yet?

Fatal Intertia (360) is down to $13.22 on Amazon. $13.22 -> $32 is awesome. Ppl may hate me, but i'm in for 15. According to the "stock checker", theres only 2 left now. Better buy them quick!

I flipped a bunch of games back and forth from GS to BB and vice versa. I'm trying to move as much credit to Gamestop as I can before the end of the $10 bonus deal on Sunday. I'm getting tired of the stress of worrying if i'll get a refurbish charge because BB likes to sell the shittiest looking rental copies sometimes.

*edit*

To counter-balance my taking, heres a little giving:

If you cant find FF (Wii) at TRU, Gamestop sells it used for $14.40 after edge & 10% coupon). New price is $20 (which is still good if you're just moving credit back and forth from GS & BB)

You ordered that many even though you wont get them before doomsday tuesday? Ballsy lol. I might grab one since there are a couple of used ones around me that I can pick up for nothing out of pocket.

EDIT: Check that... Fatal Inertia is done on Amazon. Someone bought them all...ahem....

As an alternative to Amazon, my BB has then on clearance for 20$, so an easy 10$. I can also confirm Wii FF RSS @ 30$, nice quick profit.

Lol...thats been mentioned a few times already. I just thought it was funny that you report a price drop on FI and buy them all out (for the most part). Why even post about the drop that you just wiped out the stock on? Heh.

Its all good though. Such is the life of a flipper ;)
