Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

After hitting up 4 of my local BBV's with their meager selection, I was able to turn $50 BBV credit into $220 BBV.

Hit the 5th and final "local" bbv today and scored another 8 games (including a WWE 2008 in a WWE 2007 case). I also grabbed Mario Power Tennis and Mario Superstars Baseball for the 'Cube (these last 2 being flipped to ebay unless someone here wants them)
actually ive done so many trades to gamestop with clear cases and black cases they dont care never said a word to me and ive traded a ton of them
I've traded several hundred and have had refurbish fees on like 8. They were all in Blockbuster cases. That wasn't the issue though. I looked at all of them and they were all pretty crappy. So much so, that if I were to want to play them, I never would have bought them.

I think the Blockbuster rentals converted to sales are just far more inclined to be scratched up because of their history.

7/15 TIV - Fatal Inertia = $32

Long time lurker, first time poster on this thread. A big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. A modest amount of flipping has resulted in the acquisition of a nearly free back log of AAA games.
Wow @ the dude with an EIGHT MEGABYTE GIF in his sig...
would that be my sig?

i found a PES08...i'm about to trade it in...i'll post the BBV TIV when i get back...
Since that place had quite a bit of people I didn't want to raise a storm over $1.20. In the end I'm down $3.20 because of that gay employee. I looked on the shelves of that GS to see if I could find any games. Specifically Rock Band. I looked it up online and they should have had a copy of it. Couldn't find it... I went to the EBGames at the same mall and no good games to trade yet again.
Can you use the coupon at EBGames? I know the EDGE card has their name on it, but the coupon just says Gamestop. I figured if I went up to the store manager or something they'd give me crap about it, but if it works there too then bonus!

I found a Blockbuster tucked away near my work that is virtually untouched. I think Saturday I will make my final run there and my final trade-ins to GS on the way home. I still have one more BBV to check out, but I'm so excited about this one I'll wait until tomorrow. Plus, I need to transfer a couple hundred back over to Blockbuster to make my final runs this week. I'll be sad to see these deals end, but at least I'll get a chance to play some of the 50+ games I got for myself.

Oh yeah, I have a disc only Pikmin 2 non-PC (kind of scratched) and a great-complete Mario Tennis (maybe it was Baseball...).

PM me offers.
We've known price changes occur on sundays for a loooooooong time, bucko.
the last posts I read about it (in the last day) still left some question, but clearly it bothered you that I mentioned it again, bucko (Richie Cunningham?) so I apologize.

Guess that's what I get for trying to add to the thread.

Do discs somehow say games are PC or not? I thought it was just the cover...

Good find on the Mario Tennis. I found one up here in about 6-7 stores. None of the other ones had anything decent of note for the GC. I also got a WWE 08 in a WWE 07 case - it was the GS guy who caught it for me and promptly gave me the higher credit for it (and just told me to keep the case ).

Several hundred games? Wow, man... Well, I've been pretty selective on my BBV purchases. I'm fairly sure 95% of them have been converted rentals. But sometimes that means they are mint since no one ever rented them (like some of those 6 or 7 copies of Spiderman 3 that every store had). Yeah, some of the others are beat to hell, but I only bought ones I would play myself. This has kept me from getting a single refurb fee to this point. Then again, I seem to have a better selection than most people here. I mean, at one store last week I passed up several discs yet still hauled out 16 games and left many others I didn't even look at.
and a great-complete Mario Tennis (maybe it was Baseball...).
Big difference there buddy ;). Though I made a quick glance on eBay the other day and Mario Tennis doesn't seem to be getting the premium it once did. I just know that Mario Baseball was still pretty easy to find new just recently (and was in fact on clearance and available at Kmart just before Christmas) while Mario Tennis is impossible to find new. My BBV Mario Tennis is pretty badly scuffed up. I have yet to test it out - if it plays on both my GC and Wii I guess I'll sell it. It will be the only thing from this entire flipping venture that I'm actually selling to get any of the original money back. Yeah, I probably should be doing the Wiis and MGS bundles like everyone else but that just seems like such a hassle. Instead I'll just use all this GS credit to get everything I want for the next 5 years or so ;).

You have no idea. Even selling for 525 on Craigslist all I've gotten are scammers for a week - and eBay has done no good either (yet). It also doesn't help that the MGS4 Limited Edition game I bought was the store rental copy and wasn't sealed - so that's not making matters any better either.

We've known for a long time that *prices* change on Sundays and that trade-in values change on Tuesdays. But, this past Sunday that seemed to have changed, in that some trade-in values dropped the same day as price changes. Regardless, thank for the info.

Call of Duty 2 got me $7.20 at GS, not $6.65 as listed in post #2. However, it was the 'special editon' platinum hits version, so maybe that's why. All these games still held in value with what's listed in post #2 at GS today around noon:

Spiderman 3
Table Tennis
Bullet Witch
King Kong
Flatout

no shame in that...i'm doing that too...upcoming games that i'm getting no matter what are: NBA 2k9, Midnight Club LA, Gears of War 2, nba street 5

then, depending on reviews, possibly: Tom clancy's End War, saints row 2, fallout 3, call of duty 5, nfs: undercover, red faction, splinter cell, halo wars, street fighter 4, fight night round 4

and that's just 360 games! i also have a DS :p

i'm just not really interested in a ps3, wii, or ps3 at the moment...i'd rather spend the credit on the games i'll be playing

Not really BB\GR related: Popped into 2 Gamestops in my area and they both still had their Gamedays bins out. I imagine, as was the case with me, that if a new copy of a Gamedays game is indicated as available at a particular store on the website, then that store hasn't "un-clearanced" their inventory yet. The game I got, however was in a loosely shrink-wrapped bag (and might not have been the box I brought to the counter, which wasn't shrinkwrapped at all.) As it was the first and only Gamedays game I purchased, I'm not sure if that would indicate that they were in the process of converting it to used.

some places are slow in converting to used, you can get them to overide the price it it rings up used at the higher price

wow your a dick and obviously haven't been following this thread closely b/c it seems trade in values changed on Sunday for BBV. But you are probably so smart you don't need to worry about such things. Simple people like us need such information though thanks for the info melokeith
Fantastic 4 dropped to $9.40 after Edge + Coupons at Gamestop.
Wait, you mean purchase price? That's kind of freaky because that is the exact trade-in value for the 360 FF:RoSS at GS with Edge + $10 promo. I was about to say it hadn't changed in that case - but I'm guessing you must mean used copies of Wii FF:RoSS for purchase at GS (though, wait, there's no coupon for used Wii games - I'm confused, maybe you did mean trade-in value for the 360 version?)...

so all this talk about mario power tennis has made me wonder if anyone has an extra copy they could trade to me...for maybe...Mario Baseball? or Mario Toadstool tour? PLEASSEEE? the one I got ended up having NO disc in it :(

got to love target, blockbuster and goozex..

picked up artic tale? for the wii off target for 7.50..... Blockbuster gave 15 bucks forit ...

Picked up

harvest moon PSP and Star wars something Psp for 15 bucks ......

took both of them to goozex and got 800 pts matched

Got
LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Ds
Nintendogs: Chihuahua & Friends
Paws & Claws: Pet Vet
Spyro: Shadow Legacy
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land

and still have 100 pts left

That will be 6 nice Ds games for total of 7.50 out of pocket....

That breaks it down to 1.25 per game.... I probally could easy get at least 30 to 40 out of these on ebay.

also dumped xenosaga 3 for 450 pts and picked up Solitaire Overload (what grabs 20+ on ebay easy)

Total i picked up 10 games for around 70 bucks off BLockbuster and so far dumped 5 games for 2000 pts ...

i can grab 10 --- 200 pt games so once the other 5 sell that will be 10 games for around 4000 pts

or about 20 games for around 40 bucks out of pocket (2 bucks per game)
so all this talk about mario power tennis has made me wonder if anyone has an extra copy they could trade to me...(
No, it hasn't. This is the first day they have done the TIV changes on Sunday. It was always done on Tuesdays before this.

posting for the first time... thanks again to the OP and everyone else for all the info.

BBV TIV on World Championship Poker: All-In is holding at 12.00
What does RSV2 atand for? Also is their an updated PS3 list on Rock band, K and L, History Channel, etc?
Rainbox Six Vegas 2... K and L has been covered on the last few pages... ther other ones, call up your local BBV, they'll give you the trade-in values

wow, all the Bb sin my area are dead....DEAD I tell ya! I could only find 6 games today that were flippable. They weren;t bad ones though, Spiderman fof, and a few ok $15 games. I got $273 (+ $35 reserves) GS and now $9 at BB, I dont know what to do with. I guess I'm now done for good with this flip via b1g1 games. I'll just lay low until the next big thing.
No, it hasn't. This is the first day they have done the TIV changes on Sunday. It was always done on Tuesdays before this.
With his attitude you think he'd at least be right with what he's being a dick about, apparently he's just that much smarter than us all. Someone is nice enough to give their latest TIV's and he's being a dick about it

not yet, it just seems like there's better flips still left. Turning point, eoj, ect...

but lat week I did ask a BB manager, she looked it up $30

Stopped by BB today picked up a movie and dumped some games.

PS3 TIV:
Rock Band - 33
Pro Evo Soccer 08 - 30

Store has had a couple more games that i'll grab before the b1g1 ends but ended up getting a Wii fit tonight instead so I'll have to make some more runs to get the credit back up.
How rare is Shenmue 2? I saw it at a BB in Annapolis...cd only.
Shenmue 2 can be bought from GS for $5.99 before edge. I picked up a mint/complete copy during the last Xbox deal they ran.

Katamari Damacy was just $10 new at GS during the gamedays sale, so it's not rare.

Forgot to mention the following TIV for today:
The Orange Box (PS3) - $16.

Does anyone know the latest TIV for Heavenly Sword?

Thanks.

I dumped another Unreal & Lynch today so I can confirm their $30 TIV. It seems my account is back in good standing. I'm just a little pissed that because of this drama I miscalculated my totals and will end up having to buy Gears completely out of pocket. Ugh. One of the clerks saw the credit total on the card I gave him and asked me if I traded a lot. I was so glad I didn't have to lie anymore I simply told him I did and that was that.

Ah well. I've still got enough for my bundle which was the original goal of this entire endeavor plus I'm not banned AND still have enough for Bioshock + 60 360. All and all for once out of this entire journey I am completely content.

You guys are altered fucking beasts. Much love.

I've been thinking of picking up either Oblivion or Oblivion GotY edition. I've never played an Elder Scrolls game, are either worth it? Also went to a previously wrecked BB and found 10 more (new) games to flip :)

I couldn't resist the call any longer. I did a little flipping while in Pittsburgh over the weekend and finally got my money's worth out of my TomTom. I hit about 8 stores, 4 GS and 4 BBV and by the time I got back home, I just breached the $300 BBV mark, which was fine for me. Another local flip and I was almost at $350.

I only did a few games here and there, left plenty for the PGH natives. Then my fatal flaw; I can't save money/credit for anything, so I broke down and got a new Falcon/HDMI 360 Pro. Now to just sell the other one... (which works perfectly fine, just no HDMI or new chipset).

And this was a ZERO cash flip fest. The only investment I put in were 6 crappy 360 titles to GS, just to get the ball rolling.
snip.
Posts like these aren't helping me quit damnit. I only need to flip one more time so I'll only have to pay about $8 out of pocket for Gears, but I honestly feel like my luck should have ran out with the $15 bonus coupon and I can't afford any out of pocket for PS3 games.

...

Ah fuck it. If I get a chance tomorrow and can find four more choice games to flip it's on. Just one more time. ...I really have to stop saying that and start sticking to it. >_>'

Thanks to everyone I think I am done for the time being and in under four days I turned an initial investment into over $1000 in GS credit, $60 in BB credit and over 25 games added to my personal collection.

MY Blockbusters are just about cleaned out....

Also, at my one Blockbuster ALL the used 360 games are in Blockbuster cases (the locking ones). I guess I can use them to flip only, but I would not keep them for myself.

What can GS do about trading in?

It seems like I've got a junior detective on my case from my local GS. Basically, I go into return some PS3 stuff which I bought without the coupon, so that I could rebuy them again using the coupon.

He starts checking out my receipt which shows my Spiderman 3 and Friend or Foe's which I traded into a different GS to get an extra $15. He makes some comment on how I got +$7.50 instead of $5 bonus. I just play stupid.

Then, as I'm leaving, he says "I know what you're doing buddy." I answer "What are you talking about?"

He then answers with "I'll get Bill to talk to you tomorrow." because I had said that I was going to come in tomorrow to use the coupon again since he didn't let me use it twice tonight.

So now I'm sitting here worried about my Gstop credit. What can they do to me?

I just got enough money to buy a MGS4 bundle PS3 too...

a couple TIVs:

PS3 Eoj - $36
PS3 PES 08 - $30
WII Octomania - $23

Octomania is a surprisingly fun game...i tried it out before i flipped it to BBV...there is one more left at a GS near me...so once i'm done with this current flipping activity, i'll pick it up...its $14.99 at GS btw...
