Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Now that the +10 on 'next gen games' is gone this thread is returning to normal, thankfully.

Gonna try the EoJ flip today, hopefully I my closest store has a copy with the camera.

Someone posted that MLB 07 got $13 at BBV. -- Requires confirmation

It's on clearance at TRU for $9.98. Buy 2 and your out of pocket is 11.98.
(Math: Buy 1, Get 1 1/2 off. Then add the 20% clearance bonus on top of that)

Works out to about a 2x flip after taxes.

I traded a copy in last Friday at BBV and received $13 TIV
If you payed with credit, why should they give you cash back?
just noticed that on the receipt now when I was doing massive trades, most says you get store credit back only if you didn't like the game

The back of my receipts say only that return policy varies with franchise and to go to the store for corporate policy. Like I said, I went to a BBV yesterday and the two ladies were adamant that the only thing I could do was exchange a broken copy for another version of the game and if they didn't have one for another of equal value. She said that because I said something other than that they were broken they couldn't take them back. Screw them, I went to another BBV and got it sorted out.

Honestly, I won't do business in that BBV again with those ladies working.

Well, I've taken a couple of days off from flipping. I guess I'll head out and see what I can accomplish with the BBV deal extension and the GS % tier deal.
Just got off the phone...

Blacksite Area 51 - PS3 - Still $33
That's great news as I still have two copies I didn't have time to trade in last week.

Hey IO, I'm curious, why are only the X360 games the ones listed in the second post as your best bet for trade?
Quick question - does Blockbuster take DS games in trade?
Yes. You may get a "we don't because we don't rent/sell them" speech... but non-GR stores should take them as they are in the system. I've never had a problem with it.

Cool, thanks. I'll give them a call before I drive over there.

For a 5% sales tax (like in VA) this list gives you the titles that will net you a gain from BBV to GS (might be change might be a dollar or two.) Going to use it in a few days to turn over my BBV credit to GS credit. This excludes the cyan titles that work with the $15 coupon since that one really is just about dead. And the stories of being blacklisted for using it have increased.

Armored Core 4 $14.99 -> $9.80
Beautiful Katamari: $9.99 -> $8.40
Bullet Witch: $9.99 -> $5.60
Cabela's Alaska $14.99->$8.40
Earth Defense Force: $6.99 -> $7.00
Enchanted Arms $14.99-> $8.40
Fantastic 4 $9.99 -> $5.60
Flatout Ultimate Carnage $9.99 -> $7.00
Golden Compass $9.99 -> $5.60
Juiced 2 $14.99 -> $8.40
Lego Star Wars II $9.99 -> $8.40
Lord of the Rings BfME II $14.99 -> $9.80
Meet The Robinsons: $6.99 -> $5.60
Moto GP 07 $14.99 -> $8.40
Need For Speed Most Wanted $14.99 -> $9.80
Ninety-Nine Nights $14.99 -> $9.80
Overlord $14.99 -> $8.40
Pirates of the Caribbean 3 $9.99 -> $5.60
PSU $9.99 -> $7.00
Shrek The Third $9.99 -> $7.00
Soldier of Fortune $14.99 -> $9.80
Spiderman 3: $9.99 -> $7.00
Spiderman Friend or Foe $12.99 -> $7.00
Star Trek Legacy $14.99 -> $8.40
Test Drive Unlimited $14.99 -> $8.40
Tomb Raider Legend $9.99 -> $5.60
Tony Hawk Proving Ground $14.99 -> $9.80
Top Spin 2: $9.99 -> $5.60
Virtua Tennis 3 $9.99 -> $8.40
WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007 $9.99 -> 5.60

Of course if you pair the lowest TIV of the $14.99s with the cheapest game with lowest TIVs you are still going to lose $1.74. So don't buy these in pairs:

$14.99 -> $8.40
Cabela's Alaska
Enchanted Arms
Juiced 2
Moto GP 07
Overlord
Star Trek Legacy
Test Drive Unlimited

$**.** -> $5.40
Bullet Witch
Fantastic 4
Golden Compass
Meet The Robinsons
Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Tomb Raider Legend
Top Spin 2
WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007
Hey IO, I'm curious, why are only the X360 games the ones listed in the second post as your best bet for trade?
360 games are B1G1 (under $15) at BB (as well as older games)
GS only accepted "next gen" games for the $10 bonus promo
io originally listed the games that worked best for "flipping" from BB to GS via said prom

That list has been updated to show the current GS promo, if you know trade in values for other games, I am sure they can be added to the list (as long as the base trade is $4 or more and they are available at BB as part of the B1G1 promo)

Brenex, a little slower for those of us who have only had one cup of coffee today. Your list shows the straight up TIV's at GS? In other words, do those GS TIV's include either edge or the multiple copy/percentage bonus promo? Thanks buddy!
Hey IO, I'm curious, why are only the X360 games the ones listed in the second post as your best bet for trade?
Well, h2dk covered it but I'm not even sure what you are asking. Only 360 games qualified for B1G1 (out of next gen titles). Except for an odd GC game or two, no one even bothered trying to trade in any last gen stuff. It might be worth checking some of those out now, though.
Anything under $14.99 is, but they raised the prices of the PS3 & Wii games to $16.99 so they don't qualify.
Yea I got it, didn't know the raised the price on the other stuff.

I'm not going to list all 5 games I traded, b/c most were worthless and just thrown in to bring it to 5 games total, but obviously Super Smash Bros. Brawl is good for pairing up with 4 other games to move credit from BB to GS (sells for $45 used, gets $42 after Edge and promo w/ 5 or more games at GS).

Also worth mentioning though, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles for PSP is $9.99 at BB (and hence $5 if part of a B1G1) and has a base trade-in at GS of $10, so assuming you buy it at BB as part of a pair and trade it in to GS with at least 4 other games and Edge, you basically are doing $5 BB -> $14 GS. That was actually the third copy I bought; one for me and one for a buddy, its a good game.

Post your prices in the GS deal thread, though!

Besides the hard to find GC titles (Mario Power Tennis, Mario Parties) I think the best bet for good non-360 titles is probably with PSP stuff like the example you mentioned (Castlevania). BB tends to undervalue those quite a bit. I've seen all the usual suspects for $6.99 (VT3, Star Trek, Brunswick Bowling, a few others). I'm sure some of those get decent trade-in at GS relative to the $3.50 they cost at BB.

OK, I added some non-360 B1G1 games to the second post and updated the GS->BB trades a bit (added DBZ 3 for Wii and changed the "good till" dates for Blacksite and Pro Evo Soccer).

I have to go to the dentist and take my dad to the airport. When I get back I expect y'all to have all the B1G1 PSP games priced out at BB and GS. Get to work!

There are other great flips with the current TRU promotion, assuming the TIVs on these games are still $16 (as they were about 10 days ago) :

PS3 Harry Potter & the order of the Phoenix is $8 at TRU, trades in for $16, so buy two with the current promo for $12, trade 'em in for $32.

PS3 GRAW 2 is $5 at TRU, so buy two for $7.50 and trade 'em for $32. But this one will be harder to find.

As for the guys who wanted to know you can pre-order the Blue PSP Pack @ BBvideos
For $199.99. It shows in the system, my buddy said that 50% chance if your pre-order at BBvides and 90% chance at Gamerush. But he could only find the PSP pack that brings that football game, which i don't care about.

so but the pack and the sell/trade the game, up to you !

And Mine Bbvideos B1G1 Still have worthless PS2 and old ass Xbox for 14.99

:wii: Godfather -> $8 (GS Price)
PS3 Virtua Fighter 5 -> $8 (GS Price)

Ok, I'm off. I gotta file some forms at work for me transfer so on the way back I'll stop by GS and BB. I still have a Harry potter I got for 8.99, it rang up 29.99 I think, but he gave me the sticker price since they still had all the gameday stuff, same thing with the ps3 charge thing.

So, I'll trade that in at BB and that'll give me $30 or so credit to play with. I'm just gonna grab 6-8 ps2/psp games and see what I get at GS. I'll post what I got for them, but I'm just gonna guess on the GS tivs so who knows what I'll get, probably terrible picks by me coming up. But I'll try and find newer psp titles.

with that approach it is almost like scratch off tickets. Good luck

Dumping from BB to GS. Anyone actually going for the 30% with +10% more with edge for 5 games, or are you people still trying to use the $15 bonus coupon?

there are some nice ways to transfer credit with the 5 games method. People are exploring new ways of modifying it like by getting PSP games from BBV and seeing the GS TIV

Are you talking about the gamestop branded PS3 Controller Charger? They converted those chargers to used. I bought one for $6.99 after 20% coupon and edge. Alot of gamestops have put them back on the wall in new condition but should scan at $9.99 now.

I kinda want the $30 pelican brand though. It looks sooo nice.

PS2 MtR is getting $3/$4.20 at GS. That has got to be dirt cheap at BB and I seem to remember seeing lots of them. I'm guessing $4.99 before B1G1? But until someone confirms it I won't add it to the OP.

Good job finding Octomania and Fatal Inertia... 2 rarest games to find used at GS if you ask me.

I know this one has been said millions of times, but SSBB is $45+tax->$42 at GS. It's a great filler if you can't find 6 games to buy... I found 2 at one BB, but didn't buy them just in case I couldn't get 2 others at some other BB. I'll be adding in a SSBB to make it an exact 5 and transfer more credit at the same time.

And is GRAW2 on clearance or something? Online it's still labelled at $29.99. $7.50->$32 is something I can live with.

Too many people are getting flagged for the $15 coupon. I'm just going to get 4 B1G1 games that are decent and then add in a SSBB or some other high priced game that doesn't have a bad conversion ratio.

Is it confirmed, besides that one poster, that the TIV of GRAW is $32?- I do know it's on clearance at TRU for 7.98 +tax. Also Dark, where are you 'buying' SSBB from to get that price at Gamestop? At Blockbuster?

Holy abbreviations Batman!

GRAW2's TIV is $16 according to the guy that posted that. I guess we'll need confirmation on that one.

Buy SSBB from BB for $44.99 and trade it into GS for $42. You'll lose some money, but it's kind of worth it if you want to move credit quickly when paired up with 4 B1G1 games. My BBV's are almost out of B1G1 games so I'll need to add in a game with a high TIV at GS to move credit at a decent rate.
