Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

I'm out now-will post the list I spent 2 hours last night making later. The other thread had a lot of wrong prices in it. It seems a lot of BBV stores are bad with the retagging ;)

GH:Aerosmith (360) TIV dropped to $6, but was then told they couldn't accept it because it was one of the clearance titles.

They did have a bunch of stuff, but I ended up passing. No sense spending actual money on games I probably won't play for months.

I've been to about 6 now, out of those 6 stores, 1 had proper price tags. All others were all over the place.

So lucky! I couldnt find heavenly sword. I did get ratchet and clank, folklore, rock band and devil may cry 4 so not bad for a lil over 50 bucks.

i found 2 blockbuster and the cashier guy says "uncharted isnt for sale" wat does that mean those arent GR stores i dont get it any one help?

Has anyone seen a copy of Ninja Gaiden Sigma for this sale yet? I think there might be a new copy at my BB but I can't check until later. If there is, I'll make sure I post.

I managed to get MGS4 ($30) and Uncharted ($20) at my local store. They had Ratchet & Clank, too, but unfortunately, I just bought it a couple weeks ago for $35 and I can't return it...

Dont feel bad, I bought uncharted used at gamestop a few weeks back for 40 bucks.

I did see ninja gaiden in our store, it was 14.99 I think.

I bought Rock Band 2 for $29.99 and Army of Two for $14.99 (both new for the PS3) today at my local Blockbuster.

It's pretty easy, you can either just call the BB and ask if they have the new versions of the games you want for sale or you can go in the store and check their selection. Sometimes they won't have them on display so always ask for availability. If they don't have them, nothing you can do really so move on to the next and repeat the steps. Unless your BB is a franchise store, these prices are universal.

My BB had Battlefield Bad Company, Bioshock, Star War Unleashed, Fallout 3, Half Life 2 Orange Box, and others all for $12.99 each. Didn't get any of them as they don't interest me, but you gotta admit they are decently priced. Might be worth people just strolling by theirs.

Good point. I found Grand Theft Auto IV for 15 bucks and Bioshock for 20 (wish I'd seen one for 13!). Different stores have different pricing--if you're out, check a few that are near you.

Was the Fallout 3 for 360 or PS3?

Grabbed new copies of Grid (360) $20, Wario (Wii) $20 & Far Cry 2 (ps3) $20. All of my credit is gone so I guess my BB days are finished.

So long BB, you were good to me while you had the crazy trade in values.

Resistance 2 $49.99

It's now hit the front page of SD but no list and a few posts of frustration.
With the clue another round of deals may hit tomorrow...why post a list today? I throw out the idea of Monday as you (mod) eluded to a few pages back.
IF another round of ? hits tomorrow, the list will be in the hands of every lurker here and other site(s).

just my 2 cents, only a couple members have asked about a list while many are just looking through pages and going from there...and actually having a chance of getting to a store or two if they had to work today!

I've found all but one title I am seeking...

just thinking of contributing members here...

Delran, NJ has:

Saint's Row 2 (PS3): $24.99
Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3): $29.99

Only 1-2 copies per title are left, except for MGS4 and GTA4 which have 3-4 apiece.
I got Motorstorm Pacific Rift & Viking for $15 each
Motorstorm Pacific? Man you got lucky as they mismarked that one! Did they do an override to honor the $14.99 sticker? (The original Motorstorm is $14.99, #2 is $29.99)

I wouldn't even bother making a list, honestly. I know you want to make it easier to consolidate everything, but it's going to be a lot more effective (and more will benefit) if you keep it spread out amongst multiple posts. Compiling a definitive list is just going to make it easier to copy to another site and they'll all be gone.

Picked up a Spider-man:Web of Shadows used at Gamestop only to find it new for $25 at GR.... DAMNIT!

Anyway, flipped a Gamestop $12.99 Rock Revolution for $19; picked up Brothers in Arms: HH for $20. Lots of the new game stuff there that was previously mentioned, but not much that was recently released. Stuff I'm not sure was mentioned:
(360)
WWE whatever 2008 $10
CON: Prince Caspian $10
Sega Rally Revo $10
Viking $15
Civilization Revoltions $20
Quantum of Solace $25
KUF: Circle of Doom $15
Bourne Conspiracy $25

They STILL had a bunch of the coverless clearance games there, but nothing outstanding.

Yeah thats exactly what happened, it had a $15 sticker, so they overrided it
They didn't have much left in my store, I got the last copies of Viking and Pacific Rift

I picked up Uncharted at Manhattan beach and Sepulveda BBV. They had at least one left yesterday.

I agree. I've been chugging through posts, going back and forth and whatnot, to find the deals. It'll be better for people who are not out to hoard games and sell on ebay.

Also a note to everyone who want to save time and gas. You can call the BBVs in your area and check to see if they have a game you're looking for. The clerks even give you the price. At one point last night, one BBV even held a game for me. I would only suggest this if you're only looking for one or two games though.

Went to one Blockbuster that was repricing stuff...saw 2 copies of Soul Calibur IV Special Edition in the case marked $59.99. I asked for one...and grabbed some mismarked DS games...clerk said....I don't think any of this stuff is on the clearance list, sorry. Then she rings it up and the DS games are $5 each and SC IV is $29.99. She went and grabbed the other 80 or so new DS games in the store and started repricing them all...$5...$10....$15....and $20 piles. Only other thing I grabbed was Advanced Wars Days of Ruin for $10...forgot it was that price.

Oh, you can add Trace Memory and Poker to the $5 DS list. Disney Princess to the $10 DS list.

Stingermck - they always drop used game prices on Sunday so invariably something will drop - the question is how extensive that drop will be. I didn't hear anything else today (but then again, I didn't ask). Generally they won't know till it happens anyway.

Well, I hit up 2 stores today. The first had everything at the old prices but still didn't have what I was looking for (TWEWY, PS3 Rock Band 1 bundle, and Heavenly Sword).

The second had everything correctly marked and out on a table right at the entrance. Needless to say it was being poured over by every civilian that passed through. As a result I think I'll post the list here soon because it helps CAGs get a leg up at those stores that haven't retagged before they do so. You'll just have to get there before the SD/FW/CAG unwashed masses do.

At this store I did snag a Rock Band 1 bundle. I'm not sure why as I already have RB2 and GHWT bundles for the 360 as well as GHII and GH:Aero guitar bundles for the PS3 (didn't have PS3 drums though). It just seemed too good to pass up. I'm kicking myself for getting the GHIII and Aero bundles at Best Buy for $40 and $30 though - I thought they'd never be that cheap anywhere else .

And a scary thing happened today - I think I'm down to about $10 in BBV credit. That hasn't happened since my very first trade-in way back in January 2005. I may actually have to use cash if I want to buy anything else :cold:.
Is de Blob good? I never play my Wii....but my daughter might enjoy it in a year maybe.
De Blob is an excellent game - one of the best on the Wii. Yeah, you just bounce around and paint stuff. And in Halo you run around and shoot stuff, and in Oblivion you run around and fight stuff... So throw that argument out the window ;). It is very fun to bounce around - the dynamic music effects (that change with each color) are reason enough to try it out. It is well worth the $20 at BBV - buy it now! I felt bad passing it up at multiple places (I already have it and beat it). I felt like I should buy them and give them to people ;).

Not surprising at all as the previous clearance price which has been active for 2-3 months before the Thursday drop was $32.99.
In one thread someone had posted that PSP Slims are $100. Anyone confirm this?
Considering that Blockbuster does not carry new PSP hardware I find that very unlikely. A few GR stores might have PSPs and since I don't live within 900 miles of a GR store I personally have no idea about their pricing. The BBVs near me don't even sell any new PSP games.

Saw a few worthwhile games at the local store that I don't think were mentioned yet

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (DS) - 9.99
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PS2) - 9.99
Twisted Metal: Head On - Extra Twisted Edition (PS2) - 9.99

I only picked up Advance Wars & DMC4 but was really hoping for Professor Layton And The Curious Village since I remembered seeing it back in December at my store and possibly FFVII:RW (since it was so cheap). Some other good stuff that they had (and some that they didn't) but I figured with a never ending back log that I was better without some of the good $15-20 games and for a few I did see that I want at some point (like Wario Land Shake It) I was better off taking a chance at finding it cheaper at some point down the road.
I think if you read this thread regularly (which I know is harder when it blows up like this), then you should already have your own list made. People need to stop expecting that everything be handed to them on a shiny, Io-compiled silver platter.
I picked up Uncharted at Manhattan beach and Sepulveda BBV. They had at least one left yesterday.
Thanks for the info. If it's still there, I'll pick it up.

My BBV have PSP systems. I saw the God of War at 2 places I believe and the Blue Madden bundle also. Both were $199.99....so no deal there.

A few generic questions: Any difference between Mercenaries 2 on 360 and PS3 (same for Saint's Row 2)?
- Still debating on MGS4 also....I hear great things about it, but the cutscenes are non-skipable, correct? I generally just want to PLAY a game, not watch it.

Is BBV open on Easter? debating whether to see if the USED games dropped. My stores have some nice used games....just waiting for some nice drops that match these new prices.

I picked up
Wario 19.99
Wall-e (Wii)14.99
and No More Heroes 9.99

Also saw a High School Musical 3 dancing game with a matt for the PS2 for 14.99 if any of you have daughters

Oh, you can add Trace Memory and Poker to the $5 DS list. Disney Princess to the $10 DS list.
Oh man, gotta really try to find Trace Memory now. The two BBVs I went to today only had like four total good games combined. Picked up Final Fantasy CC: Ring of Fates, but the rest were usually Imagine titles. I've been waiting for a DS coupon at GS to get Trace Memory used for $7, but if I could find that, Advance Wars, or Children of Mana, I would be a happy camper

Stopped by the GR store near my house this afternoon. I saw several of the clearance prices that were previously posted. I saw the "lunchbox" collector's edition of Fallout 3 for both systems marked $39.99. It looked like they also had a God of War PSP slim bundle with a pink clearance sticker but it was way behind the counter and I didn't catch the price. I traded in a copy of RR and snagged Mario Super Sluggers for $20.

I usually ignore the BBV threads since I never find anything at my local stores.

So, today I stop into one only because it's next to Trader Joe's and I'm not in a rush.

I see Professor Layton ($10), Wario Shake It ($20), De Blob ($20), SSBB ($25) and SMG ($25), along with other, more craptastic titles. I did find a Bioshock box, but it wasn't on the clearance table and wasn't in the system. Bummer.

So I came back home and checked this thread. I then dash out to the next closest BBV, where Uncharted is in a clearance rack. I was hoping for R&C, but didn't see it. Then I roam the store and find a locked case. Bingo. One left.

Picked up Wario, Uncharted, and R&C:TOD. What a steal!

I went to 8 different BBV in Orange County, CA (Santa Ana, Fountain Valley, Irvine, Huntington Beach). Most of them didn't really have much, but a few had a decent collection. Was mainly looking for 360 games so I picked up DMC4 CE ($15), Blue Dragon ($10), MLB 2K8 ($10), and Assassin's Creed ($15). Most of the other games I saw on clearance have already been posted here.
