Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.
Actually, many Blockbuster stores even keep the actual cases and instruction manuals off to the side in a drawer, so you can get a game complete(if you ask for them)when you're buying them used.

Aside from two of the games I bought tonight(Mercenaries 2 was missing the manual, Armored Core 4 looked like someone's fingerprints got burned into the disc), everything I've bought from them in recent months has been flawless and complete.

PS3 games are pretty hard to scratch up to begin with. Most times you'll just be wiping the disc off to remove some smudges/fingerprints, which you can do with any soft cloth(I use my t-shirt I'm wearing usually lol)and it shouldn't harm the disc in any way.

I got the following for $21.18 total:

:ps3: Armored Core 4(complete)
:ps3: Incredible Hulk(complete)
:ps3: Mercenaries 2(missing the manual)
:ps3: Monster Madness(complete)

They even gave me a couple spare clear PS3 cases when I asked at the second Blockbuster I stopped at tonight.

Now I just have to see how AC4 plays and see if I can grab a manual for Mercenaries 2 from another Blockbuster(or if all else fails Gamestop :D).
What are some good games that I could pick up for cheap at my local blockbuster? I'm from PA
I bet the blockbuster games are scratched up big time.
I hit up a Blockbuster that usually has a pretty good selection and picked up all of the following, all complete and most near mint, or at least as good as or better than most Gamestop stuff:

:360:
Onechanbara - $14.99

:wii:
Onechanbara - $9.99
Pikmin - $14.99

:ds:
Monsters vs Aliens - $14.99
Star Wars Clone Wars Jedi Alliance - $14.99

:psp:
Loco Roco 2 - $9.99

Like I said all were complete (except the 360 Onechanbara and they let me take the manual from the rental copy) and many of them looked untouched. The Pikmin has some light scratches but should be fine. I did pass on a Star Wars Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels because it was moderately scratched. But the Onechanbara's look like they were never rented, which is likely the case ;).

I went to that store specifically for Pikmin because they told me at my local store that this other one was the only one that had it in stock. So score one for the BBV stock locator system and score two for luck (in that it lasted an entire second day sitting in the B1G1 bin correctly tagged - whew!). Then I used the IGN iPhone app to look at reviews for the DS stuff. The Star Wars Jedi Alliance game had an 8.0 so I definitely was glad to snag that. My son will probably love it.

I passed up lots of other stuff. They had the Littlest Pet Shop games for the DS for $14.99. I would have gotten one for a gift for my niece but once again I ran out of credit and had to resort to cash for part of my purchase. And that was even after trading a Saints Row 2 I had left over from the HWV sale.

Trade-in prices:

:ps3:
Saints Row 2 - $10

:ds:
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Time/Darkness - $4.50

I wasn't expecting much out of the PMD games since they sold them for so cheap but it was worth a shot since I got them for $5 from Fry's. I ended up keeping them (and besides, GC gives $10 for them).

By the way, GC also gives $18.34 (after MVP) for FF Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time ;).

my blockbuster is more and more appalling every time I go...the selection of games is HORRENDOUS. If I ever again see that many copies of Disney's Bolt, various Guitar Heroes and Ninja Reflex for Wii I will have no choice but to drive myself into a guardrail on the way home.
Yeah, I'm only interested in going to a blockbuster for the first time since maybe... 3 years just for this kind of sale. My question though is whether or not these games on the list are in somewhat good shape to good shape+. They must have been used many times because they were rents, so Idk if I'd be satisfied with that and rather just look somewhere else... even if I have to pay more.

Anyways, to my library having ps3 games... I have these games on hold to pick up soon:

Call Of Juarez 2: Bound In Blood
NHL 2K10
Madden NFL 10
G.I. Joe. The rise of Cobra
Dirt 2
Batman: Arkham Asylum
LittleBigPlanet
Lord of the Rings Conquest
Uncharted

and blu-ray dvd Coraline.

Sweet, ya?
You might have them on hold but you won't be picking them up soon. If you have ever used a library hold process you know that everyone in the system puts a hold on new sh--. It happens all the time with DVD's. Any new movie has a long wait. If your Library has these, then you are lucky. Pretending you will get them soon if flat out funny.

As for people not believing this it is very possible. I can request Wii games through my Library. They have to order request them through libraries throughout the state but it is possible to rent Wii games.

-I'm new here-

Trade-in prices refers to when you bring in your own game to "sell" or "trade" to a store and they give you money/credit?

Yes. I traded a Saints Row 2 and got $10 in credit - which covered the two $9.99 games I picked up (because of the B1G1).

Sorry, I just had time to make a hit-n-run post after getting back from BBv and going to my kids' school orientations. Now I gotta go round up dinner for the family - I'll catch up and add new games to the OP later tonight.

No, really-- In a week or less.

I picked up about 8 my last go... Mercenaries 2, Uncharted, Up, Unreal Tournament III, Top Spin, etc. and couple blu-ray dvds: Watchmen (which I was 2nd person to get from library), Valkyrie, etc.

Quit it.:bomb:

Ya, but just giving perspective. I already save ALOT of money by just going to my library.

Seriously you guys. :bouncy:

Anyways, you know where I can get GTA IV (new or used) for NOT $30 or near that? I'm still looking for it like $15-$20... but I doubt I can find that.
so that means the people at my store are just too lazy to look then cause a game like mini ninjas or cabelas which come out the 8th if its on order it should tell the employee that by now correct?
Yup.

Well, then try your Blockbuster. It they have it, it'll be 14.99. Good luck.

Picked up the following tonight, all positive flips to Amazon.
DS Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon $9.99
Wii Sonic Unleashed $14.99
PS3 Folklore $9.99
DS Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time $14.99

It's out of way compared to my gamestop. The pricing would probably balance out by just driving to blockbuster and back.

Unless... there are good games that i'm looking for that I could also get with the deal.

Anyways, i'm pretty sure I'm in good hands with

Call of juarez 2, nhl 2k10, madden nfl 10, and dirt 2. Probably 1st to make holds...

I think GI joe, batman, and littlebigplanet will take some time. Darnit!

Oh, and yes this is free with no pay (only late charges but you can borrow for approx 2 weeks).. to clear anything

$9.99
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Folklore
Lair
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom

I passed up several games, including Ratchet & Clank, Bloom Blox, Virtua Fighter 5, and several others.

You must have an amazing Blockbuster...
I'd get GTA IV, R&C, Virtua fighter (depends on price).

I tried a local Blockbuster. Aside from Okami for the Wii they had nothing. I couldn't even find anything descent to match Okami with, so I left it.

I picked up these for the 360. Not what I really wanted, but first store i checked had nothing at all. I had a $25 gift card I found just going to waste for few months so might as well use it :)

Turok $9.99
Don King Prizefighter $9.99
Narnia Prince Caspian $6.99
Dark Sector $6.99
Frontlines fuel of war $6.99
Star trek legacy $6.99

Kills me everytime I see someone found Folklore for $10, I checked a bunch of Blockbusters during the last sale with no luck. Hopefully I can find one this time around, maybe they converted some old rentals for the sale.
-I'm new here-

Trade-in prices refers to when you bring in your own game to "sell" or "trade" to a store and they give you money/credit?
:roll::roll: Please read the first few posts in this thread.
Very informative, Op took a lot of time to make it so.
Respect that, read and be informed...

Too many posts! Things like this should be in one central thread! Sorry!

YES! Great news! The BBV about 3-4 mi away from my home is having this sale :D

unfortunatly, the one 2 blocks away from my home isnt :(

but if i can get GTA IV and some other gems, itll be a good sale :)
I bet the blockbuster games are scratched up big time.
Yeah they are scratched up to hell, so don't bother even checking. In fact, don't even bother checking this thread. It's a fucking futile effort.

Today I picked up:

Pikmin for the Wii - 14.99
GTA4 for ps3 - 14.99 (just needed something to match up with pikmin)

Boom Blox - 14.99
De Blob 14.99 (couldn't find anything good to match up with Boom Blox)

Cranium Kabooki 6.99
Elebits (wii) 6.99 (needed something cheap to go with kabooki).

All the games I bought were complete and so freakin mint that they all look brand new. The freakin Bukkake game is brand new and not the one I traded in at that BBV last. It came with 2 of those red goggle thingymabobs.

I asked to check a lot of prices on 19.99 and 24.99 games to see if they dropped, but none of them were 14.99. The ones I remember checking are Socom Confrontation, GRID, Mario Super Sluggers for the Wii, Wario shake it, Wareware smooth moves. I can't remember the others, but I'll post em if I remember.

Also, some fucking c**t BBV employee whore asked me to pay $19.99 for the Super Smash Bros guide when it was ringing up a penny. I told her I didn't even pay that much money for the game. She knew the guides were half off, but this one didn't have a $10.00 sticker on it so she would only give it to me for $19.99 (even though they rang it up a dozen times and each time it was $.01). Sry for ranting but this is BBV.

Some drops I remember (off the top of my head):

Folklore 9.99 (just wanted to confirm what others posted)
Bolt dropped to 9.99 for all systems unless my stores mistagged.
Wall-E 360 - 9.99
Hellboy ps3 dropped to 9.99
God of War Chains of Olypus 14.99
Patapon 9.99 (might have been 14.99. I'm not positive).
Final Fantasy Echos in Time DS still 19.99(was marked 19.99 but I didn't confirm because the sticker was just from june 09.)
Bomberman wii marked 14.99
Tiger Woods 07 wii marked 14.99
Tiger Woods 08 wii marked 14.99
Quake wars 360 - 14.99

I'm so tired I cant remember anymore right now. I'm sure darkrider will help us out. I just remember that several games that I didn't care about that were 14.99 during the last sale were marked 9.99 now.
Traded in 3 copies of Cranium Kabookii for $16 each and came home with:

Drakengard 2 - $6.99
Suikoden V - $6.99

:360:
Beautiful Katamari - $6.99

Lost Odyssey - $14.99

:ps3:
Enchanted Arms - $14.99
Warhawk w/ Headset - $9.99
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - $14.99
Unreal Tournament III - $9.99
Folklore - $9.99

:wii:
Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers - $9.99
No More Heroes - $9.99

:psp:
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - $14.99

:ds:
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - $14.99
Ninjatown - $9.99

Guides:
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed x 4
Metal Gear Solid 4 x 2
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe x 2
Street Fighter IV x 2
Super Smash Bros. Brawl

All for $94.xx :D
I'd be very happy to pick up Beuatiful Katamari for 3.50.

The first Patapon game is 6.99, FF echos on ds IS 19.99, I double checked the computer =P

Saw NHL 08 for $14.99 but didn't find Bioshock so I left it. With NHL 10 due out in a couple of weeks, NHL 08 SHOULD be at most $9.99.

i found 2 mgs guides with factory shrink. the cashier after talking to the manager refused to sell me both for the penny. manager said that the system is screwed up because the guides were part of a bundle that they never got the other part from. i said huh and you never got the other part of the bundle? the game came out like a year ago!!! manager replies, "yeah i know."

should i have given DM a call?

I am pretty sure my wife is going to leave me now... But at least I will have a lot of games . Cashier rang me up for 3 different transactions for each price point. Seemed thrilled that they were getting rid of so many games.

Does a Gamerush have to be with Blockbuster for this deal to be active? The Blockbuster in my town doesn't even have current gen games, but there are a few in nearby towns... with no Gamerush.

Tonight while I was running around BBVs, one of the employees told me that I could renew my blockbuster rewards membership for a year for $5, so I did. I don't know if this is going on at all stores or just this one store. I don't rent anything, I'll use the monthly coupon to rent 12 older blu rays throughout the year.

On things like transfers/destroys my store is actually on the ball(because that particular manager is hardworking and very fast at what he does, something I can't say about everyone there) and we have already taken all of the .01 guides out of our systems as destroys. If I'm lucky I may be able to get 1 or 2, I can dream, but if you came to my store you wouldn't even find them.

The manager might not know what is going on or might be lieing to you. Basing it off of my managers, you'd probably get a different answer from each one of them. You can call the dm, but if it's a company wide destroy I doubt you'll get anywhere, though maybe they'll let you get them since the store screwed up and didn't take it off the sales floor.

Doesn't work on blu rays without just manually doing it which I know my store wouldn't unless yours already does. At my store we're just giving rewards to you(new or renewal) for 10$ but then letting you get a free new release for a week(5$ value) right then and there, but you got pretty much the same deal(or exactly if you were renting as well).

I've used the free coupon on non new release blu rays at least 6 or 7 times. One store refused it though. I wasn't renting anything when I renewed either.
WOAH ALL GUIDES ARE 1 PENNY? THERE ARE SO MANY GUIDES TO GAMES THAT I HAVE @ MY BBV HERE WOWOWOWOWOWO

No, not all guides, only:
Super Smash Bros
MGS4
MK vs DC Universe
Street Fighter 4
Star Wars TFU

good luck on your hunt.
No, most of the clearance guides that were half off are .01. Newer stuff like madden 10 are regular price.
oh...

are the guides like fable 2 and gears 2 and the big fallout 3 guides .01? or are they reg price?

Yeah then you just got 5$ off. I heard someone mention that but have barely worked the last week, had slow ass shifts, and haven't tried selling any rewards to care ;) Maybe we can do it if it seems like we can get you but you aren't renting, lol. Free coupon on blu ray seems ymmv to me though, I don't know. It literally does not work for our blu rays in the computer, at all. They're a different rent code than old dvds and they cost the same as new blu rays/new releases as well.

I hope to see Animal Crossing: City Folk hit the $14.99 plateau during this sale. I was able to snag Pikmin (Wii) and LoZ:pH (DS) to complete the trio of titles I was interested in getting. I will stop at another store (or three) tomorrow to see if anything else piques my interest.

Just came back from the Blockbuster .. barely had anything, but I did manage to grab Mirror's Edge (PS3) & New Play Control Pikmin (Wii) for $15 and change.

Oh actually something notable came up though. I don't have a 360, but I was looking through the selection to see if there was anything I could use for trades. And I did see 1 GTA IV for $6.99. The case was in good condition but I don't know if there was a manual or not. Probably a price mistake as the list on the OP says its $14.99.. if anyone is interested, I could pick it up for them. If interested, just shoot me a PM and we'll work something out ;). I have two more BBVs to go to tomorrow as those two don't start the sale till tomorrow, hopefully some goodies pop out :).

fable 2 should be like $10, Gears 2 should be like $10, and Fallout 3 should be $12.50. I've considered getting the fallout 3 guide for $12.50, but they are going to come out with a Fallout 3 GOTY guide that has the DLC guides included as well, so I'm waiting for that.
