Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.
Is Professor Layton really that hard to come by?
Almost every BBV I've been to have at least 2 copies.

I've been to about 12 Blockbusters in the past week. I've seen Professor Layton at one store.
Yep, same here (though I haven't quite been to 12 yet - maybe 6 or 7). I don't think it was ever at the others (or it sold long ago at the previous clearance price - remember nearly all these games were on clearance before last week just not quite as cheap).
If anyone could pick these up for me and I will pay for them, none of my Blockbusters have DS games.

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Meteos
Professor Layton
Sonic Chronicles
The World Ends With You
Good luck with that. The only ones I've seen have been the one copy of Layton and Sonic Chronicles (which does seem to be at every store).

Hey... I was out at another store and found a Golden Axe (360) marked for $25 as part of the sale. Also saw Conf;oct: Denied Ops (360) marked for $15. Anyway, traded:

Rock Revolution (360): $19.

Decided my money would be better spent on the last 360 Soul Calibur IV Collector's Edition for $30 (mis-tagged at $79.99, of course). Two kids just in front of me were getting a Fallout 3 Collector's ed. and a PS3 SCIV Collector's ed., but I didn't get any indication they knew they'd be on sale (but the cashier seemed a little surprised when she rang them up.)

For some reason, this store also had a whole bunch of complete "The Unit" seasons 1 & 2 sets for $15 in the used section.

I wonder if there's a chance that GR will resort to including the current sale games in the next B1G1 to clear their inventory...

Oh, also saw Armored Core 4 (360) priced at $15 as part of the sale.
Been looking for that $24.99 Saints Row 2 for PS3 and now heard from one of the managers that BB in my area (Greenville, SC) shipped them off to stores in New Jersey. What, they think that gang-based games will sell better there? I'm calling regional discrimination!
I've been looking for SR 2 as well, but it seems that that game and Uncharted sold out really quick. Mind you, I can't blame people for picking up Uncharted when they saw it for $20, since it IS still $40 every place else. I had the damn game and I ended up dumping it when I wasn't playing it.

I'm just glad I found a GTA IV SE for $30. But someone in a prior post mentioned Fallout 3 Collector's being cheaper with this sale. What's the price on that? I ask because the same store that had the GTA4 SE had a copy of Fallout 3 CE right next to it.
I cant seem to find Battlefield bad company for any less the 29.99 for the xbox360. Tried 3 stores. Maybe CA has a different price list?
Did you have it price checked? It could've been mismarked, since it should still ring up for the sale price in the system. That's the main thing, if something is mismarked, have it price checked. You wouldn't believe all of the clearance games I've bought from Target/Sears/Kmart that still had $60 price tags on them.
I"m pretty sure it's only the PS3 version that's $14.99. I've only seen the 360 version at $29.99.
I've also seen quite a few PS3 versions for $15, but the list on the 1st page lists the 360 version for $15 (or $20). I guess it might be a price mistake.

Just wanted to bump the hell out of this thread. I don't usually waste my time at GameRush since the selection/prices usually suck for me. But, when I heard all of these great DS games for cheap, I had to go in. WOW. The selection blew my mind. I was really tempted by stuff I didn't particularly want, like SCIV Collector's, which was behind the counter. $30 for GH:WT is a great deal, too. Ultimately, I got Advance Wars for $10, Professor Layton for $10, and World Ends with You for $15. I'm happy and very surprised! If I hadn't bought them already, I would have bought MGS4, DMC4, RRXX, Umbrella Chronicles, and a lot more. . .

One Gamerush location put out a ton of stock in the last few days. Was able to add No More Heroes for $9.99 to my haul. I have also seen Saints Row 2 PS3 if anyone is dying to get a copy.

Got uncharted $19.99
heavenly sword $14.99 and
fallout 3 ce $39.99

total $80 something. The one i went to was untouched lots of great games still there but i had no cash left

Picked up Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (PS3)
I actually have an extra one, grabbed an extra copy for a friend and he allready had it, : / If anyone wants it for cost + ship its yours.

The majority of the games are available in my area, some tempting deals.

Went to a BB in Buena Park, CA on Knott and Lincoln. They had no signage up and everything was mispriced. So I found a new The World Ends With You for $15. Saw they had two Professor Layton's and Sonic Chronicles for DS. Didn't see much for 360 but Dark Sectors and Blue Dragon and some other titles. PS3 was also lacking. Blast Works for wii is there. If you're in the area drop by might find something you like.

I picked up Uncharted.Unfortunately they didnt have what I wanted Oblivion GOTY or Assassins Creed.CML if you want to trade.

I went to 3 stores today and found some good titles.

:wii:
HOTD 2&3 14.99

Lost Planet EC 9.99
Assasins Creed 14.99
:xbox:
Darkwatch 6.99
Spartan Total Warror(mint complete!) 9.99
:ds:
Professor Layton 9.99
:gc:
Viewtiful Joe 2.99

Went to my Blockbuster, for some reason it felt as if half the games in the store were taken already, but turns out they were rearranged. Found a new copy of Samba de Amigo for 9.99, and looked at a couple of SCIVs for 25 (Only bought Samba though.)
There were a lot of De Blob for 20 bucks, and I'm kind of wondering if it's a good enough game. I love katamari, and I heard it's comparable, but will it float my boat?
Finally found Mario Strikers at the last BBV I was willing to go to that was close enough to my house or work. Sweet deal.

Mario Sluggers was tempting for 19.99 but from what I've read it doesn't have much replay value.
I picked up Mario Super Sluggers and it's pretty disappointing. You can collect all of the characters and beat the game in a couple hours tops. I'm glad I only paid $10 "real" money for it. Even for $20 it's somewhat of a ripoff.

Does anybody know where can i find any of these games for PS3?
-Assasin creed
-Devil May Cry 4 LE
-WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009
-Soul Caliber IV LE
-Ridge Racer 7

I live in Boston MA

Thank you for any answers

Was able to get Professor Layton for $10 and No More Heroes for $10. Was the last copy of Professor Layton at the store too (and still had a price sticker for $25. Price checking for the win lol)

Here's some TIV for the OP I got today:

:wii:
Cranium Kabooki - 16$ (surprise, surprise)
AMF Bowling Pinbusters - 2.50$
Battle of the Bands - 2.50$

*Gonna pick up either Warioland shake it, or De Blob tomorrow.

I picked up Mario Super Sluggers last week. Is it better, or at the very least more in-depth, than Wii Sports baseball?

I'll probably be heading in to check some of the further BBVs tommorow after work(since the three closest ones are all franchised). I'm really only hoping to score a copy of DMC 4 LE for PS3, but I might see what else there is. If anyone has a copy and might want to trade(I'll see what I can find) then let me know. Speaking of franchised BBVs, I went to the local one with the $5 PS2 games and picked up a couple more:

-FF XII
-Armored Core: Nexus
-Innocent Life
-Monkey Ball Deluxe

If only they'd clear out the rest of their PS2 games(like that'll ever happen), I've been getting the itch for Burnout 3 lately...

That a joke? OF COURSE IT IS! You won't be dissapointed, at least if you're playing with friends. Great multi game.

I'll probably be heading in to check some of the further BBVs tommorow after work(since the three closest ones are all franchised). I'm really only hoping to score a copy of DMC 4 LE for PS3, but I might see what else there is. If anyone has a copy and might want to trade(I'll see what I can find to barter) then let me know. Speaking of franchised BBVs, I went to the local one with the $5 PS2 games and picked up a couple more:

-FF XII
-Armored Core: Nexus
-Innocent Life
-Monkey Ball Deluxe

If only they'd clear out the rest of their PS2 games(like that'll ever happen), I've been getting the itch for Burnout 3 lately....

A few people started trashing it, so I was just curious.;)
I think your best bet would be to check out blockbuster:lol:
Today I went to 3 Blockbuster stores, but no any of them:cry:.

Its no Mario Strikers Charged, but its fun in its somewhat fun as long as you are constantly playing with other players.

A BBV I stopped by today had all of their new games out on a table, so not sure if this is a normal or sale price but I saw :ps3: Call of Duty 3 for 9.99. Never played it, don't know if it is good or not, just didn't notice the price mentioned yet.
I think you mentioned getting a Fable II LE for retail price in a previous post. Are these insanely rare or something?
They go for a good price on eBay/Amazon. ;)
Does anybody know where can i find any of these games for PS3?
-Assasin creed
-Devil May Cry 4 LE
-WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009
-Soul Caliber IV LE
-Ridge Racer 7

You mean other than Blockbuster? How about Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, GameCrazy, GameStop, Kmart, Newegg, Sears, Toys 'R Us, or heck even Wal-Mart?
I went to 3 stores today and found some good titles.

:wii:
HOTD 2&3 14.99
:360:
Lost Planet EC 9.99
Assasins Creed 14.99
:xbox:
Darkwatch 6.99
Spartan Total Warror(mint complete!) 9.99
:ds:
Professor Layton 9.99
:gc:
Viewtiful Joe 2.99
I hope you're not counting on a future Xbox live bc update to play Spartan on your 360...

So did anyone else find a small magic marker thing in their SCIV limited editions? I can understand everything else... but a magic marker???:whistle2:k

Sorry, I worte it not clear. I meant Blockbuster.

For running a SCIV tournament.

Most Blockbusters (even non-Gamerush stores) have tables set up for the sale now. Picked up :360: Assassin's Creed for $14.99 and :ds: Professor Layton for $9.99 today.

The last BBV I went to had some of the clearance games out on a table near the entrance. Most of the rest were actually being retagged while I was in there.

It was funny when the manager (who apparently was the only person there at the time) said "Oh, Rock Band 2 is actually $29.99, instead of $59.99"..........I didn't wanna seem like a turd by saying, "well duh, The BB/GR thread on CAG informed me of that last week".

I gotta say there are a ton of BB's and Gamerush's in San Antonio and I probably went in like 9 of them primarily because I was looking for a few games to fill out my kid's birthday gifts. It was weird how every store did this differently. The few stores that used tubs were irritating because you had to dig in them to see what they had. One store even had them pulled outside under a tent. I think I preferred the lazy stores who didn't tag anything because they had the best stuff
I haven't even played the single player yet, but the multi is really, really fun.
I'm the opposite, I've only played the one player game so far. I bet it would be really fun to play a full baseball game or the mini-games with four players.

TIVs for, I believe, most Wii games have been lowered. I was given $4 and 4.50 respectively for Ninja Reflexes, and Nights. So yeah, this pretty much ended my flipping spree between Blockbuster and Gamestop. Still, I'm assuming that some games are still above the $5 limit in order to count towards the extra $25 bonus.

They're still giving an assload for Rock Revolution though, $19 for 360 and PS3. Funny thing is, is I traded in a copy, the next day it was sitting on the shelf as "New" (assholes) for $44.99.

The only BBV I've been to in San Antonio is the one on Military and Huebner and they had the discount games set up in the aisle leading to the register. I almost missed them completely because I thought they were in the tubs on the floor. I do remember seeing Heavenly Sword there. I'm looking for Mario Sluggers or Bioshock though, so if you know a store that carries either one, let me know, otherwise I'll be doing some hunting this weekend.
Not sure if its on the list, but:

:360: Oblivion Collector's Edition $14.99 new -- I've only seen this at one store.
Wow, I haven't seen a new collector's edition in years.

The one on Tezel had sluggers yesterday. The one on Marbach near 410 had it a few days back. I've seen Bioshock at a few but i can't recall which because it really isn't on my radar
