What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.
Can I send NoRam a shipment with only 3 of the 5 games listed for trade? Will they credit me for the 3 games?
I just did this a couple days ago. I sent in a package with only 2 of the 4 games I submitted. Many people have done so in the past with no problems.

From Amazon Trade-in FAQ:
Can I change my trade-in after it has been submitted?

You cannot change your trade-in after it has been submitted. You can cancel and re-submit another trade-in.
If you want to only send some of the items from your trade-in, but not all, it is ok to send them with the trade-in you submitted. The missing items will be marked as "missing" and you will be paid for the items received if they are accepted after inspection.
If you want to trade-in additional items, you can create another trade-in and send it in the same packaging box with the previously submitted trade-in items. Make sure to include separate packing slips for all the trade-ins submitted.

It should also be noted that some folks have had success sending a second shipment in with the missing item(s) up to a week after. I wouldn't count on it by any stretch, but it doesn't hurt to print a second shipping/packing label in case you trip over additional copies later...
:360: or :ps3:
If those are for 360, I would've been extatic to find those. I've been thinking about picking up EA for a while, but I want to get DW:G. I own it on PS3, but I'll double-dip on that one. Must be rental conversions?

Damn, now my hopes are up. Gotta hit my store at lunch...
They were both 360.

Kind of wanted to pick up EA for awhile but was too cheap to pay more than $5 for it. It was the graphic novel version with box even. Hoping other stores have rental conversions like that.

I have a question for people flipping games to Amazon trade-in. I heard Amazon is kind of restrict on the condition of trade-in items. Does anyone have their trade-in rejected because of game disc condition? BBV is not known for offering best quality used games. Actually many of the games I bought from BBV before have scratches, especially 360 and wii games. I understand that people are locking in the trade-in price, but how can you be sure you can find mint copies of the game in your local stores?
Another related question is that if one of the games in the same trade-in transaction has scratches, will they keep the other games or they just send everything back to you?

just snagged my mlb2k10s and noticed two things that might interest people:

- saw Beatles Rock Band special value bundle for $40
- there's some promo coming up where you get a $5 gc if you buy a $25 gc which might be helpful if you're getting a stack of cheapo games

I've had games rejected for seemingly NO reason. The only thing I could figure is on the back of the CD case were the numbers that BBV writes on them (didn't think to wash it off) and the cover was very slightly faded from the sun.

Went to BBV during my lunch (and planning to hit another one after work.)

Not too bad...

Picked up

God of War 3 - $20 (of course not part of the deal - just really wanted this game since I just got my PS3 in today!)

MLB 2k10 - $15
Crackdown 2 - Free ($15)

Darksiders - $10
Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands - Free ($10)

All the games, except GoW 3, came with manuals. The employee said he'll grab one from another store he's going to.

Also, he says they'll refill the used games stock every week and the best day to come in is Tuesday.
Apparently he said that this guy bought 60 games from that store last week!
You guys know Enchanted Arms is 5 dollars at gamestop right?
Do they give you another free $5 game too?
Can you return the games for your money back?
I asked the same thing today and he said yes. 30 days.

I left the receipt in the car so I'm not sure how they would return your money for the "free" game.
Well I mean return all 4 and get my 30+ dollars back haha I want the toys r us red dead redemption deal
Ah cool. I'd get that RDR deal too if I didn't already have it. That makes it easier.

Also, I'm still wondering how it works with the free game and all that if you want to return just the free game... or the game that you paid for.

Like an idiot I didn't check the disks before I left, but the employee was checking it in front of me and that he checked them already and said they were fine.
Can you return the games for your money back?
It's up to the manager at each individual store, but typically the concensus is NO. They only allow you to exchange for the same game or one of equal value usually.

Oh really? Hmm. That's cool of the dude at my BBV then.

Amazon (or, really, NorAm) is not all that strict on disc condition. However, they are very strict on UPC adherence (ie, it needs to be the exact UPC they expect it to be even if it is effectively the same game - no games from bundles missing UPCs, no Collector's Edition UPCs for regular games, etc). They are also very strict on cover art and manual. Beyond that, they do look very closely for the tiniest of cracks in the plastic at the center and also for any writing on the disc (and, apparently, the case too - in that case just swap out the case before sending it in). I had a BBV game rejected several months back because the numbers "101" were written in very small sharpie text on the back of a disc. It played fine of course. All the games I got from one BBV, even the DS ones, had those numbers written on them - the idiots .

And as far as sending in partial shipments to Amazon, I've done it several times and am doing so right now in fact. When Amazon bumped up some prices but dropped others, I made a new submission with the ones that went up and am sending the older submission with the just the ones that dropped later included. I'm sending 3 of the 6 I originally locked in.
Can you return the games for your money back?
Not for no reason - only if they don;t work. And then, usually, they will just swap it for another or one of equal value as IATCG stated. At that point, though, they might just refund you. They don't have the GS 7 days "any reason" used game return policy though. YMMV of course with your local stores but standard policy is no returns on used games unless they don't work.

All of my local BBVs say that you can only exchange them for the same if they're defective. One of the cooler managers said if they don't work, I could return it but that's the first time ever I've heard that from a BBV in my area (San Jose, CA).
Today I saw (and bought) a game that was not in my list in the OP: Gears of War 2 is $14.99. For whatever reason this one store had 2 copies of it. I don't think I've seen that anywhere else though - and it wasn't even at this store when I went there last week.
it was a drop this week.

Went to the BBV on Pine Lake Road in Lincoln Nebraska.

Bioshock 2 -14.99
Kingdom of Hearts 358/2 days -free

Darksiders - 14.99
Mass Effect 2 - free

I didnt realize Darksiders was 14.99 til i got in my car. They had a couple games at 20 that Ive seen some people get for 14.99. Not too upset, it was 5 bucks.

They had GoW3 and UC2 for 19.99. Hopefully those drop soon.

I picked up two copies of Kane & Lynch 2 for PS3 from a further away Blockbuster, but it seems like EVERY 360 version is beat to hell. This is one time I'm actually grateful Sony went with Blu-Ray since they're pretty damned hard to scratch.

Although EVERY friggin' used game I've bought from BBV from this sale looked like whoever was handling the disc handled it read side down and palmed the whole bottom of the disc with their greasy palms.:bomb: What sucks is that those greasy prints take a bit to get up and even with the scratch resistant coating on Blu-Rays it's possible to scratch it up by trying to wipe them off.

Ah. Greasy prints are truly terrible. I tend to soak my CD in water for a few seconds and it seems to work pretty well afterwards. Try it.

I already wiped them both down, only to find that the one PS3 disc has about a 1cm light scratch on it. I'm not sure if it was from the wiping or if it was there already, but it could've been worse if not for the scratch resistant coating.;)

IF they still rent the title, I have had luck asking that copy to be checked...and then bought it vs the for sale copy...

They had 3 copies out for sale for PS3 and none for rent. Believe me, I checked the other PS3 copy and it looked worse than the one with the scratch.

Are you kidding? The whole process of buying used games is 100x nicer on the PS3 because of that (and I appreciate it way more often than one time ;)). So not only do I appreciate having a blu-ray player built-in to my PS3 (though I use it for that only once every few months), but I love the ability to buy nearly mint used copies of games nearly every time. It also means you can order used games online with much more confidence.

The irony there is that weren't there rumors before the PS3 launch of Sony introducing some sort of DRM that would disable playing of used games? That turned out not to be true, of course, but I think Sony had made some noise about doing away with the used game industry. The PS3 scratch-resistant discs only make it stronger though, IMO ;).

They also tried via FW update to get rid of the possibility of non licensed controllers(which borked most USB dongle ones), they removed Linux and God knows what else.

So since release the console has become less of a 'it only does everything' machine and more of a 'it only does what Sony still wants you to be able to do' one.

But yeah I do thank them again for the scratch resistant coating, but I really needed two mint/complete copies of the PS3 version. So I guess I'm gonna have to see if Amazon has any PS3 copies left and use some of my credit there up to grab one.

All in all though, K&L2 is a fun game, especially for $7.50.;)
couldn't have said it better myself. although the angle of the game kills me sometimes and i cant tell if i am aiming right most of the time.
I'm more of a spray n prayer myself in shooting games, so it works well for me. Plus I tend to use a lot of cover.;)

Hmm saw this at BBV today but didn't see anything to pair it with. Now I'm semi-interested in this. Thanks guys! Hope to find a good pairing.
PS3 FME still held at $22 today

As did the 360 version.

Just wondering since it's been a while that I've traded games into Blockbuster. Do TIVs still hold for a week (Monday to Monday) or can they change any day?

I've read the OP, but since it still says price drops happen on Sundays (rather than Mondays that it is now), I was wondering if there also was a change with TIVs.

Salty, if memory serves the values hold for a week which runs either Monday-Sunday or Tuesday - Monday.

My local BBV had a shit ton of :360: Splinter Cell: Conviction as well as :360: Darksiders, :360: Dante's Inferno, :360: Army of Two: 40th Day, :360: MLB 2K10, :360: NBA 2K10, and one copy of :360: NBA Live 10, :360: Gears of War 2 & :360: Mass Effect 2.

I grabbed NBA Live 10 and Splinter Cell, but they couldn't find NBA Live 10 anywhere so I said screw it and left.

Really wanted Crackdown 2, but there were none left.
I just did this a couple days ago. I sent in a package with only 2 of the 4 games I submitted. Many people have done so in the past with no problems.

From Amazon Trade-in FAQ:
So here's my question. Do they ever release the 2 games you never shipped them out of your max 3 every 90 days or whatever? Or does it stay in your history and count against your cap?

I have no idea. This is the first time I've not sent in everything I submitted.

Went to another BBV after work (there are 2 next to my work) and picked up...

:360:Bayonetta $15 ($5 more than others have reported)
:360:Bioshock 2 Free ($15)

:360:Wet $15
:360:Red Faction Guerrilla Free ($15)

Also asked the girl there if I could yoink one of the :ps3:GoW3 manuals and she said sure (they keep them in the cases both PRP and rentals.) Then the employee that worked at the other BBV I visited during lunch walked in to that BBV. I thought that was a little coincidental.

Now trying to decide whether or not to open the PS3 (I've been busy all day) and play or get to sleep soon because I have to get up early like at 5am.
I have no idea. This is the first time I've not sent in everything I submitted.
If you don't mind, check after they receive your most recent shipment. I'm interested in figuring out if they do or not. Thanks in advance.

It seems like you guys know a thing or two about the condition of discs...

This is the first PS3 and PS3 games I've owned...
The data side of my copy of GoW3 looks really "wavy" and has "rainbows"... like it has that look when car oil mixes with a water puddle... (I know strange description.)

So... what's up with that?
Strangely I went to a BB tonight that had a B2G2 promotion going for used games. Not surprisingly, they had about five games that actually qualified.
isnt b2g2 same thing as b1g1? you can even say b3g3 b5g5 lol
not trying to clown you or anything but its weired cause even bbv with b1g1 if you buy 2 games your getting 2 free
unless you must buy 2 to get 2

thinking same thing, doesnt matter how many you buy you still get the same amount free, whether you buy 2, 4, 6 or 20 games. just make sure they ring like items together or in pairs, if you mix $14.99 & $9.99 you will get screwed by like $5 each time, verify you final price before agreeing to pay, word of advice

Went to 3 Blockbusters and picked up the following...

:ds: Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
:ds: Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
:wii: Toy Story Mania
:360: Darksiders
:360: Splinter Cell: Conviction
:360: Bioshock 2

So far so good.

Could be a franchise store. My local BBV does not participate in B1G1 and did B2G2, and their game selection was rubbish.
