What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

Dead to Rights + R&C Crack in Time $14.99

I'm waiting on GoW Collection and BFBC2 for PS3 to drop, both are still $19.99.
How did you trade Bioshock 2 and Conviction for Red Dead Redemption?

Thanks!
I think he was asking how you did this at BBV. But looking at this post, this was not done at BBV was it?

Cuz... I don't think BBV would do such thing.. xP

i purchased the games then went home and traded some of the games as i tried to point out at the top of my post when i said i dont buy and sell from the sale i buy and trade.

so when i got home from store i put them in my avalible list on another site

found someone that wanted bioshock 2 and convIction asked if he would do that and he said yes

thats also how i traded crackdown 2 for the other games.

I'd like to shout out a big fuck you to the local BBV by me that held a copy for me of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom at the counter, but when I got there, they sold it to another guy an hour or so earlier without verifying it was the right person. At least another store supposedly has a complete copy that I may pick up tomorrow. Douchebags.

Anybody have a spare great condition complete GOW3 :ps3: and Bayonetta :360:? I might take them for the right offer. Hit me up if you want to discuss. BBV's price point is compelling on these...

From a business standpoint it makes no sense for a company to hold a copy of anything for anyone other than the first person who comes through the door with cash in hand going 'gimme gimme gimme'.

And let's face it, Blockbuster needs all the money they can get right now.

I saw that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom game at my Blockbuster tonight but passed...fighting games of all kinds bore the absolute crap out of me...I literally get so bored playing them that crap falls out of me.

Awesome deal. Made another run at the BBV and they restocked. Had plenty of GoW3, Bad Company 2, Dead to Rights, Bioshock 2, UFC 2010 and plenty for both platforms (However, UFC 2010 for PS3 was still 19.99). Alot were missing manuals tho, out of probably 11-12 copies of GoW3, there was one manual. I grabbed it and another for me to play

I grabbed the following

GoW3 - 14.99
GoW3- free (this one is going to Amazon i think)

Bad Company 2 - 14.99
UFC Undisputed 2010 (360)- free

Toy Story Mania - 14.99
Xmen Origins Wolverine - free (I kno its 9.99 but I didnt know what to pair it with or if I wanted to spend the extra money, Ive wanted to play this game on consoles for a bit)

Also took advantage of the $25 GC get $5 free. Total came to 48.11 - $30GC = 18.11. But I really paid 25 + 18 = 43. Great deal. I may go up there and grab some more copies of GoW3 and Bad Company 2 for friends.

It's called "good customer service." Yes, BBV needs the money, but good customer service goes a much longer way.

Not in the short term, and BBV is clearly in short term mode for the foreseeable future

I am definitely buying the PS3 version over the Xbox 360 ones. The 360 games are scratched/smudged way more and often missing manuals while the PS3 versions tend to be in like-new condition.

Got Skate 3 (mislabeled) for 9.99, couldn't find much to pair it with so I picked up Dark Void, always wanted to try it, was missing a manual, but meh only incomplete game I have gotten so far.

Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed. My haul today included:

SSBB
Super Mario Galaxy

Up (Wii)
Beatles Rockband (Wii)

Splinter Cell Conviction
Bioshock 2

BF Bad Company 2
Ratchet and Clank ACIT

To top that all off the Bad Company had an unused VIP code so I was able to download the Vietnam thing. Thanks again guys!

You got one heck of a haul. SMG, SSBB, and an unused VIP Code??? Very nice!

I know there is a lurker in my area. Saw a few FME on the shelf for sale at $44. I know I didnt trade it in. And that would explain why the clerk said someone came in and bought all the GOW 3 copies they had... damn you.
Did you not pay for the 'Nam DLC though?
Nope, but now that I'm doing more research on it, I can't find where the Vietnam thing is on my Xbox. When I go to the Battlefield in game store it says this item has been previously downloaded...

i didn't know TvC was at 15 now. i should go check my one blockbuster that had it a few days ago. we'll see. (havne't seen a mario galaxy, but i'll be looking now!)

and way to go uberswiss! that's one good looking haul!

Whoa, I'd love to have a cheap copy of Super Mario Galaxy. I went back for a 2nd haul and picked up quite a bit; probably some stuff I won't even play :(. Couldn't resist the prices.

Picked up

Lost Planet 2 14.99
God Of War 3 free
Prince Of Persia: Forgotten Sands 14.99 (dont know if this was a misprice but all the copies at the store I went to had this price)

Great haul now I hope Battlefield 2 and UFC 10 drop for ps3 next week

Lol Sure you would

In other news since its not listed in OP Fable 2 was listed for 14 at one of the stores i checked out so was crack in time for ps3 and lost planet 2

That is one of the most retarded things I've heard, shooting someone over keying a car and risk killing them and going to jail for possibly the rest of your life.

And people wonder why our society is jacked up.

[Steve Nash] is just ignorantly expressing his frustration. Little does he realize that his crime is far worse than the judgment he is handing down. People like this don't need a reason to act out foolishly. People are so insecure because they showed up late to a sale and missed a deal and they blame anyone else they can for it. There could have been 10-20 other people that bought up those games and he'd act out in some other way, likely against the store.

If people like him didn't exist (people that key cars) then we wouldn't have to resort to violence :p. Not trying to derail this thread anymore, but if someone did key my car I would beat the shit out of him. I wouldn't shoot him though. That's going to the extreme. (Edit - Ha! Rhl's avatar probably explains why. Maybe it's only us BMW fanboys that are crazy about our cars :p) Edit 2 - He drives an S2000... Never mind. His avatar confused me. Still, S2000 drivers are as crazy about their cars as BMW drivers.

Someone mentioned picking up Up for the Wii before. Is it $14.99?

Crack In Time was in the OP since I bought it Monday myself. I also saw Fable II and LP2 for PS3 so I did just add those.

FWIW, the regular version of LBP is $14.99 NEW. Yeah, NEW. I don't know why, but I saw this at several stores including my little local one that hasn't had any new games in ages. I'm assuming that it wouldn't qualify for the sale though. Maybe this was in some sort of bundle they sold a while back and they just have the games left over?

Have you checked your online pass yet with UFC? If you bought it for personal use that is. Mine worked, I am just curious how many other people that have bought the game had working codes. There are Mass Effect 2's with unused Cerberus Codes at my store. They had my UFC manual behind the counter though.
And good on you for getting Wolverine. As far as great comic book games go, it got overshadowed by Arkham Asylum, but it was a really fun game.

agreed, I'd love to find a copy of the Wolverine game to play through again.
i offerd the ttrade and the guy accepted then we sent each other the games not trying to be a jerk but thats how trades work
:) I guess a dumb question deserves a similar response. :)

Well, here is another one then... what is a prepack?

I have had a great time at our local BB. My kids love the games, and then when we find something that we can donate, we pass it on. (Typically try to keep the donation ones at T level or below.)

Thanks!
Forgot to add:

Trade Ins on 12/18:

Prison Break (360) - $10
CSI: Fatal Conspiracy (360) - $12
Thanks for all the info. I also found a copy of Endless Ocean for the WII...TIV is 15 at noram if you guys are interested. Just looked cool so I'm going to check it out.

Same here - LBP (non-GOTY) edition is $14.99 new at my BBV. It does not quality for the BOGO sale though, I asked the manager.

Well, the Dante's Inferno I have seen do not have code card included, they are lucky to have instruction booklet included. Anyway, if someone have an extra unused code, please PM me.
How long is the $25+$5 gc deal going until? Has anyone bought the gc and then used the $30 on 4 games right after?
I've bought the gift cards and used them immediately a few times now. The cashiers always seem to look like...WTF, why did you just buy the gift cards then. The looks on their face is priceless.

Picked up GOW 3 and Dante's Inferno for $15. Dante's Inferno didnt have the code for the Trials of St.Lucia.
If anyone has an unused code they'd be willing to part with and would PM me I'd really appreciate it.

The code isn't for The Trials of St. Lucia, it's for the Dark Forest Pack DLC.

You can find these on ebay for $4 or $5 on the PSN store - The Trials of St. Lucia just dropped in price from $9.99 to $4.99 on the PSN store yesterday.

I dont plan on keeping the UFC code. Im not really sure what to do with it. I may try and trade with someone on here for some M$ points, idk . I may see if a couple friends want it.

I even found a BC2 VIP code, but I think it was for PS3.

I played Wolverine on PC and loved it actually.Ever since, ive been waiting to pick it up for
