Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

The Salisbury, NC location was awesome. No sign of the sale. Girl working didn't know anything about it. She called another and confirmed the sale. Couldn't find the barcode to scan to activate the sale so she had to manually key it in.

I got:
STFU II (360)
STFU II (PS3)
Uncharted 2
SSF IV (360)

All were $14.99 each. Totalled to about $32. They still had a bunch of AC: Brotherhood and STFU II for each system. Two Super Mario Galaxy 2 copies. Thanks to HB for the heads up earlier in the week.

It doesn't matter one way or another, either way you're still talking about used video games and a price difference of $5.

If someone really wants the game $5 doesn't make or break shit, it's not like either price difference makes the game qualify for the sale or not.

I certainly don't want to help darkvulture, but I had the :ps3: version of WFC scanned and it came up 19.99. It was also marked as 19.99 (which is why I asked them to scan it). Having noted that, I had the ps3 version scanned because they were out of the 360 version so it is entirely possible that the 360 could be 14.99 and the ps3 version could be 19.99.

i don't care but these people of a lesser god around here are up in arms at me telling that hb kid his price sheet is off ....sorry i don't trust the word of someguy off the internet whos claims to be a low paid bb worker

Not necessarily true. Depends if they are a franchisee or not. If having sale though I would guess it would be the universal prices.
 
If anybody has a problem with a CAG, just find one of their annoying posts, report it, and then add him to your ignore list. As I can tell having read a couple of darkvulture's posts, I won't miss anything remotely close to useful.

That being said, DV is clearly trolling, and clearing having fun doing it. So the only people who lose in his presence are the people stupid enough to get upset by someone's words on the internets. The rest of us think its lollolpaluza

Debating if I want to hit the store over in York or not. I could see myself picking up Shattered Dimensions if I found something to pair it up with, but I really shouldn't be spending money on games in the first place at the moment.

So if an employee doesn't know about the deal, will it pop up in the computer?

no it does not automatically ring up. ask them to call another store for the barcode which would be faster than him trying to look for the communication email with the barcode on it.

Ah, found the guy behind me. :)

I picked up N3 and Transformers, but ended up putting them back. I have beaten N3 II (Loved it) and my son had beaten Transformers. So I figured I would not play them again.
Nice haul!!

My usual good store has about 500 or so games at a time and apparently a reseller found it. He hits every other sale. Must have gotten there an hour late. Someone bought about 100-150 games in one transaction and I saw the employees bringing several very large cardboard cases to the back full of empty locking cases. I don't need games, but its kind of sad.
 
To the CAG who reported the idiocy in here, thank you. That issue has been dealt with for a little while since he's prevented from posting for a bit of time. It should be cleaned up now, so go back to what you were doing previously.

If there's other issues going on in the thread or other threads, please report the posts and a mod will deal with it.

mine didn't have a great selection but i got SWFU2 and AC: Brotherhood for xbox 360 for $20 total...acb was $20 and swfu2 was $15.

pretty good for $10 each

Yup, no flips for me this round...i might chk back later in the week. The only game im regreting not getting is KH 358 days or something. It was $9.99 but couldnt find a good pair up. I had it awhile back , but the wife didnt like it. Im hoping she'll like KH recoded.

Love 358/2 days and kingdom hearts in general except re coded. Have no interest in it

Anybody hit up the Blue Springs, MO stores?

There are two here, and I didn't get a chance to scout things out. Debating if it's worth my time to check when we have a heat advisory well over 100 degrees. Yuck.
