I can't wait. I hope they haven't droped my box at local store. It's been about a month since I picked up my comics

Give them a call..thats the least you can do. Im sure if you need an extension they'll keep it going at least a little longer than normal.

Ok, I'm here. What can I bitch about?

On a serious note, is it percieved that all I do is bitch about comics?

Chamber after he loses his powers as a result of House of M:

Ouch, seriously ouch.

This image comes from Generation M #1 preview on Newsarama. Which can be found at the bottom of this page[/img]

Looks like it could be interesting if done right (then again, I seem to say that about everything). I'm surprised that Iceman wasn't included in this group seeing as how he's one of the major de-powered mutants.

The first of the Decimation titles come out this week too. The Day After and New Excalibur. I told myself no new lines but with Nocturne and Juggernaut on the team I'm dying to know what it will be like so I'll probably pick that up.

Also, of course, as Nigel mentioned, Infinite Crisis #2 is out this week. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed.

I read New X-men for the first since #8 and it was good. Who are some the main and known mutants that lost there powers? Iceman is one.

Chamber, Jubilee, Quicksilver, Magneto, and Scarlett Witch are some other "heavy hitters"

I kinda doubt Scarlett witch would lose her powers.

Can someone tell me how her hex powers work? I remember someone told me how it could be done 'scientifically' based on the physics of the Marvel universe but I don't remember any of it.
so in house of m 8 is the whole spidey/doctor strange thing sorta mocking DC for there mind wipes?
I know they've made a joke somewhere in a Marvel book about that (other than Wha...HUH?!)...but it was really more of Spidey actually wanting those Memories gone in this instance.

I kinda doubt Scarlett witch would lose her powers.

But she was the main person who made it happen, AND she didnt show up in Cerebro

On a serious note, is it percieved that all I do is bitch about comics?

Nope...I just using "Bitching" instead of "Talking" about comics. That's how it normally ends up on the internet, as well as at my store :)
There's that and the fact that it was pretty apparent that she didn't want to be a mutant herself anymore so if she had the omnipotent power to do whatever she wanted why wouldn't she de-mutantize herself? Additionally, her powers were basically making her lose her mind and the last scene they show her in she seems pretty care free.

Okay, for the past year or so I've stopped collecting monthly comics and just wait for the trades. I'm in a budget crunch and am stoping comics altogether until I'm in the clear. From what I've read so far and what I'm hearing, should I really continue with X-Men? It's what got me into comics, but like the first time I quit in the early '90's, it seems the story has been dragging and being rehashed with just different mutants. Grant Morrison's run IMO wasn't as great as everyone made it out to be and Frank Quitley's art sucked. Everyone had long faces with asain eyes. Also, with all the different X-books, it's gotten out of hand. I'm thinking when I can afford it, I'll just be going the Ultimate route since it's much simpler. Until they kill jean, bring her back, kill jean, bring her back, kill jean, etc. I wish she WOULD stay dead. As much as I love Magneto, he should be dead too. Along with Xavier. Remember the early 200's when Xavier was gone how the team went through so much? That was great time with good stories. Rehash that point if anything.

Also, I think Veritgo titles will come back for me. More thought out and interesting. Y the last man, Fables, 100 bullets, Transmet, Preacher, etc.

If you only read one X-men title, it should be Astonishing X-men!

As far as Jean Grey, the only reason they did that storyline where she just recently came back, I think, was so that they could let everyone say goodbye to her properly.

I'll read up on the last few trades and see what happens. Course the IC thing at DC is making me curious, damn!

Anyway, what does everyone read?
Most of the main x-titles
Ulitmate X-men
Ex machina
Y the last man
100 bullets
Fables
TMNT
few others here and there.

For me, the only x-title i buy is astonishing.

For the rest of the x-men titles...well, with the fallout from House of M, i have no clue as to whats going to happen.

OK so I'm hopelessly out of the loop, Its been like 6 months since Ive picked up any books, can anyone give me the rundown on the whole House Of M thing, feel free to load it with spoilers, thanks

Plus, Astonishing X-Men would be really cheap since it's shipping schedule was averaging more than 2 months per issue.

Can I complain about late shipping books? Thanks.

I'M SICK OF IT!!!:bomb:

Secret War was supposed to be done in earlier this year (March?). The last issue will ship by the end of November at the earliest. In fact, it's so late that some of the last issue is having to be rewritten because of major changes in the Marvel U that the end of the storyline wouldn't have made any sense. Gabrielle Dell'Otto, you are the suck.

Superman/Batman--This latest arc has been resolicited at least 2x (maybe 3). Loeb, Pacheco, whoever is the reason for the delay, get to work!

Iron Man 6 was supposed to be out in April. Issue 5 is now 2 weeks late. This 6-issue arc could potentially take 18 months to complete since issue 1 shipped 10/04. When a book that Warren Ellis is writing is late, he is usually the reason. Not this time. This time the dishonor goes to artist Adi Granov. Finish it!

All-Star Batman and Robin. This was, from issue 1, solicited to ship every 6 weeks. Editorial knows it will take a little longer, cool. They schedule for it, cool. Issue 3 is now 3 weeks late (as of 11/16) and 4 has been resolicited. The fault could easily be w/either Frank Miller or Jim Lee. It doesn't matter. You have 6 weeks! Get to work!

I'm stunned that Daredevil: Father 4 was only 2 weeks late. Dan Buckley must be locking Joe Quesada in his office at nights.

I'll be even more stunned if the last 3 issues of Spider-Man/Black Cat all ship on time. Kevin Smith...I'm not even going to get started on that load.:whistle2:#

There are a few other books that I buy that are currently about 2-3 weeks late but I'll stop there since I think I've made my point. Do any of you have titles you buy that regularly/semi-regularly run late? I've gotten to the point where I've even dropped a few books because of this. I just had to unload.

Bleh. Finished reading the last HoM and I felt the ending was underwhelming. No whizz-bang explodey ending. A Halo 2 ending.

Yeah, I borrowed the HoM comics from a friend last week because I decided not to get them myself, and I wasn't too impressed. But I didn't really expect much. Although I do wonder what they're going to do with the "No more mutants" angle.

Most likely it'll end up as a pseudo-reboot of the Marvel Universe as in the beginning there weren't that many mutants (limited to the Xmen & the Brotherhood of Evil) and you'll regress into the old storylines where the mutants will be forced underground and work from the shadows - for good or bad.
Here's a bump to for the thread. And an early Christmas present for Neocisco: "Secret War #5, the final issue of the Brian Bendis/Gabriele Dell’Otto miniseries that began just after the glaciers started puling back from the North American landmass will be in stores on December 14th."

http://www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/SecretWar/BendisSW05Pre.htm
Sweet Christmas! I knew I'd be able to use that phrase one day. They can announce yet another date all they like but I'll only believe it when I'm holding the book in my hands. I've seen way too many "oh, we mean it, we're really serious this time" announcements about late books to actually believe it. Thanks for the notice, though, DCS.:)

Late books just mean Marvel will only get my money if it comes in trade. All my monthly titles are DC right now. With Ultimate SM, Ultimates, and Astonishing trades being the Marvel items I pick up. Does it surprise you Marvel is late all the time when the head guy can't get his work completed on time. Just imagine if Time magazine came out and said you know what we aren't going to get the next issue out for 2 weeks. How can you run a business that way? Won't let them burn me again...

Side note I have a bunch of runs from the last year I am going to sell before the holidays. Anyone interested should PM for a list. I can post the list if you like. All of the runs are from some of the most popular storylines omac series, days vengenance series, first storyline new cap america, JSA, GL: Rebirth, Batman (RedHood/Todd), Teen Titans, secret war 1-4 which was the last time Marvel suckers me, etc. Looking for cover price on them in lots...

Was just reading about that... mind you #5 was solicited for later in the month, so its not too surprising. I believe it has more to do with the other books than IC being late in and of itself.

That's the problem w/all-encompassing LS/storylines. If one essential part runs late it screws up the whole thing. Plus, we're talking comics here. There will ALWAYS be comics that ship late. Sucks for us. Trades look better and better every year.

I got BMW Films: The Hire 4 this week. That makes it about 9 months late. However, from what I understand, the fault was BMW's. They made some design changes which affected the look of the cars. There are 2 issues left so I'm guessing Dark Horse will probably solicit #5 for March.

I really can't blame the Secret Wars folks for shipping late. There's really now way to tell how long painted work is going to take and it's generally a hell of a lot longer than pen and ink. A good penciler can crank out a page of work in a day, or possibly less, depending on the complexity. Alex Ross has gone on the record to say that if he's working at warp speed he can finish about 10 painted pages in a month, working 7 days a week. To me all that matters is the final product - if it looks great, than it was worth however long it took.

I agree...to a point. Yes, Alex Ross can take all the time he wasnt. Hell, Justice is Bi-Monthly from the start, and they already had issues in the can. My problem is when you have a book like Secret Wars that multiple other books depended on. I mean...when the books late enough that they have to change the ending to fit everything else...thats just not good.

Well since their seems to be nothing else to talk about, what did everyone think about the Superman Returns sneak peek trailer? I was actually really impressed, because I don't really have as high of expectations for it. I'm just not a big fan of Bryan Singer, and I thought the first two X-Men movies were rather corny and dissapointing. I do like the fact they they got an unknown actor to play Superman, but I hate both the "S" logo, and the way the constume looks. But the trailer, for as short as it was, was really good, and actually got me interested in the movie again.

I agree with you 100% about the trailer. A lot of information I read about it made me kind of have a "meh" attitude toward it but after seeing the trailer I'm extremely excited for it.

Anyone else in dissagreement with the Top 10 Villainous Moments? How can they ignore Doc Light raping Sue Dibny? I mean, that's just low, especially for a super-villain.

And I don't even know if Joker's murder of JT should even count, considering his sacriligious return in recent books.

And what about Cheshire nuking Quraq? That's pretty damn evil. Or Mongol wiping out Coast City. Or Hal and Parallax dicking everyone over. Freaking evil.

And the Superman costume looks horrendous. It's all the Superman Logo. It's teeny tiny.

I'd be ashamed to wear it.

Oh and what about the Saint of Killers aerating God's skull in Preacher? While he may have deserved it, he killed off God. That's evil.

Well, apparently, rape isn't something new to the DCU with Identity Crisis. I've been told that there are a few random assorted rapings that have happened before but I honestly can't back that information up with anything concrete cause I can't even remember where I heard it from.

That having been said, that was DEFINETLY one of the top 10 villainous moments in comics, if not top 5. I think the Jason Todd killing, despite him coming back right now, was very villianous because of the way it was handled. I mean the kid was fucking backstabbed by his OWN mother... That's just cold.

Then I guess that means that I'm going to have to wait to see them talk and move as well. And I'm still not over the fact that Gambit won't be in it.

...to continue my unfounded opinions on the film that i have not even seen the teaser trailer for (out later today), im glad Gambits not in it since i want the movie he's in to be GOOD.

/unfounded opinion
//damn Fark...

When you watch it, go in with the mindset that its a (mostly) kid freindly introduction to FF. If you think of it tht way its a fun little movie with a few quirks. If you try and compare it to Batman/Sin City/X2 it sucks balls.
