Hunter Killer is waiting for the trade material for me.

On a crisis related note, i went and read the last Teen Titans tpb, "The future is now" and it REALLY seems like a roadmap for the DCU. Some of it feels far fetched, but the people who died seem to fit the 1 year later solicitations, as well as the general feel of the DCU right now. Of course the headstone for "Selena Kyle Loving Wife and Mother" was interesting...

Was the latest Catwoman any good? I almost picked it up. Wished I did. Loved Superman/Batman! I love the art and the story, it is a shame that it runs so late. Also picked up latest Batman and All Star Batman. Haven't got a chance to read All Star, but it looks great!

Catwoman was great for new readers and long-time fans. Of course, i mean new readers in the sense that they just started reading Identity/Infinite crisis :)

Yeah catwoman 50 looks interesting. I haven't had a chance to stop in this week, but I saw it on the DC site. Never been a catwoman fan, but I Zatanna is great. Cover is what peaked my interest...

That's me!
4 was the last issue that came out, and that was the beginning of November
Ok. Thanks.

The last one I got was issue three, so I better grab four a.s.a.p.

So is Allstar Batman and Robin getting any better? Because man that first issue really blew and I'm hoping Miller will get back on his feet with this series.

If your looking for an eloquint take on the original batman origin and stories. No, its gotten worse.

If you have a morbid curiosity of how far they'll let Lee and Miller go, then it keeps getting more interesting as it goes. They just introduced the Black Canary and at the end they show a special friend will be coming for a visit.

Stupid Marvel. I was just looking through their upcoming releases and saw that they are putting all of the Ultimate Annual issues into one trade paper-back. So instead of putting them into their respective series' tbps, I'd have to buy an fucking volume of annuals that include all of the series (x-men, fantastic four, spider-man, ultiamtes). Seriously, why not just put the ultimate spider-man annual in the ultimate spider-man tbp?

If that is the case I will just skip the annuals. I don't really follow ultimate x-men. I have been tempted to grab the first 3 hardcovers off talesofwonder for $45 though. Fantastic four blew me away the first trade, but the next couple went down hill. As soon as they pulled the 3 issue trade 4 bullshit I was done with that series. I don't see myself going back to ultimate ff as soon as I ebay the ones I have.

Ultimates FF "Crossover" is great. Nice little surprise for everyone who thought they were going to do an Ultimate meets Regular Marvel series

This year I'm planning to start carrying a sketchbook with me for Con season. Does anyone have a suggestions on the best brand/type out there? I believe I am going to focus on a core theme being the JLA.

My wallspace is full and with stacks of art/lithographs sitting in a closet I figure I need to focus on a sketchbook. Already started my wishlist for HeroesCon: Ethan Van Sciver, Adam Hughes, Dexter Vines, and Michael Bair.

So I was checking out the tv schedule for today, when I stumbled on "Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." starring David Hasselhoff. I totally forgot this movie was ever made. Their used to be so many horrible comic book movies back in the day.

Yeah, I remember Generation X, too. That sucked.

HOLY SHIT, that really was Nick Fury?!?! I was flipping through the channels and I must have turned this on and I was thinking, WTF is this? some kind of Nick Fury ripoff?

Nuff said.

It looks better than most revamps...but I dont like it all that much as his regular costume.

It should be interesting hearing the regular buyers comments when it happens

I saw that on Attack of the Show yesterday (I'm embarassed to say I even watched that. Rarely, I swear!). Supposedly, Tony Stark gives Peter the new costume. Great, more spider-armor. I think there's a good place for it next to the spider-mobile.

Seem like a slow week for comics this week. I think the only thing I got was JLA. It was MEH...next week's shipment looks weak as well (according to the Diamond shipping list). Anyone here collecting Firestorm? How good is it?

Was it that comic book segment they have with that girl? I've seen that before too, and I usually disagree with whatever she says. And I don't watch AOTS regularly, but I think it's cool that they have something about comic book on their show.

I've seen her a couple of times on AOTS, she has a pretty good take on comics and I usually agree with her picks. I thought it was funny when she called Jim Lee and Frank Miller's take on Batman a marriage in HELL!

Firestorm - An important to DC current continuity book that is on the verge of me not reading it anyways. It takes a book a lot (especially DC) to get on my "not-reading that shit for free" list

Whoa Nigel, is that malice I hear in your voice. What has caused the Flameheaded one to incite such bile?

Another week and I didn't pick up any new comics...(even though I should since I work @ the comic store)

What do you guys think of All-star Batman so far?

Also, do we have any Indy readers out here?

It's another young black man comic book written so poorly that i cant really suggest it under its own merits. Young Avengers was great at first, until we realized the kid was a junkie.

BTW, im saying all that with knowledge that I have black customers who want thier kids to read comics with strong black characters...and Archie sure as hell isnt that book.

I'm on the verge of dropping Young Avengers. I love Jim Cheung's pencils but the stories have just been bland. The last panel of 7(?) where Patriot was shooting up MGH was just a blatant ripoff of Speedy from Green Lantern/Green Arrow. I had reservations of buying a book being written by someone from the O.C. and it looks like I wasn't wrong, unfortunately.

Oh, random suggestion if there's nothing else to buy...Seven Soldiers of Victory Vol. 1

#0 issue
#1-#2 Zatanna
#1-#2 The Manhattan Gaurdian
#1-#2 Shining KNight
#1 Klarion The Witch Boy

Each is part of a 4 part mini to be concluded in another volume, along with the start of 4 more mini's. 28 issues of Mini's with 2 book end issues total. Its very hard to explain, but 7 hero's must be gathered to fight an enemy, but never meet each other. its written by Grant Morrison with art by different people on each title

That's a shame, I really liked Young Avengers. I dropped because I was picking up more and more DC. The only Marvel titles I'm picking up are New Avengers, Marvel Zombies, and Ultimates.

I HATED how they split the volume in half! I seriously would pick the trade up if it was 2 books full runs.

Any tips for places to buy comics on the cheap? I used to read them a decade+ ago and just recently thought it'd be fun to pick up a run of a decent title. Don't have a real preference as to the age or really the title. Basically are there good places to check other than eBay?

If that ain't the sort of thing this thread is for, then carry on :)

1-888-comic-book will help you find a loacl comic shop, and maybe they have a back issue clearance area.

Also, garage sales. And if it looks remotely like they may have comics in the house, mention it, you'll be surprised at what you can get :)

Think of it this way. He's telling a large 30 issue story, in 6 parts (Bookends + mini's). This way people will buy all the mini's and bookends in a collection, while reading it the same way someone in a comic shop would, instead of skipping on Klarion or the whichever character they arn't too fond of. Hell, with the IC mini collection im having no problem selling everything except for Rann Thangar. If they had done it the same as 7 soldiers, it would have sold inside with everything else, its just that the stories were not as important to each other as the 7S books.

I need to stop rambling right when i get into work...

Enter your zip code and see what comes up. I have three stores listed in my area. But it's really just one, since the others are too far away, or just suck.

Works the same with video games

Tried that site DCS, there are a few within 5 or so miles of me I might check out. Actually, I guess I could try Yahoo Yellow Pages as well.

Do comic book stores generally have some older stuff for cheap? I'd think I'd probably generally do better with eBay lot auctions, but I guess it's worth a look.

It really varies between stores. We only go back a few years, and have a crap load of $1 comics. Some stores go back throughthe 80's and 90'sand have some as low as .10-.25

I was able to pick up Firestorm (2004) #7 to #19 for $10.75 (including shipping) from ebay. Firestorm is heavily tied into Villains United, OMAC, and Infinite Crisis and I like each of the series that I want to pick up the Firestorm tie-ins. Don't hold it against me SpottedNigel.

I wont. I read them all too. It's not TOO bad overall (might have been a bit testy when i put my "review" up before) but it just felt like I HAD to read it, not that I WANTED to read it. Batman I dont need to read, but I WANT to. That kind of thing.

Yep. That's how I picked up a significant portion of the Marvel run of G.I. Joe.
Of course, thanks to the Image and Devils Due pick-up of the liscense, and general nostalgia on a tirade, I don't know if it's worth the money to try and finish up the run.

Infinite Crisis is out tommorow....and it is good :) Superboy vs. Superboy, Blue Beetle info, Alexander Luthor is a Dick (and so is Superboy Prime), and Bludhaven is....well, i'll leave that one for when you read it :)

All-Star Superman is actually a really cute book. Yes, cute. It's something i'm considering to give to my GF, in the sense of theres really nothing horrible in it, has a nice story, and the artwork is beautiful. Lois kicks ass, and will kick even more in the next issue.

Penny-Arcade's Attack of the Bacon Robots trade is in stores tommorow as well.

Gonna go read through some more!

I just spent the last 2 days reading through every issue of The Runaways. How the hell did I miss this fantastic series all this time? I love these characters and the story was very entertaining. Molly and Chase are my 2 new favorite characters. Even the guest appearances don't feel forced like with some other comics. Issue 12 is suppose to come out tomorrow along with the new Planetary. I guess I picked a good time to start.

Hey spottednigel.....I'm at work so I cannot access your ebay auctions link but that Bone Hardcover in your listing that isn't the rare nice one is it?

EDIT: think it is called Thorn: Tales from the Lantern

I saw Nigel on Newsarama talking about the IC/Bludhaven thing. I don't think I read enough of the thread to have anything spoiled for me. I'll know for sure in about 3 and 1/2 hours ;)
