Yes, but most MAk-90s are also 7.62X39 and the pistol grip kits are dirt cheap as is the MAK which runs about $40 or so vs the SKS. IME (albeit limited with SKSs) SKSs were pretty low quality vs AKs / MAKs.
I can see the appeal of the standard rifle style stock, and it does have it's vintage / combat history. IDK, I guess I'm biased and have just never liked them.
Whatttttttt? I've never seen a Mak 90 Retail for under $500. At least, not one that you'd want to actually fire. A decent SKS can be had for around $200 with high quality Russians at $400. I've seen Mak 90s hit the $1000+ range.
The SKS is comparable in quality to the AK-47, especially when you're talking about Eastern European variants. The Chinese SKS is kinda shitty, but still about on par with your average AK.
Check out the Maks on gunbroker.

I'd be interested to know where you're getting them for $40 over the SKS.

I want to write a letter to John Carpenter and tell him to return to greatness by making a serious
Escape from New York sequel, entitled "
Escape from Detroit".
They're doing a remake...
